If accidental Governor David Paterson is forced to resign, a top adviser to former New York Mayor Rudoph Giuliani says that Mr. 9/11 may consider running if there is a special election for New York State’s Governorship,” according to the New York Post.
This election would occur of course in the year in which presidential nominee John McCain would be at the top of the GOP ticket.
Paterson, who was quickly sworn in as Governor after the revelations of Eliot Spitzer’s adventures with prostitutes, has admitted that both he and his wife have had affairs. But he won points because of his candor and the fact that he enjoyed the company of girl friends rather than prostitutes. (There is an ongoing debate which is “better” politically.)
While Paterson has announced that he does not wish to discuss his personal life any further, his resignation is still a distinct possibility because state lawmakers have begun to question his use of campaign funds.
The deal is that if “Paterson stepped down before August, then a special election would occur in November 2008. If Paterson stepped down in August or later of 2008, State Senate leader Joseph Bruno would ascend to the Governor’s office,” writes gothamist.com. It is certain that Bruno would take revenge on Spitzer Democrats.
Giuliani running for Governor? Please, give me a break. How much sense does it make that wife-cheater Giuliani would run for a spot held by a man who must resign because he has cheated on his wife?
And, wouldn’t Giuliani need the voters in New York City to become Governor? My sources tell me that he wouldn’t have a prayer here in the Big Apple. Zero.
And don’t forget how many New Yorkers live in Florida. After putting so many millions into his one-shot campaign in the Sunny State to no avail, didn’t he get the message?
Do politicians ever see the exit sign and know when to go home and find something else to do?
