Trail Mix Cottontail

here comes craig c with out fail
bopping down the mixers' trail,
tulips popping, spring is on its way.

bringing all us girls and boys
dc tales of woes and joys,
flips and flops and rumors of the day.

(he's got goodies for the gopers, ping and jax to name a few, and kudos for the wordsmiths, corey, sturge and cbob too.)

there goes jamie, jack and lard
searching facts and thinking hard,
keeping all the nasty trolls away.

and here are sea and solar too
working best at what they do
getting chlo and tony to come play.

(they've got flatus in an uproar, pogo, div and et too. and don't forget the rest of us, especially bethyboo.)

oh here we are with mouse in hand
tracking pols across the land
hippity hopping, hoping spring will stay.

Winter Solstice 2008

(We usually don't remember how these things get started, but here's one of our collectively written poems -- with too many contributors to name.)

twas the day before solstice
and all thru the house
not a trailmixer blogged
not even the louse.
craig posted his post
written with care
hoping sounds of dissent
soon would be aired.
the posters were posting
dissent was the norm
all in contention
without reason or form......
Patsi in Nashville and Chloe with a toast
had just settled down for a long Solar post
When up from their keyboards arose such a clatter
Cbob came back to see what was the matter
republicans, democrats
libertarians, too
if it were possible
they'd all throw a shoe.......
when what to our wondering eyes should appear
but a link so incredible, some of us feared
Had Gordo been right? Could it be so?
and his name really is soetorobamo
Let's wait for Jamie, she will certainly know.
knew in a moment it was Brian, the Dem from NY
More rapid than eagles,his curses they came
he shot off response and called the PuMas by name
now blago, stevens, madoff and nixon,
spiro, bobby b and sherman adams,
go away go away go away scams.
Shame on Marcia, on Corey,, on Viv and old sea, ...
Why you can't you just agree with me?
Rosie hung from the rafters with care,
In anticipation that Tom soon would be there.
The posters had visions of an inauguration in their heads
and hopes that others might be reading their threads
And in popped Ms Cracker , "Let's legalize instead ! "
The flames roared to the rafters
The fire crackled and jumped
What could it be?
They all sat there stumped.
Then down through the fireplace
Came a hissing of gas
Something's stuck in the chimney?
Why, it's only Lardass
Craig sprang from his writing, to mixers a wave
"Continue without me, I've a book yet to save."
But I heard him exclaim as fled from our sight
Happy Solstice to all and a New Year real bright.
