Early Oscar Thoughts

| | Comments (11)

oscar.jpg"The Hurt Locker" should win Best Picture, nice to see a woman directing a war flick. George Clooney plays himself in "Up in the Air." Meryl Streep for "Julie & Julia" a no brainer. Anna Kendrick gets Supporting Oscar if you're looking for a newcomer. "Inglourious Basterds" didn't work for me, couldn't follow the plot. Haven't seen "Avatar," guess I must. And I always root for Randy Newman.

  2. I won't see any of these until they come to cable TV.

I don't go to the movies and I don't rent DVDs.

I really want to see "Avatar." That should be on cable no later than 2015 or so.

    Life in the slow lane.

  3. Hurt Locker, but who knows?

Too bad we don't see a movie about this crap:

Maybe Obama might "engage" some of our "allies".

  4. I was so disappointed with the "big" movies this year so it will be DVDs for me as well. While I love Randy Newman and would ordinarily root for him even when he is competing against himself, this year I have to go for The Weary Kind

I think the Taliban and OBL should be worried.....

Given the road that woman still must walk in the military, gays will have a long walk too.

  8. I prefer to watch movies at home. The seats are more comfy and I don't have to deal with that little, blue light emitting from cellphones while people are texting, or the people who discuss the movie during the movie, or the folks who smell like worchestershire sauce, cigarette smoke & salami.

Bought the DVD of "Julie & Julia" - it's one of the few I know I will want to watch more than once.

  10. As soon as they make HBO or Cinemax (or USA, TBS, TNT ...) I may see them and have an opinion. until then... I guess I'll go withthe blue guy, just to go for something entirely different.

  11. I love movies and go about 3 times a week.

We have a great brew pub theater, (Northern Lights charges 3 bucks for all shows.

We have the nicest independent cinema, Salem Cinema..It has been around almost 30 years and last year opened a beautiful 3 screen building.

I go to Regal Cinemas quite a bit. You get lots of free things including movie tickets with the Regal Card. I also have a lifetime Regal 32 oz. soda cup where you get pop for 1 buck.
    Quite a deal.

Most gifts I redefve are Regal giftcards because everyone knows I love movies.

The best movie I saw all year was , "The Hurt Locker".
