  2. Ah Mr Obama is becoming Presidential.. Very nice dinner, Sending troops to War, Hanging with the crowds from Bollywood.

Maybe there is Hope for more Change and he will wake up on the disaster that the Congress is putting forward in the Healthcare Tax Bills. Maybe Obama will help find real reform.
And we fry all the Turkey of a Congress we have now.

We can start with the 40 Republican Senators who are refusing to let more than 100 already passed House bills come to the floor. Then the nation can be truly thankful something useful can actually be done for the 99% of the country that needs help.

Talking about tax and spend Democrats when Boehner blows $70,000 on three golf outings is just a little silly.

The truth is that under Democrats, the debt goes down. Under Republicans it skyrockets. Trickle down and the country goes broke. Bubble up and we get rich. So the claims of frugality on the part of the GOP should just produce guffaws from anyone not blinded by the hype.

    Jamie,
Ya,Dowd never misses a chance to turn the screw on the Clinton's..Hell,she's just plain MEAN!! I do however agree with the last line in her piece; "Bill Clinton may not have cared any more about contributors than Obama does, but he was such a talented politician that he made them feel as though they were in “a warm bath,” as one put it.

Obama is more like a cold shower."

  12. Last month, there was a sign on the south lawn pardoning the mess because of a concert the week before...and now they pitch a tent on it? Their poor gardener.

Is Faux gonna have a problem with a vegetarian meal? I can see it now: Culinary "bowing" to India.

Craig's use of turkey in a video was appropriate; it did not go to waste. Wake-up Willie's use of the poor bird this morning really ticked me off. If the thing had to die, at least don't use it as a prop and destroy it so it can't be eaten...and after the way it was manhandled, I can't imagine it could be eaten. Especially sad to see with this economy.

Also, there was very little Texas two-step in Tom DeLay's Texas two-step last night. AND I COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT HIS NUT SLIDE INTO THE CAMERA. (That should be left to Springsteen, thank you.)

  14. ping - What's the difference between my insurance premium going up every year, many times by double digits, and the gov't taxing us and making sure we can't be denied coverage.

The money is still coming out of our pockets, but at least it would be spread across the board. Right now, the insurance comany is basically collecting the tax to distribute as excessive compensation for their few in return for denying as many services as they can manage to do.

We need HEALTH CARE coverage, and as I've said before, insurance companies are in the gambling business and the house never loses. Now that's a hotel/casino they don't have in Vegas yet: The Blue Cross.

  16. Blue - Why are they not regulating Health Insurance like Home owners or Power Companies Or Or Or???
Why do this Congress which acts like the freind of the people that is going to take a big bite out of your wallet not open up compitition?
We need to improve Healthcare Yes - But not deystroy the system that has brought the advancements.

  20. Good morning TM…..now this is the Thanksgiving Spirit, - stop whining Democrats and be thankful:

    http://www.slate.com/id/2236558/

Unfortunately much of what Bruce Reed characterizes as Obama-positive remains to be seen. Still, there is much the administration is engaging in far from media’s myopic interests, despite Dowd whining that Obama should be more like Palin.

In the Middle East, the US, the Saudis and Israelis are all engaged in naval operations to seek and interdict illegal Iranian arms and materials going to Lebanon, Gaza and Yemen. The Jordanians are now fighting Iranian proxies in Yemen in an area that rivals Afghanistan:

    http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=6388

Meanwhile Iran is racing to build dummy silos and decoy missiles defense batteries to confuse enemy fighters, missiles and drones. Ahmadinejad understands the Arab air space is open for Israeli action. While the latest US defense collaboration in Israel exposed present limitations in missile defense, DOD tests last week downed aerial targets with a truck borne laser.

    http://boeing.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=941

Iran is deploying new midget subs in the Gulf and beyond which the US and Saudi navy is seeking to detect. The implication of advanced technology should be obvious. The administration is also aware Syria still refuses to even acknowledge to the IAEA how Israel discovered their nuclear WMD collaboration with North Korea and Iran. Obama has certainly been shown the hacked computer Intel. He knows there are many pressing questions involving secret North Korean and Syrian nuclear facilities. He knows more than we do about what the Iranians are up to. The Saudis know, the Jordanians know. Egypt knows. Israel knows:

    http://www.rr.com/news/topic/article/rr/9000/9600080/Israel_readying_new_arms_to_meet_Iran_challenge

Obama has an unusual opportunity to bring the Arab/Israeli sides together in a new alliance. The thorn is of course, the intractable Palestinians and an Israeli President contending with a 4% approval rating of Obama’s Middle East policy and what has happened in Gaza. In light of Obama’s Arab gestures, Netanyahu can’t afford to look weak so he tosses his base a bone with Gilo while largely accepting the ground rules established by Bill Clinton and Israeli President Barak. As I said long ago, he works best as a foil.

So to conservatives, I would repeat Reed’s admonishing: stop whining. Things could be far worse.

  21. Advanced Souls will not get involved in personality conflicts and petty squabbles (shuts out the engery of light and love) but are only concerned about the work -- the Plan for Humanity. There is so much to be done. Time is running short. And, only the good of the Whole matters, and not the individual parts.

"The New Age will not be ushered in and find true expression of its latent energies through the medium of old and patched up forms, or through the preservation of ancient techniques and attitudes. It will come into being through entirely new forms and by means of the intelligent discarding of old modes of religion, government and economic and social idealisms. It is always difficult for the (Servant of Humanity and Goodwill) who is working in the world of human affairs to strike the happy medium between sound physical plane techniques in expression and the measure of the vision which he sees; it is never easy to adapt and to relate the old to the new, thus producing that which the present requires. The task of the disciple, (servant of humanity) as you can see from the three words—old, new and present—is therefore primarily concerned with Time. This right comprehension of the time element requires the eye of vision, plus right interpretation of that which it sees (or envisions)." [Discipleship in the New Age II, Alice A. Bailey] Thank God for the Agents of Change who try to make a difference in the lives of ordinary human beings, whose intentions and Duty are to uplift the conditions of the people and to serve the people.... They try to raise the minimum wage, they try to extend unemployment benefits, they try to make sure there is clean water and clean air, but its hard and there is always a fight from the best Congress money can buy, whose mission is to stall and to obstruct and to incite fear! And, at this time in our history, so much is Crying Out for Change. And, as Science teaches us to do nothing and to be static only leads to decay -- only leads to death. Let these Agents of Change fight on with joy which will call in the "higher Angels of their being" and with solidarity, which is their strength.

More importantly, "we (are Higher Selves, the engery of light and love) are the Change we have been waiting for". We must get too it!

  25. WASHINGTON: The United States and India signed a deal here Tuesday aimed at promoting the development of technology that will produce cleaner forms of energy.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and India's external affairs minister S M Krishna, during a high-profile visit to Washington by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The deal will "enhance cooperation on energy security, energy efficiency, clean energy and climate change," State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters.

"Both countries will work jointly to accelerate development and deployment of clean energy technologies and to strengthen cooperation on adaptation to climate change, climate science and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from forests and land use," he added.

"After being kicked out of the book-signing, Walsh and her crew then waited outside...
"Hey, remember us, we're the Canadians! "When we asked you that question, we didn't hear your answer."
Palin strolled over... "Canada needs to dismantle its public health-care system and allow private enterprise to get involved and turn a profit."

In addition to those comments, Walsh said, she found it equally bizarre that no one was allowed to ask Palin any questions at the book-signing.

"We're in a bookstore, at a public event, in a place one would think was a bastion of free speech. And no one was allowed to ask questions. What are they afraid of?"

Give us back the America we were proud of, before your weasel-worded lies and schemings dirtied all our dreams.

  46. Ping,

Going to be on your side today..I agree with you that this health bill sucks...for not for the same reasons...it sucks because all it does it throw more money out the window..and into the Ins corp doors...

Medicare wastes more than 75 blillion per year...you are right that we need reform...this bill will only add to that waste...and not imo...but as a fact....this alone could pay for U. H. almost...the rest would be easy....

What I don't like is that you keep saying that government is the problem...you must agree that almost all of the tarp money, and the stimulus money, whent to the big Banks, and other Corps (wall st) that is not government.. name some of the little corps, people that has been helped so far??

Obama has to allocate the remaining money that is still in the Tarp fund from the Bush admin. and the rest of the stimulus money; to small corps..that are the middle class working people...we need this...NOW..he needs to give out more $ not less....but it must be done in a way that it won't be deverted by State Gov's , or City Mayor's for anything other than what it is intended to do....

You have to stop the Government (Obama) is at fault meme..he needs to tell Elizabeth Warren to spend the rest of the Tarp Money on the middle class...or there won't be any left to balance the Rich, and the Poor......Bush DiD this so stop you bs...starting to lose a little respect ...

    Happy Thanks giving to all....

Prime Minister Singh is free to be a vegetarian Sikh, if that is what he wants, just as a Vishnaite Hindu is free to eat cows, until one of the Fundamentalists has him/her stoned to death for bovicide. I think it's fine that the P.M. chooses to be a vegetarian, because it means more meat for me.

  50. No, Solar, Ms Sea's not entirely right on VN.

My charge was not that the republicans invented the Viet Nam War, but that they lost it.

nixon took office in Jan 1969. Within 2 weeks of his inauguration, he said in a recorded phone conversation that the war was "unwinnable", but that he would continue to wage it, because he wasn't about to become the 1st US president to lose a war. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding the transcript. In fact, the audio tape might have been re-recorded and distributed to Youtube. nixon's stated plan was to 'stay the course' until he could pass the carnage and onus of the Viet Nam defeat on to his successor.

5 1/2 years and 33,000 dead Americans later, gerry ford finally airlifted the last Americans from the roof of the US Embassy. By that time the republican White House was busily preparing the way for the khmer rouge victory in Cambodia through incompetent leadership in Langley, and secret deals with the unpopular soon-to-be incompetent dictator lon nol.

BTW, around this time, the grossly incompetent General william westmoreland was running for Senate in VA as a (what else ?) republican.

XR, I can understand your anger, but I honestly think Ping is one of the good guys--a Republican in the better traditions of the party when most people on both sides of the aisle worked for thoughtful solutions to our country's problems. I bet you were that kind of Republican, as well.

  55. XR,

Thanks. About Nixon; yes you are right..but I don't think that Sea was talking about being right. Like me maybe she is tired of the blame game that goes on between the two party's. Johnson had the chance to get us out of there..but decided not too...

Have a nice Thanks giving day..You and Sweetie.

  56. patd....
yup.... some people consider themselves vegetarians even though they eat seafood. I remember from biology 101 that there are only 2 kinds of life on this planet.... flora and fauna. Although some things in the ocean are hard to classify. IMO, if it's not a plant and one is eating it, one is not a vegetarian.

As for myself.... my motto is: give me a good steak or give me death.... :0)

Posted by: RebelliousRenee Author Profile Page | November 25, 2009 4:31 PM

  57. Actually.... I need to modify my above post....

if it's not a plant... and one has to take it's life in order to eat it....
there are of course.... lacto vegetarians (includes dairy products).... ovo vegetarians (includes eggs) and lacto ovo vegetarians ( includes both dairy and eggs).... and then there are vegans.... who won't eat/and or use any animal products whatsoever....

  58. Oh for Cripps sake, they lost it? I think its just as bad to start to start a war. Each party contributed to that deplorable loss of lives. We all lost.

Isn't it wonderful holiday news to know more boys will be sent overseas , only come home in a box. Thank you democrats and of course republicans too- although they aren't the majority this time.

Hey Solar, thanks, you have a great day too, will read your post tomorrow to my Da (they have snuck off to a casino to avoid the chaos of the holiday).

Sadly the things I have a problem with him on aren't even on their RADAR!! Since the collard greens went with the prawn option, that wouldn't have been a problem. :-) The Coconut Basmati went with both options.
