obama needs to replace all of his top advisers 'they seem to be in constant never ending campaign mode'
they did an excellent job getting him elected' gaming the primaries and selling the media on the idea of the first black president'' but theyre not doing a very good job helping him actually be president '

everybody knows if you live long enough your going to do or say something stupid eventually' maybe even more than once
fox news has the money 'resources and time to go back and investigate everyone associated with the whitehouse 'find something embarrassing and run it as thier top story of the day
this anita dunn ''mao comments a classic example'
who ever in the white house thought up the attack fox news strategy should be fired

Loved both of Craig and Helen's responses to the fox situation. I didn't hear until this morning about the white house trying to cut the fox white house out of the interview yesterday. Was very happy to hear of the solidarity the others showed by refusing to attend themselves.

It's "fairly clear" that MoJo is trying to get into the good graces of the GOP, again. Darth Cheney was focused, not on Afghanistan, but on the profits of Halliburton and access to Iraqi oil for all of his second term and a good portion of the first term.
I could easily equate George W Bush with Dagwood Bumstead...and that would make Cheney Mr. Dithers.
mqw - I agree that Team Obama has not handled this well. I think they are trying to do what the far right has done so well. They want to set themselves up as victims; they want to look like martyrs. The problem is, people were already on their side. The far right would actually punch themselves in the eye to make it look real; the left doesn't have it in them.
Be true to yourself.

Slippery slope when the White House plays these games..

Yes, spend our money and resources on solving problems...created by the last administration. They left plenty of stinkers in the sandbox.
However, they are now your problems to solve, pointing fingers won't solve them and is best left up to the bloggers, and pretty soon folks will forget why something is wrong and only remember what you did about it.

from Billboard:
by Deborah Evans Price
Tanya TuckerOn her new project, "My Turn," Tucker covers classics by legendary male artists including Merle Haggard ("Ramblin' Fever"), George Jones ("Walk Through This World With Me"), Hank Williams ("Lovesick Blues") and Buck Owens ("Love's Gonna Live Here," the album's debut single). Due this year from Saguaro Road, a Direct Holdings/Time Life imprint, the CD includes an endorsement from Jones, who says, "There will never be a more distinctive voice in country music than Tanya's."

If you haven't heard it yet You Lie Joe Wilson's wife has the swine flu.
Will she be the next causality?
Also why haven't we heard if he's going to face a Article 15 or 88 under the UCMJ?
If he's retired at half pay from what I understand he still retains his commission and falls under the UCMJ.
If he's fully retired and resigned his commission than he does not fall under it.
Why is the silence so deafening on this.
Inquiring minds want to know.

I went to the Gerald R. Ford Museum many years ago when they had a Lincoln exhibit. Lincoln had a great sense of humor. They had telegrams that Lincoln and some of his Civil War generals traded back and forth. One general wasn't happy with the fact the Lincoln wanted to be constantly updated on the status of his generals and the war. One general sent Lincoln a telegram that read "Found some cows in a field. What do you want me to do?" Lincoln wrote back "Milk them."

Anon-P,
It's time to let it go. Joe Wilson has already gotten more free publicity than he deserves, and issuing Article 15's is definitely below the Commander-in-Chief's paygrade.
Even in the military every chargeable offense is not automatically carried to its toughest possible punishment.
It would be better to spend time and effort on helping Wilson's opponent get elected than on worrying about Wilson's status as a retired officer.

EdVB....
Because if he did not resign his commission than he's giving the lower ranks the right to call their CO's liars when their speaking to the troops. That's why.
A lower ranking grunt would be brought up on charges and would then argue that a commissioned officer did the same thing and was ignored, why should he then be charged.
I believe it has to do with the cohesion of the unit and military discipline.
You can not allow this in the ranks nor in the field it could brake down military order and endanger soldiers lives IMHO.
If Wilson retains his commission then he needs to be held accountable otherwise any soldier has the right to do the same thing.
We seen how many upper brass were held accountable in the use of torture by the military and also the cover up of Ranger Pat Tillman's murder. It was reported that he had a tight group of three in his head. That was not a accident, it was deliberate murder and a deliberate cover up.
I ofter wonder when the fragging of officers will begin over in Iraq and Afghanistan, just like in Vietnam.
If your Generals are corrupt or violate the UCMJ and become above the law then how long before our military falls apart?
Let him take responsibility for his actions and prove that he is a officer and not a enemy of the state.

Craig,
Thats right: Obama is the same; but different.
Lots of news about him restricting pay limits to the Bank Executives that are borrowing money from the government. He is a little late in doing this. He should have done it a year ago, when he gave out all of our money with no strings attached.
Didn't Bush do the same, when he gave out the Tarp money with no strings attached.?........no diff.!
The R's have their favorite News Organizations that they love to fight with. The D's have theirs. they both do it to get our mind off- of what is going on at the time, and or wants a distraction from themselves. No difference here. No; its just more of the same.!!
Didn't the last Administration say the same things. when they lied about the state of the economy??
POLL: Recovery? What Recovery?
ABC News-Washington Post Poll: 82 Percent Say Recession Is Not
From the public's perspective, the rumors of economic recovery are greatly exaggerated.
POLL: Recovery? What Recovery?
A demonstrator holds a sign reading "the American dream is over" during a rally outside Wall Street in New York April 4,2009. From the public's perspective, the rumors of economic recovery are greatly exaggerated.
(Shannon Stapleton/Reuters)
The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll put it this way: "Many economists say that using the standards they apply, the recession probably is over. Thinking about your own experience of economic conditions, would you say that from your point of view the recession is over, or not over?"
Result: Not over, 82 percent.

Flatus,
I read somewhere that the windows7 upgrade can slow down your computer a little, as opposed to buying a computer with windows7 already on it. I figured yours must have been an upgrade, but am not sure if you got a limited trial version or the whole thing.
They have an upgrade that will do three computers for $149., but I'm worried about the possibility of slowing down our computers. Deciding between that, or waiting a while and buying a new computer with 7.

I think it is silly to take this serious, this is the cable news wars, people can't seriously think this is anything more than a distraction, for all of us not happy with the progress our government isn't making on many fronts.
So the Administration throws their Left Base, some red meat - Fox News.
The weekend before this happened out in San Fransisco people on the "LEFT" were protesting the President, when he touched down for a 30,000.00 fund raiser. How do you spell appeasement?
Sometimes people need to pay attention to when the MEDIA is manipulating them. This doesn't hurt Fox News their ratings have gone up, people are tuning into see what the fuss is about. In fact Fox News is trying to make this into a bigger deal - trying to squeeze all the ratings they can out of it. It's funny, but when the news outlet becomes the news it's self. That's FARK.
Feedback for Olbermann, many enjoyed his spoof about being the number 1# rated cable news show now that Fox News is no longer considered a news outlet. The Hot Air folks thought that was a hoot. A lot of them saying Olbermann has a sense of humor, and that was pretty funny self deprecation comedy bit.
I did catch some Maddow last night. Imus was saying how she's pretty good so I tuned in last night. There was a segment on the predator drones being used in Pakistan to hunt Al Qaeda and Taliban, and questions about terms of engagement, it was really very informative. The woman Rachel was interviewing doesn't seem to understand the role NORAD plays though.

I've mostly given up on cable news shows with a few exceptions. One being the one Craig and Helen were on yesterday.... Rick Sanchez's show on CNN....
I put it on most weekdays in my studio while I finish up my last hour of weaving for the day. I will catch Rachel Maddow's show every now and then. I think she's funny and smart. Also Rick and I have a standing joke to tune into Anderson Cooper for the first 5-10 minutes in order to see what he's calling "the breaking news" of the day. Sometimes it's relevent.... but mostly it's just silly crap. I hardly call something like finding out balloon boy was a hoax or the seemingly endless stuff about Michael Jackson's death as "breaking news".

Anon,
My main point was that pursuing the Article 15 could, in some perverse way, help Wilson get re-elected and that may be a greater crime.
Just as Craig said in the White House vs. FOX News situation, it's better for the President to be seen "punching up not down." Of course, the President doesn't have to be the one who pursues the Article 15 charges, but it would certainly be spun as the White House exacting revenge even after the President accepted Wilson's apology.
And again paraphrasing Craig and President Truman, "It's not a crime for military officers to be dumb."
Furthermore, I don't pretend to know anything about the UCMJ other than having lived under it for a few years in the '60s, but I'll bet that there's a 50/50 chance that Wilson could beat the rap. He was, after all, acting in his capacity as a Representative of the great state of South Carolina at the time of his outburst, and not as a retired Army Reservist/National Guard Colonel.
If two Reservists are at work in the U.S. Treasury Department on Wednesday afternoon and one calls the other a liar (about whatever), does the guy deserve an Article 15 on Saturday because the alleged liar is in the same unit and outranks him?

In case anyone in here is still suffering under the delusion of the US having "The Best Medical Care In The World!", you should know that there is a shortage of the H1N1 vaccine. All the other developed countries have plenty. We don't. You see the majority of our vaccine is made elsewhere and they are taking care of their people first. .... fancy that. If you really, really want one, go to Canada.
We do manufacture vaccines but only had facilities for the usual seasonal strain and couldn't produce enough H1N1.

my two cents and sense of the impact of our newest journeyman:
how do we know there aren't more here on the trail of even younger persuasion? many a day an infantile remark crosses the path here (and i should know because i make some of them). like the bodysnatchers they're among us ready to take over.
like patsi, i too had a childhood mostly in adult company, a former childgenius too cute for her own good and a habitue of many a family tavern scene which helped tamper the sharper edges of immature behavior.
as jack suggests, youthful exuberance abates after awhile and even if not, scrolling works wonders.

Personally I believe that he should be charged under Article 88 of which this is the text in UCMJ below.
“Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”
You can read the elements involved at link below.
http://usmilitary.about.com/od/punitivearticles/a/mcm88.htm
The Article 15 is a NJP and the punishment is minor. There were other members who felt he should be charged so why hasn't he.
Is the UCMJ no longer applicable to the Military any longer or are Brass above their own law?
That's my point. Does his children have the right to call their commanding officers Liars now or even the parties mentioned in the text above for a Article 88 Court Martial exempt from the UCMJ?
I thought we had enough of the past administration who believed that they were above the law. The same law that we all have to live under.
Are we still a country where there is no rule of law or in other words a dictatorship where the government holds its citizens to a different standard then themselves?
If so than we are no better then any other third world country.
I'm getting off my soap box now and will be quiet for the rest of the day.
Have a good day all.

Bernie Sanders just mentioned a bill starting to make its way through Congress that will limit bank credit cards to the maximum allowed to Credit Unions at 15%. Currently some of the banks we bailed out are sending out letters with raises up to 29.9% on the balances "good credit" people.
At least the mafia just breaks your legs, they don't drive your family into bankruptcy and homelessness.
Call your Critter and tell them to support interest limits on all banks.

Chloe,
The versions I've been using are the complete products, not the upgrades.
The price of $148 for three sounds excellent. Go to the Microsoft Win 7 site to determine if the version they'll be selling has the features you want. If so, I wouldn't think twice about getting it at that price. Their web site also has a program for you to use so you'll be sure that your computers will be adequate.
If you're upgrading from XP, you'll end up doing a full, fresh install which isn't all bad because it will get rid of all the trash on your drive. Just make sure that you've backed-up all your document directories so that you don't lose something important.
So far as speed is concerned, if someone's machine was running well on XP, it will generally run at least as well under Win 7. Understand, though, that computers grow long in the tooth at an alarming rate. I wouldn't spend a heck of lot of money doing system upgrades to an older low-end computer--I don't think it would be money well spent.
There's nothing wrong with using an old minimalist machine as a home server for multi-media and backups. Easy to do.

What aspects are you grading? The only two on there who actually claim to be a newspeople: Rick Sanchez and Anderson Cooper. I think both of them are about A- or B. I really enjoy Rick Sanchez. Some of their commentary may be shallow, but it is usually factual as far as it goes.
Of the commentators and their factual content then I would grade a bit differently
Bill O F Hannity F; Olbermann B - all are slanted, but Olbermann has a higher truth quotient and will correct errors if found which the other two don't.
Matthews C but only because he aggravates me with the attitude of superiority. I understand the Latin without him translating and explaining in detail at least three times and congratulating himself for having gone to a university.
Ed Schultz C - Again slanted but no obvious errors. Just over the top noisy partisanship and frequently boring when yelling over his guests.
Rachel gets an A - She may be totally partisan, but she is smart will correct an error if pointed out and is a fun person to watch while being courteous to her guests including the ones with which she disagrees, I really want to go to a party where she is mixing the drinks and chatting.

That is because women were not subject to those coverings during the life time of Muhammed. The coverings only came after the 7th Century expansion, and the slow adoption of Greek and Persian customs, including the cloistered harem. Within 2 centuries, Muhammed would not have recognized his religion. and culture in what had grown up. The oppressive and mean-spirited religion of Hanbal, adopted these foreign culture traits while claiming to be returning to the original Islam. Hanbal is now represented by Wahabbism and alqaeda i- nothing like the religion and culture of Muhammed.
I own 2 translations of the Noble Koran, though translations were forbidden by Muhammed. One is by a Jewish Israeli, and it is a (relatively) mild and generous Koran. I mean, compared to the bloodthirsty hate-filled speeches writings, and rulings of 'st.' john chrysostom, 'st' ambrose, alcuin, justinian, chintila, wamba, etc. The other is a Wahabbist translation by a Pakistani cleric, and it is a hate filled and mean-spirited book more in the vein of the Christians mentioned above.
So, I asked a Mutazilist Muslim doctor I met when I had spinal surgery, if he would look at them and tell me if either was an accurate translation. He answered that one could make reasonable arguments for either of them, but the Israeli version was very scholarly, and translated words more in the sense that they had at the time Muhammed recited them. The Wahabbist version used conotations that evolved later. So, apparently, the originalist interpretations differ somewhat from the evolving Koran interpretations, both of which Muhammed declared in advance to be satanic.

From a comcast.news:
"He doesn't like conflict, he doesn't like taking on the corporate powers - he demonstrated that as senator of Illinois and senator in the US Senate. He is what might be called a concessionary personality, a harmony ideology," Nader said. "In Washington, you project that from the White House and the shark tank known as the Congress will eat you alive."
Nader said Obama has "lost huge momentum" in his attempt to overhaul the health care industry, in part because "he's turned his back on liberals and progressives who elected him. He doesn't invite them, for the most part, to the White House, but he invites the CEOs of the drug companies, of the auto companies, of the banks, and he bails out these crooks on Wall Street."
As for his political aspirations, Nader did not indicate whether he would mount another presidential bid. But he said he wanted to see "a major, historical, progressive convention convened to sort of elevate the whole progressive movement, with a thorough agenda of empowerment and substantive justice, and very substantial financial resources."
"The progressive movement - if it's not demoralized, it's fractured," Nader said. "It doesn't have a sense of pride and identity for what its forebears delivered to the American people."
Secondly, Nader said, "Maybe this book will stimulate some billionaires and mega-millionaires who are enlightened and of advanced age and have no axe to grind, who will come forward and take [on] their great cause."

I also like Rachel. I don't see Olberman and Schultz as being much better than the Fox crowd.
They both use many of the same techniques of right wing talk radio..personal attacik, obnoxious imitating of their opponents, etc..
Watching 1 hour of Frontline is more productive than a month of Fox or MSNBC.
I tend to stick to CNN because there is more straight news.
The problem, in my view with Fox and MSNBC is that they both play to an audience who, for the most part, just want to hear their own views reinforced.

I had a great grandfather on either side of that conflict. While I understand the historical affection of the stars and bars, the uses it was put to at later dates is anathema. It certainly doesn't belong flying over any government building, and people who display it prominantly may need to have their motives questioned.
The problem with benign objects put to bad use, is that they can never escape the association. It's like "Little Black Sambo" ... a sweet story about a well loved, smart Indian Boy of courage and initiative.
When the title moves to the US and is associated with stereotypes about pancakes, you have a book whose history is too ugly to share with children.

Dark-Lord,
You almost sound like my grandfather who was born in 1873. He liked the old adage "kids should be seen and not heard" from the early 15th Century. My wife and I taught our children manners and respect for other people. They in turn have taught their children manners and respect. I always liked Art Linkletter's "Kid's Say the Darndest Things," just look at the "balloon boy."
You appear to have the concept that kids should be invisible or you seem to consider them disruptive urchins or maybe even fear them. If this is your attitude, would hope that you don't have children or even worst grandchildren.
What I have difficulty understanding is that anyone is still talking about me168. He must have had an impact.

Re Civil War: same here. My example would be my dad's great grandfathers. His dad's grandfather fought for the Union, while his mother's grandfather fought for the Confederacy.
Having said that, I agree: those flags had their time, and their place, and it's not here and now. I don't mind them in reenactments, but flying over state houses and etc., I don't approve. Drives my brother, who's an unreconstructed redneck, nuts that I don't. The Civil War is still, in a way, being fought on the family level.

I get the majority of my global news from BBC America. Then CNN for general coverage plus CSPAN for raw footage of political activities.
I truly can't watch Fox during the morning or the evening. It is just too distorted. With MSNBC I can get info to Google and chase down for accuracy. There is a slant but it is more in the way they use adjectives and verbs rather than outright lies.

Jamie,
I think it is the symbolism, and I do see the flag here and there. One of my Favorite bands is Lynyrd Skynrd, and Southerners are stereotyped. Senator James Webb has tried to explain, what the rebel flag represents to Southerners vs what it symbolizes to others.
My Family joined the Union, even the ones from VIRGINIA. We did have cousins who joined the Confederacy, Addiison Fairfax, if you want to see a photo of him in uniform, I would be glad to share it. The Fairfaxs were living in Prince William Co.,Va., and our 5th Great Grandfather William "Billy" Fairfax died in 1848. His grandson my 3rd Great Grandfather Alexander Fairfax Cooksey joined the Union Army up in Dubuque, Iowa -he died during the war of disease in Memphis. His cousins the Blakeneys, were back in Virginia in the Northern Neck, their mother Caroline (Fairfax) Blakeney, would be Alexander's Aunty. So the War breaks out, and the Blakeney boys decide, they are going to join up on the Union side so they go on up to D.C. Baltimore area. Their parents had died, and that left 2 younger sisters. The youngest Caroline Blakeney, ends up in another one of our Fairfax cousins care. Isaac and Sue (Young) Fairfax, she calls em Uncle and Aunt but actually Isaac is her mother's 1st cousins. William Fairfax's younger brother John Hezekiah Fairfax's son Isaac. So her brothers go off, and join the Union Army, and leave her with the Confederate side of the family. Caroline Blakeney is living with Isaac and Sue Fairfax in Westmoreland Co.,Va., and she relayed this story that got passed down through the Fairfax side of the family, how her Aunt Sue Fairfax, got a big cauldron? of hot water, and poured it all over the Yankees invading their property :) Imagine being a little girl during the Civil War, and your yard is being invaded by "the enemy" and the woman you think of as your Aunty is fighting them off with buckets of hot water... luckily it wasn't her brothers LOL!

Hi, Fair. I just went to your site to leave a comment and ask some questions, and couldn't without signing up with that blogstream thing. I gave it a good shor but they wanted so much info from me about what I intended etc. that I gave up. Do I have to go thru those contortions? All I wanted to do was to leave a comment on your site.
I also like Rick Sanchez - didn't he go to Fox for a while? Who is C Anderson? I check into KO occasionally and have heard him use some names
like troglodite that I don't think add to the discourse.
I like Don Lemon, also. Cooper can be weird but he can also make some cogent comments. Wolf can be so stupid. I just have a hard time listening to almost any news these days - it's mostly people being affronted or offended, and trying to strike back. I get a lot of news from you guys - anything horrendous I know you'll be here squawking! HA! Schulz is way too much of a mediocre thing.
I also wish Hillary were pres.

Hey, Bethy--I think what's happening over there is that the 'Stream has been flooded (no pun intended) lately with spammers trying to sell stuff, opening blogs and leaving solicitations in the comments section, which led to a sort of backlash from the administrator, so he's tightened up. Are you on Facebook or Twitter? If so, you can leave comments at either place, or send 'em direct to ktartiste@aol.com. Glad you're visiting over there!:)

He doesn't need to be in uniform.....

If he retained his commission than he violated the UCMJ.

Very classy Master Me. It takes a big man to say "sorry." Saying it early and often is the key to growth and maturity.
Has your grandfather bought that book for you? He must be done reading his copy by now, ask him if you can borrow it. Quick read, you'll have it finished before the next school bell rings.

No I don't. I too have tried to see if I could find out and there is no information available that I could find as to whether or not he resigned his commission and is retired at full pay or whether or not he retained his commission and retired at half pay.
Appears that no one is talking as there is no information available that I'm aware of.
Something like that should be available somewhere one would think.

Patd,
I'll have to get back to you on that. Do you remember which Sura. Both books are up in the attic, arguing with each other.
Mx Lewis,
I ain't fussin' 'bout y'all.
Seriously, there is a 'confederacy of the heart', to borrow the language of Paul. I don't see a speck of this attitude about you.
The attitude excuses the attacks upon the US and it's postal, customs and miltary, and naval employees prior to thedecaration of war, and the attack on the US installation at Fort Sumter. It also excuses the perpetration of what we would now call war crimes and crimes against humanity in the the South, the border states, and also Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, and New York, and the enslavement and inhumane treatment of other human beings. This attitude generated the attacks on Ken Burns for his excellent Civil War series. Today, it generates the disgusting racial attacks on President Obama.
I am happy that you are on the Trail.

Flatus,
Thanks so much for all the good information on Windows 7. You told me everything I was wondering about. I'll do as you suggested, and go to the Win 7 site and read what they have to say too.
When I said that we can get Windows 7 for three computers for $149, I'm not sure if I said it's an upgrade. I'm not sure that's the same thing you're talking about.
We'd be converting from Vista, not XP, and the computers aren't that old (less than a year), but it's been my experience that the laptops don't usually have a long life if you use them a lot (and two of the computers I'm talking about are laptops, which I prefer btw). One of the laptops is a business edition, so that may make a difference too.
You know, once of the reasons I'm having trouble deciding is because I have no problems whatsoever with Vista on any of the computers I'm talking about. I think I'm just anxious to try something that's new, and wish I wouldn't get in such a hurry.
I appreciate all the information, and once I check out that site you referred me to, I'll make a decision. Thanks again.

.. one for the road:
Bank failures top 100, only part of industry woes
"The cascade of bank failures this year surpassed 100 on Friday, the most in nearly two decades. And the trouble in the banking system from bad loans and the recession goes even deeper than the number suggests.
Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of other banks remain open even though they are as weak as many that have been shuttered. Regulators are seizing banks slowly and selectively — partly to avoid inciting panic and partly because buyers for bad banks are hard to find" http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091024/ap_on_bi_ge/us

Gotcha, X. That's my brother's kind of Confederacy, one that excuses all in the name of the Lost Cause.
About all that, he and I live in two separate worlds. He thinks the great great grandfather who fought for the Union was a traitor--while I think of both of them, Unionist and Confederate, as brave men who fought for something they believed in, and let it go at that.
It's still a complicated issue for southerners, and that is my only excuse for jumping you as I did--an inadequate excuse, but true. FWIW, one reason I seldom watch Keith Olbermann anymore--except when Craig's on--is because he lumps all southerners into that unreconstructed category, based on the behaviors of certain southern politicians--the Joe Wilson types.
Thank you for explaining what you meant.

I've spent a lot of time in rural GA the last few years. I've found a few unreconstructed racist loudmouths down there. Plus some middle class Whites who hate (not too strong a word) poor people. White or Black poor people. Also, some folks who seem to think that pimping and johning are activities protected by the Constitution. Of course, we have that in the North, too.
It's just that the self-justifications and excuses seem louder down there. IMO. People are more polite, maybe 'cuz they are seething w/animosity, and are afraid that if it springs a leak, all hell will break loose.
All that negative stuff said, I still like it down there. Why else would I keep going back ?

Were you aware of it at the time?, I mean 'really' aware that you were ahead of others your age. I was wondering if that extra intelligence some children (babies?) get at a very early age, is because their brain develops so much faster? I've heard some amazing stories of toddlers reading, etc. at an extremely young age. And I know Purples grandson seems unusually bright and aware for his age. Just curious (about all things involving the mind).

Flu-like illnesses now higher than at peak of seasonal flu season
"Pandemic H1N1 influenza activity continues to spread throughout the country, with 46 states reporting widespread activity, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported."
As for the swine flu vaccine, which has been slower in arriving than federal authorities had expected, Frieden said that 16.1 million doses are now available and that at least 11.3 million of them had been shipped as of Wednesday, an increase of 5.4 million doses from the previous week. He said a lot more doses would be available soon, but he refused to predict how many and when. "We've had difficulties with projections so far," he said. "Vaccine production is much less predictable than we would wish," he added. "We are nowhere near where we thought we would be by now, or where the manufacturers had predicted we would be. Vaccination is our strongest tool, and not having enough of it is enormously frustrating." http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-sci-swine-flu24-2009oct24,0,2748081.story

In Cleveland Heights we had wonderful public libraries--Andrew Carnegie would have been proud. I was a regular fixture in them. It didn't take long for me to master the nuances of the Dewey Decimal System.
I had a fascination with stamps which translated into an appreciation of the geography and the history reflected in them.
I used to get massive boxes full of stamps from around the world. I believe they were snipped from envelopes by cloistered nuns.

Yes and they do it by contracting for the production with profit making corporations here in the States. Of course they do get a lot from France just by buying it. France has plenty too, but then they have that awful Socialistic medicine with the number 1 rating on all health statistics world wide.

Flatus,
yeah I know about the Fed Pens making furniture. There is a low security Fed Pen here in FT Worth. They make or used to make furniture. When I was in HS that used to be a Drug Hospital. My best friend's dad was #2 in charge there. Stymie of the Little Rascals was their houseboy. Then in the mid 80's it became a prison called FCI. At one time FCI was a farm but they sold off a very significant amount of the land around the prison so that ended that.
