  2. As awful as the below story may seem, what is even more news worthy is the fact that we the US don't have enough H1N1 vaccines on hand to inoculate all our citizens. I think at this time we have enough to inoculate 48 million, and this flu has been sweeping through our college campus.

Jamie, I think it's both. Groveling and milking, plus he is one himself. I'm sure he believes it all.

Aside from all of that, he's a very likable, funny guy. But I sure wouldn't want him leading our country.

I saw that flu story yesterday TIR. But I linked a story about a week or so ago that we have too many vaccines for here, and may be donating some of them to other countries that need them.

I'll see if I can find it.

  10. Craig,

Haven't we had enough of the Crusaders? Lets get an Atheist in there...the first thing that she/ he would do is to make the Religions, and tier money laundry fronts...is to take away the ability to not pay any taxes.....just a wish I know...but its Sunday, and a miricle could happen no?

    Sturg,

Sorry if I interrupted any other post that you might have wanted to put up this morning: I did enjoy that one about the pig...seems like most of us will be products for sale at the butcher shop......About pigs ( Bores) In Mexico on our farm, when I was just a little piglet. There was going to be a big fiesta, and my father had a huge bore for the feast locked up in a shed, inside of a coral.

They must have not tied me- up tight enough (I was always getting loose from them-they said) they weren't watching me close enough, and I got away and went into the coral.... I managed to get the door to the shed opened, ( I wanted to see what was making all of the noise that was coming from it) and let the boar out.. .I guess that at first it was a little confused and ran away from me...I ran after it; that is until if figured out that he nothing to fear from me, and started to chase me.

The noise was heard by my uncle Sal. ( he was a cop in 4 diff countries...including here in the us..loved to travel the world) My family told me that he went outside to investigate , and saw that I was in a little bit of a jam (my life story)... ( later when I was older, I told him that I could have taken that bad ass- boar..) and rescued me, just as this boar was about to take a bite out of may ass...he reached in and grabbed me; he lost the tip of one of his fingers..his middle finger...he say's that when he gives someone the finger...he only half means it....hahaha he was a lot of fun....hope that the devil is enjoying he company...

  14. I haven't found the article yet, but this one says we ordered 195 million doses:

"One dose means tight supplies of H1N1 vaccine won't be stretched so badly after all. The U.S. has ordered 195 million doses, based on the hope that 15 micrograms was indeed the right dose. Had it taken twice that dose, or two shots apiece, half as many people could have received the vaccine." http://www.miamiherald.com/living/health/healthAP/story/1226602.html

  15. "Lets get an Atheist in there."

The problem is though, that wouldn't be a good label to run under. I don't think a candidate running as an atheist would make it, because that would automaticaly illiminate to large of a portion of the population (voters).

Religions can't hurt us Solar, as long as they stay in the churches and outside of government.

  20. I remember watching the '64 republican convention, and the buckley conservatives putting out lit cigarettes on a Black delegate's his sports jacket.

Silly me, I thought it was just an ephemeral aberration. Unfortunately, the party pulled a Munich and appeased these racists. By 1972, the republicans had accomplished racial exclusion everywhere in the party but in Massachusetts. By '76 the republican party had made itself Afro-rein - with the exception of eldridge cleaver.

I also remember harrassment of the tv people in the '68 Dem convention, and a couple of later republican conventions. Maybe someone else can remember the dates of the republican rudenesses for me.

  25. This From Dan Foomkin at HuffPo...

"It's self-evident to pretty much everyone not on Wall Street or Capitol Hill that the nation's financial laws need some serious reform, particularly when it comes to corporate governance, reining in outrageous bonuses and salaries, adopting rules that stop fat-cats from taking dangerously overleveraged risks with the taxpayers as their backstop, and protecting the consumer from deceptive practices. The meting out of a little punishment to the irresponsibly greedy wouldn't hurt, either."

"All of which makes the time ripe for a grassroots reform movement."

"But one thing that's become abundantly clear during the health-care debate is that you can't count on President Obama to lead a populist revolt. His impulse is to find common ground, not grab a pitchfork, and that's especially true when it comes to his approach to people who make a lot of money. And even if he wanted to, his credibility to lead such a movement has been terribly undermined by his role in bailing out the banks and the big auto companies."

"So who will lead? And how many people will join in?"

  26. My answer to Dan Foomkin is that Huckabee (or some other Republican) will lead the populist revolt against Wall Street. This will be the GOP strategy for 2010 & 2012.

They will attack Obama & the Dems as being the servants of the big bankers (which they are).

This (fake) "populist" revolt will be financed by corporate lobbyists who will also supply astroturf crowds of "angry voters" which will be covered by the MSM as a real "protest movement."

    It could work.

Once back in control, the Republicans will not, of course, do a damn thing to control Wall Street.

The fabled Republican fashion houses displayed their wares in Washington today, hoping to lure the 2012 candidates to their brands. Among the delicious designs unveiled were these catchy items, beginning with the positive Willard Romney messages -

Luntz Style : Get Mitt !
Rove Creations : Got Mitts On?
Cheney Fascions : Gott Mitt Uns !

And, now the proposed negative messages -

Luntz Style : Shut the Huck Up !
Rove Creations : Huck : Lyin' & Stinker
Cheney Fascions : Huck Loves (heart) Iran

Here are some choice positive Michael Huckabee messages -

Luntz Styles : Jesus Loves (Huck) We Do Too
    Rove Creations : He's A Real Huck
Cheney Fascions : Feith, Huck, and Clarity.

And, now for the selection of negatives for Huckabee supporters. The Luntz Style selection is targeted for the Mormon belt, and follows on the heels of news that Romney has chosen Minnesota Governor Potholes Aplenty to be his running mate, despite the fact that the Governor recently confessed to enjoying Summit Pale Ale, and August Schell's Bock Beer.

Lunts Styles : Huck and Tim vs The Dupe and the Dope Fiend

Speaking of 2d & 3d century rewrites of the Jesus story and its meaning, why is it that Little Herod, the Jewish Judge, found "no fault in him", whereas the gentile judge, poncho pilate, condemned Jesus to be murdered on a cross ? Was this just another case of a squishy soft left-wing Jewish judge letting a hardened criminal off ? Or, was it another case of those clannish Jews sticking together against Western Civilization as we then knew it ?

  42. You're horribly wrong, Nash. Jesus IS a Jewish liberal.

Btw, Norway way once Catholic. The horrifically violent Harald Hardrada (Harold Bad News, d.1066), who pillaged and burned his way across what is now Ukraine, who pillaged and burned for Byzantium across the Mediterranean, and who later cut off the Byzantine Emperor's nose and abducted the Empress in a labor dispute, who was King of Norway and Iceland, and heir to the English Crown, was a good Catholic, the dutiful nephew of an obnoxiously proud and blood-thirsty Norwegian glutton/king/saint. Even the State Church Lutherans of Norway consider Olaf Magnusson to be their patron saint, and Harald Hardrada to be his dutiful nephew, a sort of 2d coming.

There is a great deal of value in being Libertarian, but until they learn where to draw the line on public / private, it will never sell on the national level. Maybe if they picked three or four things that they felt were so valuable to the world as a whole that they were worth being an entitlement no matter what the individual could afford to contribute, then there might be a chance.

Even the earliest societies reached those basic agreements of safety and advancement. Of course what those items are is the source of the argument.

Max, the only one I watched was the Stephanopoulos one. And I listened to that with only half an ear. I already knew what he was going to say--the meaningless mumbles intended to calm the electorate.

    Single-Payer Single-Payer Single-Payer. The time is now.

115 million sounds like a lot, but the real question is where and in what concentration. In a population of nine billion people before 2050 we will have a lot worse problems that whether 1/10 of 1% can remember where they are.

By then they will simply be killed off as a waste of food, water, and air simply because there won't be any ice floes left on which to send them out to sea.

    Good morning all,

    "Reform or Bust"

"I was startled last week when Mr. Obama, in an interview with Bloomberg News, questioned the case for limiting financial-sector pay: “Why is it,” he asked, “that we’re going to cap executive compensation for Wall Street bankers but not Silicon Valley entrepreneurs or N.F.L. football players?”

That’s an astonishing remark — and not just because the National Football League does, in fact, have pay caps. Tech firms don’t crash the whole world’s operating system when they go bankrupt; quarterbacks who make too many risky passes don’t have to be rescued with hundred-billion-dollar bailouts. Banking is a special case — and the president is surely smart enough to know that.

All I can think is that this was another example of something we’ve seen before: Mr. Obama’s visceral reluctance to engage in anything that resembles populist rhetoric. And that’s something he needs to get over."

    Max

I'm well aware of Black liberation theology. Yes their Jesus is much more militant and darker. Given the politics of the time, I don't image that either the wimpy sweet Jesus meek and mild and the rouse the rabble against the Romans model is completely accurate.

Michael Baigent is investigating a grisly crime. He’s tracking down leads, digging for clues, and trying to shed new light on a cold case— a case that is 2,000 years old. And this isn’t just any case: It is perhaps, the most well known story in history—the crucifixion of Jesus.

Sara James, Dateline correspondent: You believe that much of what we think we know about Jesus is a lie?

Michael Baigent, author: It’s a lie. It’s an obvious lie.

Tony, it's Bloomberg fuhchrissakes. But isn't the salary cap for the team, not individual players? And it doesn't extend to coaches, GMs etc. does it? Otherwise, you are right on.

Yes, is the answer that Jamie should give you, and not an excuse to keep the same people that got us into this situation in the first place..There are at least three things that are a given, and that all Americans take it for....first is Military security, 2nd, financial security, third infrastructure....there are more...like environment, and going green, and energy conservation, and the one that they promise, but never-ever keep......Bipartisan....from the middle, we can keep this one...since we want some ideas from both parties...not just from one or the other:

One other thing that we can campaign on; is that voters won't have to pick from the less of the two evil's .....there should be at least 3 to choose from....
