Now it's the liberals' turn to start yelling.
The "dumbikazes" on the right, as a pal of mine calls them, seemed to have spooked Capitol Hill with their high profile ranting at town hall meetings. The result is dwindling support, even at the White House, for offering a government-run public option to those who can't get or afford private insurance.
Unless supporters of a public option go dumbikaze whatever comes to be called "health reform" will be incremental at best.

Where are the senators speaking out in support of the public option all I see are the ones dissing it.
Time to get in the face.
Ask the simple question are you bought and paid for by the insurance companies. Just repeat it over and over.

Grassley is running scared of his base.
It is time to call him out on his BS and make all of Iowa pay attention to his pandering to the extreme right and not serving all Iowa.
How about some ads with family farmers having to choose , "do I get treatment for the cancer and loose everything or do I die but preserve my families future"

Dumbikaze just doesn't sit well with the people who actually understand the issues, but unfortunately it is the dining room table types that get the cameras.
The more Obama tries to sound like a professor explaining the issues in the face of the slogans scrawled on signs, the more likely we are to get nothing.
We need signs to shove in the critters faces:

Pelosi should have kept her mouth shut, but obviously the WH didn't do their prep before hte President spoke. I am surprised at your comments however. I am going the Whole Foods today at the Time Warner building to show my support for their CEO. This bright move in vilifying him will decrease public support for the shouting Left. The screamers on the Left are late to the ball and the public will see this as simply counterdumbikazing and also revealing what the Democrats always had in mind. Calling the CEO an evil or bad man is politically stupid.
I didn't see anything on Axelrod's copying Cheney with that 2 million owed by the company he landed ad money for on healthcare commericals. I guess Obama is copying the Cheney days. Stewart did not make his point last night in even refuting the claims by a supporter of healthcare reform that has trouble with the Pelosi package including death panels. No wonder the Senate removed such poorly worded passages.
Fox is scared about the co-op strategy and is happy to see you all fight for the public option. By the time anyone can figure out how to impliment the Bill, the election will be sure to decrease Democratic advantage. I ca't decide if this is a repeat of Carter or Clinton. And Blonde, Grassley at least pointed to some studies. Democrats base their projections on wishful thinking and fuzzy details.

Forget who publishes the Washington TImes, the story is true and Iran selects a terrorist to be Defense Head: http://www.washtimes.com/news/2009/aug/21/iranian-defense-minister-terrorist/
Another site that is questioned here also repeats this pathetic story:
"Ahmadi Vadhidi, whom President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has designated Iran's next defense minister, was head of the notorious al Qods Brigades which ordered and organized the bombing attack on the Jewish center in Buenos Aires in 1994 that left 84 people dead.
Interpol has issued an international warrant for his arrest for this crime. (See attached photo)
Al Qods is responsible for the Revolutionary Guards terrorist operations in foreign countries. For the attack on the Jewish center, Vadhidi used Hizballah operatives with whom he was acquainted from his days as commander of the IRGC's Lebanon Corps in the 1980s.
He was especially close to Hizballah's bombing and abduction expert, the late Imad Mughniyeh. Together, they plotted and executed the kidnapping of a series of high-ranking Western officials in those years, among them William Buckley and Col, Richard Higgins.
Buckley, the CIA station chief in Lebanon, was snatched in 1984, the first senior US intelligence official to be interrogated under torture by joint teams employed by Vadhidi and Mughniyeh. He did not survive the ordeal.
Four years later, the due captured Col. William Richard ("Rich") Higgins, the highest-ranking US military and intelligence officer in Lebanon at the time. He too was tortured to death in the attempt by Iranian agents to extract the secrets of US Middle East operations.
Vadhidi has been employed in recent years at home base in Tehran, latterly as deputy defense minister with responsibility for "aerodynamic development" i.e. missiles. He has also served as head of the ministry's planning department and head of the Expediency Council's political-security commission.
The Iranian president is poised to unveil his cabinet in the coming days. Composed mainly of his most brutal cronies and loyal yes-men - as well as three women for the first time - it faces the opposition of large sections of parliament who threaten to withhold endorsement."
Obama has more to face than just Healthcare problems and he didn't sound like Jope Namath predicting victory on any fronts. I will add however, it appears that Meshud is really dead. Kudos to the administration.

Obama to Seek "Birther" Compromise
The White House today announced that President Obama would seek a "bi-partisan compromise on the issue of my citizenship."
"I'm eager to work with Republicans to determine whether or not I am, in fact, a native born U.S. citizen," the President said.
"While I would prefer to think that I was born in Hawaii, I'm willing to listen opposing views. It could be that I was born in Kenya but have U.S. citizenship because my mother was a citizen, or it could be that I am an illegal immigrant."
A "gang of six" U.S. senators is working on a proposal to declare that Obama was born on a ship in the Atlantic Ocean halfway between the U.S. and Africa.
Said one of the Senators, who spoke on condition of anonymity, "This would make him a stateless person but we're thinking that we could try a constitutional amendment so that he could retain the office. Until the matter is settled, of course, he will have to be held in Gitmo."

Max,
Among Whole Food CEO John Mackey's recommendations is one that would remove federal mandates for what health insurance must include. Think about that for a moment. Insurance companies, in order to compete on cost, would quickly drop treatment for a whole variety of illnesses. Let's take for example mental illness. Few people think they will need this coverage (unless they already have the unpleasant experience). And it is expensive when it occurs. So what then happens to those who choose a policy that does not cover it when they wind up with the illness? Who pays then? How is that an improvement over where we are now?
What about cancer, heart disease. These are diseases that increase with age. So the young would buy policies that don't include coverage. The old would not but policies that cover maternity costs. Everyone would be gaming the system. The whole point of insurance is to build a large enough pool of participants to spread the exceptional costs.
Mackey's proposal should be rejected if for no other reason than that. He might be a good grocer, but as an insurance expert Mackey's a lackey.
Posted by: cajunjoe.pip.verisignlabs.com
| August 21, 2009 10:49 AM
And Max,
Here's Mackey's actual quote:
Repeal government mandates regarding what insurance companies must cover. These mandates have increased the cost of health insurance by billions of dollars. What is insured and what is not insured should be determined by individual customer preferences and not through special-interest lobbying.

Hi Tony, What I was actually referring to was xrepub following quote: "There is hardly anyone more vulnerable to Commercial Child Sex Abuse, than homeless gay adolescents." I was thinking that 'all' homeless adolescents are vulnerable to Child Sex Abuse.
I wholeheartedly support and admire your stance for Gay Civil Rights, but also agree with you that it all breaks down to "just civil rights" and equality for all - the same rights for everyone. To me, that's as clear as can be.

That's right Diva. The only way to get the truth out there, to make people understand, is to make them aware of real happenings, real stories. Once we make it personal, people will care, and be aware, ahead of time, that these things can and will happen to them.

That is what makes health care a "natural monopoly". Usually when people hear "monopoly" they think that there is something wrong, but there are certain things (which can be argued) that are so important to a well ordered society that they can't be left up to the individual or to competition.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_monopoly
Some "natural monopolies" - Fire, police, army etc.
Protecting just the "insured" at various levels but not the "uninsured" endangers the whole of society.
Health care needs to include everyone and virtually everything other than the totally elective. The size of the pool is paramount to spreading the costs and services over the widest possible group. It cannot be a "for profit" condition.

Pick any local TV station in the nation. At the very least once a week they will cover the "human interest" story of a child needing medical care and a family needing support because a parent needs to quit work to become a care giver.
That is why I am so disgusted with the Republicans and Blue Dogs right now. It is absolutely criminal that the health of a nation is being held hostage by money grubbing, high living, profit motive insurance companies that contribute ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the health care system.
They rake in the cash. Keep a third or more and then pay back out what they have to to continue to rake in even more cash.
No docotrs, no nurses, no hospitals, no medicines, not even so much as a bandaid. They make nothing, erect nothing, fix nothing. Just slurp up dollars and spit out pennies.

As I believe has been pointed out here before, 20 - 30 cents out of every health insurance dollar goes to administration and profit for the insurance company. That is before a single penny goes to pay for the expensive health care itself. When people rail against any 'public option' or Medicare, think about that. Our for-profit insurance companies have only one mission -- to make profit for themselves. Everything else is designed to advance that mission. They have no particular motive to ensure affordable, effective, efficient, universal, compassionate, or any other kind of health care. Just profitable health care.

The ones most likely to be corporate shills are the for profit medical groups such as those run by certain Republican doctors who can diagnose via You Tube.

Among the many aspects of the healthcare debate that has caused a lot of a lot of heat but not much light is the concept of rationing.
The fact is, health care is already rationed. It is rationed by quasi-regulatory agencies and it is rationed by insurance companies. You need a heart transplant? You won't get one unless you are considered a 'candidate.' What about if your doctor believes that everyone should have a full-body MRI every year? Rationed by the insurance company. CPR time in the emergency room? Guess what...someone decides you're dead eventually.
No matter who is paying, the government, and insurance company, your mom and dad, aunt Tilda, everyone sooner or later is going to reach a point that the scarce resource (money, hearts, machines) will be better utilized elsewhere.
So the cry that health reform will lead to rationing is specious. We're already, thankfully, there.

And yet Sweden didn't dare to republish any Mohammad cartoons. Nor did Yale. The double standard is quite disgusting.
Joe, some points I agree with but your claim about rationing defies logic. Without increasing the number of doctors, adding the "47" million to the rolls will spread out service. Compare the MAss program to Georgia, Compare waiting time. Then take a look at the HealthyNY program which is a good indication of a "government" plan and see what they don't cover. Blue Cross said." You can't expect this basic plan to cover everything the more expensive plan covers".
Why is your logic faulty? If A is true then B is true? If we have rationing now, rationing can't get worse? Seems that is not supported. And as long as CBO challenges the cuts in Medicaid and Medicare proposed, you can't prove that there will not be MORE rationing.
I see few if any rejected the attack on Mackey at Whole Foods. The Lefty leading this charge told FOX he was a bad man. DO you think this will play to Independents? If the Democrats lose the majority in 2010 before anyone has the IQ to figure out how to enact the Healthcare plan, Republicans will throw up road bloacks. You cannot take such a bipartisan issue and make it a Liberal one. I suggest people are planning to compound problems, not be more realistic.
If you think Hillary would support such a move. I think you are dead wrong. Chloe getting the kind of treament that Sean is getting for everyone with the Democrat's thinking will not happen. If you think that our medical care system could have been created by government without corporate America and the idea of profit, you are wrong. I wish that people would not read into what Sean has said. I cost a fortune to develope the drugs he is taking. There are senible ways to reduce cost and the idea that some have in mind will turn out to be a disaster. Polls simply do not back up the Left's battle cry. I can post a thousand fantastic outcomes and the more people decry profit (excess is bad), the more this fight takes on the quality of the poor v the okay. The idea to enlarge the General Welfare Clause is exactly the warning Republicans make. Under that idea Goverment is supreme. Instead of stepping back and being non-ideological, Democrats are playing is all wrong.
The biggest joke is that Hillary would play it the same way and merely WIN.
Got to get back to join the working crowd......

Betsy McCaughey is a famous liar who famously lied about the Clinton health care bill back in the 1990s, who has returned to lie just as famously in the aughts about the Obama health care bill. Last night, she made an appearance on The Daily Show in a two(plus)-part interview with host Jon Stewart, which centered on her latest, greatest distortion: that the current health care reform package wending its way through the House contains provisions that would enforce draconian consultations imposing conditions upon both patients in end-of-life circumstances and the doctors treating said patients. This falsehood, first promulgated by McCaughey, later came to be colloquially referred to as "death panels."

Chloe,
Sean said that he was planning to switch to a business plan and was lucky not to have gotten caught in between coverages. Iam am moving to a business plus one plan and will enjoy similar coverage. I do want costs to come down, but I do not see where Sean said the public option will do that. I did not see him vilify his care or treament. In fact, he is lucky to enjoy the coverage. The question is whether his coverage is realistic for evey American or that lowering costs come by vilify all profit and eciding the unfair advantage of government programs can really improve the private sector but rather destroy it.
Work break ends....

"Without increasing the number of doctors, adding the "47" million to the rolls will spread out service."
Max the 47 million is an insurance problem. Doctors don't do insurance.
As to the 47 million suddenly becomeing voratious consumers of health care, why would you assume that?
They get health care now and either (like BW) pay out the nose for it or have their eyes glaze over at the size of the bill and walk away from it.

McCaughey keeps telling Stewart that the offending language is on page "432" of the bill , ( She had the bill in a large binder in front of her. )
We see her repeatedly thumbing the pages looking for it, at which point Stewart suggests she use a post-it note to mark the page.
Some of the most amazing TV you will ever see is this interview.

This nonsense damged the credibility of liberals for a generation. It's the reason the Dems are so tentative in exerting power.
The Republicans will suffer the same fate. Moderate swing voters will be turned off to "conservative" ideas for a generation because of the teabaggers, birthers, death panelists, and astroturfers.

You seem to be conflating two terms. Public Option isn't healthcare run by the governemnt. It is insurance offered by the government. Single Payer isn't government run healthcare, it is substituting government as the payee instead of the insurance companies.
The only healthcare run by the government is the VA and military hospitals and services.
Even the community health care systems that are partially funded by Congress are not RUN by the government, they are run by community boards of directors.

This is exactly what Sean said, and what I was referring to:
"I can’t imagine how someone facing a fight like this could do it without insurance. It seems to me that when medical knowledge and treatment are available, having a good job or not shouldn’t make the difference between life and death. That said, until health-care costs overall are brought under control, I’m not sure how cases like mine logically fit into any actuarial model. So those folks in Washington better quit namby-pambying around and get this whole thing figured out, whatever it takes."

No need for the left-wing media - i.e., everyone else but FOX and the nut jobs on the radio - to do the hit jobs on the Bush Administration.
These accusations from insiders is damning - and there are only the big dogs to come... Should be interesting - at least it will give us something else to talk about!
And yes maxtrue - I cherry picked that article. Thought it would be big news - or at least a big story.
I mean Cheney shooting someone in the face - was not "big news" for our Country (at least after we heard, "oh, it's his friend ; ) So no real implication for our national intersts - but a big ole political how-down of mammouth proportions. Cable news is often too much like Us Weekly.

An aide to former U.S. House Majority Leader Richard Armey was indicted on corruption charges in connection with disgraced U.S. lobbyist Jack Abramoff, including taking free sports tickets and helping his clients with a government contract.
Horace Cooper, who served as a legislative counsel to Armey, was charged with conspiracy, concealing his actions, making false statements and obstruction of justice, according to the indictment filed in U.S. district court.

Excuse the length Craig, but at least this Dumbikaze did not not cut and paste more than the link below:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/21/us/21intel.html?_r=1
1. Blackwater
Blackwater has been playing a vital role in many operations and will continue to do so as military forces have been stretched thin. Some Democrats have characterized this private corporation as Storm Troopers incarnate, but numerous governments and American agencies have sub contracted out vital work to them, in fact often proposed by Democrats who like to less less use of DOD forces.
2. A regulatory response (Hillary favored this)
Again, the question here ought to be a non-ideological regulatory one. Instead of vilifying private companies versus the impossibility of an all-government run security and special ops strategy, regulatory reform offers a solution. Reality trumps partisan characterizations even if they contain grains of truth.
3. Executuve and CIA v Congress and Dumbikazes
Thus the executive/CIA will still butt heads with the Congress over Blackwater and with the latest wiretap ruling, it is clear the administration understands vital requirments in the war on man-made disasters. I suspect Obama's foreign policy, Healthcare reform, Energy and Climate targets are all tests. So far Obama has never stood up in a significant way to Liberal Pressure. His fast paced agenda represents LIberal Change a la the New Democratic Party he united in his campaign of Yes We Can.
4. Hillary, Dumbikazes and Blackwater...(speculation and fact)
On the other hand, Hillary often would not hide her contempt for the New Left. Her contempt for Right Wing conspiracies is well known, thus making her allergic to the extremes and often their target. Her rejection of the further Left was one reason why she would never apologize for her decision on Iraq. You could see it in her eyes. She built up a resume over these last several years as a Senator that was centrist in security matters and bipartisan in domestic areas, usually trying hard to wed realism with Liberal Principle. She also refrained from using Nazi or Brown Shirt and rarely boasted certain victories on any issue. She knew damn well that Asharif who thwarted our hit on OBL and got exiled by Musharraf, was part of the "enlightened moderates" her campaign rivals were certain would bring "progress". She knew damn well how free an Iranian election was or what role Quds played in murdering Jews in Argentina. That was one reason for her support of the Kyl Bill. As for Blackwater, she always recognized the need to suppliment military force with sub-contractors but would support better regulatory and accounting enforcement.
5. Regulations and Enforcement via the non-ideological Borg approach (latter day Clintonism)
Again the driving non-ideological theme here being reasonable regulations and enforcement. That cuts through Republican defenses. I rather doubt Palin or Rush would be taking on the Clean Water Act any more than a Blackwater Act. Let's face it, there are many who are indignant about being non-ideological and seeking change in such a pragmatic and calculated surgery. Not until all the evils are changed and we have things the way they ought to be, Liberal Dumbikazes can serve as the New Democrats Blackwater .
6. The game of partisan chess (media loves a fight)
Advantage GOP as their leadership is less inclined to moderate their Dumbikazes than many Liberals who get quite angry seeing the same Dumbikaze crew at work that sank Hillary's ship. I'll watch Maher tonight and see them out in force.........

Chloe you can take what you want from what was said. Until we bring down costs can we expect similar treatment to be available with anyone with a job. I do not see how that speaks to a public option. It may be that the non linear butterfly government unleashes could easily push that noble goal in the wrong direction.

Max, I have no argument with you. I can't even remember how this started, but all I was pointing out was that Sean clearly understands people problems, and realized how lucky he is to have the good coverage he has. It sounded like you were using what he said to strengthen some point you were making, and I didn't think you should do that. I quoted what he said, because that way it's his words, and not you and me paraphrasing and interpreting his words. I'm not trying to prove anything here Max.

And you don't think that jackass should not be paying an extra 1-2%!!
The amount of money that gets pissed away by the irresponsible offspring of the wealthy is mind-boggling. And then think of all the money that the responsible kids of rich people spend.
Too bad the Dems lost one of their most effective populist talkers. There's still 2 Americas.
(And don't forget the GOP went in for the kill on Daschle and took out one Obama's most powerful assets on healthcare. Clinton, as Sec. of State, has a limited portfolio. And Obama can't be seen as looking for the Clinton's to tag-in. The Clintons could speak about this as an international issue though. About how we need to set an example for the word - as the wealthiest and most powerful Nation - that people should have good, reasonably-priced, and accessible healthcare - and to do that - people must be insured so that an small amount comes out of their take-home pay - to save for a rainy day they have never thought of.)

Patsi,
Data presented is fairly old and despite the private insurance numbers and behavior which I find troubling, I do not see the clear logic of their solution. Democratic proposals are also troubling to doctors given the quality ratings and history of past reembursements. When you are talking about the elderly, you are talking about a government run system, yes? Common sense would seem to press for caps of some sort and RULES given these corporations must be licensed by the State in order to operate.

For you a "nailer" is either a successful stud or a device that fires nails into wood, commonly used to secure trim to the underlayment. Now you walking around today in Chelsea covered in sun screen and a nailer in hand would have got you many fans, if you catch my humor.

I wondered what the heck was going on earlier. I couldn't read the thread. The local news said that a teenage boy from Portage, which is near Kalamazoo, was beaten up by a 15 year-old boy and a 16 year-old boy a few days ago. The boy said he is homosexual and the other boys yelled several anti-gay slurs at him while they were beating him. Yet, the police have determined that this does not fall under a hate crime. in other news, two members of a Hollywood film crew were robbed in Detroit by 2 teenagers who were armed with shotguns. They got away with a cellphone and 2 wallets. The police caught both kids later. One kid was shot after he was cornered by police and he pointed the shotgun at them. He was shot in the shoulder and will be okay. The violence in Detroit has been out of control lately.

If Hillary was in the Senate she could be leading a charge right now. Leadership wanted her out and offered her Secretary of State. Obama followed that up with a series of special envoys and reps that diluted her force while Democrats delayed her own appointments. She has yet to visit Israel and cannot be looking forward to negotiating with either a terrorist Defense Secretary in Iran or a terrorist Security head for Fatah.
In any case, it would be a sign of weakness to have Hillary stump for healthcare. You could tell from her last interview on the subject a certain bitterness remains from the campaign on this issue and the pressure she felt to leave Congress. That's just my opinion.
The time Obama needed Hillary was mapping the strategy from the start. That doesn't look like it happened any more than Obama consulted Hillary much on dealing with Iranian elections.
Better Bob? I aim to please.......

If Obama gets healthcare through on a party-line vote - it will be good politics if they win the ensuing message war - made even more bloody by the 2010 elections.
If some how nothing gets through - like immigration. (I still can't believe all that hard work was left on the table...what kind of job do you do that at?!) - the GOP is back from the wilderness and on the prowl again. Palin looks like a hawk and T-Paw is the moderate-minded leader.
Or - Obama makes history. And in the wake of a marked lack of progress - due to demagogues - on both "sides" Barack passes a bi-partisan bill which this Country unites behind to make a success.
Or else we just start taking our positions for the next battle.
Sorry folks, but I think party politics is born of convenience and often breeds division. If Obama can't unite this Nation. He will have no chance with the World.

That is always what I thought Obama shoulda sold Hillary for the election.
But guess what healthcare was critical then. And no matter what the politicos say - progress was made.
Right now the most critical theater is international. And the Clintons are right where they need to be if you take the long view.

If they ram this through, implimenting such a bill in the wake of poltical blowback in 2010 with little of anything by then to show as a success will be a mess regardless of the short term victory now. There will be problems with constitutionality as well as the mess writing a coherent bill fast under reconcilliation standards.
How Obama can pull a post-healthcare Clinton move would be a far more lasting victory.

I think your wrong. You set to high of a bar for the President to meet. This country is divided and I don't know of any leader that could bring down those walls. The divide is too large.I know from talking to my friend in Australia and my friend Daneil in India,Obama is loved and respected in other countries. Now if your talking about some of the Muslim nations well, Obama's no different than any other American leader would be...

Oh, I agree. I was looking at it from Obama's view, but from Hillary's I see her taking the SECSTATE despite the insults and exile was the shrewder move, especially if Obama falls apart. And yes, I rather have her on the front lines of foreign policy too.
He could have kept her in the Senate until after healthcare since he hasn't needed her SO MUCH at the moment touring around the world. Then he could have replaced his SECSTATE in a time of needed recalibration using her to send a new signal. This could have created a different outcome for Obama in the NY Senate race......
Another what if.......and I see some problems with my conjecture..

As I recall the person noticed it and apologized and ask it to be removed.

I have enjoyed the fact that Ree has gone from a cut and paste drive by poster to a commenter offering opinions. I've enjoyed it even if I don't agree.

But I kid. I probably woulda voted for him in 2000. I was eligible - didn't pay much attention - but Bush seemed to have the best policy towards China and campaigned on a modest foreign policy.
Plus, he spoke to Middle America and Gore was way to ivory-tower - even though W was born with a platinum spoon in his mouth.
But - I did not vote. I voted against the Iraq war in 2004. And did that again in 2008.

I don't know what you mean. She can't be looking forward to talking to any of those I mentioned with one arm tied behind her back or policies that make it hard to reconcile with allies. Now with a stick or more policy control, I would put her in a room with anyone including Bill or Obama.
Perhaps that indicates my "true colors" Warren. And I rather doubt you championed Hillary more than several others here including me.

The way America is perceived is more important than the way Obama is perceived.
That is what makes this Country great. Barack is a damn fine example of the American Dream.
Mr. Obama goes to Washington. And he is not a manchurian candidate. He did not "steal the election." Heck - it was even close. And America elected him our President.

Just guys at work. So simple yet so....
Bank of America just called me for a quality survey. Boy did I let them have it. They asked me how I liked their accidental death insurance. Got that? Do I like it? I said given the fact I never requested it from their vendor and only noticed it after checking their debits into my account, they get a 2 on the scale of 1 to ten. Maybe after I die and they pay out, I'll give them a better rating...... Now really. How have I liked their accidental death policy?.......

Warren, I must eat, but please, let's not go over the strange policy used up until recently regarding Israel and the fast track to peace. I have supplied many links here. Obama's policy in the Middle East was predictably lacking and Debka is always an interesting place to hear it from the Israeli side as opposed to the several Lefty newspapers in Israel. Gee, I wonder why Obama's favorability in Israel sank to 6% while Hillary enjoys a far greater plus.
If the President has no stick, neither does his SECSTATE. I rather doubt Hillary thinks negotiating with a terrorist has no preconditions. Hillary would be more formidible unbridled. That was my point. Realism ought to replace wishful thinking.

Nope, Tony, being a cracker I tend to change color in sunlight.
I find it so funny to watch Obama supporters. I still regard the Clinton's with respect no matter their highs and lows. It is never about personality, but rather principles and efforts despite the flaws. They don't sop and wear their emotions on their sleeves often. The fickledness of Obamabots is that they always saw in him what they wanted to see. Maybe Hillary supporters share some qualities with her. Obviously many Obama supporters do not.
Don't worry Obama, HIllary supporters are there to back you up should you feel the need to reject the Left or Right and opt for "changes" sustained by the broad plurality of America. I can see why Obama hasn't moved on immigration...........too many Dumbikazes....

It is weird. Just take a cool worksite and do a version of this old Pre-War Apartment. Just have hours of work with occasional explanations off what is going on. One girl said Lesbians would love to see girls doing construction and that would certainly bring in straight men too depending how everyone was dressed. Normal people might even watch it for tips. If I can grow my way out of the gloom in NYC, I will be sure to keep the idea in mind. I just never realized to what degree hot men and women doing contruction could be marketable.......

Ok, you guys are still on health talk....I tooks it, and I can't takes it anymore.........Im going back to jokes.........
Health Care
Looking into new Health Care Plan ??
A wealthy woman was being shown around the hospital.
During her tour she passed a room where a male patient was masturbating furiously.
'Oh my GOD!' screamed the woman. 'That's disgraceful! ......Why is he doing that?'
The doctor who was leading the tour calmly explained, ..
I'm very sorry that you were exposed to that, but this man has a serious condition where his testicles rapidly fill with semen, and if he doesn't do that at least five times a day, he'll be in extreme pain and his testicles could easily rupture.'
''Oh, well in that case, I guess it's okay,' said the woman.
As they passed by the very next room, they saw a male patient laying in bed while a nurse performed oral sex on him.
Again, the woman screamed, 'Oh my GOD! How can THAT be justified?
Again the doctor spoke very calmly, 'Same illness, better health care plan.'

I've come to the conclusion that it is imperative that we know who administers the insurance policy available to members of Congress and anybody else who is lucky enough to have it - all the benefits and who the hell is handling this policy. What is the company? Why has no one demanded this info? It surely can't be considered classified info - they have to tell us.

Warren, one just for you pal.!
Ive been talking a lot about cash for clunkers this week; so one more won't hurt........
Democrats, realizing the success of the President's "Cash For Clunkers"
rebate program, have revamped a major portion of their National Health Care
Plan. President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Sen. Reed are expected to make
this major announcement at a joint news conference later this week. I have
obtained an advanced copy of the proposal, which is named....
"CASH FOR CODGERS" and it works like this...
a.. Couples wishing to access health care funds in order to pay for the
delivery of a child will be required to turn in one old person. The amount
the government grants them will be fixed according to a sliding scale.
Older and more prescription dependent codgers will garner the highest
amounts.
b.. Special "Bonuses" will be paid for those submitting codgers in
targeted groups, such as smokers, alcohol drinkers, persons 10 pounds over
their government prescribed weight, and any member of the Republican Party.
c.. Smaller bonuses will be given for codgers who consume beef, soda,
fried foods, potato chips, lattes, whole milk, dairy products, bacon,
brussel sprouts, or Girl Scout Cookies.
d.. All codgers will be rendered totally useless via toxic injection. This
will insure that they are not secretly resold or their body parts harvested
to keep other codgers in repair.

The guests were a Congresswoman, Jay Leno, chuck Todd and the author of the book "Blackwater".
There was a extended panel discussion over the use of mercenaries in Afghanistan and Iraq totally out of control of the military as well as Prince the head of Blackwater, the murders committed, the use of child prostitutes (as I said not funny).
There was a great deal of talk about the health care bill but more from the strategy and why the media covered noise and lies rather than actually rebutting the misinformation ... pretty much along the line of just because something happens doesn't make it news while things that are important (i.e. the Blackwater crimes) hardly get any coverage at all.
There were some fun bits if you consider Michelle Bachmann funny as opposed to scarey because she has a following.
Mahar was being pretty harsh, but I think the tempers were flaring a bit.

.... now that makes sense, patd. Journey, as in add sugar for more calories and energy, to get us through the journey.
Now ''hoe cakes", I'd be careful about saying that one, since 'hoe' has taken on a 'whole' new meaning, with rap.
