Craig, You were so interesting on Olberman. So many ideas though, I didn't know which one to latch on to. The curiosity is killing me.
Can you give us a better idea of what you believe would be the most likely reason for a strategic leak? I'm not buying the idea of it being to put pressure on her. And it seems kinda extreme, if they simply want her to not make demands. But it does make sense that they're floating the idea around to get a reaction, since that's what politicians always seem to do.
All of this still doesn't give us much to hang on to. Do you have a more specific opinion? And do you think Hillary is the most qualified, of the names being floated, for the Secretary of State job?

Taking up an issue or cause and grinding on it day after day. In Dobb's case it was, and still is immigration. Keith's doing the same thing with Hillary.
Plus being on cable news seems to do something to people's egos. The drive for ratings inflates those things something fierce. The Roman's had it right, when they had a slave on the back of the chariot whispering in the conquering general's ear :

Ha, Pat. You may be asking the wrong person. Daniel Craig (and James Bond) can do no wrong, where I'm concerned.
It's a lot more of an action movie this time, and a good one. But it is slightly different than the previous ones (can't put my finger on it.) We enjoyed it a lot, but we're real movie buffs. Seeing a movie on TV is not the same experience as seeing it in the theatre, imo. It's a whole different experience. So I'd never wait for the video on any movie, if it's something I want to see. :)

Speaking of Lou Dobbs...or rather, of anti-immigrant hysteria...I'm concerned that my Mexican neighbors down the street appear to have vanished. The children-- about seven of them -- always trick or treated me, and they were a nice bunch of kids. Only one spoke English, but he spoke for the rest. The kids never showed up on Halloween. It then occurred to me that I hadn't seen them outside for a few days. Now, the house seems deserted. But I never saw anyone in the process of moving. I hope something ugly didn't happen. Like the INS.

Anon -- I read that road to hell story the other day. Would love to see it in person. I visited the ruins of a coliseum where they pointed out the tunnels that both Christian and lion were sent into the arena....it was very nearly a supernatural experience. Much like the feeling I had in the old Syrian fort, Nimrod's outpost in the Golan Heights.

So I'll take Gordo's name out of the discussion, though people like him are, in my opinion, a big part of the problem. A customer was in my gas station two days after Barack Obama won and she was thrilled, like so many around here. She even picked up a special report magazine on the Obama win. Anyway, a friend of mine was standing behind the the counter and she commented on how happy she was. Chris said "yes but I hope he doesn't get assassinated". Now to understand Chris is to understand that he is not really well educated but seems to go along with the topic of the day. The customer runs a holistic health shop, massage oils... herbs and so forth. she said "U mag dat niet zeggen!"
which means "You cannot say that!". I looked at her and at Chris and she explained that too many people repeat this because people are afraid of Obama being assassinated. She then says to Chris, "you must not say these things because it creates the environment for it to happen. The more people repeat fears of threats, or demonize the person, the more it can become a likelihood. I guess she was saying that negativity, no matter how the person means it, contributes to the energy flow around us and such energy is very powerful. Sort of like when journalists go on "feeding frenzies"... their energy partially creates a "reality"... certainly a change in the life flows...
I was glad Chris was told not to say it, though I don't think he understood at all. I cannot tell you how many people came into my shop to say they hoped Obama is not assassinated. I kept reassuring them that security for the POTUS is very strong, much different than in Kennedy's day and we can all share the optimism of this President not only surviving, but excelling... for the USA, for Europe, for the world.

If I remember correctly Richardson had the DOE job before, and with Obama's commitment to a Greening Energy future, it seems he'll get something along those lines. I read that Obama is looking at appointing Tammy Duckworth to an important role, perhaps head of Veteran Affairs? I really like her ! She has fought so hard for the USA and I never have seen her complain or be bitter (and if it were me I'd be both!). I think she has a bright future and I wish her all the best.

X-Rep; I've really enjoyed the Jesus and taxes discussion; Not only have the original gospels likely changed for audiences, but the four gospels themselves are written for different reasons and to different audiences. I happen to like Mark's gospel. It was the first written, the shortest, and just tells the story - bang! And I didn't mean to imply that Jesus was pro-taxes. This place can give you a severe case of Deja Vu. Right after the primaries we were talking about Clinton as VP, SOS, or Supreme Court. There were a lot of references to "Team of Rivals" then. Once Biden was named as VP and Clinton went on the trail for Obama while saying she had no interest in the Supremes and giving every indication that she would just return to the Senate ("The Bloom where you are planted" remark)
Still she never said no to SOS.
Now we are back to having it all on TV with Doris Kearns Goodwin's book back at number one.
I would love to see Clinton as SOS. She and Biden would work well together while providing a Washington wise duo to advise Obama and free him up to bring in younger, newer people in other jobs.
I suppose Richardson has to get something since he is Hispanic, has expertise in several areas, and Obama owes him big time. The President Elect isn't likely to take my suggestion of dropping him over the side of the Grand Canyon.
Tammy Duckworth has been mentioned both for the VA and replacing Obama in the Illinois Senate seat. Since she is already doing the VA job on the state level, bringing her up to the national level makes sense, particularly since JJ Jr. wants the Senate.

IMO we are going to continue having unconscionable gaps in healthcare for tens of millions of families until we have a single payer system. Pogo has said Medicare's administrative system is efficiently effective. I agree. Model a system for all on Medicare.

Several of the models for a new health care system do have a Medicare type component while still using the Insurance companies. From what I've read and with ET's input the best options seem to be rather like Belgium's plan where businesses or individuals can buy in to any of the insurance plans or a government provided alternative and the government negotiates with insurance carriers on behalf of the citizens.
We really need to redo the drug program for seniors. How the Feds could create something that didn't negotiate the prices of drugs for Medicare when they do it for the VA is beyond me. Talk about corporate welfare.

She seems to have the administrative expertise and the VA has a lot of career bureaucrats to assist with the minutia. The big plus would be for vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and seeing one of their own at the top of the food chain.
It would instill confidence since she would have a familiarity with their needs better than someone who hadn't been wounded. or through the system.
Also, she is multi racial with Asian ethnicity. It wouldn't be an "only" reason to hire her, but it helps when you are trying to design a cabinet that looks like America while getting a lot of brains and talent.

you have my attention with Chaco Canyon...it is a most incredible area and although the main sites have been partly excavated, their are many sites on the old dirt roads that remain buried. If it is not raining, many of the arroyos lead to minor sites in the huge ancient communication system. A person could spend a lifetime studying there. There is a documentary about time and Chaco Canyon with Robert Redford as narrator. I may have recorded it at one time.

Jamie, I don't recall whether you are under Medicare yet, so I'll assume not. Medicare does integrate with private insurers that supplement the basic Medicare coverages. In their 2009 pamphlet 'Medicare & You' there are almost 20 pages of insurers registered as supplemental carriers just for South Carolina. The tables in the Medicare pamphlet detail the coverages, the costs involved, and user ratings of the plans.
The Belgian system seems to be similar to the plan for government employees. The plan can be frightfully expensive for high levels of coverage.
I agree with your appreciation of the Part D Medicare drug benefit.

anon...there is a little town called aztec (north of Chaco and close to Farmington)..an area of many religious kivas. It is a wonderful 'corner' of New Mexico. The drive from east of the Zuni res contains many interesting areas. It is starting to get too cold in that area for my taste...best time to visit, IMO, is September. There is a rock formation/wall in Chaco canyon that is filled with bees...when you walk below the huge wall, you can hear the hum of millions of bees. The wall is peppered with tiny holes in the rock face. A very spiritual place indeed.

Yes I'm on Medicare courtesy of disability and see the medical bills with the payments and deductions plus having a monthly fee deducted from the SSI check and paying a copay. It works really well for me because I am in Tacoma which has an excellent Community Health system of participating physicians and an excellent hospital complex if needed without having to go long distances.

If I was president, I would accidently on purpose 'leak' things all the time, just to see what the public reaction would be. At any time, the Obama camp could say 'oh no, no,no. We were not considering Hillary.' Then someone else could be 'leaked' until the right person for the right situation is mentioned and then they could say 'Oh yes, that's who we were thinking of the whole time.' Pat, I don't think veterans, as a group, were enthralled with Cleland.
It's nice if they have someone who's served; it's even nicer if the person is competent. Having someone who is profoundly disabled tends to place the focus on that individual's disability rather than the VA mission.
Regrettable as each Iraq/Afghanistan injury is, and how it affects the vet and the vet's family, the public and the director must realize that those vets are a relatively small subset of disabled veterans--many of whom are being under treated.
The president must be the cheerleader for disabled veterans; the director must be the administrator extraordinaire.

Yesterday, Stinky and I went to Krogers. There was a chilled display case with strawberries not too far from the entrance. She looked in it and found a dying sparrow.
I called one of the employees who grabbed it and took it wherever. Said it happens all the time--birds flying in from outside. Didn't make us feel better.
And, Rosie, if you're reading this, that sadness on its small scale helps me understand how badly you're feeling now. You have my condolences.

Thu 13/11/08 18:19 - The Belgian healthcare system is in 12th place according to an annual European ranking by the Swedish research institute Health Consumer Powerhouse.
No country in Europe organises its healthcare better than the Dutch do according to the European study by Swedish research institute Health Consumer Powerhouse.
The annual study compares the level of healthcare from the point of view of the patient. Patients in the Netherlands have to wait longer for treatment than in Belgium but for everything else the Netherlands scores better: patients have more rights, doctors book better results.
Belgium was 10th on the list last year, this year we are 12th. According to the study Belgium has too much trouble with hospital bacteria infection. Further, the incidence of diabetes is too high as is the suicide rate.
Health Consumer Powerhouse has been making the ranking for the last four years. Experts from the institute think that Belgium could score better, but no information about Belgian healthcare has been forthcoming from the authorities in the last years.

Rosie -- hope you aren't worried about my mother's death. As I said, she went exactly as she would have wanted. Quickly, painlessly, and having never spent a day of her 83 years as an invalid. Being there with her when she in effect, transformed, was actually very reassuring.

I wish that I had faith like that, but I'm a true atheist that dosent believe in souls or spirits or anything. It makes it extra sad for me when someone dies, but it makes me extra determined to do good while I'm here. I live by the starfish philosophy.
One evening, an old man was walking down the beach, and he noticed that there where hundreds of starfish stranded on the beach by the tide, being left to certain death on the dry sand. The old man also noticed that farther down the beach, was a young man who was doing at first what appeared to be a strange dance. No ma'am. The closest I ever came was one night I kept seeing a tall glowing figure out of the corner of my eye. Everytime I tried to look at it directly, it would dissapear, and then reappear when I turned my head back. I finally figured out that it was the light reflecting off of one of my grey hairs. I would never tell anyone that they didn't see or hear something. But I will say we don't always see what we think we are seeing.

Sea - Patsi has just proved to me that I shouldn't order till closer to gift-giving time. I think I gained 10 pounds just imagining what Patsi was eating.
I'm on Medicare, too, because of my age. Along with my Secure Horizons I seem to be doing fine, altho I don't have any medial problems (knock wood) except for asthma so no big bills.
I don't know if KGC has run into this yet, but we are losing docs pretty steadily here. Medicare considers this area to be rural and pays accordingly. One long-time ob/gyn has left and the group mine belonged to has broken up. My gp's office just joined Sutter.
Santa Rosa population is about 130,000 now and there are many many surrounding towns and cities with smaller populations. This used to be a good medical city but....So Medicare does have something it could do better.
RE: Hillary and sos . I'm thinking she won't get it, and if so, what a mess. If it's Richardson, the team is full of idiots. All the talk re vp and nothing, and then all the
talk re sos, and nothing and then to br - wow! nothing like pouring fuel on the fire. That would bring his judgement into question - how to anger fence-sitters even more! I'm betting Richardson wants it and will fight for it.

I've had that same experience too, Rosie. About the hair reflections....or a stray piece of hair that seemed like it might be something moving off to the side. But one early morning when I was sitting out on my back patio (maybe ten years ago) I did see something, and I realized that it was very possible that this whole idea of different time planes could be on target.

My problem with that , however, is that it seems that we would have definite proof by now. Something that we could point to and say 'see, I told ya so
Same with esp and what-not, too. If it was real, then someone would be able to stand up and do something. I used to sell tarot readings at our local flea market, and there was nothing anymore supernatural than I am extra good at reading People (hence, my good tips and my day job is workng with mentally and physically disable). But there is no solid, empirical proof. I do enjoy watching Ghost Hunters, though, Jason and Grant are HOT.

Some things 'feel' majickcal. There are times when I'm in the woods that it almost feels like if I look hard enough, I''ll see little fairy faces looking back. If I did, though, I'm sure I'd just convence myself it was just a simulacrum, and and somewhere a fairy would die in a poof of logic.

I keep forgetting owl news.
The next morning they said the owl was doing great and seemed fine. They gave it a mouse and it ate half of it and would probably eat the other half later. I don't know if they gave it a name.
They expected to release her later that day, but I don't know for sure if they did. She sure picked the right chimney to fall down.
I always wonder what these critters think of or remember of their short meetings with us - do they recognize good will? They can't bond with us so quickly but I wonder if they feel any less fear at all? I don't particularly want them to feel less fear cuz that's dangerous for them, but I do wonder what , if anything, they retain of the paths crossing.

There is an excellent book called 'Three men in Search of Monsters' about these three guys that go around to different places in Britian to research and investigate reports of monsters. They never find any, but they meet a wonderful and eclectic bunch of people and have a few weird experiances. It's a good read.

Bethy, I doubt that your owl remembers anything. Or, if she does, it will be fear and confusion.
I'm as kind to little critters as most anyone. I feed them, talk with them, puzzle over them, and marvel at them. So, when I erected a scarecrow in our garden outfitted with one of my work shirts and outdoor hats, I was curious as to what 'my' birds reaction would be.
Not one single bird has gone into the garden since the scarecrow was installed. So much for good will. Or, maybe they just understand what I'm trying to do and are playing along with me. That must be it.

When I live in the woods, I dug a garden. A rose breasted grosbeak used to follow on my heals and nab every grub I turned up. Oddly, it had no fear of me.
We had barred owls, too, and they hunt in the afternoon. When guests came, I'd make squeaking noises by sucking the back of my hand and the owls would come to me out of the woods. It really freaked people out.
Ghosts, on the other claw, never dared to appear around me. I guess American ghosts are more timid than the Irish variety.

We're having problem with wolves up here now, because the wolf packs that live on the outskirts of town and the two packs that live on Elmindorf are no longer afraid of people and they will just walk up and literally snatch up small dogs when people are out walking them. There was a really disturbing photo int the paper not to long ago of a wolf walking down the street with a pug in his mouth that he'd just snatched. Luckily, the wolf drop it after several people surrounded it. The city is wondering if they just need to go ahead and kill off the non-fearful wolves and just start over again.

I've always thought it was interesting that Jesus was born in Palestine, and was of 'questionable parentage.' He did not resemble any messiah that anyone was waiting for. Peter, particularly, was rather miffed that JUST at the moment he (Peter) and the others were ready to follow Jesus anywhere (and do battle for and with him) Jesus told them that it wasn't that kind of fight. I love all the written accounts of conversations between Jesus and Peter. Most of the time, Peter just didn't get it, but that's ok, cos I think if I had been there, I probably wouldn't have "gotten it" either.
When one reads the bible, it's always good to have other faith books nearby, particularly Babylonian history. The stories are almost identical -- as well as the beginning of the Koran, (Children of Abraham -- the Abraham and Isaac story is in there -- except Isaac is swapped for Ishmail.) During my Old Testament assignments, I was forever going off on tangents, great for the curious mind -- not so good when your professor just wants ya to answer the damn question! haha

I'm so glad you linked that Five Myths About the Election. It validated (in my mind) so many of the things about the election that I already thought. Not the least, it's take (by some Republicans) that "John McCain as president would have amounted to applying a Band-Aid to a gaping wound". That made me think again that Republicans weren't all that excited by the idea of taking over the mess left behind by Bush. (Whether it's true or not, I still have this nagging suspcion that this election was pre-determined before the process even occurred.)
I also found this interesting: "The fact that roughly a third of the Democratic House majority sits in seats with Republican underpinnings (at least at the presidential level) is almost certain to keep a liberal dream agenda from moving through Congress. The first rule of politics is survival, and if these new arrivals to Washington want to stick around, they are likely to build centrist voting records between now and 2010. "
And last, but not least, I was glad that the writer pointed out that Palin did not hurt McCain, but indeed helped him by rallying conservatives behind him.
He said it all, when he said he doubted any Republican candidate could have won the presidency this year.

Yes, Chloe -- I liked that WaPo article as well. And I agree that it would have been nearly impossible for any Republican to win. But the main thing is that we are underestimating the "face" of so amny of the newly and recently elected Democrats. They are certainly not on the left side of the spectrum. Many are anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage. It needs more analysis, state by state, to see where exactly the party is moving.

Patsi, I don't think we have taken steps backward as much as we've been exposed to more than our share of the worst offenders, due to this election. The awareness, created by this election, is going to help us continue in the right direction.
It's like everything else, women aren't going to be treated equally, until they demand to be treated equally. That same rule goes for the equal rights that everyone needs to demand. Let it be known that nothing less will be accepted.

The initiatives in Cal are often deliberately worded to be confusing. In the case of prop 8 - the Jerry Brown (attorney general) had been to court to change the original wording. It was pretty clear if you were paying attention but even with the advantages of the voters handbook, I think most voters pay attention to the initiatives the day they vote and may have some confusion.

I am a Kaiser member so less of an issue with the docs leaving. However the rural/urban payment issue is one of the beefs I have with Woolsey. When asked about this issue 4-5 years ago -Woolsey basically threw up her hands and said there is nothing I can do. However, members of Congress such as Peter DeFazio came up with creative idea to address the imbalance.
Woolsey is a reliable vote for progressive issues but not much of leader for the district.

John Dingell HAS to be REMOVED as the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee! Contact your Congressional Rep to demand that it goes to Waxman. Dingell is the industry's lapdog and he has opposed any meaningful changes in how Detroit makes cars. Face it, American car makers have had their heads in the ground, total denial of the environmental and energy issues at hand. Dingell is LITERALLY MARRIED TO GENERAL MOTORS. He must be stopped !

Soup for supper
A variation on good ole tater soup.
I save the trimmings off the spiral sliced ham I buy for sandwiches. The trimmings are full of smoke so they make good flavoring for soup.
3/4 cup of ham
1 onion
About 2 inches of the celery top where it is a mixture of leaves and stalk
2 large potatoes
2 sweet potatoes, the same size
An equal amount of Jacko'lantern pumpkin
Peel , slice and dice the vegetables
Put the chopped up ham in the pot and cook until some of the fat is rendered out of the meat. That way you don't chunks of fat meat.
Add the onions and celery let them cook with the ham until the smell permeates the house.
Put all the remaining veggies in the pot add a cup or 2 of water to cover 2/3 of the veggies. You don't want too much liquid as you are going to add milk or cream later.
Bring to a boil then turn on low and simmer until every thing is cooked to pieces.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Just before serving add a cup of cream or can evaporated milk.
We will do the canned milk tonight as the wife is still thinking diet. but cream makes an incredibly rich tasty soup.
Serve with your favorite quick bread and lots of butter

Watching Chris Matthews Sunday Show with an excellent panel. He is smart, sharp, informed and asks excellent questions without over riding their opinions.

McCloskey was also US ambassador to Cyprus, the Netherlands, and Greece, and an ambassador-at-large during the 1970s, until he retired from the Foreign Service in 1981. In 1974, he had worked with Kissinger on negotiations over the Golan Heights in Israel. From 1981-83, McCloskey was ombudsman for The Washington Post, at which time he took a post with the Catholic Relief Services, working there for the next six years.

I'm mostly a one man operation and mostly do minor repair. Things break and old people need them fixed. I occassionally get larger jobs like last month where I hire someone for a few days but not often.
I don't know what is going on with new construction this fall. Last summer I talked to someone on the crew I used to work on and he said they were keeping busy.
In this old neighborhood I'm seeing quite few remodel jobs happening. I imagine it is folks like me who buy an old house for under $ 20,000 and fix it up to rent or sell.

I stayed with my mom while she was dying and that took about about a year. I have a friend who was a photo journalist for our local paper and was also a member of a ghost hunting group. They would go to cemetaries with cameras and tape recorders and take pictures and record sounds.
She called one night after mom went to sleep to invite me on one of their hunts at a cemetary close to where my mom lived. I went and didn't see anything, didn't really want to at the time, but did get to see their pictures and they were quite impressive.
The night my mom died, my friend was there with me with her camera. We had to wait for someone from the medical school to pick up mom's body because she donated it to the medical school.
After dark, while standing outside I felt something touch my shoulder so I asked my friend to get her camera and take a picture. I was surrounded by a beautiful blue aura. My nephew, my mom's favorite, was surrounded by a gold aura and my sister a lavender aura. I took a picture of my friend and no aura. After they took my mom's body, all the auras were gone.
The next week, while waiting for the funeral because my stepfather was out of the country when mom died, the house was full of orbs. All of our cameras picked them up. Never had these before and after that week haven't photographed any.
Can't explain it but I feel it was a spiritual phenomena. I checked into the significance of the aura colors and they matched us to a tee. I have since read about the orbs and quite a few people have seen them in their family photos. There is a book titled the Orb Project that is pretty interesting. It is co-authored by a scientist and theologian.
There is more to our existance to what we have on this earth. Thank God.

She decided now wasn't the time. The company that wanted her is a medium sized archetecture firm that had a gang busters year last year. With the changes that are happening right now there is likely to be a down turn and the new director of marketing could easily take the blame. The company she is currently with is well enough diversified between public and private construction that they will find opportunities. So she feels safe where she is at.

Good luck to you, Craig, in luring new participants of divergent philosophies here when THAT type of sentiment is met with less resistance than the word "fuck". Afternoon all. Haven't read this thread other than the last few posts. Sounded confrontational in tone. I'm splitting time between my apartment and my Mom's condo now. I'm waiting to hear whether or not I am working this week. Things sound pretty bad at work. A friend of mine texted me the other day and said some departments at work would be down from 1-4 months. There is no overtime allowed at work. This was an order from our plant manager's boss. Sounds like I may have to look for a new job soon. I also heard our owners were put on S&P's "credit watch". If the big 3 don't get helped out, things are going to get really bad.

Never mind, I read the thread. Well, some of it. Not the bad parts yet. Speaking of language, when I first got hired in where I work I was asked "Do you swear?" I thought to myself, "What? Why are you asking me that?" The guy who hired me said, "Well, we try to watch our language here." I told him, "I do swear occasionally, but I can control it." Things have changed a lot at work since then. But, from time to time I have worked with people who never swear.

Exactly how I felt when I someone was:
Accused "of conspiracy to commit murder"- they spoke out against Obama.
A black woman's race was questioned because she didn't support Obama. Just another form of prejudice. Truly sorry Lampe, I should have spoken out, but was still recuperating from a recent attack myself.
Call for a public shunning- I guess I learned as a young woman from my beloved Hawthorne that shunning is a dangerously ugly form of social control..
The continued and unabashed use of derogatory sexist remarks and name-calling.
It all reminds me of that murder of a woman on a city st. many years ago, and no one lifted a hand. What sort of person am I when I sit by and tolerate others being abused?

Rosie -- Sea Hag is an old and much used term as well as a fictional character...it's sometimes used as a description of a sea witch, sometimes used as a funny term.
It is a far different thing to just cut it down to the derogatory term some use to describe any woman over 50.
However, my personal favorite is this description:
"A mean, rotten, old woman who lives by the Sea in Indialantic, Florida who lures Men in, gets a cut of their paycheck, drinks all their blood then tosses their remains into the street."

I think I met Jim Rooney once at a little bluegrass festival a friend of mine used to put on in upstate New York. It was called the Rooney Mtn. Bluegrass Festival, it got it's name from Rooney Mtn. outside of deposit NY, not from Jim Rooney. I'm pretty sure he was there playing in a band with guys Like Tex Logan and Sam Bush.

New South or Old South? My family was one of the First Families and had lived in Pitman Centre (around Gatlingburg) for near two hundred years. I had relatives that still used the word 'hope' as the past tense of help. Very proper English, for two hundred years ago. And we would go a-berrying while the men went a-hunting. Again, proper English, only for an earlier time.

I think it's time for a Listers Irrelevant Day, so I propose, tomorrow should be "Soundtrack of Your Life" day. This is easy. Just make a list of the 10 songs that make you either TURN it up and SING at the top of your lungs while driving, or the ones that make ya dance while standing in line at the grocery store. (the turning it up and singing at the top of my lungs ALWAYS embarrassed my then 13 year old daughter -- much to my delight!). Go on, it'll make ya feel good, and we can have a good natter (there's a word for Craig) about it after.

Well, since I only moved to Nashville, it may not count as the South anyway....especially since I usually hang with music people from all over.
My family came to the Americas through the Carolinas (not Ellis Island) and lived in North Carolina, then Tennessee, but always moving Westward.

It is not the first or second time that he/she has threatened to pull up stakes, and probably not the last.
He/she is prickly and extremely negative, prefering to razz others for their opinions rather than present any of his/her own in an orderly fashion. He/she frequently appeared with a snarky comment, sometimes without reading carefully what his victim actually wrote - a fault of which I have been guilty also.
champ is a master of the cop out, as we see with the flight from criticism over his/her use of the f bomb, a lame reason for leaving. As to "70,000 words", and his purported essay - total baloney. Humerous baloney, but baloney nonetheless.

3. With the exception of Solomon and Josiah, all of David's descendents were awful rulers, so why on earth would anyone want a Davidic messiah ? Or an king, for that matter ?
4. The gospels give Jesus 2 DIFFERENT geneologies. Which one is correct ? Any theories ? To be continued

I not only don't get past it, I never come near it. If Jesus were God, I think he would have said so, rather than leaving that job of announcing it to a later generation. As Jesus never did say it, I doubt he thought of himself as God. In fact, in the Gospels Jesus repeatedly refers to God as if God were someOne else.
In one version of the trial before Pilate Jesus admits to the son of god, but aren't we all children of God ?
I don't remember what Octavian's family name was.
Now there was a guy who actually claimed to be a god.

I don't have a need to be right----my goal is to reach the lukers with as much information in regards to religion----i have lost some loved ones to religion----they are here in body---but not as family---i have learned a lot of historical facts that most people that have read the bible several times will never know cos they are not in the bible-----i get a lot of information from Anthropology and sociology ---they provide names dates, and back ground of what was happening at the time of jesus and historians that back it up---if xr want to talk about it in a way that we both can learn something ffine---if not then,,it seems a little silly of him to stalk me just to show me up----he won't

Augustus's father was also named Octavious, was a wealthy plebean from a political family. He married into nobility by marrying Julius Caesar's niece.

I thought champ told me to be careful what I wish for, because after he again threatened to leave Trail Mix, I had written that he was humorous, and a valuable contributor. He couldn't stand to have me say anything good about him.

Thanks, Solar - what I was getting at was whether today's churches were ever exposed to these kinds of of historic stories. If they're not in the Bible, It's easy to ignore them. All the same, I wonder if ministers and pastors etc are exposed to them - very interesting.
