Good morning all!
The vid is okay.... Lauged a bit, couldn´t watch all shots... :-)
Ok guys, have to be hnest. I was on the verge of voting for BO when I watched CNN on Sunday morning. There was a discussion with topic: From the right and there were 4 panelists. I watched and they sounded good. Then one guy (forgot his name) mentioned osmething that again struck a chord with me: About BO aandoning or leaving his church after 20 yeras. But the way the guy described it, made me wonder..
Then I sent in my absentee ballot..... Didn´t write in HRC and didn´t vote either Johnny mac or BO...
Although I and we all know BO will win and DNC will not care that I didn´t vote, I know I did my civil duty: Doing what I believe in.
Now, let us get going...A new week has emerged....

Elizabeth Dole's 'Godless Americans' ad has clearly blown up in her face, as Kay Hagan has now expanded her lead to seven points.

Sturg, Bush sure did a disservice to the National Guard. The NG people I knew who served in Vietnam and who were called to active duty for the Pueblo Crisis were marvelous patriots. I submit that Bush the Younger and his ilk were in the great minority.

Craig - pretty good stuff... A + for Video C- for analysis
Very “moving” on your part has continued - now is it a bias?
Key to the point is Voice and who controlled what….
Obama controlled…. And come now admit – was allowed to control
By control of every move with the press, by a weak voice from McCain
So give it to Obama.
Obama controlled the Economic stage - now Craig you are not expected to understand Economics - as the MSM has failed us – When the use of Fundamentals was allowed to be defined by Obama. Allowed by the Press and Allowed by McCain. Today we see the Fundamentals are strong – the stock market will recover – (thank goodness we see it now but Obama will claim it if elected)
WARNING – But does Obama want to “Fundamental Shift” in our Fundamentals with his Righteous wind at his back? Hold on to your wallet!!
Which Obama are you voting for?
Heck why vote – Obama already has his press conference speech ready for Wednesday – and the Press has their tickets.

The morning after: Half of us will be disappointed
"PITTSBURGH (AP) - The meteorologists tell us that Wednesday morning in southwestern Pennsylvania's largest city will be crisp and sunny with a high of 64. That's about all we know. Being a weather forecast, it offers nothing about the political climate that will have been created by the election the day before.
The outlook is obvious but often overlooked: In a deeply divided nation, on the first dawn after we choose a new leader, every ray of victory's sunshine brings a corresponding thundercloud of defeat and bitterness.
"There are going to be a whole bunch of people who are distraught and who won't know what to do - no matter which side wins," says Chris Ivey, 36, a Pittsburgh filmmaker and ardent Barack Obama supporter. "People will try to go back to their routine, but there's going to be a lot of soul-searching to do.
Reality or wishful thinking, that's part of America's self-image as a land of strong competitors who, in the end, draw together to move forward."

Here's a example from Colorado.
"In another story on the removal of Adams County's Diebold machine, it was noted that the system was quarantined "as per the Secretary of State's instructions". We're not sure if those were instructions given only to Long, or if SoS Mike Coffman had issued a directive somewhere on this. We'll try to find out. In any case, we hope other CO officials (as well as officials in other states where this occurs) will follow Long's lead and take the same action she did. SoS Coffman -- who is overseeing his own election this year in his bid for the U.S. House -- previously decertified all but the Diebold voting systems in his state after an exhaustive court-ordered certification test (and after it was found that his Congressional campaign shared the same PR outfit with Diebold). Following his decertification last December, which discovered all of the machines used by his state were easily hacked and prone to serious errors, he recertified all of them after receiving pressure from CO county election clerks. One of those officials, the state's Election Director Holly Lowder, resigned in disgrace just last month after it was discovered she shared her residence with one of the state's top election vendors. I am about ready to strangle Scarborough this morning. This is not a stupid man so I wonder if he isn't just trying to get an argument started.
He keeps trying to make the "vindicate" statement as something arrogant said by Obama and it's not.
I'm a White senior female and if Obama is elected it will "vindicate" my faith in America. If Hillary had been elected it would have "vindicated" my faith in America.
The definition is his using is "to provide justification or defense for".
This is the first election where the United States is probably, finally living up to its supposed ideal that we are all equal. After a history of blocks put in the way of all other than white males, this is the year a woman could have or a black man will ascend to the Presidency.
Wake up Joe and start cheering - America is finally vindicated!!!

C'mon Jamie. This will always be remembered as the election where America totally BLEW its historic chance to elect its 44th White Male president.
Posted by: LardassLiberal

Oh, Jamie -- I wish I agreed with you. I think some believe that voting for a black for president is vindication -- but I think it's kind of like saying, "kiss-kiss, it's all good now."
It's a good sign, but that's about all it is. I hope he does some great things for the black community, but I seriously doubt he will.

As for me, I'm still waiting for the Whitey tape that GORDO has been promising all these weeks. My new theory is that the GOP is cleverly waiting until the year 2019 to release it, just when it will have maximum impact to spoil the opening of the Obama Presidential Library.

Patsi...if he gets elected, that fact will in itself be something great for the black community. Much more than a little kiss.

Obama and Clinton reach common ground
"While the relationship between Barack Obama and the Clintons remains complicated, associates in both camps say the dynamic has improved dramatically in recent months.
Bill Clinton has stumped for Obama from rural Nevada to suburban Florida. He has hosted fundraisers in Texas and Georgia and stood in for Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden at three more in New York when Biden's mother-in-law died."

ROFL -- my neighbors are black.
I'm having lunch Wednesday with a youngish black woman -- to celebrate Obama's election. She knows I voted for McKinney/Clemente and is cool with that. (Although she thinks Tennessee will be closer than the polls show.) She also understands my questions about Obama, because she held some of the same opinions for quite a while. Now, she says she doesn't care about them. Just wants to see him win. And I understand that, too. So we'll celebrate.

Patsi, I still have my doubts about him as well while believing that between McCain and Obama, Obama is the best choice. Still it gives me more hope for this country than I have had in the past eight years.
Bush really had me feeling that this country had turned its back on virtually everything we were supposed to represent in the world. Seeing him as president on TV actually produces a feeling close to grief. I will be so glad to have him gone. January 21 can not come fast enough.

Hey, it's looking pretty good for McCain. Here's all that has to happen for him to win:
"Actually overtaking Obama in enough states to win would require a combination of factors: Obama's get-out-the-vote efforts have to turn out to be weaker than thought; young voters have to fail to channel their enthusiasm for Obama into actually voting; race has to be a bigger factor than most pollsters currently believe it to be; conservatives have to be more fired up than they have seemed; independents have to be more attracted to the Republican ticket than they have been all year; and, most of all, late-deciding voters have to break disproportionately to McCain."

"So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them"
Reading lesson. He doesn't say cap and trade will bankrupt the coal industry. He said it will bankrupt anyone building a NEW coal fired plant.
There are other uses for coal and all other fossil fuels. It is getting too expensive to burn the stuff. We need to come up with "clean" uses that don't injure the environment while still keeping people employed.
Of course it would be nice if the coal mines here got the same inspections and safety regulations as they have in Canada so that we didn't keep killing the miners either in cave ins or from a long, slow lung disease.

A friend just sent me a joke that may explain Gordo's problem or Sarah Palin's misunderstandings about civics.
In a recent class, they were discussing the qualifications to be president of the United States . It was pretty simple. The candidate must be a natural born citizen of at least 35 years of age.
However, one girl in the class immediately started in on how unfair was the requirement to be a natural born citizen. In short, her opinion was this requirement prevented many capable individuals from becoming president.
The class was just taking it in and letting her rant, but everyone's jaw hit the floor when she wrapped up her argument by stating .... "What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified to lead this country than one born by c-section?"

They need to be strict. We have known for ages the damage that burning of fossile fuels is doing, but courtesy of corporations fixated on the next quarter's profits rather than the long view of what is good for the country, we kept supporting something that needs to be brought to an end.
Given the correct policies, this can be done by retraining, development of clean fuels, and staged obsolescence. There will be problems and dislocations, but as with quitting any addiction, for the good of the body as a whole defeating something that makes you feel good, it has to be done.

I think your idea is great Jason. All children should be taught that.
But you have to admit that there is still a benefit to having successful role models of all colors (and may I add genders, etc.). It's subliminal if nothing more. One way or another, we'll all benefit.

Last week PBS ran a Frontline program called Heat. Now at first blush it looked like a program on climate change, and the first segment was on that. But the rest of the program was about energy, and what to do about the pickle we find ourselves in, and our choices to get out of it.
Do yourself a favor and watch it, because if you think we''ll import more oil to make electricity well you just don't get it.

Random points of the Campaign
Point 1 = Ironic
McCain is a victim of his own success. How Ironic that the success of the Surge driven by McCain and denounced by Obama has taken this critical issue off the table. That Obama is CHANGING his position on Iraq.
Which Obama are you voting for?

Chloe,
But that is the problem. Now we will have an AA presIdent.
You know what the next movement is going to be? A Latino (the fastest growing minority in the USA)president... You can bet 100% that that will be he next move. All the while a female president has not yet emerged, so the females will continue to push that issue. Than people will want a gay president.
it just goes on an on and on and on... It never stops.
because we are thought to think within a box, we are thought to stay small and have someone rise and make a group proud.
WTF.....!!!!!!!!!!!
I chose HRC not because she is a woman, I chose her because she knew her craft and in my opinion was the best equipped to be potus...
As long as we keep continuing to look for role models and idols and whatever...we will continue to circle around and be little.... We will continue to grasp any little present that is given to us and be happy, instead of searching and exploring through wisdom and prosperity....
To quote my tennis instructor yet again: CHANGE IS YOU!

Don't worry about it Jason. There's nothing you can do about it anyway. :)
I feel certain (fighting my superstitious nature by saying this) that the next President will be a woman. The reason I say this is because I think America has shown it's ready. There's too many smart women out there to ignore them any longer.
Then, eventually we will have all the others you mentioned. And good for that. What will be will be.

First,,im optimistic, in construction, it is a prerequisite for living in the reality of the times,or as they say go with the flow.
I watched Obama on cnn this past sunday with wolf b,,,he looked and sounded like someone that knew what he was talking about,,,,,i think that his natural intelligence, and ability to learn at a surprisingly fast pace , and with the availability of some very astute and capable people around him to guide and assist,,,,im optimistic that the D's will want to control things ( at least hopeful) for a long, long time and do right by the country------GW and O will be similar in that both are willing to be molded by the experts in government-------what im not optimistic about is the promises that have been made-----u have to be in la la land to think that he will,,,give me just a cple of the big promises, ill be happy,,,and lastly i have no choice but to be optimistic cause i can't go around for the next 4-8 years afraid of the sky is falling thing---that won't help my son, and all the young people that i care about.

Listen, the last thing in the world McCain wants out of the media is more coverage. The more I see him on the tube the more I see a doddering old man stuck in the past. What is he offereing that he hasn't offered before, and lost to his own party? Reducing earmarks? Puhlease - it's a pimple on an elephant's ass. Making Bush's tax cuts permanent? The economy doesn't seem to suggest that is a great idea. Privatizing health care further? Terrific idea - only without lowering the cost of health care (and health insureance rates as a consequence) it's all talk because no one who's not well off will be able to afford health insurance. Getting rid of the death tax? C'mon - it doesn't affect anyone but the wealthy.
And we're pissed because Obama wants to put cap&trade in place and put a carbon tax on new power plants? Aside from the Friends of Coal industry group, no one here (WV), including the major producers, is going nuts about that. Even Dumya thought the approach Obama advocates was a good one - which is reflected in broad strokes in the FutureGen project.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FutureGen
The project has been restructured, or is in the process of the same because of cost overruns, but it is supported by a consortium of coal industry heavy hitters, including Peabody, Consol, China Huaneng and AEP. The Sr. VP of the WV Coal industry group apparently didn't check with his primary funding sources and with Shelley Moore Capito, WV's Rep. rep. before expressing his outrage over the comments. The handwriting is on the wall, and the coal industry sees it. And yes, clean coal technology costs more than old, dirty coal technology, but in the long term, it's good business for the emerging coal industry rather than the dying coal industry.

Talk about a conspiracy theorist... This guy makes GORDO sound sane.
Hillary Shall Be President of the United States!
I first posted this webpage back on November 24, 2004. It was clear back then, as it still is today, that Hillary Clinton (a Jezebel of Jezebel's) will become President of the United States. It will be a sad day in America, and a time of evil like none other. Hillary Clinton will attack the family, parental rights, freedom of speech, and promote sin like no other president.
It has been decided and Power of Prophecy has confirmed: Hillary Rodham Clinton shall become the 44th President of the United States. The 9-man inner circle of the Illuminati, meeting in closed executive session conducted in the exclusive resort community of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on May 1, 2000, voted unanimously to sponsor and back Ms. Clinton in her quest for maximum political power.
The Master Plan approved by the Illuminati elite calls for Hillary Clinton to first be chosen U.S. Senator from the State of New York in the upcoming November 2000 elections. Then, eight years later, in 2008, she will be the consensus choice of the national Democratic Party for the presidency.
Here is what he predicted:
Media to Assist
Opinion Polls Rigged
Opponents Killed Off (and he notates the assassination of John F Kennedy JR... as proof of this -- yes he does mean John Jr.)
Hillary’s Coronation
International Playboy and Predator
A Great World Crisis

There is very little difference between the McCain energy plan and the Obama energy plan. Both support cap and trade. McCain wants to reduce pollutants by 66% by 2050. Obama wants to reduce pollutants by 80% by 2050.
So all the chicken littles running around saying the coal industry is doomed to destruction are saying that American ingenuity can not come up with a solution sometime in the next 40 years or at least resolve that 14% difference.

tz, you might read this before you start parroting McCain/Drudge/FOX/Newsbusters.
http://www.jedreport.com/2008/11/ohios-gop-senator-mccain-will.html
I particularly like this part of the article:
"Despite the fact that both candidates support clean coal technology, the McCain campaign tried to make the case that Barack Obama wanted to take away jobs from coal country in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and both Drudge and FOX were happy to oblige.
But just three years ago on the floor of the United States Senate, John McCain's Republican colleague George Voinovich of Ohio took to the floor to argue against a proposal by McCain to curb greenhouse gas emissions. McCain's proposal, Voinovich said, would "put coal out of business" and cost thousands of jobs, an argument that McCain did not contest.
"In fact, McCain agreed that his plan would require sacrifice, but he also argued (correctly) that in the long-run, America would be better off. In other words, he made the exact same arguments as Barack Obama -- and as you can see above, it was all on video."
All this stuff gets recorded, you know. :-)

Jamie, it was a political movie festival. I took a picture of the theater's marquee. It's on my Facebook page. I was interested in seeing the election from the Northern Michigan point of view. I saw a lof McCain signs and a lot of Obama signs this weekend. But, there were more McCain signs. Although I have noticed that pretty everyone is voting along party lines. Either all signs supported Democratic candidates or Republican candidates. Although I did see one huge Ron Paul sign. Around here, a lot of people have put up signs saying "2goes2far". Vote No on 2. That is the stem cell prop. In Northern Michigan, we passed a lot of signs that said, "Cops and Docs agree...Prop 1 is bad". Prop 1 is the medicinal marijuana one.

"Does it involve some sacrifice on the part of the American people? Yes. ... This amendment, I am sure, will be attacked--thousands of jobs will be lost, we will find some obscure scientist, some will talk about the dangers of encouraging the use of nuclear power. The fact is, we are going to win on this issue. The reason we are going to win is because every single month there is another manifestation of the terrible effects of what climate change is doing to our Earth."
Hmmm.

The OJ factor. Go back in time to October 3, 1995 when OJ Simpson was acquitted, by a mostly all Black jury, of the murders of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman. The not guilty verdict had more to do with race than evidence. The jury's not guilty verdict was a sort of referendum by Black community on so called unfair verdicts of Blacks, note: although not all Blacks agreed with that jury's decision. Now we have a similar thing occurring in the Black community where we have e 98% of eligible Black voters voting for Obama for 1 reason and 1 reason alone. Obama is Black, well partially Black, he is one of our own and they could care less what policies he may bring to office. Black business men who employee more than 15 employees are excited, euphoric about one of their own becoming President of the United States, but are scared to death how his tax platform will impact their businesses and the Black community. Higher taxes, government regulations impose higher cost to doing business, and something which fails to get mention is this. Although most small business, local dry cleaner, restaurants etc., do fall under the $250,000 tax hike level, it is the small businesses which employees 15 or more employees that were responsible for creating over 1.2 million new jobs. Last hired, first fired. Unemployment will rise when and if Obama can put his tax plan into service.

I know that the polls have been wrong before - and that no one has ever won an election based on polling data, but if the polls at RCP are anywhere close to right, VA, OH & PA look like they could all fall Obama's way. All of them show a trend in Obama's favor, so unless McCains' ground game consists of convincing voters to lie to pollsters, all of them look good for Obama. If any of them do follow the polling, McCain is done.

OBAMA, Japan (Reuters) – Dancing, singing and playing the guitar, residents in the sleepy Japanese fishing port of Obama are readying to party for Barack Obama before Tuesday's U.S. presidential election.
Around 50 men, women and children wearing "I Love Obama" T-shirts practiced hula dancing over the weekend for the Honolulu-born Democratic candidate, hoping he will win the vote and one day visit the town as U.S. President.
"I'm 85 percent confident that Obama will win," said hotel owner Seiji Fujiwara, who heads a group backing Obama in hopes that the town, with a population of 32,000, can share his fame and attract more visitors. "I think he'll be alright."

It was 72 the year I lived there and I think the towns (Phx, Tem. The CAP had just initiated work and there was a lot of "water politics" in the air.

BAGHDAD – Iraq plans to cut its 2009 draft budget to $67 billion in light of falling world oil prices, finance ministry officials said.
Iraqi authorities set the original draft budget last month at around $80 billion, based on expectations that the average price per barrel of oil would not drop below $80.
But prices have slipped sharply since summer highs. On Friday, oil for December delivery was down $1.44 to $64.52 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by midmorning in Asia.
This is good news going into the winter,,.they should also help with the prices of food, and---------they raised their prices cause of the high price of fuel, if not someone should find out why,,a little over sight not a bad idea---------in indiana--- one gas station was selling for 1.95 per gallon, 1/4 mile later another station 2.75 per, they say they only make a few cents per,,,,,someone should look at this???

I was there in 1951. Not only were the towns completely separate, but Scottsdale and all that growth out towards Camelback didn't even exist. That was a trip into the moutains to see the marker in honor of an Indian Chief. We lived a few blocks down from the "Insane Asylum" as they were called then and on the way to school each day, I used to chat with a gentleman on the inside with just a chain link fence between us.

You must have tried pretty hard to come up with that conclusion, as I was not comparing Simpson and Obama, but the coming together of the Black community in 1995 supporting Simpson in spite of the evidence, and in 2008 supporting Obama, a person who is lacking in almost every category except delivering speeches, dresses well, and seems like a nice guy. BTW Simpson just became a convicted felon.

The trend data clearly show Obama ending the campaign with an upward movement in support, with eight to 11 percentage point leads among likely voters in Gallup's last four reports of data extending back to Oct. 28. Obama's final leads among both registered voters and likely voters are the largest of the campaign.

Solar, anyone who's been around the block once knows that gasoline (& diesel, I presume - and all other refined petroleum products, I would guess) prices rise in anticipation of increased crude prices, and lag behind actual decreases in the price of crude. It's a great gizmo for the oil companies to maximize their profits at our expense. Does Exxon achieving record profits in both up and down crude markets this year surprise anyone? The only thing that drives gasoline prices down is decreased demand.

Anselm,
As for you O.J. comparison, how is it any different than when Charles Stuart killed his wife and blamed it on a black man? Racial tensions were inflamed because everyone believed him. It worked so well Ashley Todd used the same play book. There was never the same energy in denouncing these slurs as there were in believing them.
BTW, dont deny you are race baiting because you are accusing blacks of supporting Obama only because he is black, just like they supported OJ. Many of the blacks who rejoiced in OJ's acquittal were happy that someone that looked like them was able to game the system. They recognized that it took a ton of money to do so...not much different than Scooter Libby in that regard.
If temperament matters with dogs, why shouldn't it matter when picking a president?

Solar,
I'm keeping my fuel surcharges up. I'm definitely lowering it slower than the fuel price is coming down.
In the end, I will charge whatever I choose and the market can decide whether to support me or not. personally if I owned a fuel station and someone asked me what I profit I made on fuel I'd tell them it's none of your business go next door if you don't like it....

There is a darkness in there that absolutely leaves me cold. I think he is a very unstable and could be a very violent person.
My ex was in the Navy at the same time McCain was. He was on one of the ships that McCain's fellow sailors were transferred to after the Forrestal incident. He hates him because of the stories that the sailors told him about McCain. He said that the sailors blamed him for the large death toll in that incident. He said that the official account of that incident was altered to make McCain out to be a hero because of who his father was. He's not voting for him because of that as much as anything else.

Good advice from NOW
From the National Organization for Women:
6 Actions For Election Day
On Election Day, let's see change in this country. Let's get feminist candidates to Washington, D.C.! Here are six simple ideas of things you can do on Election Day to help secure feminist victories.
Get the word out about feminist candidates! Tell your friends, family, and neighbors.
Obviously, you can't vote if you don't know where to go. Remember to check where your polling place is and what you need to bring to the polls. To be safe, bring a photo ID and, if possible, your voter registration card.
VOTE!!! Be prepared for a long wait by bringing a folding chair or two -– you don't want sore feet to keep you from voting!
One thing to know is that your right to vote is protected. Know your election protection resources -- if something goes wrong, you may need to act fast! In that vein, you can Twitter from your cellphone to protect the vote.
Time to use your cellphone to get out the vote! Call your friends and remind them to vote, and tell NOW President Kim Gandy that you voted using Twitter. Sign up and let your feminist voice be heard.
Elections can be an all-night waiting game. You can track the polling results on websites such as CNN. In the days after the election, go to the NOW PAC website to see how well feminist candidates did.

The sailors on the ship said that McCain should have had his safeties set on the napalm missiles on his plane. If the safety had been set on them they would have blow up in place instead of firing into the sailors who were trying to fight the fires. He was only suppose to have them off while in the air. He said those sailors blamed him for their friends deaths. He also said that the footage of the Forrestal fire was shown on his ship and they could see McCain running the opposite way while others sailors were running toward the disaster to help.

All I can say is wow...
"In its broad strokes, McCain's life story is oddly similar to that of the current occupant of the White House. John Sidney McCain III and George Walker Bush both represent the third generation of American dynasties. Both were born into positions of privilege against which they rebelled into mediocrity. Both developed an uncanny social intelligence that allowed them to skate by with a minimum of mental exertion. Both struggled with booze and loutish behavior. At each step, with the aid of their fathers' powerful friends, both failed upward. And both shed their skins as Episcopalian members of the Washington elite to build political careers as self-styled, ranch-inhabiting Westerners who pray to Jesus in their wives' evangelical churches.
In one vital respect, however, the comparison is deeply unfair to the current president: George W. Bush was a much better pilot."

Don't know if you guys know about the anti-obama billboard here in West Plains Mo. It's right over the hill from me. Very Very degrading sign about Obama. A nut case owns the land. He also put up one about Kerry in 2004. That one didn't make the national news like this one. I just heard that someone set it on fire last night. I'm going to go look. I hope they burnt it to the ground. I was very insulted. But I would have been just as insulted if they had done it to McCain even though I don't care for him. Bear,
Try to stick with the question and not change the question because the answer may seem unsettling.
98% of the Black community or even a higher % will vote for Obama. Now let me ask you a question. Have you been polled as to who you would vote for? Are you aware of other Blacks, who have been asked the same question. Now if you want to bitch about something bitch about this. Black polls are never mentioned on national TV so here is one you may want to review, but it still doesn't go to the underlying question as to, "why". See, living in a Black community myself I know why they are voting for him, and there are other reasons other than the fact he is Black, but thanks to much of the liberal news media you'll never hear those questions asked nor their answers.
http://www.sacobserver.com/government/102108/black_solidarity.shtml
Words that have been mostly forgotten are the words that meant the most when spoken, when their true feelings are exposed. I am of course referring to the words of Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton spoke during the primary about their opponent, Obama. It is the 3:000 am and the phone rings, and this, or the presidency is no place for OJT.

If that's what your friend told you, he was woefully uninformed. The United States has never had a napalm missile. They had and used napalm bombs during that time period. The two most common were the BLU-1 and the BLU-27. The first was assembled in the field just like a lightweight hollow cannister about 20-inches in diameter and close to six feet long. They looked very much like external aircraft fuel tanks. The second was preassembled and shipped from the factory with a proprietary blend of napalm. Both were in the 750-pound class.
The canisters were fitted with a mechanical/electric fusing system that culminated with a couple of WP igniters. When the filled canister was released from an aircraft, a lanyard would initiate the fusing sequence. The munition was designed so that any high-G impact would set the thing off. People should also realize that the things were very thin skinned; if they were dropped more than a few feet, they would burst open and napalm (essentially like 100-gallons of jellied gasoline) would be splashing in all directions waiting for any source of heat to set it on fire.
It wouldn't make any difference if the munition was armed or not armed--same problem. Both types were gravity bombs--they had no propulsion system and could not possibly be 'fired' at someone or something.
I've supervised the building of _many_ of these bombs and I've personally mixed thousands of gallons of napalm. The scenario could not have unfolded the way your message described it.
If it was a different type of munition, the chain of events would undoubtedly be different. And, my conclusion might be different, as well.

Anselm,
If it's 3 AM and it rings at a McCain White House, he'll be out drinking with some strippers...that doesn't worry you?
As for your polling question, I have never known anyone who has ever been asked to participate in a political poll. If he is drawing 98% of the Black vote, Obama is pulling republican voters.
Around the convention time, the Guardian did a great story about black delegates to the Republican convention. The only black candidates I saw on my ballot for any offices in the State of Texas were Republicans. If they were to fall into the 98% for Obama, I think it would be more having to do with voting for the candidate who is a symbol up academic and personal achievement. I think they are making a statement that it's better to be a self made man and not another person using family connections to erase their fuckups and then get a chance at the brass ring.
While blacks may be 40-1 in favor of Obama, how do you explain his popularity with hispanics? Obama doesn't look latin to me.
How do you explain that its been 40 years since a Democrat won a majority of white voters? Why aren't you railing against the monolithic block of whites voting Republican?
If you are greeted by two stray dogs on the street, one is polite to you and one growls and tries to bite you, which one do you adopt and which do you put down?

Solar,
The victim thing is a no win game. There's nothing unfair about Exxon's profit. They made an investment
developed a product and we all want it.
The degree of profit doesn't make it unfair. You can't say 1 billion...fair, 2 billion....fair, 14 billion....not fair
Since when did scope determine fairness?

"Although he now crusades against wasteful military spending, McCain had no qualms about secretly lobbying for a pork project that would pay for a dozen Bridges to Nowhere. "He did a lot of stuff behind the back of the secretary of the Navy," one lobbyist told Timberg. Working his Senate connections, McCain managed to include a replacement for the Midway in the defense authorization bill in 1978. Carter, standing firm, vetoed the entire spending bill to kill the carrier. When an attempt to override the veto fell through, however, McCain and his lobbyist friends didn't give up the fight. The following year, Congress once again approved funding for the carrier. This time, Carter — his pork-busting efforts undone by a turncoat Navy liaison — signed the bill.
In the spring of 1979, while conducting official business for the Navy, the still-married McCain encountered Cindy Lou Hensley, a willowy former cheerleader for USC. Mutually smitten, the two lied to each other about their ages. The 24-year-old Hensley became 27; the 42-year-old McCain became 38. For nearly a year the two carried on a cross-country romance while McCain was still living with Carol: Court documents filed with their divorce proceeding indicate that they "cohabitated as husband and wife" for the first nine months of the affair."

Flatus--
All I know is what that man said to me. In thinking about it I don't know that he told me that the missiles were napalm, but I do know that he said that the sailors said that the safeties were off when they shouldn't have been. He also said that the sailors told him that at least McCain should have been man enough to drive the plane off the side of the ship to further save lives. I just know that he hates him terribly because of the incident and did so long before he ever started running for POTUS.

"On Thursday, KGMB9 News reported that Hawaii's top health official, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, was trying to defuse rumors that Barack Obama was born in Kenya by saying she had seen the birth certificate herself, but said Hawaii laws aimed at stopping identity theft prevented her from releasing the document despite multiple requests to do so.
Fukino failed to resolve the controversy by disclosing whether the "official document" she saw had been generated in a Kenyan hospital or in a Hawaiian hospital.
To date, Obama and his campaign have refused to disclose the name of the doctor delivering the candidate or the precise hospital where he was born.
The main reason doubts persist regarding Obama's birth certificate is this question: If an original Hawaii-doctor-generated and Hawaii-hospital-released Obama birth certificate exists, why wouldn't the senator and his campaign simply order the document released and end the controversy?"

" the still-married McCain encountered Cindy Lou Hensley, a willowy former cheerleader for USC"
Bear -- I have so many problems with McCain -- but that ain't one of them. First, I don't know what was really going on in the whole deal, and second, I know what my husband was like after Vietnam, and he wasn't even a POW. In his case, he just became more brooding and depressed from time to time. But the change was there. So I try to not make judgement calls on marriages in general, and post-combat situations in particular.
While we were in Germany, post Vietnam, I knew that many a night when my husband's pals came over, it would be a long night of drinking and talking about "Nam." Then the ones who lived on base would be too drunk and/or depressed to drive out of the city and get to the base, and I'd make them pallets on the floor....feed them coffee and scrambled eggs the next morning and consider it my share of the war.

I'm always amused by the right's ignorance of google -
The 23-year-old junior lieutenant wasn't paying attention and erred in using "a power setting too low to maintain level flight in a turn," investigators concluded.
The crash was one of three early in McCain's aviation career in which his flying skills and judgment were faulted or questioned by Navy officials.
In his most serious lapse, McCain was "clowning" around in a Skyraider over southern Spain about December 1961 and flew into electrical wires, causing a blackout, according to McCain's own account as well as those of naval officers and enlistees aboard the carrier Intrepid. In another incident, in 1965, McCain crashed a T-2 trainer jet in Virginia.

I know you are going quiet in order to let the voters speak but I have a question that I think you can voice an opinion on...
Assuming an Obama win, especially with coattails, how will credit for individual race victories be parsed?
What if there is a race where the Clintons were on the ground at events for a specific candidate that did not get an appearance from the national ticket, does Hillary pick up a chit or does that go to the president elect?

You all may think I am an idiot or crazy and I don't care because none of you know me. I am just a person who has cared about politics and this country very much for many years and have always, well almost always, voted Democratic.
I am still sitting on the fence and those little pickets are starting to hurt. I have not partaken of the kool-aid from either side. I have listened to the pundits/media on both sides except Keith O and the only time I have seen him since he dissed my girl Hillary was on SNL. I just loved what they did to him and was glad to know someone else felt the same way as as I did about him. Hey I used to write him atta boy emails when he called GWB on the carpet. Now I can't stand to look at his face.
I have even given Fox News a equal share of my media watching time. It is the only channel that is not pro Obama all the time. I have never watched Fox before but started after Hillary lost.
I think both candidates are facing a situation that will be overwhelming and neither will be able to fix it. I think both will try to do their best to do what is best for our country. I do not think either will be able to fulfil their promises. What is worse is that whoever gets the job will most likely get the blame when they can't fix this mess just like the Democratic Congress did because they couldn't fix the problems when they got a few more on their side.
It does scare me what Obama, Pelosi and Reid might do to us. I was so happy for Pelosi when she shattered her glass ceiling and so disappointed ever since. I would like some checks and balance in government. The decisions about any selection for the Supreme court does worry me more than anything else. That may be the deciding factor in the end.
I may need a drink before going to the polls tomorrow but I don't drink and I since I will hit them before work I couldn't do anyway.
I was really ready to push the button for Obama and then my little intuition guy popped up and reminded me that he has some worrisome friends that he wouldn't really explain. His campaign keeps changing the tax numbers for who they think are rich. Damn I never knew I was rich before.
I have had to work multiple jobs most of my life. I have multiple advanced degrees and have lived and still do more modestly than those young people who make a a small percentage of what I make. I only started making a better salary for the last 10 years. Being single and having paid off most of my modest stuff leaves me with a big tax bill but no incentive check came in my mail.
These last several years I was finally able to start socking away money for retirement and then I lost most of that. I am still mad about that money and Obama saying he will spread around what I have left doesn't make me feel good. I have to start saving all over again.
I want those of you who won't fall in line with what most of the rest want you to do to know that I respect you for that. It is not an easy decision. I certainly wasn't that crazy about Kerry when I voted for him but I never had this nagging feeling about him like I do Obama. We knew more about Kerry. He had more of a track record. Obama just doesn't have that record and then there are those little things that most of the media want to hide that keep slipping out.
I do think that Obama will win this election in a big way and my little vote won't matter. But as with GWB I may want again to reserve the right to say well don't blame me if things go wrong. And mostly, I am still not over Hillary's loss. I haven't come home yet. I will just have to sleep on it and worry about it in the morning.
Sorry for the rambling. Long day at work. Thanks for letting an idiot share.

Jamie,
No doubt....the market will replace them if they get out of hand. What's interesting is that most of the real, substantial developments in alternative energy are being funded by big oil. They'll just be replacing themselves.
What's funny is that at $65 oil alot of promising technologies are out of the money. The heroes that you speak of getting rid of the greedy oil companies need big oil to keep the price up for their business models to make any sense.

Fact: my daughter and her husband say that the most beautiful wedding they've ever attended was that of one of my daughter's best college friends and his partner -- it was in Kansas City, MO, at a spectacular hotel, huge ice sculptures, unbelievable food -- just the swankiest thing they ever attended. (Her friend inherited his dad's business, and has taken it to new financial heights...)

Above $250,000 is rich if you consider five times the median household income wealthy. Since I'm on the west coast and knowing the cost of living in this vicinity, it's still darn well off. So congratulations on your taxes going up 3%. I'm glad to hear you are doing so well.

ET,
I admire your passion. Too bad you are doing it from thousands of miles away. You could be here in the USA holding an Obama sign outside a polling place tomorrow, instead of selling gasoline, junk food and cigarettes, all of which should be outlawed by a forward thinking government.

Euro Tom,
Why do these guys keep making mistakes on the tax numbers. I don't see Richardson or Biden as people who would give inaccurate info. They just may be more realistic. Biden may put his foot in it but it is not because he is not telling the truth, it is because he is too honest and too honest is not good for a campaign.
Bill Moyers has a wonderful program on last Friday. He had two people on who I don't remember their names but have seen them both before. You can probably still see it on PBS online. It would be worth the time. Both I would call liberals, a woman and a black professor. You probably would know both of them.
They did point out that neither candidate was being truthful with the American people. At this time being totally honest wouldn't get anyone elected. People can't handle the truth.
No I don't make close to $250,000 but with no deductions, I still pay lots in taxes.
I am sorry that Grandma won't be able to see her grandson win this election. I do believe she already knew. What a sad time for Obama.
Euro, does Obama even support civil unions? I never heard him say that. All I have ever heard him say is they should be able to visit thier loved ones in the hospital.
Posted by: ct | November 3, 2008 6:33 PM
I heard an excerpt from Obama where he said if you make over $90,000 you are in the top 6% percent for income. That surprised me.
My salary is really not that good when you consider I get no benefits or 401k contributions. Those benefits probably account for an additional 20+% of many incomes and most don't count for taxes.

IMO Obama has more of a chance here in Missouri than is being shown in the polls. I have seen a larger number of Obama signs here in southern Mo than I ever saw for Kerry. And I hear more people talking positively about him.
And the ap radio news here locally said that at the rally in Springfield, MO sat. night drew 40,000 people. That is roughly one fourth of the population of the city. (metro area is much higher). I know there were people from out of town, but that is still HUGE for this area. Springfield is a bastion of Republican support. It the area from which both Roy Blunt, Matt Blunt, and John Ashcroft are from.

I seem to be posting this daily of late. It is the L curve
http://www.lcurve.org/
If your TOTAL household income is over $100,000 you are wealthier than 95% of the U.S. population. You are down near the end zone of the football field in the graphic. That tall red line on the touchdown line is the majority of all the wealth in the U.S. controlled by a very, very tiny percentage of people and most of them got it through inheritance not their own efforts.

Good news from "reading the tea leaves" :
A lot of talk from the McCain camp seems to be about how great Palin is doing as of late. In other words, they are already looking past this election and setting their sights on Palin in 2012. The GOP does not waste anytime - and they are realists - at least in private.

that's a good "odds" game.......how long after nov 4, assuming she loses the VP, Sarah Palin remains "politically viable".
15 minutes of fame or 15 rounds and the championship of the woild........and how long to the jumping of the shark.......in seconds, minutes, hours, months, or years.......
Posted by: sturgeone | November 3, 2008 7:33 PM
The biggest reason I am hoping for a landslide is to possibly put an end to Sarah Palin's national political ambitions. She spews too much hate and division for me. And does it with a smile and a wink. It obviously does not bother her to do so, in fact she seems to enjoy it. It make me wonder if she has a conscience.

You have to wonder about someone who can say viscious things and completely distort the truth with a wink and a smile. No matter how you slice it, she is either totally brainwashed or power mad, neither of which belongs in political office.

CC.....there's one issue wherein I have a total disagreement with you and that's your love of Florida.....OK, I wasnt there long.......4 years........and it was more baja alabama than florida per se.......(nebulous small town between tallahassee and Pensacola.......[shudder].........) I realize that everyone has one's typical experience no matter what area they're in, so I must say it was mainly the climate.....the climate did me in.......I ripped Florida out of my road atlas and made a solemn vow that the only way I'd enter florida again was if I dropped dead on the state line and fell the wrong way........and Orlando?? I just cant see it........Silver Springs, St Augustine, the crazy house, yep, I can see dat for a sprint if need be, but to live there? The heat begins in late Feb. and lingers until early January.....that's simply unacceptable warmness......I DO take note of the fact that while you have what I judge to be a sentimental fondness for the state of florida, you actually reside in DC......(which is also known for unbearable summers, I suppose....)
But anyway, I was posin' on that for a bit this afternoon, and I guess finally reached the conclusion that for some people climactic heat appeals to them moreso than it does to others.......

Second, I'm reposting this from late last night - sorry. Please ignore if you have read it or just don't like my posts.
***
Flatus - I couldn't agree with you more. The machine has grabbed a stranglehold for a while, but it won't last.
ETom - Updates on the Prop 8 campaign:
We are seeing new ads re Prop 8 - a pix of Obama and a statement the he is opposed to Prop 8. Also, a pix of Arnie with a statement of his opposition.
Then it turns out that Steve Young, former Niner qb, has signs in his windows and on his law in opposition to Prop 8. Of course, he's Mormon but recently a big group of Mormons wrote a letter to their church arguing to stop Prop 8. The Youngs also gave $50,000 to the campaign against it. Seeing as how I am a fervent Montana fan and disliker of Young, I can't say I believe he deserves the credit for it as his wife's name is coming up more than his. But if he does deserve the credit, it'll be the first thing I give him credit for. HA - but I do mean it.
The ugly story is that Jeff Kent, former Giant and now Dodger, is apparently saying he's for Prop 8 and gave $,500. When he was a giant, he was a constant agitator of Barry Bonds, also a trouble maker, but Kent openly talked about it, so I'm not surprised he's so small-minded.
Ugly ugly thing from Palo Alto - police chief told her officers that if they saw any AA's, they should have sonsensual contact with them. She says it's not profiling, tho I have no idea how she comes to that conclusion. It's hard to believe.

The Obama Camp, has been the one spewing racism, sexism andevilness, from the start of this election. Gov. Palin, isn't the one calling people racist. You people do understand, that this is an election right? There are Two Parties trying to gain control of The Government. They are not trying to be each others buddies. I don't hear Obama, or Biden, saying anything nice about McCain\Palin. It wasn't the Republican Party, that tore it's party into two. It wasn't The Republicans, who called people from their party names, if it didn't support someone else on their ticket. Like it or not Democrats, it was your Party, that divided it's Party. It's prety bad, when your an AA women, and being called a racist, by your own Party, simply for not believing in the candidate they picked. The that is mean and evil for your ASS.

(11-03) 17:51 PST Anchorage, Alaska (AP) --
A report has cleared Gov. Sarah Palin of ethics violations in the firing of her public safety commissioner. The report, released Monday, said: "There is no probable cause to believe that the governor, or any other state official, violated the Alaska Executive Ethics Act in connection with these matters." It was prepared by Timothy Petumenos, an independent counsel for the Alaska Personnel Board.

No matter what happens tomorrow night - Sarah Palin ain't going anywhere.
And if you are a self-identified Democrat, liberal or progressive - and Palin makes you viscerally angry - it probably when she is at her most effective for the other side.
The Right loves her a heck of a lot more than they "like" McCain....
And do you really think the GOP is going to get rid of her because she plays "fast and loose" with the facts, sticks in the knife with a "wink and a smile" and plays on the politics of division . . .that is the trifecta they are looking for!!

I just think that if Sarah Palin is going to be a major contender for public office then we might as well put Rush Limbaugh in public office as well. They are of the same cloth IMO.
You don't have to tell me anything about the trifecta because I am quite well versed in Republican political tactics. I am from a blue blood republican political family in Missouri. My Uncle was a state rep. for years, and my whole family was involved in his campaigns and those of other high ranking state officials. Some still are.
It was watching their tactics and listening to them plan various ways of attacking their competitors underhandedly that eventually turned my stomach and caused my departure from the party. Makes for an awkward Thanksgiving eating under all the pictures of family members shaking hands with Ashcroft, Blunt, Bond, and Bush. Not to mention all the goading I get. This Thanksgiving might be kinda fun though!!!! Hope so!!

You sound like me saying they should have put the fence on the eastern boundary of California and informing people that if they didn't like dust, hot wind blowing in 50 mph gusts when the temp was 100+ for two weeks at a stretch and the ground trys to shake you off like a dog scratching for fleas, then just leave the place to the natives (ignore that gorgeous ocean, it's filled with great whites only a little bit beyond the end of the pier).

I have a very hugh problem: I live in Pa, The Steelers, are playing The Redskins iin Monday Night Football. Now The pundits, have said " If the Redskins win, so will McCain, but If they lose, then Obama will win." Now I really love my Steelers, right now they are winning. Everybody knows I am voting for McCain, but I sure as Hell don't want the Steelers to lose. WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO?

Obama must has figured out he no longer need PA, OH, IN, W VA, KY, and any other coal producing state. Let them go bankrupt. And here is a little diddy everyone will love.
A NEW REPUBLICAN ROBOCALL.
Hillary Clinton:
A lifetime of experience I bring to the White House, I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience he brings to the White House, and Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002.

You more likely to speak your mind when you are running aganist someone, than later on after that someone has beaten you.

Wrong. You are more likely to speak your mind when you are not on the campaign trail.
When you are running against someone - you will be overly negative. And when you lose and have to endorse - you will be overly positive.
Neither is the truth.
Obama will bring intelligence similar to Bill Clinton along with the organizing power of a Republican and the ability to communicate like Ronald Reagan.
And his speech in 2002 was the correct call on the biggest Foreign Policy issue facing our Country.

Lampe - I feel your pain re the football game! I hope your team wins as long as Obama does too. I've had trouble deciding which team to root for since Montana
left so usually have to go with something like the design of the helmet!

I think I have to agree with Hillary once again - McCain could destroy the country.
Sturge - I'm one of those who loves to sit in front of a fire and read or have a drink and talk or just think - it makes me feel comfortable and safe and content. I have a very low tolerance for heat.
Heat kills more people every year than all other weather phenomena combined - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Just saw a great ad re 'no on prop 8' made like the mac/pc ads. Apple's on the right side of this.

"... new reports of the democratic presidential hopeful’s connection to another racially divisive public figure—the stridently homophobic Rev. James T. Meeks, an Illinois state senator who also serves as the pastor of Chicago’s 22,000 member strong Salem Baptist Church.
Described in a 2004 Chicago Sun Times article as someone Barack Obama regularly seeks out for “spiritual counsel”, James Meeks, ...
... a major state-level ‘family values’ pressure group that lauded him last year for leading African Americans in ‘clearly understanding the threat of gay marriage.'”
On a more personal level, Meeks has reportedly blamed "Hollywood Jews for bringing us Brokeback Mountain" and actively campaigned to defeat SB3186, an Illinois LGBT non-discrimination bill, while serving in the Illinois state legislature alongside Obama."
