Lyndon Baines Johnson was supposedly depressed on the night in 1964 as he pulled off one of the greatest legislative achievements of his presidency -- the Civil Rights Act that outlawed most forms of racial segregation.
Asked by a young aide, Bill Moyers, why he seemed so glum, Johnson, thinking about his beloved Democratic Party, reportedly said, "We have lost the South for a generation."
Even if that quote is merely the stuff of legend, the sentiment behind it was prophetic. In short order, Republican Richard Nixon launched his party's so-called Southern Strategy, turning the region into a GOP base by campaigning against desegregation policies such as "forced" busing to integrate schools.
Barack Obama's election on Tuesday to become the nation's first African-American president proves that by doing the right thing Johnson and his party ultimately got their reward -- points in heaven and votes on the ground.

Newsweek -
-- The Obama campaign was provided with reports from the Secret Service showing a sharp and very disturbing increase in threats to Obama in September and early October, at the same time that the crowds at Palin rallies became more frenzied. Michelle Obama was shaken by the vituperative crowds and the hot rhetoric from the GOP candidates. "Why would they try to make people hate us?" Michelle Obama said to a top campaign aide.

From the Let Sarha be Sarha file _
"The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books."

A proposal in Missouri would require the state to produce 15 percent of its electricity from clean energy by 2021 (approved). A California initiative would require all utilities to generate 20 percent of their power from renewable energy by 2010, and 50 percent by 2025 (rejected).
----------------------
One of the reasons this Missouri proposal passed is because several wind projects have come online in Missouri in the last year. The local press has been good, mainly written with the benefits to small towns, and land owners explained in those stories.

What info could be on SoetorObama's original HI BC (if there is one) that would cause him to hide it from the American people? The only fact that would be disqualifying - the birth location.
How do Obots explain his refusal to make his original BC public? They don't. There is no justification for this secrecy. Obots don't like to be reminded about this issue because they have no answer.

Craig, an excellent historical connecting of the dots. As someone else said earlier, "Rosa SAT, so Martin MARCHED, so Barack could RUN." The bittersweet tears of Jesse Jackson and Oprah last night in Grant Park spoke volumes on the struggle from LBJ to the present. Thank our heavenly stars that we have arrived at a point in our history when we can say Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" is one step closer to reality.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- With his political future uncertain, a weary Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, looking at bit deflated, left a gathering of supporters to go home and get some sleep. With 96 percent of precincts reporting, Stevens - the longest serving Republican in the history of the Senate - led Tuesday with 48 percent of the vote compared to 47 percent for two-term Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich, a Democrat.
Stevens' lead was fewer than 4,000 votes with more than 40,000 absentee ballots to be counted within 10 days.

Funny story, my local State Senator, Kim Brimer lost his reelection bid even though every police and fire dept. endorsed him, every mayor in his district endorsed him and he had some teacher support.
I met him at a realtor function and when I was introduced to him by the Pres. Elect of the Fort Worth realtor's association, he looked at me like I kicked his dog. Even though he was our preferred candidate, I made a mental note to vote against this ass...

Stem cell research is now legal and without nearly as many restrictions in Michigan. Cliff Taylor, the GOP incumbent Chief Justice on Michigan's supreme was upset by Democrat Diane Marie Hathaway. He was the first incumbent to lose in 24 years. The repubs still hold a 4-3 edge in Michigan's supreme court. It was 5-2 , but one justice often broke ranks with the Repubs before, so instead of 5-2 votes, the votes often ended up 4-3. We'll see what happens now. Oakland County in Michigan will not be represented in Congress by a Republican for the first time since 1933 after last night. Not to forget beer and wines now going be allowed on Sundays in Holland.

GORDO, from FactCheck.org Annenberg Political Fact Check.
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html
Born in the U.S.A.
August 21, 2008
Updated: November 1, 2008
The truth about Obama's birth certificate.
Summary
In June, the Obama campaign released a digitally scanned image of his birth certificate to quell speculative charges that he might not be a natural-born citizen. But the image prompted more blog-based skepticism about the document's authenticity. And recently, author Jerome Corsi, whose book attacks Obama, said in a TV interview that the birth certificate the campaign has is "fake."
We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.
Update, Nov. 1: The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed Oct. 31 that Obama was born in Honolulu.

I just remembered that I heard something interesting this morning on NPR and even if it wasn't presented in this context, could offer some insight in the whole Rev. Wright thing...
During World War II, in our segregated South, Nazi POW's could enter into a restaurant and eat a meal anywhere, while a black man in the uniform of the US Army was forced to go in the back door and eat in a segregated area.
If you are met with that knowledge, why are you unable to express your outrage, especially when you fought in Vietnam and couldn't get a cab, while in your own Army uniform, because you were black?

The republicans of today can't take credit for the work of people they repudiate. Republicans who helped pass the 1964 Civil Rights Act, like Sens. These are such revealing statements. What do they reveal? A TOTAL lack of knowledge about the BC/COLB issue. I'm so glad you made that post. It explains why Obots have such difficulty understanding all of this -- you are not alone -- I'm not attacking you. The BC records are not open to the public -- they are sealed. A BC is made available to only the person named on the BC and certain family members. SoetorObama is refusing to authorize the release of a certified hardcopy BC.
------------------------
"The main reason doubts persist regarding Obama's birth certificate is this question: If an original Hawaii-doctor-generated and Hawaii-hospital-released Obama birth certificate exists, why wouldn't the senator and his campaign simply order the document released and end the controversy?
That Obama has not ordered Hawaii officials to release the document leaves doubts as to whether an authentic Hawaii birth certificate exists for Obama."

No GORDO, it is you who do not understand.
The records are not sealed. However, persons who do not have a compelling interest are not allowed to get copies of the certificate. This is not a plot by Obama, it is a precaution taken by states to protect the public, collectively and as individuals, from identity theft and impersonation.
It is not up to the President Elect or his campaign to release anything. YOU are the one who wants satisfaction. They couldn't care less about your delusion, and they owe YOU absolutely nothing.
So, I repeat, get off your lazy ass, go to Hawaii, get access to view the document through FOIA. By doing so you can gain the understanding that the rest of us already have, and leave the life of ignorance behind.

GORDO you are PATHETIC! Don't you get it? Obama is President-elect. How you can be such a stupid shit at this historic moment is unfrickenbelieveable. You might have 1, 2 or even 3 people here who "appreciate" your garbage and paranoia, but most of us are sick of hearing you trash anything and everything Obama. He is NOT a manchurian candidate, just as you are not an investigative reporter or even someone who shows a modicum of intelligence.

Did you notice that there is no quote from an official? What you have is something written by the AP.

Gordo,
I and several others have argued this subject with you for months. I think what's frustrating to me, possibly others, is that there does not seem to be any conclusion at hand. You've already stated that government officials lie. Anything that's been offered contrary to your position (AP, factcheck, fightthesmear, etc.) you disbelieve. So, I'm curious, how does one "prove" to you something that it appears to me you are unwilling to believe?

Gordo, you are pathetic.
"Health Department Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said Friday she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate."
What, you want a direct quote with quotation marks and everything? Health Department Director sounds a lot like an official to me. I suggest you fly to HI and interview those folks - maybe that will satisfy your need for punctuation.
Annenburg's people have seen and touched and photographed the document (they btw are very evenhanded in their criticisms of the respective campaigns' claims), and AP (recognized as the most credible of all the news gatherers) has talked with the officials at the HI health department who can confirm that the Dept. indeed has the original document, and who have confirmed that the original document is in their files. If you don't believe Annenburg, AP of the officials they cited, so be it - you'll never be satisfied until you hump your ass over there and lay eyes on the dingus yourself.
And I realize the short form COLB is not the hospital-generated form, which btw is NOT the official document. Don't believe it? Try and get a driver's license using your hospital "BC". The state-generated BC form is the official form, which is recognized by every federal, state and local government agency I've ever dealt with, but through an oddity in HI law, they have reversed the names of the documents as compared to the convention used in other states.
Step back and think about what you're suggesting that two people who had a kid in HI (or somewhere else as you suggest) did. The contortions that would have had to be done in '61 to secure something that would not matter for 47 more years (and was inconceivable at the time - that being BEFORE THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT was passed ) is just beyond the pale.
IMHO, you are the one who is low information, but then you believe the crap you link here from wingnut sites, and frankly, I think you've lost your mind on the issue. I suggest you fly to HI to disprove what Annenburg and the AP has reported since you've got nothing else to show. While you're there, say hello to Elvis and Jimmy Hoffa - they're not dead, you know, and I'm sure they will meet you at the airport to help you in your quest for the truth. And linking to your own posts don't impress me much.

xr - shhhh. That's because he's hiding behind the legal system. The judges are in on the scam. And the RWNC judges on the SCOTUS are just waiting for Berg's appeal so they can finally show that they are really leftists and are in on the conspiracy to hide the truth. All those decisions that have been APPARENTLY supportive of Bush and the RWNCs are just cover so that no one will suspect them when they affirm the dismissal of Berg's suit. The appointment of Roberts and Alito were the final steps in that part of the conspiracy, that started with the appointment of Scalia and Thomas.

"... holds Obama's original birth certificate."
As I've tried to point out, a HI BC can be issued to an infant not born in the US -- it's a fact. There may be an original BC, but notice there is no quote saying he was born in HI. That was from an AP writer.
----------------------
"Annenburg's people have seen and touched and photographed the document ..."
Annenberg like in Chicago Annenburg Challenge. What a coincidence !!!
============
UPDATE: FactCheck's photos of Obama's paper birth certificate proves, once and for all, that their image of it was a forgery!
"From the high-res photos that FactCheck provided, I was able to confirm a number of my findings that exposed the FactCheck COLB image as a manufactured forgery. To get everyone up to speed, there has been one, and only one forged image. From this one source image, several copies were generated. One was kept by the Obama campaign while one copy went to the Daily Kos, and the other went to FactCheck. Both the Daily Kos and the Obama campaign cropped their images before posting them on June 12. The Obama Campaign posted a very small, low-res copy to their "Fight the Smears" website, while the Daily Kos image was cropped close to the borders but left in its original size. FactCheck posted their uncropped image to their website four days later on June 16."

One more on high finances, than its back to serious times again
The Stock Market... a better undertstanding
once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the
villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each.
the villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went into the forest and started catching them. the man bought thousands at $10
and, as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort.
he further announced that he would now buy monkeys at $20 for each.
this renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching
monkeys again. soon the supply diminished even further and people
started going back to their farms. the offer increased to $25 each, and
the supply of monkeys became so small that it was an effort to even find a monkey, let alone catch it!
the man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50! however, since
he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy
on behalf of him.
in the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. "look at
all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected.
i will sell them to you at $35, and when the man returns from the
city, you can sell them to him for $50 each."
the villagers rounded up
all their savings and bought all the monkeys.
they never saw the man nor his assistant again, only monkeys everywhere!
now you have a better understanding of how wall street works.

I didn't see this earlier today.
Blue, When we moved here from California fifteen years ao, I had never seen laws like that. In California they sold liquor in markets and every where else 24/7 since I was a kid. So when I got to Texas, it was all new to me. Since we've lived here, so many of the laws on alcohol sales have changed in so many counties, that I was assuming it'll end up happening everywhere. I understand you aren't happy about it, and I was not and am not promoting the idea in any way. Especially, considering the raising crime rate correlation that you mentioned (which I didn't know about).
I concluded (possibly in error) that things will keep changing in the direction I've seen them headed in other areas. I'm sorry if that offended you and sorry your county changed something you'd rather have stayed the same. :)

Hey Bethy we missed you!
We started drinking at 4:30 PST -- We had a pretty good array of sparking wines Gloria Ferrer blanc de noir, Korbel Chardonnay, and Domain Napa Reserve. Food was pretty good too. My neighbor makes a great seven layer dip and another brought an artichoke dip that was quite tasty. And our guests from Santa Rosa carved the Obama symbol out of jicama and she also made an excellent dip using Stilton cheese. We also had a squash/kale and apple soup. And apple crisp. People were really happy. The trains won. I'm not happy about my new supervisor but the rest of it (except for prop 8 of course) was ok. I'd be curious to know more about why 7 and 10 lost. I was surprised Prop 2 won but this is their fourth state campaign so they must know what they are doing.

Thanks for letting me in on the secret, Pogo !
If Senator Clinton had won the nomination, I am sure that GORDO would have spent the last 4 months demanding proofs that she didn't murder Vince Foster, ranting endlessly about a coverup, and whining querolously, "Why are there no fingerprints on the deodand ?"
Actually, I don't believe he is up to deodand, but you get my point.

Sturgeone,
This is the end game :
babybush pardons every crook in the gang on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, he resigns, and dirt is sworn in. On New Years Eve, dirt returns the favor by pardoning baby bush. Then, on Jan 3, still in a drunken stupor from his 9 day long Presidential Ascension/New Years Eve celebration, dirt shoots to kill Senator Leahy, but misses and accidently blows away Antonin Scalia.

Wrong. I was for Hillary.
All this about COLB web images, Fact Check, Berg, etc is a diversion from the only question that matters. Why does SoetorObama refuse to authorize the release of certified hardcopy documents that prove he is Constitutionally qualified for the office of POTUS? Why? Can you answer that question? Could it be that he is not Constitutionally qualified? That's a very definite possibility. Don't want to think about that -- do you?

OBAMA'S ELECTION DAY BLOODBATH IN KENYA
So, with the native celebrations featuring public slaughtering of livestock...
In Obama's Kenya village, Election bloodbath Time Magazine
"The presidential candidate's half-brother Malik tied a bull to a tree, then hobbled it, and asked me to hold the beast's head to the ground as he drew a machete across its jugular. "Hold this guy down now," said Malik, 50, eyeing the animal's horns as blood poured from its throat like an open tap. "He could kill me now." After five minutes, the blood flow began to slow, and the fight went out of the animal, which stopped kicking and lay still, breathing heavily."

Gordo,
you sed; "Why does SoetorObama refuse to authorize the release of certified hardcopy BCs and other documents that show he is Constitutionally qualified for the office of POTUS?"
What good would that do and to whom would he release it to?
I ask because you're not willing to accept any response as truthful. You've alluded multiple times to the government as capable of telling lies and said, "what they say proves nothing". You've questioned the truthfulness of the person(s) holding certified documents.
So what would Obama prove in your mind by releasing any information.

You can't pardon someone who hasn't been indicted of anything. Besides, the Bush administration has spent the last 8 years funneling TRILLIONS of dollars to their friends such as Halliburton and AIG; they don't need silverware. The Clintons are small-time crooks, the Bushes are straight gangsta. While you guys wonder what they are going to do, they've already made it half-way to Mexico by now.

That's a good question. Believe Jamie asked the same thing several days ago.
There's never been a situation like this -- there are serious questions about his history. I know you will not believe me, but it appears his past has been "scrubbed". Almost no documents are available to investigators. What does exist is sealed.
Some group would have to be created. Then all documents submitted to a panel of document analysts to determine authenticity.

Tony
I said i was not going to get serious today and im not
Tony---a joke for u named sombich
A filthy rich and gay man in Florida named Tony decided that he wanted to throw
a party and invited all of his buddies and neighbors.
He also invited Leroy, the only Redneck in the
neighborhood. He held the party around the pool in the
backyard of his mansion.
Leroy was having a good time drinking, dancing, eating
shrimp, oysters and BBQ and flirting with all the women.
At the height of the party, the tony said, 'I have a
10 foot man-eating gator in my pool and I'll give a million
dollars to anyone who has the nerve to jump in.'
The words were barely out of his mouth when there was a
loud splash. Everyone turned around and saw Leroy in the pool!
Leroy was fighting the gator and kicking its ass! Leroy
was jabbing it in the eyes with his thumbs, throwing punches,
head butts and choke holds, biting the gator on the tail
and flipping it through the air like
some kind of Judo Instructor.
The water was churning and splashing everywhere. Both
Leroy and the gator were screaming and raising hell.
Finally Leroy strangled the gator and let it float to the
top like a dime store goldfish.
Leroy then slowly climbed out of the pool. Everybody was
just staring at him in disbelief.
Finally the tony says, 'Well, Leroy, I reckon I owe
you a million dollars.'
'No, that's okay. I don't want it,' said Leroy.
Tony said, 'Man, I have to give you something.
You won the bet. How about half a million bucks then?'
No thanks, I don't want it,' answered Leroy.
Tony said, 'Come on, I insist on giving you
something. That was amazing.
ow about a new Porsche and a Rolex and some stock
options?'
gain Leroy said no.
onfused, tony asked, 'Well, Leroy, then what
do you want?'
eroy said, 'I want the name of the sumbich who pushed
me in the pool!

On the other hand, just because these steal on a continental scale, doesn't mean they won't filch the silver spoons. Remember the babybush aide who was arrested for shoplifting 3/$10 socks at Target ?
The accusation against the Clintons in 2000 was simply a matter of some bushcrimefamily lieutenants projecting their own pettiness onto other people.

Maybe so Gordo, until such time, all you can do is whine around here about it. I have no problem with legislation bolstering the article II, but that's not going to happen in the near future and I doubt would be retroactive. So, do your whining, the powers that be don't seem to mind. imo, if it was anyone beside Obama, there would be less encouragement going on. I'm joining RR and skipping your posts.

GORDO,
Good grief. His "past is unknown in many areas." WTH does that mean ??? This isn't fact - this is worthless pablum. It can be said of almost anyone who has grown up poor in America. That makes 1/4 of us suspect in your book, I guess. 75 million of us. In fact, we know more about Obama's 47 years than we do about Thomas Jefferson's, Andrew Jackson's, James Buchanan's, Abe Lincoln's, Andrew Johnson's,US Grant's, Chester A. Arthur's, and Grover Cleveland's lives.
Where's the beef ? Rumors are not beef. The quibblings of questionable 'authorities' aren't evidence, they are drivel. You haven't shown us the beef. Show us the beef, GORDO ! Put up or shut up.

One of the Constitutional requirements is "natural" born status. It's very likely SoetorObama does not have that citizenship status.
None of you can answer the question about why he refuses to release hardcopy certified documents.

Why are you dodging the most important question ?
Where's the beef ?
Why is GORDO refusing to answer this most important question ? The answer is undoubtedly that he has nothing. In fhere is no evidence that Obama was born outside Hawaii. Obviously, GORDO is desperate to avoid answering this all important question because it will unravel the GORDO birth certificate conspiracy. In fact what do we know about GORDO's early life as the son of the union of Donald Segretti and Lee Atwater, living in the many basements of John McCain, constantly on the move.
More on the WORLDWIDE GORDO HOAX INDUSTRY later. Goodnight all.

Lampe - very well done, indeed. Thanks for the softness of you post - my blood pressure fell a great distance.
Chloe - when I lived in Texas, 67-70, we couldn't buy fresh meat on Sunday and only 3.2 beer. It could really ruin an impromptu barbecue.
KGC - you certainly did better than we did. We were still eating dinner when they called it and we never did get to open the champagne!Still a memorable evening.
MQW - I don't know where you got the idea that we were all happy with the media coverage for Obama.
I'd say at least half of us here were disgusted and there were vicious and bloody battles about it. Quite a few of us will not forgive and forget. We just made a decision that we did not want another repub to run things. The first conservative scotus appointment will have me working to get rid of Obama, also.
I had a thought today - yes, I heard you groan. In refusing to recognize gay marriage, governments are interfering with religions and churches. Some churches do perform gay marriages but the state tells them they can't? See why church and state have to be separated? It's better for both. If the state can't stop a religion from making animal sacrifices, how can it stop a church from performing a gay marriage?
