  19. Intrade.com 7:00pm CST update:

Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, and Florida are all predicted to be won by Barak Obama. Montana is predicted to be won by John McCain. The only state that is still close to call is North Dakota. The Intrade markets are now predicting that Barak Obama will garner more than 360 Electoral College votes.

John McCain needed to hold all the states that were too close to call in order to gain enough Electoral College votes in order to win the Presidency. This has not happened.

Solar, If they decide to go with replacing black with black then it is JJ, Jr. very likely. Obama may make Tammy Duckworth head of the VA and she is JJ's only real competition for the job.

  69. Another item of interest. I was picking up the grandson at the youth center on Fort Lewis. Wearing an Obama button going through the gate and at the center getting a quiet, discreet thumbs up from soldiers ... I hope McCain isn't counting on those late mail in military ballots out of Iraq and Afghanistan. They want to come home.

    Posted by: ct | November 4, 2008 8:54 PM

  80. Oh Ping. Meant to toss in this tidbit for you. For all the yowling about the progressive income tax rates, it was one of the saints of the conservative Republicans who proposed it in Wealth of Nations.

One of these days the people who keep talking about the "Invisible hand" really do need to read Adam Smith. He knew that a healthy middle class was the engine that drove successful capitalism and guaranteed wealth.

I have no problem with a progressive Income tax, gifting and helping others.....

I have a problem when bad fiscal policy happens. When social policy exceeds sound fiscal policy. Tax me more but keep my balance sheet intact. But do not spend the money on the crap that happens...

It's easy to have peace when the enemy is gone. When we leave ...

The one thing Biden understood is that Iraq is a phony construct. that is actually three tribes thrown together by the British. Saddam kept a lid on it by mass murder. We have kept a lid on it by splitting them up and putting our people between them.

But, there is a difference between a hand-up, and a hand-out. Obama, wants to tax people who make money, at higher rates, and give tax breaks, to alot of people who don't even pay taxes now. How is that fair. Now maybe you all don't make enough money, to fall into the higher tax brackets, but I sure as HELL do. hey guys, give GORDO a break -- it's true that around $100 million-plus in Obama contributions came from small donors who did not have to identify themselves, and there's some weirdness going on -- but GORDO, you have the MSM (Wash Post/Newsweek) to thank for the reporting job on how some (possibly minor) fraction of the money was bundled in suspicious ways, using pre-paid credit cards, fake names, etc. to essentially collect contributions from single sources that violate limits

  270. The John McCain making that concession speech is the John McCain I loved in 2000. He's been missing for the past year, and I'm glad he's back. I could see him working well with Obama from the Senate, actually. Before he sold his soul to the hacks he thought could help him win (the same ones who defeated him in 2000), he probably agreed politically with Obama more than he disagreed. He can take off pieces of that right-wing costume now.

Gore Vidal is on the television on BBC. "The Republican party love war, love money..." Vidal is shocked that it was so easy for Obama to win. Vidal is a bit odd... He was a great supporter of the Kennedys. "I am thrilled, thrilled. I was brought up in Washington DC, an all black city, in the house of the most powerful senator Day, Thomas (someone).... I know the territory. I surprise you even ask me, I know too much on the subject and you like to get people who don't know anything about the subject. Now it's YOUR turn."
