  2. Craig,
Certainly not the headwaters of the Colorado River in the video.
Michelle Obama may be the better speaker of the two. She was indeed masterful as noted. Maybe one of he best "Re BRANDING" events ever performed!!
This also would help to create a new flow in the under current and a distraction from not only the Hillary issue but as well a great over selling of a product.
The family placement is without doubt and without question - however the activities pronounced by Michelle regarding BHO are found in many and these alone do not substantiate the ability to lead and are a far cry from a validation for BHO to be President of the USA.
good family guy -YES - President? Still not

  3. Good Morning everyone,

Wow! That last thread changed fast. I just posted my unscientific critique
of Monday's convention only to discover we have a new thread. It's quite
    all right, though.

For all of you fellow Hillary supporters, you must read the article in the "Washington Post" today about Hillary's difficult position in the Dem party right now and also about her speech tomorrow. It's quite touching and insightful!

  4. Good morning, Ping! Funny video, Craig.

I flipped to the convention a couple of times. Michelle seemed solid from what I heard.

  5. Craig,

I had to laugh at your video--looking at that murky swamp and your scary
warning was like watching a trailer for a creepy, B horror movie--

"Beware of the Rift Between Camp Obama and the Clintons--The Thing
that Lurks Below the Surface and Threatens to Suck Up the Democratic
Convention into the Swampy Abyss. . .(frightening music in background).

  6. Clinton can't win tonight. But then, she knows that.

If there's a political job more fraught with peril than running to become
the next commander-in-chief, surely it is being cast as cheerleader-in-chief.

  7. Listening to Doris Kearns Goodwin on Imus. In effect, she argues it's time for the Clintons to become pragmatic. She's one of my favorites. I simply don't think she understands.

  13. prof marcia: Thank you for the Wash Posts' link to "Clinton's Thankless Job", a good article. I note the reference to Joe Biden, the vp nominee -- who is a Washington INSIDER who also voted in favor of the Iraq war - which were the two big attacks BO used against Clinton so effectively. This reminds me of my belief that politics is really a game. I recognized this in Obama from the beginning (and even Clinton). I was a Clinton supporter, based on her past experiences and her known support for policies that I agreed with. Now, my enthusiasm is gone for this election and party politics. I will end up voting for the party whose policies seem to coincide with mine. Also, I find this blog more agreeable to my thinking than any other. Thanks to all.

  14. Patsi, the incident is upsetting on two levels. Obviously, there's the fighting words aspect of it, then it degenerates into, essentially, a tally of who does more deals with Whitey.

Where's MD when we really need his spin.

  15. MSNBC is running a poll the choices are: is Clinton helping herself or helping Obama?

Posted by: sock drawer open | August 26, 2008 7:28 AM

  16. Well, if we could vote for the candidate with the cutest kids, I could vote for BO. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, that's not the way it works. (So, was "Daddy" in KC or St. Louis, or, does BO now have the ability to be in two places at once?)

Had to laugh at the MoJo/KO smackdown yesterday. Olbermann is drunk with imaginary power. He out-BillOs BillO. KO can't handle a valid, opposing opinion. It's like anti-matter to him; one day he'll just spontaneously combust.

I think I spotted gordo in Colorado; the woman who told Matthews that BO was a registered Muslim when he was living in Indonesia. Who cares? So what if he is currently a "registered" Muslim? Are we now supposed to pick a prez based on religious affiliation? (No. Cute kids, we vote based on cute kids.)

Why do they think Biden was a good veep pick? Sure, he brings a lot of things to the table that BO lacks, but that just spotlights the fact that BO lacks a lot of things. You don't vote for veep, you vote for prez. (Unless Cheney has permanently changed the view of veepship from state funeral attendee to something less superfluous.) Would've been better to have Hil'ry at the top of the ticket instead of someone with a pretty thin resume to hold the highest office in the land.

Nice to see America's uncle Teddy, again. Also nice to see Luke Russert reporting from the floor of the convention.

Tonight will be the begining of the end for the Dems in '08. I hear a giant sucking sound...and it's the DNC.

  17. corey - Like the Democratic Nat'l Convention isn't a ride. Have fun...weather permitting.

If McCain is smart, he'll announce his veep after Labor Day instead of at the end of the Dem convention. Nobody's gonna pay attention over a long holiday.

  18. Good thoughts, Corey. I didn't watch, either. Stinky and I watched the Olympics closing ceremony which we had DVR'd from the day before. I know we have a bunch of good movies on there, too. Will choose one for tonight.

Posted by: Flatus Author Profile Page | August 26, 2008 7:51 AM

  19. Who even watches these conventions anymore besides the junkies? I remember them being a big deal before the ubiquity of cable TV and before computers were a form of entertainment, but I haven't talked to a single person who actually takes the time to watch the conventions- can't blame them either.

    Posted by: champ | August 26, 2008 7:54 AM

  20. I was only able to see Michelle speak I thought she did an excellent job at conveying her message.

I think many non-Obama supporters are never going to be satisfied, even if a miracle were to occur hard feeling will still prevail.

To me that is really sad....mainly because many will miss out on opportunities that lie ahead. I can only hope that the disgruntled do not give up on their country due to the fact their candidate lost a primary.

re: Kennedy - that family has endured some of the largest heartaches in life, anyone who shows compassion for them should not be mocked.

  21. good morning gang....

Craig.... careful.... I bet there's BIG mosquitos lurking in that there little creek....

I watched the Dem convention on CNN last night.....
Teddy was steady.... and Michelle was swell.....

Craig's observation that it was basically a wasted night was said over and over again by the CNN panel..... the first one to say it was David Gergen.....
James Carville was so upset by it he threatened to get his ass on down to the podium and wake up the crowd by ripping the Republicans a new one..... now THAT would have been entertaining!

I really do want the Dems to recapture the WH..... so here's to crossing my fingers and toes that Rep Jim Leach won't even be in the building tonight and we finally hear why the Repubs don't deserve to be back and why the Dems do.... let's hear some passion!

oh yeah..... I really did enjoy MO's speech.... she did a great job....

  22. As I was leaving work this morning, some woman stopped me and asked me a question. "Do you have a sense of humor?" She asked. "Yes." I answered. "Say something funny!" She answered back. "Right now?" I asked. "Yes!" She said. I was like Obama. No script, I was lost. I tried to tell a quick joke. She didn't get it. Oh well.

  23. Disgruntled due the loss of our candidate??? No, you, the MSM & the entire DNC are missing the point. We don't have any faith in BO as a candidate. Not just that he can't win the gen'l, but that if he did win, he would be an absolute disaster of a prez. Completely un-equipped for the job & who-the-heck knows what he would really do??? e.g., FISA!!!

    Posted by: blueINdallas | August 26, 2008 8:02 AM

  24. Blue-
So you're upset because you don't like the two choices for the GE?

Wouldn't that equate to being upset that the candidate of your choice did not win?.....OR....didn't you like any of them?

  25. forgot to mention....

I really was moved by Ted Kennedy......

and I will give a pass to his sail boating video tribute..... it was shot by Ken Burns..... a fellow New Hampshirite......

I really do hope he gets to have his wish of being on the Senate floor when the new president enters in January.....

I got mad one day and said to my sister, "I don't know how the hell you can root for Michigan St. and NOT Michigan?!" I haven't been able to get anyone to join me in rooting for Michigan and not MSU. All I can tell you is that family gatherings are no longer held at my sister's house on college football Saturdays.

I watched Michelle and she was a straight A+. However I do not like the parade of her children (so young) on stage everytime. If ya trying to be the good parent they should have been at home getting ready for bed...

Tonight I will watch again as HRC will take the podium. I truly hope and pray that she will keep it short and simple. She needs to stay composed and show NO emotion. She is there to do a job, and show that a job can be done under any circumstance. Period!

  41. While Obama is technically eligible to run for President, He Is Not Qualified. I am an African-American, a registered Democrat. Above all and first of all, I am an American. You do not put an inexperienced, untested manager in charge of a large Corporation on whose performance, security and welfare all employees depend on. You hope you don't get a rookie at the other end of the phone when you have a problem and need help. You hope you get a real doctor when you go into surgery, not an intern. I question the Media who just don't get it or don't want to see it and those who want to blame Race as the prime or only reason Obama is "underperforming". We vote for our Representatives and Senators for our own wants and needs. We vote for the President of the United States for America.

  42. I don't care one bit whether the Clintons and the Obamas like each other. What I care about is Democrats getting caught up in the manufactured drama and forgetting that there are millions of us whose standard of living has nosedived in the past couple of years, who long to wake up with the hope that this country is finally rid of George W Bush and his excuse for policies. I have little doubt that McCain's turn to the right since his 2000 bid is not temporary, for if he finds himself in office with an "R" next to his name, he is beholden to the right whether he likes it or not.

I don't want the Democrats playing games with my future and my children's future. If they don't get their act together and stomp the opposition in November, I can easily see never voting again.

  43. I tell you, Sturge, life is funny. Some people are the type you either like or you dislike. There's no in between. That's how it is. I'd never wanna go through life like that. I thought that's how my Dad lived his life. People either liked him or didn't like him and he didn't care one way or the other. Last week, my Mom got a written condolence from a former co-worker of my Dad's. Some woman who said she worked alongside my Dad for many years. She said he was a joy to work with and he always talked about how proud he was of his family and how much he loved them. I was surprised. That was something my Dad never expressed to us. I had always wondered if people were nice to my Dad because of my Mom. But, I guess my Dad did touch the lives of some people. The more you know...

  51. Give your old man a break, Corey. My family has the exact same issues, and others in it place too much of a burden on my own father. He was just a dude; had his own problems, and wasn't Superman, or Satan for that matter. Just a dude.

I'm a love me or hate me kind of guy myself, probably in the mold of my old man; apple doesn't fall far from the tree and all that, but I'd rather have people have an opinion on me than be indifferent towards me; the latter is boring, and life is too short. I'm not advocating actively pursuing alienation of others, but tailoring yourself to suit the approval of others is a sure way to drive yourself nuts. Not for nothing.

And yeah, I'd vote for McCain out of spite for some people. The aftermath would be hilarious.

In watching the event, it is certainly a Kennedy convention, not a Clinton convention.

And it will be hard to unifying two large chunks of voters especially when everyone has the special Obama definition of winning a primary as defined by declaring yourself a winner, declining votes of Florida and Michigan and telling your rival to get out of the primary race. Just like the 2000 election....did we really get the winner?

Perhaps that is "why" the return to the Camelot theme of the Kennedys...the bs really worked back in the sixties. The same cheating and fixing went on during the JFK regime, but the reporting was quite different.

And don't you know that the other half of the dem party will make sure Obama is unelectable even if they have to vote for McCain, stay home of write-in a candidate. That is how it looks to me.

Axelrod is a PR machine and has done an incredible job.

It contains several letters that Stan wrote to various people, many were written after the death of Oliver Hardy in 1957. The link here contains letters Stan wrote after the assasination of JFK. Interesting to read his thoughts.

  73. "Get over it." I am repeatedly admonished!

As a strong Clinton backer I have come to terms with her loss many months ago. I don't sit in a darkened room and opine for what might have been. I was certain since N.H. that the DNC and the MSM would never allow Hillary to be their nominee. N. Carolina and the right honorable J. Clyburn injected race to reinforce my judgement that Hillary's quest was hopeless. The outcome therefore was no surprise to me or many of her supporters.

I AM OVER IT! I get it! But how does that bloody mean I "must" support "The One."
Obama's inexperience, his preening arrogance, his deeply troubling associations, and the stranglehold dependence on far left wing nuts, all buttressed by his incalculable weakness on foreign policy make him the LAST person I could ever support.

  75. I don't think Biden/Scranton is to appease Clintonites as much as it is to pull in Lackawanna County and NEPA in general. For some reason, politicians love to pander to that area, I suppose because it is a bastion of blue-collar sentiment, although it's glory days are over, like 100 years over. If Scranton goes red, PA is lost.

It sort of became a symbol of the little working man against the large companies (they weren't called corporations last century....it was more of a company-town problem).

As a woman, and a mother, and a wife I could whole heartedly identify with Michelle when she spoke about her husband and her children and their future....I have always felt that bond is one that crosses all barriers...we all want our children to have a better world, we want to end wars, we want the environment clean and so forth. We want men to be loyal, involved and dedicated fathers of solid character.

I can't imagine anyone not giving her credit for saying what we feel in such an eloquent manner.

And she stressed that we need to work for it.....just as I tell my children....Her message was timely, and well received...

I have lived in many states in the US and have visited all but Alaska. I find racism rampant throughout the United States...but the "races" actually change positions throughout the country. Cultural differences are at play, I believe. For example, the black hills of South Dakota are filled with American Indian haters. Jokes from that area are often about how many drunken Indians can you get a a car? Yada-yada. I have visited Pine Ridge Indian reservation, wounded knee, etc. To me it is a sad area and I was shocked at the anti-Indian sentiment. More like the movie Thunderheart (Val Kilmer) to me than Dances with Wolves.

Posted by: chloe Author Profile Page | August 26, 2008 10:28 AM

  115. No Champ, it is not her advocates...it is parts of the media and the BO campaign who continues this HRC nonsense by not so subtle ways of making her the vocal point in this ordeal

    1. Telling the media that HRC wasn´t vetted because she was vetted throughout the primary.... Even my foot knows that is BS
    2. Nominating Patti Solis as VP whatevere. Everyone knew then all along, HRC would not be when he made that move

thes ethings will all be USED by the republicans to show what kind of an arrogant and hateful guy BO is. UI said this many times, the rpeublicans will use all the sthings. And whether we like it or not.....It isn´t lies....

Come on....That is why I am saying unity starts with BO and not with DNC, HRC or PUMA or whoever. If Bo wants unity he will get it. He will make it happen...But he doesn´t, he still needs HRC to have airtime, and that is the problem that he is facing now.

As if to heap insult upon injury, the Obama campaign let it be known that it did not for a minute seriously consider Clinton as a running mate, notwithstanding the 18 million votes she earned during the primaries and her demonstrated ability to win over white, working-class voters who remain cool to Obama and are necessary for victory in the fall. Those 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling that the Obama forces conceded could gain a reference in the party's platform are, apparently, just words."

It will inspire her supporters to stand by her -- by supporting the candidate she endorses.

Thanks to the success of the suffragettes, women now have voices and choices!

But most people are totally in the dark about HOW the suffragettes won, and what life was REALLY like for women before they did.

Now readers can discover the shocking truth, and it's as easy as opening their e-mail.

"The Privilege of Voting" is a new free e-mail series that follows eight great women from 1912 - 1920 to reveal ALL that happened to set the stage for women to win the vote.

Two beautiful and extremely powerful suffragettes -- Alice Paul and Emmeline Pankhurst are featured, along with Edith Wharton, Isadora Duncan, Alice Roosevelt and two gorgeous presidential mistresses.

  161. Dog,

    Good question:

I want to see BO just being himself. Not really reaching out to anyone in particular....It is too late to specifically reach out to Clinton supporters who by now have not taken the bait. Just focus on getting elected POTUS by being yourself and stop trying to be someone else.

I think the time has past for the split to be mended, sadly. I think the steam roller mentality of the Obama campaign has gone on too long and they had plenty of time to build bridges instead of burning them down. MObama mentioning HRC and Biden as her favorite white people last night shows that lip service is more important than sincerity.

  164. Well, geez, Jason, as much as I'd like to come off as an authority on just about anything, I don't have my finger on the pulse of the Latino community. I would think that any certain demographic group's influence on the outcome of an election is directly proportional to the pandering to them, and I haven't seen much pandering to the Latino community, although I am seriously out of the loop. I don't consume much media at all lately.

    Posted by: champ | August 26, 2008 11:39 AM

  165. For it was MObama, that stated during the primary process "she would have to think long and hard about voting for HRC in November." Now that the situation is reversed, I do not hear Hillary say anything that comes close to that very crappy statement.

  166. This blog seems to neglect the fact that there are millions of former Hillary supporters that now support Barack Obama.

And for many it wasn't an earth shattering event.....it was more of continuing forward and being a part of the political process in the USA.

  167. Jason, I know that question was to Champ, but there is a larger population of Hispanics in the U.S. than African Americans. Many of them are very loyal voters and probably will go Democrat regardless of who's running. IMO

  168. Dog,

Replacing Reid in the Senate would be good. Not sure if she would want a Cabinet post or Supreme Court Appointment. Shepherding legislation for a Democratic President would probably fit best. The added bonus of a great big backward chin stroke in Pelosi's direction would be nice as well.

  170. Champ,
Because I see the trend that the latino´s are being courted "undercover" by John Mc Cain, while BO is vast asleep. Some of the popular stars are alligning behind JmC and it is not encouraging for BO. He is not doing anything with the latino community.

All her protestations that she is balanced went out the window as hysteria prevailed.

I've never seen anything like it in American politics. Your candidate is about to be nominated and so many of his supporters lash out and seem a little disturbed.

Perhaps there is an awakening that Senator O is a pretty weak candidate whose victory depends on his equally flawed November oppenent imploding.

The most important influencers in the Latino community aren't performers or even Congressmen and women. It's people like El Cucuy and Amendarez Coello who get people activated, particularly young Latinos. So while Congresswoman Sanchez is important, she's not the end all, be all.

  191. "she's not the end all, be all. "

Possibly not, but she is a link to the community and a symptom of the way the Obama folks are treating those connections, particularly given the distrust that exists between the two racial groups. It would be nice to see a move toward unity in that area to improve conditions particularly in urban areas.

No one is ignoring anything. The majority of Hillary supporters are Democrats of Democratically leaning Independents. Why wouldn't they support Obama?

The Obama supporters seem to feel that if you don't immediately jump up and down in ecstatic joy over the prospect that you aren't being supportive enough.

"Clinton delegate and Los Angeles women's lawyer Gloria Allred grabbed a napkin from the tables at the California delegation breakfast this morning and wore it as a gag to protest not being allowed to speak at the breakfast.

"I was not elected to be a potted plant," Allred said through her gag, holding up DNC rules that say delegates must vote as they are elected. Californnia has 204 delegates pledged to Hillary Clinton, versus 166 for Obama."

  216. Fry -- Words sometimes fail us -- and words are not always reliable indicators of how someone really feels. In my day I've said things that did not truly reflect what I meant to say. In some cases, I was able to go back and clarify my meaning. In some other painfully-learned instances, people were only able to hear my first inarticulate expressions -- words that I wasn't able to take back because the listener refused to allow me to clarify. In a lot of those cases people just chose to think the worst of me -- which just showed they didn't really know me.

It happens to all of us. Joe Biden has said some stupid things, Teddy couldn't even tell an interviewer in 1980 why he wanted to be President, Bill Clinton has said some things that came out twisted. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, Michelle Obama included.

John McCain may be older with a longer stint in the senate, but his weaknesses are substantial. He is where we is because the Republicans needed to throw a loser at the voters in hopes of developing a stronger bench by 2012. Since that is the case, it makes no real sense to throw a vote in that direction.

  234. "Don't ever forget this ladies, unless BHO loses this election, you will never see in your lifetime a female POTUS from your side of the aisle."

Now, now,Fry. I don't want to beat beat over the head with Roe OR whether I'll live to see a woman president. With some of the female-instigated sexism I've witnessed lately, I doubt it'll happen anyway.

  235. "No she doesn't Patsi. And if you think that's the case, you are sadly misinformed."

Oops, to wearing the hair shirt, I should have added "agree to listen to droning 'lectures' ad nauseum about our moral unfitness."

  236. There are many people that vote by likability alone forget facts.......just people I know tend to be more pragmatic....I guess I was referring to those voters who attempt to make an informed vote.

  240. jamie,

But the truth is, which you can not deny, HRC is the more qualified candidate. And she will be sitting on the sidelines because you, Hillary supporters, let the DNC, MSM and Team BHO roll you. You all talk a good game, but in reality your gutless to do anything about it. So once again the female has been kicked to the curb. Helloooo

  241. Craig,

Please someone look at the polls since BO announced Biden, FLA Mccain up by 6, Gallup BO lost 6 points to Mccain, McCain is now up by 2 for first time lead ever.
Wonder what it cound be that is moving voters toward Mccain???? Lets see could it be that our beloved Hillary is not on the ticket and BO never never even considerd her for VP. Looks like me and my wife will be voting Republican for first time in our life.

Come-on Alicia, you and I both know the absence is while the post-lobotomy bruising dissipates.

  243. " "first time I was proud of my country" "

All the right wing outlets cut out the "really" in front of proud. Could it have been just an expression of faith restored and pleasant surprise that the husband she loved had achieved so much.

Hardly grounds for eviction as a subversive of some sort.

  244. UB, earlier on you were frothing over Allred's rebellion at the California breakfast.

Is there any truth to what she says about the rules and the delegates obligation to follow them?

  245. "Affirmative action has nothing to do with Obama's winning the nomination"

    KGC

It has a little to do with it in that he got the backing to run sooner with less experience than would be the norm, but he made the race and won on his own. Got lots of help, but he attracted the votes. As with any affirmative action. It got the foot in the door. After that he had to make things happen.

  246. Thanks mel7 for the report. The party hasn't even started. Expect commercials that put BO out by Sept's end. I won't be voting for Pres. I'll vote for the dem senator in my state but GA WILL be RED, and the dems are tripping if they think otherwise.

I didn't have a lot of respect for McCain way back when he was operating in the Maverick edition with the whole Straight Talk Express. Straight Talk only works when you are saying something worth hearing.

  248. "Claire will probably run in 2016"

Now THAT would make me vote Republican.

  250. UB -- I vote by party. As I said, I am voting for Obama. I'm doing so largely because I'm a Democrat -- one who has taken a loyalty oath to hold elected membership in the Democratic Committee. So I'm making a vote based on party membership -- not by thinking it all through. If I were to vote by thinking it all through, I would likely vote for Cynthia McKinney.

  251. Flatus -- According to some state laws, pledged delegates elected to represent primary voters are required by law to vote for the pledged candidate on the first ballot.

At least 12 states have binding voter laws:
Arizona, California, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Virginia.

Posted by: Alicia Knight Author Profile Page | August 26, 2008 2:57 PM

  252. Here is wording from the state laws biding delegates votes to the candidates to whom they are pledged:

"Each person selected as a delegate shall sign a pledge that the person will continue to support at the national convention the candidate for President of the United States the person is selected as favoring until 2 convention nominating ballots have been taken." OR

"Each political party shall, on the first ballot at its national convention, cast this Commonwealth's vote for the candidates as determined by the primary or party caucus." KY

"Each delegate or alternate delegate to the national convention of his political party shall cast their vote on all ballots for the candidate who received this state's vote." OK

"Each delegate to the national convention shall use his best efforts at the convention for the party's presidential nominee candidate who received the greatest number of votes in the presidential preference election until the candidate is nominated for the office of president of the United States by the convention." AZ

"As a delegate to the national convention of the Democratic Party, I pledge myself to vote on the first ballot for the nomination of president by the Democratic Party as required by Section 1-8-60 NMSA 1978." NM

"Delegates and alternates shall be bound to vote on the first ballot at the national convention for the candidate receiving the most votes in the primary." VA

"The delegates to the national conventions shall be bound by the results of the preferential presidential primary for the first two (2) ballots and shall vote for the candidate to whom they are pledged." TN

In an Opinion now appended to his state's binding vote law, the words of the Attorney General of GA reach the heart of similar laws enacted in all of these states: "This section reflects the legitimate interest of the state in insuring orderliness in the electoral process, and it provides a means of presenting the political preferences of the people of this state to a political party." GA

  253. Alicia-
I just don't understand. The oaths I've taken are all based on some superior foundation of principles. Loyalty is of course expected, but only so long as that loyalty supports core values.

So, is loyalty to a political organization intended to be responsive to fundamental beliefs? Or to the cabal du jour.

  254. For all the Obama supporters who have complained that Sen. Clinton has not done enough to support Sen. Obama, you have obviously missed the countless fundraisers and events that she has been to at his bequest since June. New Mexico, Nevada and Florida to name a few. She went and she praised Sen. Obama and told anyone who would listen to support him for President. With very little acknowledment from his campaign and supporters she has done more than any other surregate in the past two months. Also many of you Sen. Clinton critics have forgotten that Sen. Clinton also lost two close friends in recent weeks to tragic ends. The democratic chairman of Arkansas Gwatney and Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones both were great friends of Senator Clinton. But she continued to make campaign appearances for Sen. Obama.

Tonight she will probably deliver a great speech which will serve as a rallying cry to her supporters to come home to support Sen. Obama. Even though some of her supporters won't support him no matter what she says because the reason they supported her was because they did not support him. Regardless if even one of her supporters switches support to McCain, she will be blamed for it. They have set her up to be blamed for his loss and be given no credit if he won.

Tonight I will applaud my candidate and hope that I have the opportunity to vote for her again in the future. In Nov. I will cast my vote for Sen. Obama. If he loses it will not be because of Sen. Clinton and if he wins, it will not be because of Sen. Clinton. He is totally responsible for the result.

  255. Alicia!

Thanks so much for your research re voting obligations of delegates. I'm both cheered and angered.

  256. Dog - that was a nice apology. I don't even know what it was about so no side to pick, I just like a straight out explanation and apology - one of the most adult and non-vain things I've seen here.

I think both Clintons want to beat Bush and McCain, so they don't have to toady to have plenty to say. I think they're going to concentrate on repubs.

I taped Foyle's War Sunday and intend to watch it tonight.

Sturge - as I understand it, you will be back after the convention - right? If you do leave, it will be a case of
"All that is necessary for evil to survive is for good men to do nothing."

Actually, Sturge, why don't you post some of your pianner playing for us here to listen to???????

Posted by: bethyboo Author Profile Page | August 26, 2008 5:45 PM

  257. Sturgeone;.......... Don't go.... a voice of reason.........

Jason; 10:43 am ....... How very true about women who have been elected - even Chile. We're so far behind, we think we're first............

Spike; 12:49 pm ........... Rules don't matter to this DNC, they just make'em up as they need'em............

Lampe; 1:22 pm ............ You can't talk logic or reason to idol worshippers, they have no reason left.............

James Carville was totally right yesterday, this is supposed to be a political convention, not a love fest.

Since Hillary is not the first lady of the campaign anymore, and the attacking and support of BO is up to MO, are they going to turn her back from the Stepford wife they made her into, to the pit bull that she truly is??????......

  258. BTW.............. Any odds on whether Pelosi throws her priest and church under the bus the way obama did???
The letter from the church requires an apology and if she doesn't like the church dogma, she was welcome to find another faith..................................So much for garnering the Catholic vote.............
