Clinton's Folly

| | Comments (378)

It is difficult to tell which is worse for Hillary Rodham Clinton -- what her campaign staff memos reveal or that her staff revealed them.

The massive leak of inside dope on the Clinton primary campaign is remarkable in the annals of presidential election history. Not sure I've ever seen anything like it. The disloyalty to the candidate is breathtaking.

What does it say about Sen. Clinton that so many aides were willing to share private matters publicly? Clearly, many are eager to shift blame to her and away from themselves. That is not particularly new for losing bids.

But giving so many campaign documents to the press? That suggests a certain hostility between candidate and underlings that should give pause to those who believed that Clinton was ready "on day one" to take command of the White House.

Beyond this mutiny, the behind-the-scenes paperwork shows how Clinton horribly mismanaged her own people. Postponing critical decisions until the roof caved in, and then forcing her staff to manage the damage control. Not a pretty picture for running the country.

  1. If Democrats want to win this election, it is essential that Senator Clinton be the nominee for President.

  2. I personally don't feel she mismanaged as much as she opted not to take the low road. She was too concerned with maintaining her dignity and with the good of the party -- ironic, since they then turned around and kicked her in the teeth. She is still worried about the good of the party as she campaigns for BO -- I can't imagine her heart is in it, especially after the low road he took against her, but still she perserveres. That is one tenacious woman and she really does deserve our respect and not the ridicule and villification she receives daily in the press.

  8. CatBalu,

I completely agree with your post:

"I personally don't feel she mismanaged as much as she opted not to take the
    low road."

For the media to suggest that any one thing lost Hillary the nomination is
absurd. The media's complete subjective love affair with Obama and Camp
Obama's constant labeling of the Clinton's as racists, Hiilary refusal to attack
Obama with nuclear-negative assaults and label him as un-American, Obama surrogates trashing Bill Clinton's character and presidency, the travesty of how the DNC lined up against Hillary in their back-stabbing, back-room handling of Michigan and Florida voters ALL contributed to why Hillary lost.

For all the "political analysts" to begin circling like sharks over "The Altantic"
article's memos is inane, petty and myopic.

  10. I agree that the postponement of decissions is killing, and am a bit at unease that HRC postponed critical decissions...... I think the whole campaign came as a shock, ue to the xpolsion of BO, there was no detailed plan B, and that killed her....
On the other hand, one cannot rule by herself. If the input she gets from the aides is bad, her decissions will be also... I guess..

But, this leak to the press is interesting Craig. I do feel you. I think this election made one thing clear. The Clintons are/ were surrounded by shallow people who did not do things to her benefit and are not fit for the title: loyalists, but were there to collect a pyacheck; have no morals at all as to the being faithful to someone.
The Clintons need to start building, cause their coalition, so called firewall, is not only in shambles, it is not repairable..

What to em is continuously striking is how these things end up in the press....Please refer to my commnets yesterday...Striking that everytime HRC surfaces (one way or the other) it is to dampen teh surge of JmC.... Do it on your own Sir...Please do it on your own. If you have the change mantra, you sure as hell no how to do it on your own!

  12. Clinton was a mess as a candidate and probably would have been worse as a president. Refusing to deal with the reality that she has ran her campaign so badly that she was out of the running before she really started winning. Then the arrogance of running up a 20 million debt because of her unwillingness or inability to face reality then expecting Obama to pay for her narcissism. We are fortunate that she did not get the nomination as she is in love with power and would have said anything and did to try and get it. We are better off with both of the Clintons just going away.

  15. CatBalu;......You're right!!!!

prof marcia; 1:48 am...... I agree with you also, to a point. I fimly believe that most of the discredit that comes upon Hillary is mostly media contrivance.

The way the press treated them when Bill was president, and when he was campaigning for her. David Shuster saying that they were "pimping" Chelsea, KO's rants, Rachael Maddow, and Michelle Bernard, msnbc has to be in the tank totally for obama. Jack Cafferty, and others who will brook no disagreement. They all know that if Hillary were to win, the access of the press to the WH would diminsh "a bunch", and who could blame her, not me - if they had of said that about my daughter, I'd be suing the network's ass off.

And we all know that "sources" get paid, especially by scum like the enquirer.

I see that Cindy Sheehan has qualified to run against ms. pelosi......Go Cindy.............

  16. It is sad that some people can´t imagine that none of these two remaining candidates have the ability to lead in my opinion.
The moment you don´t fall in line behind BO you are an angry frustrated Clintonista not willing ot see the big picture. LOL
Well, I am certainly not an angry frustrated Clintonista. I am an American who is seeing that either JmC or BO will be major steps back for our country. I am therefore not voting in November. I am aware that JmC can become the president. But , I do not see major differences with either Him or BO running the country. it is plusses and minusses in both camps and when you come to the end conclusion, we are better off withouth both of them.
There......my reasoning for not voting in November

  17. Interesting. I see your point, Craig, but pretty much disagree with you.

For one thing, if her workers leaked any of this because they were afraid they'd be blamed, I think they were right. They don't show themselves in a good light, fighting rather than working with each other. There have apparently been leaks all along, and you know Hillary didn't do it.

Another thing they have proved is that Hillary knew what was right and wrong, and did the right thing. Bush
was stubborn in doing the wrong thing because he didn't know the difference between right and wrong..

And above all else, even with a staff un-equal to the task, she still matched Obama head-to-head.
The primaries she won were all secret ballots, not an exhibit in front of powerful figures.

Obssessive and rigidly disciplined people might be great in secret ops, but it can be scary in ordinary life.

    http://www.newsobserver.com/opinion/martinez/story/1175422.html

The laying blame on Hillary instead of acknowledging that she chose to take the high road in not attacking Obama's "lack of american roots" and not releasing the tape, is just more of the same from the biased media. The emails don't expose and aren't in line with the media's meme of her being ruthless, her irrational ambition, Hillary will say or do anything to get elected -but it is in line with their own actions of slanted, warped (journalism?) Not directing this at you Craig or including you in the biased media - was thankful during the primary and remain so for your own unique voice. We just happen to disagree on this one.

    dog,

Just what would make you happy in regard to the way Senator
Clinton should mend the division in the party?

She's already given endless speeches in support of Obama and smilingly stood beside him at several events. She has dutifully not signed
the official form to put her name into nomination at the convention. She has
consistently instructed her supporters to vote for Obama.

If there are still large numbers of people not on Obama's team,
please give specific instructions as to how Senator Clinton should
inspire these folks with Obama spirit.

  33. Agree with CatBalu. Hil'ry took the high road, McCain takes the low road...and Mac beats BO on the bonnie, bonnie banks of November.

But Craig, don't you think that maybe she decided to do that because the media would've been all over her if she had done that to their darling? The GOP can get away with it; another Dem, no way.

She would've lost voters and maybe some of the primaries that she ended up winning late in the season as people started to question what BO was really all about. (I haven't gotten a clear answer on that yet.) She made the right move.

At least some folks can change their assumptions about Craig after this article. As most of us can see, he's very equal-opportunity when it comes to political views.

As for disloyalty, can anyone in politics really be trusted to have anyone's back? How long ago were these memos actually made available? Maybe right after BO was announced lord-n-savior? As he has lost his minty freshness, do they have any regrets about doing so? Are they thinking that maybe they should've stuck by Hil'ry because BO is gonna lose & she's gonna be the nom in 2012?

Tried to turn on MoJo out of habit. MSNBC had Russia/Georgia women's beach volleyball. Really? Were they expecting a fight like at the Russian/Hungarian men's water polo match in the 50s? As the announcer said, the Georgian team is made up of Brazilians given citizenship to play for Georgia, so there's not a lot of hostility. Wanna bet the producers who decided to air that match didn't know that? Would this match have been covered if it weren't for the conflict?

We're not gonna play with you if you can't be nice.

People who keep saying this just don't seem to realize that it would require a rule change. Now I realize that the Democratic party has changed rules at every opportunity to screw with Sen. Clinton and benefit Sen. Obama, but wiping out the party obligation for several thousand people to vote as they were elected to do by the population of their states is going a bit far.

Those people have paid a minimum of $5,000 each (most more) for only one privilege: To stand up when their state is called and cast their vote for their pledged candidate.

This desire of supporters of Sen Obama to wipe out the basic rules of a Democratic society is a little frightening and does not reflect well on him.

  66. Dog,

"Even leaving the impression she wanted to take this to the convention, when it was clear her chances of prevailing were so slim, and she really would have ripped the party apart...."

The media can't find statements where she said anything of the sort, so they quote each other "thinking" of "what she REALLY meant" or cut and paste things she does say to make it sound as if she said those things and then the Obama folk fall for it hook, line, and sinker.

She has appeared everywhere he asked her to appear. She has supported his nomination. She has encouraged others to vote for him in November. The only thing she asked is that her supporters be allowed to cast the votes they earned the right to cast even without her name in nomination and with no nominating speeches.

It's a shame all of her supporters can't commit mass suicide to make the Obama people happy, but then we couldn't march in lock step and robotically cast our votes for the ONE and then hold up our purple fingers later to prove it really is still a Democracy.

  69. mornin' all.

dog, with all due respect, your argument is full of crap. Obama's support is weaker in the party than you will admit so you and the rest of his rabid supporters are pulling an Axelrod and trying to blame his lack of support on Clinton, to demonize her for his inability to draw that broad support for his vague promise of change and to change the convention rules to make up for his failings and avoid your fear that the superdelegates won't vote as they have said they will. (Using "you" & "your" royally, not individually). NO democratic nominee for president, at least since democratic conventions began being televised, ever won (or lost for that matter) after being nominated at a convention without the names of the other candidates being placed in nomination. It should not happen this time just because Obama's supporters fear that he doesn't have the support necessary among the superdelegates to maintain his aura in the face of normal convention procedures. FWIW, I don't think placing Clinton's name in nomination will cause the upheavel the insecure Obama supporters appear to be afraid of, and if Obama is as good a condidate as you believe, he should be able to beat McCain handily after securing the nomination - and despite his lackluster polling, he still appears to have sufficient support to win enough states to win in the electoral college, so stop acting like the only way he can win is by being unopposed in the convention. Or keep it up and continue to show your lack of confidence in your candidate.

    Baaaa, baaaa.

  70. What sheep you are-- I guess with your name you've chosen you are trying to insult Hillary supporters. So sorry, but it isn't even close to working as we know better than others that there is no comparison to sheep when it comes to Hillary supporters. The majority are lifelong democrats who have examined their conscience and painfully decided to not follow party lines for the first time in their lives. They have in fact been threatened, been accused of being racist, been mocked and name called yet bravely stand firm in their convictions. They are not blindly falling in, not being sheepled into voting for a candidate because of their party affiliation, instead they have in their opinion chosen country over Party.

``I couldn't see anything for the last 100, my goggles pretty much filled up with water, it just kept getting worse and worse through the race,'' Phelps said."

  89. I'm dealing with food poisoning and so this will be brief but I am now as stunned by reaction to Craig's post as I first was when and evangelical Christian tried to tell me that because the bible "family tree" had the ages of everyone total 3000 years or so, that is the true age of the earth...

Did I see someone was blaming this Clinton issue on the press? I have said since last fall that I didn't think she manage campaigns well. If you think that she was trying to deal with people that were foisted upon her, it doesn't take a competent manager very long to figure out if her team is working well with her and for her. She didn't owe anything to her husband to use any of these incompetent putz's yet she used them anyway.

You say she didn't want to sink to the low road...that's true but I think only because she knew it would push her unfavorables over 50% and into the unelectable category in the general. She acted like a candidate who expected the nomination to be handed to her, very much in the same way McCain is campaigning now.

As for Obama, his biggest problem is that he is getting the scrutiny from the press and many voters that they now regret not giving George W. Bush in the last 2 elections. They chose to blindly ignore the patterns of failures in W's life they are fearful that Obama will yield similar results. I can understand the reasoning behind the argument. So far, Obama hasn't been a failure in his life, hasn't needed his President father and rich friends to bail him out of any messes.

This election will be decided upon the question of whether we want the US to be in a constant war with someone. McCain will try to fight wherever he can to prove that even tough guys have to surrender and I think Obama will do what he can to avoid them in order to use those monies for domestic purposes.

"THE MOST remarkable fact of the 2008 presidential election is that it remains a close race. Democrats have not known such favorable political terrain since 1932, yet what should be a blowout is looking like a blanket finish.

The fundamental reason is white men. Like Al Gore in the summer of 2000, Barack Obama is roughly splitting white women. But only 34 to 37 percent of white men support Obama, according to the Gallup Poll's latest weekly index of 6,000 voters

What I have particularly learned from all the leaked papers is that Mark Penn really is a nasty person. I can truly understand why Obama supporters do not want to help Hillary reduce her campaign debt when he was behind a lot of the ideas for negative campaigning. Also, he's like a pig in the trough. How much money did he suck up from hard working people who contributed to Hillary's campaign because they wanted to help her? It just makes me shudder.

"It seems that a Democratic delegate committed a cardinal sin against The State.

    She criticized The One.

In true Orwellian fashion, the delegate she emailed did his or her “job” and reported the dissenting email to The Comrades. The General of the Colorado Democratic Party, William Compton, also did his job as well, and sent her a loving “Democratic” Party letter.

“You are hereby directed to come in to the party Headquarters and explain your comments and why you should remain a national delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in light of these comments,” the letter said"

  136. "trying to blame his lack of support on Clinton,"

    Pogo,

Sorry to jump in here, but I don't think Obama or his supporters are blaming her for any lack of success he's experiencing. I (some) think they could be a little more supportive in tamping down her most ardent fans i.e. PUMA. I'm not familiar enough with the DemCon rules to understand how that's being interpreted, but it's obvious from her support (comments) here, that many feel there's still hope for her nomination and that, I'm sure, doesn't help Obama.

One of my concerns is the notable lack of support by "so -called" Democrats. It seems now that many are really just fair-weather members of the party. This is particularly noticeable among Hillary's voters. I have to assume many would rather have McCain in the office rather than another Democrat. Oh, many say they're not going to vote either way, but what good is that! Or,they live in a red State. Same thing. Yeah, it's everyone's right to vote their conscience, but the Dem party is more than Obama, it represents many issues.

This blog is probably an intense microcosm of the general public attitude. There are strong, intelligent voices on both sides of the equation. If we are strong here, then we are probably strong elsewhere. That spells "opinion leader" to the powers that be.

Because Craig is so balanced in his analysis, we haven't turned into a totally one sided piece of the political spectrum. We all tend from moderate to left with a couple of farther right contributors, so it probably reflects the likely voters fairly well when combined with more substantive materials such as polling and registration.

  142. Erasing The Race Factor
Barack Obama has a problem. He really, really doesn't want this campaign to be about race. He wants it to be about change, President Bush, the economy, gas prices, Iraq, Afghanistan -- almost anything else. But it is going to be about race, at least in part. That's the lesson of recent weeks, when the McCain campaign brought up race (on the pretext that Obama had brought it up first). The Obama campaign tried desperately to change the subject but couldn't. Once the chum was in the water, the media sharks went wild.

  143. Rez, I disagree in part, based on what I'm hearing coming out of the Obama camp. The solutions being floated to his failing to secure a convincing hold on the nomination and what should be a solid lead over a weak Republican candidate strike me as based largely on ACOCD criticisms of Clinton (actually both of them) and manipulation of the convention rules and procedures to avoid an anticipated embarassment that is based on going into it with a virtual tie in support and lack of confidence in the outcome. You may disagree - fine - but that's what I'm seeing and hearing from the Obama supporters, including such "unbiased" political commentators as Maureen Dowd, who defines Anti-Clinton Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

  148. Chloe,

This is exactly the thing I was talking about where the media puts the most negative or altered spin that they can on quotes or events.

"One day she's on a YouTube video talking about the need for a "catharsis" at the Democratic convention, which sounds suspiciously like a demand to have her name put in nomination for a roll call. Then an interview surfaces of Bubba refusing to say Obama is ready to be President. And close aide Howard Wolfson rips the scab off the primary wounds by saying Hillary would have won if the media had exposed John Edwards' affair earlier. "

The You Tube clip is an ANSWER to a question from a disheartened backer and if you listen to the whole thing it concentrates on "counting" not nomination. The Bubba quote was so sliced, diced and pasted that unless you went looking for the whole video, you never heard all the praise he heaped on Senator Obama. Wolfson is Wolfson. He likes to stir things up but is hardly quoting either of the Clintons.

This constant confusion between News and Opinion and the way the two keep merging of late and then get slathered with slant is really infuriating.

  150. "Clinton horribly mismanaged her own people. Postponing critical decisions until the roof caved in, and then forcing her staff to manage the damage control. Not a pretty picture for running the country."

This summarizes Clinton's campaign perfectly. I think Clinton's other fault (along with the media) was giving her supporters the false notion that the race was 50/50 after February. This deluded them into giving her more and more money that was flushed into her campaign black hole. Maybe that's why those same supporters won't give her any more money to retire her debt?

  161. The dramatic effect of a firm nudge

"In the past three decades, psychologists and behavioural economists have learnt that people’s choices can be dramatically affected by subtle features of social situations. For example, inertia turns out to be a powerful force. If people’s magazine subscriptions are automatically renewed, they renew a lot more than if they have to send in a renewal form. Moreover, people are influenced by how problems are framed. If told that salami is “90 per cent fat-free” they are far more likely to buy salami than if they are told it is “10 per cent fat”.

No sensible person could argue that government action should be limited to nudges. But too often governments resort to coercion when gentler approaches, preserving freedom of choice, are at least as effective.

Here's a further thought about Hillary...

The more you analyze the Clinton campaign, the more you realize that she thought she could invoke her husband's presidency and right that good feeling back to the White House. She was hoping this would outweigh her high negatives.

I think it's most telling that her husband stuck her with his worst advisers. If he really wanted to get her elected, he would have had Carville and Begala come out of retirement and she would have then had things wrapped up on Super Tuesday.

Instead, she got served a shit sandwich, she showed how clearly vulnerable she was after all and that's what started the negative press and feeding frenzy which I think many Clinton supporters point to as being unfair and over the top.

  187. dog, that 11:22 post is based only on the "facts" as viewed by the Obama campaign. As I posted earlier - the $16M figure was pre- IA & NH, and Hillary won the primary of those two. That also fails to mention that not all that money was spent in those 2 states, and of the primaries that were contested in the next month or so, HRC won better than half of them, including FL, NY & CA. The 3 a.m. phone call ad was certainly not racist, and only tortured logic gets it to even appear to be. Did Hillary consult with Bill before running it? Probably - he is, after all, her husband, the ex-President and the only Democrat since Johnson to twice run successfully for President. I suppose that "fact" is too inconvenient for the script. Of course, none of that fits the bash-Clinton-at-any-opportunity script, so it goes unsaid.

You may not be afraid the superdelegates will defect, but you are apparentlly afraid of the possibility that her supporters who want to "claw back the nomination" will be driving the action on the convention floor. I don't think they will, but supporting the chicken sh*t approach of changing the convention format and rules to create an appearance of unity while rejecting a democratic process that has been in my estimation the hallmark of the convention does not show the confidence you profess. The bottom line is that you don't trust Hillary and Bill to fall in line as good little Democrats at the convention and profess fawning allegiance to Obama as the savior of the Democratic party and the nation, isn't it? That's fair enough if that's your concern, so long as you acknowledge that as the source of your reservations about a vote on the floor.

They are part of the Democratic party and not THE Democratic party. They'll get to speak and then leave the stage. Finally. Maybe some of you can hold a vigil outside their home to mourn their political demise.

The sad fact is if Ted Kennnedy had given Carter as much support as HRC has now given Obama we would have not had a Reagan presidency and If Jesse Jackson had done the same for Dukakis, we would not have had a Bush presidency. Who is behind Obama.?
Maybe they just fear HRC is as low as they are. But time after time she has proven she will take the high road.

  194. I have a hard time believing what I am reading here. Her campaign was one of the worst run in history. She blew through money needlessly in her largely uncontested Senate campaigns, then found her campaign dead broke a long way from the finish line. She had staff defections and more leaks than any other campaign out there. She changed messages every two weeks. She ran scummy ads (3 AM) and claimed the republican nominee was a better leader than her democratic opponent.

She then sought to aggressively undermine the entire process to advance her own interests by going back on her word about Michigan and Florida (set aside that this was a stupid process to begin with - it was equally stupid for everybody). Fortunately for all of us, she failed. With all the class that I've come to expect from her, she then played the victim, blaming sexism for her own shortcomings and mistakes.

It's a shame that she was the first woman with a real shot. We should have all hoped for a woman that more competent - there are plenty out here.

I'm amazed at the unhinged support for HRC in the face of all the facts that clearly show her to be completely unfit to run this country, despite her obvious brilliance and good intentions. She's a bad manager.

While the past may have looked different had Teddy (who btw has been lionized by the Obama campaign) and Jesse (who has been largely ignored as an irrelevant relic of the past) not run for president but had been good little followers and supported Carter and Dukakis, that is all unsupportable speculation. Reagan and the economy beat Carter in '80, and Bush 41, invoking a 3rd Reagan term in effect if not in fact, beat Dukakis in '88. But aside from that, HRC has been supporting Obama. Maybe Edwards can step into the role of Obama cheerleader - wait, I guess that's not the best of ideas.

  211. Jack, Julie and Oregon Democrat, thanks for all your comments. In 2004 I volunteered for the Democrats to knock on doors. The meeting for the volunteers was all about Obama, not too much about Kerry/Edwards. I was given 2 big buttons to wear for Obama. I liked the guy and was ready for CHANGE. Spent 4 Sundays knocking on those doors. Obama gets in the Senate, not really having any opposition and gets a million dollar grant for the hospital his wife works at, then his wife Michelle gets a $200,000 raise. Then, he is in Senate for a year and decides to run for President after he promised he would not.

I was not a Hillary supporter, but didn't feel Obama had any experience, and he sure didn't do anything for Illinois. How could he when he only spent a year in the Senate. And, I don't like his associates, you know the ones the media never talks about

So much for CHANGE, same old politics but a little bit dirtier from what I had seen in this primary and the DNC bias toward the Clintons.

There have been anti-Clinton (both Bill and Hillary) and anti-Bush books too numerous to name. I believe that with her on the ticket, you have a guaranteed landslide and better pull in more of the red states for Congressional seats.

By every measure of where he has weak points (unstudied areas not flaws), she fills the gap. Why keep trying to match him with this person or that person for one positive when you can get all the needed items in one nominee.

Maybe that's because as HuffPObama (and Washington Independent) columnist Ari Melber put it about the Atlantic article: "The promotional material promises an article that "reveals the backstabbing and conflicting strategies that produced an epic meltdown." Using internal memos and a few stray emails, the article delivers all the turmoil and muddled strategies. Green does not come close to proving, however, that nasty infighting caused Clinton's loss. Like most campaign dissection, the piece is so far into the weeds that it misses the big, substantive problems that felled the front-runner."

It's Barack's obligation to win over enough voters to put himself in the White House. As long as Hillary isn't caught speaking in code or parseltongue to her supporters, a loss will be blamed on the candidate and his campaign advisers, not former opponents, who are not on the ticket with him.

I watched as much of her as I could stand on Larry King the other night. The gag reflex started hic coughing after about 15 minutes. That she is Speaker when California has women such as Feinstein and Harman is practically criminal.

According to this article in Scientific American, all the people alive on Earth today only amount to 6 percent of all the people who have ever lived. So the dead still FAR outnumber the living.

  261. Besides her poor showing as House Speaker. When she set Jane Harman down, she did a disservice to the country, imho. Pelsoi sure sucked up to George also. Every time I saw her with him, I would have liked to remind her she was a democrat, not a freaking republican, to stop with the palsy walsy stuff with George.. The thought of her and Obama running the country together, does not inspire confidence..

  263. I could be all wrong, and hope i am in regards to the murder and apologize in advance but I'm going to say it anyways because I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a politically motivated murder, someone going after the Hillary super delegate.

Here where I live people drive around with old bumper stickers till they fall off. I know for a fact that I'm in Clinton country and I never see one Hillary sticker.. I also know someone will say that is because no one still supports her here. Not true, we all knew them and have never heard a bad story around here about them, as we do with other celebrities. People are scared to show their support. I was interviewed in May by The Washington Post- the comments were absolutely vile. I received nasty, nasty emails. For instance, I was told to go kill myself all because I said I wasn't going to vote for Obama. Yet the Party leaders still say I'll fall in line and we will have unity in Nov.

Why can't we all agree to disagree without all the accusations of not being a true Dem, a yellow dog dem, of being a racist, selfish, irrational and all the other put downs. If the Obama supporters want unity, insulting us daily isn't doing the trick. Nor is shooting anyone. I am admittedly bitter today and I'm sick of being scared.

Sorry for my rant, but I try to live without regrets and if Gwatney was murdered for his political stand, and I was too scared to question the murder motive and acknowledge the fearful atmosphere , I would regret it.

  264. Good grief, I just saw all the back-and-forth about the Atlantic article upthread.

That story was interesting, but hardly revelatory. It basically provided higher granularity to a story whose broad outlines have already been reported in various places going back months. Nothing more than that. So all of this talk about it being "the end of the Clintons" is nonsense. Get over it, Clinton haters.

  277. The Obama supporters are nervous, and it's because their candidate isn't getting the job done. His job is to win voters. His staff can intimidate people all they want, but he is the one out there talking to the voters - he is on stage. That's where the commitments should be made by the voters.

If she can upset his apple-cart, how will he do with people like Putin and Medvedev and Ahmedinejad sp?)
and Chavez and other real brutes? He has to start showing he can accomplish something on his own.

I head it said several times by talking heads that his campaign was better but she was the better candidate.
The primary really ended up in a tie, bu there was no jump ball because the dnc was scared of the Clintons.
They want a leader they can control - they like having the power.

She is still a better candidate, against both McCain and Obama. Obama supporters know that and that is why they can't take their eyes off her. They will always be afraid of her.

The Democartic party will not be recognizable in four years. The fumble-butters have assured that. If they were smart, they take'd Hillary at her word and stop obssessing about her.

Of course, that's just my opinion, which I am entitled to.

  303. I am bemused by all the women who have been named to speak at the convention. I get the feeling that the dnc is trying to convince us that women are important to them and will have a big part in the party.

If this is true, what they are showing is how woefully they fall short of understanding why so many women are disgusted. Speaking at a convention is not the same as being treated fairly. This seems to me to be a very superficial attempt to get us to "come around",
and what it is doing is insulting us.

It is a big mistake to dismiss make light of another's
complaints. I understand the complaints Obama's supporters have about us, and would never dismiss them - I know they are serious and they take it personally. I don't like the way they state their complaints, but the important thing is that the dnc doesn't realize we are as serious as they are.

The damage to the party is being done by the people who are discounting the women who are angry. It will change the party for good.

Women get to speak at the convention - thanks. The reality is that women get to speak any time they want and do not need permission from the dnc. They are talking about how they didn't like what was done in the primaries, and what they wii do about it.

I will vote for Obama once but not twice unless he stops blaming Hillary and DOES something.

  344. You Obama supporter's make me sick to my stomach. What is it exactly, that you think she should do for him. She has went with him to campaign, and she has done it on her own also. If Obama loses it will be your faults, because you can't keep from trashing The Clintons. I don't know if this is everybodies first time at voting or not, but you better read up on other races. The only reason Obama, has the support of Kennedy, Kerry, and Edwards,is because they couldn't win on their own, so now their trying to get Obama in, so the can feel better. What Phonies,If you actually think this man is better for The Country, you are living in LA-LA LAND,just look at all the hate and racism,he has managed to achieve, just from his supporters.

  346. I wrote this yesterday to Chloe's post & the only response I got was pretty much what we all seem to get here if we defend Hillary in any way or critize anything about BO

    =========================
Chloe:i think it's already a tragedy ... all you have to do is look at this blog, not to mention ALL the BO's supporters blogs or watch the cable/msm news ...

Clinton Supporters are talked down too every day .. calling us "sore loosers" , "won't accept reality", wanting to change the rules. etc. etc, etc ....

When the suppporters of BO drown us out whenever we try to bring up facts, not wanting our voice to be heard at all, especially at the Convention ... The Tragedy is already HERE!!!

  351. I'm astonished that you're blaming the betrayal by those on Hillary's staff as being her fault. It's clear to me that there were moles planted from the beginning, and that there's something bigger here than meets the eye.

Hmmm interesting reading, Thanks GORDO .. I went to the Channel 7's web site to watch the interview with Sasha Millstone also ... seems now that it's "out there", now they are going to drop it .. but I wonder .. would they if she hadn't gotten a lawyer??
Oh, also, in my last post here, this type of story about how Hillary supporters are being treated, just proved my point .. did anyone check out the link "Get Help" sent me???

  352. ahh...... in 72 in columbus ga. with the snake man still......the one who got away.......but she still has no comparison to the one I went home with.......a beautiful scandinavian girl who took me home with her and with whom I sat in the parlour......as it was, I heard some sounds........I enquire as to the origin of those sounds.......she says, "oh, my stupid brothers are playing poker.......I says, of course, "Where?" She gets up and says, "This way...." I follow, she opens two slidiing doors and there at a dining room table are 7 Brides for 7 Brothers........Five of the biggest, most Favio looking fellers I've ever seen at one sitting....

They look at me.......I look at them..........she says, "This is my brother Lars......and this is Hans.......and this is Fritz.......and this is ....etc....5 of them.........
some of the friendliest cats I ever met......could not thank me enough for seeing their little sis home......We ate sausage and drank beer and played poker till way past sun-up..........

I cut this story way short and left out a lot.

  371. Back about 7 or 8 years ago, a lot of people I knew on the internet had their own websites. Many of them had counters on their websites so they could keep track of how many hits they had on their website. One guy named Dan was particularly proud of how many hits his website got. I was told he also had the technology to track just who visited his website. His website is long defunct.

Here's a sample of his writings:

  373. Craig I have always though that you are not like the rest of the MSM journalist who don't do their job and content with singing praises to the Messiah.

Guess you want KO and MSNBC to keep inviting you to their show. Guess you don't want to suffer the same fate as Dana Millbank. Guess you need to earn some dough for your family. Guess I have to understand your situation. But please don't call yourself an objective journalist. Call yourself an Obama surrogate.
