Another McCain Summer Fade?

| | Comments (142)

mccain_fade.jpgSummertime is not John McCain's best season. Last year he got a media death warrant. And now he's getting another.

A year ago McCain was deemed unwinnable and shown the door. But instead he soldiered on and beat the odds. As they say in motorcross, he didn't crash and he's going huge.

But nowadays McCain is not looking so huge. Another media death warrant is in the works. As each new state poll arrives, Barack Obama looks stronger in the Electoral College.

Still, last month McCain raised about as much money as Obama collected, and the two are not outrageously apart in cash on hand. But that hasn't persuaded the political world from downgrading his chances, even though last year it was McCain's far worse fundraising performance that initially soured the chattering class.

McCain is getting no breaks again. No matter how Republicans spin things, right now McCain seems destined for another lousy summer of news coverage.

He beat the heat last year. Maybe he can again.

  2. Good Morning Lovely People!

Jason -- Last night my kids and I were watching "Hacking Democracy," the HBO Documentary on how Diebold voting machines can be hacked into. After all, Kerry conceded after all the exit polling said he'd won, after he said that he would fight for the votes to be counted.

Now I was just thinking, that was only about 3-4 years ago, the movie was made in 2006.

Have they got all those vote-counting software irregularities fixed yet? I don't recall seeing much on this issue lately, although people were talking about it a lot in 2004 and 2005. Now all is quiet on the voting machine front.

Maybe McCain has a good reason not to worry?

  3. So, the media is appearing to have made their choice before the show even starts? Again.

This summer will tell us more about our 'so called' main stream media, and our election process, than it will about McCain.

If the media continue to slant their coverage, then the question is why. The same question some have been asking since January. So many unanswered questions, but the writing is on the wall.

'The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.' Oh, lord.

    LOL....Maybe so.
I do sense a real weird vibe form the repub side. They seem so silenced and doing things on the low. It is not worrying for me, but I do have the sense that at a certain point they will come charging to the net....If I was happy about the democratic nominee, I would feel otherwise.....

@Chloe: Don´t be to sure about that. The media is pulling a curtain. Hopefully we will not fall for it. However, with the American people you never know. I mean.... exhibit A: Hillary Clinton.

On an whole other note, my dad send me a videoclip of view co-host Joy Behar on Larry King. I have banned CNN, but seen as dad sent it, I watched. LOL
Why do some people always feel that they can talk for everyone else? Joy, twice said that she absolutely knows that the Hillary Women (!!!!) will definitely vote for BO. No doubt.... I just don´t get it. For me it is not about the vote or the women of Hillary or whatever...The thing that strikes me is that certain people always seem to have the audacity to talk for a whole group. Stop it allready.......

  8. I think Craig was about the only one saying not to count McCain out the last time. I know the MSM is trying to spin every molehill of an increase in BO's numbers into a mountain, but that's not gonna fix BO's problems.

The more BO flip-flops on issues, the more folks see that he can't think on his feet & is simply good at reading a teleprompter, the more they see his arrogance and ineptitude, the easier it will be for the GOP to crush him in the general.

I will never vote for BO. He would be a disaster as a prez & he shows, increasingly, that he is untrustworthy.

It doesn't matter who he picks as veep, nothing is going to solve the problems of his alliances, his record & his character.

Once Hil'ry starts spewing the BO garbage, I will have no trouble voting for McCain.

  11. Thanks Chloe!

Now for the voting machines -- I think it is the local boards of elections that decide what to use. I know this is the case in my own county, where we have a mixture of machines. In each precinct there is an Optical Scanning machine, which reads paper ballots marked by the voters. But in the last couple of election cycles, each precinct also has one Diebold touch screen machine. The touch screens are there supposedly for ADA requirements (although I don't see how these help people with disabilities in the act of voting). The electors at some of the precincts seems to badger people in to voting the touch screens.

My son cast his first vote as a 17 year old during a special election in December. The elector at my precinct has long since given up on getting me to vote electronic, but she went after my son with her heavy-handed cajoling trying to convince him that's the "cool" way to vote. Do I have to tell you how proud I was of him when he stood his ground and politely told her he wanted a paper ballot?

Those paper ballots are so important in our local elections which have had razor-thin margins and frequent recounts. If only 1 percent of the voters decided to vote with the touch screens that could lead to a remarkably different result.

My friends on the local Board of Elections jump up and down and swear that I am wrong about this -- but I still think they've been lead down the primrose path by the Diebold vendors.

  25. Patsi, when I was a teen I spent two summers in the North Woods of Ontario at a YMCA canoe camp. We would go from lake to lake portaging with our canoes and a couple of weeks of supplies. Often we would go for days without seeing another human being. This was back when the water was so clean that if you were thirsty, you stuck your cup in the lake and had a drink. Wonderful experience!

And when our daughters were teens in the 70s, they both spent a summer with the Conservation Corps way out in 'old' Nevada busting trails, fixing fences, and all that fun stuff. They still talk about it.

Chloe -- that was back in '88 or '89....and some people actually talked about it then...which "body booster" was better etc. Aside from that, he said that you could pretty much tell the difference between the great big players who were just big and muscled, and the ones with the unusually thick necks, usually some other things like very poil skin and that sort of thing. But mainly, it was a topic of "inside" conversation.

Straight talk got left somewhere behind that damn bus - probably just at the last curve.

Alicia, can't agree with you on the Kristol article. I've seen the ad several times, and it strikes me as a pretty effective ad against the somewhat cavalier and in my opinion utter failure of McCain and Kristol to recognize that this is a war of aggression on our part that shows signs of ebbing and flowing as far as the violence levels go, but shows no signs of approaching anything that could be considered an end and a situation that McCain described where American servicement are safely standing watch. And Kristol's argument fails to consider that the policies enacted by one president affect the next and the next, particulary with respect to the military. Yeah, yeah, volunteer military and all that, but that's not the point of the ad.

  28. Flatus -- that sounds like a fantastic camp. I went every summer to a nifty church camp. It was great for the day, some bible classes, etc. Then at night it got a little evangelical for me. For me, even as a kid, it seemed weird to dedicate your life to Christ every night over and over. IE: walk down the aisle and promise to stay Christian. So once I did that at camp when I was about ten (I'd already been baptised in my home church), I wouldn't do it again. One counselor tried to convince me to, but I just said I had already made that promise, and nothing had changed. Ha.

My favorite times were pre-dawn when you had a silent meditation time, walk out in the hills, that smelled of sage, and just read the bible or think about things. For me, just looking at the early morning and smelling the sage was spiritual enough!

I think many of these camps now have become relentless about the evangelical side to the camps.

He needs to fully understand the 'quality' level of new accessions, the adequacy of their training, and how they and their families cope once they arrive at their permanent organizations.

I think it would be an eye opener for him and would allow him to speak authoritatively on military personnel and family issues.

Like most public speakers, he does much better talking about subjects he is totally familiar with. And that competence allows him to debunk, in detail, claims by other candidates when they are in error.

And, since this thread was about the press, it was nice seeing The Times public editor dumping on Maureen, and the Times, for her tainted columns on Mrs Clinton:

  37. chloe, they mentioned the battery prize proposal this morning on the tube. I have to agree with whoever said that the winner is probably in the works now, and also that the prize will pale in comparison to the wild profits the "winner" will receive when the technology is adopted by the automakers. Look at what's happened in the small battery world since the days of carbon-zinc batteries and incandescent flashlight bulbs. An AAflashlight used to last about an hour, maybe an hour and 15 nminutes before the battery was dead. Now with Lithium ion batteries and LEDs, you get up to 12 hours. A more efficient, higher capacity deep cycle heavy battery can't be too far down the pike. Had to laugh when Mike Barnacle (I thnk he's the one who said it) said he can just picture McCain as the Energizer Bunny.

Of course that's just one option - as far as ethanol goes, we just need to look to Brazil - the sugar cane ethanol they produce is 4 times more efficient (5 times when prduced using best practices) than the corn ethanol we produce. They use a 20-25% mix now, and the air in the major cities has improved remarkably. Obama's position on this is IMHO completely wrong - it penalizes the efficent (in the form of tariffs) at our expense and to the benefit (through subsidies) of the agribusiness giants, driving food prices up in the process. Great idea - if your aim is to enrich the corn belt rather than increase energy efficiency..

If there's one thing we (should) have learned as a result of the last raft of election cycles it's that there's very little to suggest _any_ correlation between the way things look at this time of year and the way they will look when the polls are actually opened. At this point, it's all primarily grist for the political junkies' mill. [And, yeah, I count myself among that number...despite my own "analysis".]

Between now and convention time, I think the most we will be able to intuit is a little bit about where the campaigns will position themselves, i.e. what buttons they plan to hit, and at least get a first inkling of how the "independent" groups will "behave"...

  53. Sounds like common sense based on historical inability of the pollsters to get it right to me. My sense is that there are lots of undecided folks out there, or at least folks who won't say what their decision is, and the campaigns and 527s will have some effect. If Gallup's daily tracking poll is a fairly close approximation, this could go either way. Of course the state based polls make it look like JM will have a hard time getting the EC votes he'd need to win, but hey, if the polls are even close to right there are ten states that could go either way.

If Imus catches any crap for that comment, considering the fact that a black columnist for ESPN was quietly suspended for saying" rooting for the Celtics is like calling Hitler a victim" would be total BS. It should be noted that when Imus made his nappy headed ho comment about the Rutgers team, Jemele Hill was up front about how Imus should be fired and jailed and how no apology was good enough.

Since she made her comments, we have no Al Sharpton outrage, a meek apology from her and it seems the matter has been quickly forgotten...

It's only the second day of summer and you are writing off McCain. Just remember McCain knows from years of experience that you don't want to peak too soon. Which is very nearly what Obama did in the primaries.

Just make sure you do an occasional blog on all the goofy stuff the Obamatrons do this summer. I want to know how many campaign workers hook up and have babies, things like that.

And on a personal note I have to report that even people driving cars with Obama bumper stickers are not exhibiting courtesy while driving, one of those Obamatrons cut me off today. Of course, if it was a car with a Hillary sticker, they probably would have run me completely off the road and left me for dead. Heartless liberals.

  85. My line of work in printing and binding books. We do it for all the major and some minor publishing houses. This is old style manufacturing. It isn't sexy. We have huge web presses that print the signatures that are gathered on the binding lines and either have soft covers (paperbacks) or are cased in (hard cover books). It is hard work and right now it is hot as can be in our printing plants. Few are air conditioned. We put ink on paper and it isn't always easy to get it just right. Printing is still one of those processes that are part science, part craft and some luck.

So we have just about finished up printing & binding the Obama book. It will be shipping from our printing plant this week. I consider it a fluff celebrity picture book. Buy lots of them, keep our presses rolling.

  89. Hey Craig,
I wouldn't be writing an obit on McCain quite yet. Here are some trends and facts that will play hard by the end of the summer...

    1. Americans are now very aware of the flip-flopping and contradictions of BHO. His rhetorical sincereity has been seriously tarnished. Every month a new stumble further erodes his credibility.

    2. Obama's energy policy is rather lame. There are more than 60 billion barrels of fossil fuel in and around the US. Even a quarter of that extracted would provide a serious and adequate bridge to energy independence once alternitives are perfected. Obama was there on TV supporting Corn, while cellulosic energy is key Obama ignores. Polls do not support Obama's position. Obama wants to sue OPEC, reduce consumption in the face of serious economic competition and a falling dollar. Coupled with Obama's economic plan, his approach will lead us downwards, not upwards. Higher corporate taxes and reduced energy consumption will make us less competitive. A mixture of drilling, refineries the Democrats thwart, clean coal, carbon sequestering, nuclear, cellulosic, shale and tar oil extraction, solar, wind and conservation along with higher cafe standards in concert get us out of this mess. Obama is beholden ideology as is Pelosi.

    2. Iraq is improving despite Obama calling it lost. By election time, this will indisputable even for MSNBC. McCain will look correct and Obama wrong. Even worse is that the EU approves sanctions on Iran while Obama rejected them. Most proliferation experts say the world must act now to curb Iran having talked quite a bit to Iran. By election Obama will look rather silly as Iran declares support for Obama, the new American Gorby, that will destroy America from within. Yep, that's from the Iranian Press. The most pathetic example of Obama judgment is Pakistan. He called Pakistan complete chaos under Musharraf and blasted his "deals" with militants. Perhaps, Obama isn't reading the papers.

    http://www.khaleejtimes.com/darticlen.asp?xfile=data/subcontinent/2008/June/subcontinent_June827.xml§ion=subcontinent&col=

AQ Khan has been linked to spreading advanced weapon designs to NK and Iran. Militants are blowing up girls schools, beheading civilians and generally throwing Pakistan into real chaos. This has lead to declining secuirty in Afghanistan and greater instability in Pakistan. Their government has told the US not to strike there any more as Bush continues selective strikes. Obama's advocacy for the removal of Musharraf, the support of the corrupt moderates and telegraphing military strikes (strikes by Bush he refuses to applaud) has proven a worse plan than anything the Bush administration advocated. The militants are now attacking India from Kashmir as the Taliban without Musharraf in charge of the military inflitrate the army. Clearly, Obama was wrong about Pakistan, Iran and what our allies think, Iraq and even Syria. Despite Pelosi, Brez, Reid and Carter talking with Assad, it now appears Syria was working with NK and Iran to further Iran's push for nuclear weapons. When Assad refused to talk seriously, Israel struck and destroyed a new secret nuclear project in Syria. Only Hillary Clinton supported Israel as Obama remained silent. Now BO is trying hard to convince Jews in America he has any record worth voting for regarding Israel. To date, there is NO proof Obama's claim he is the strongest supporter of Israel and not the typical BO BS.

    3. BO has talked several times about cutting defense and has little strategy in Africa. In Latin America, the Bolivian leader has suffered political trouble and Hugo was forced to call for FARC to renounce violence as a FARC laptop showed what support Hugo had given them. Interpol has vaildated the contents of the laptop. Meanwhile Obama has signal cutting military aid to Columbia and Mexico and the protectionism that BO supported during the primary, calling Hillary a NAFTA lover. This would hurt the very third world Obama says he supports. And of course, Obama now declares he loves free-trade. What a joke that his supporters ignore. Obama will say anything as the media gives him a free pass.....

    4. Moving the DNC to Chicago, a foolish attempt to modify the great seal, a lame attempt to repackage Michelle, pretending he never said he would talk to Ahmadinejad, forsaking public financing, erecting a committee of security advisors to counter the complete failure of his primary advisors, his gaffes and focus on NOT BUSH rather than detailed plans to move forward, spin an image that looks absurd against that initial image of an honest, high road, bipartisan Obama of many months ago.

So it maybe that the pathetic media will further support Obama by firing on McCain all summer, but the issues such as economy, energy, national security and character, do not play so well for Obama as November approaches. Of course, Obama supporters tend to be McCain's best weapons. As the ads begin and the issues debated. Obama will have little clout to stop the Left. Republicans are holding their fire for now. The summer will roll forward. Will the economy go down? Will oil prices rise? Will Iraq improve? Will Pakistan stumble? I rather doubt events will favor Obama who has built his central thrust on Bush, Iraq, a terrible economy and his sterling character. I expect these cards won't play well for him by the end of the summer......

Of course, you would never guess that by watching TV. And the fairness doctrine? What American can support such rubbish in limiting our free speech? Coupled with the new Freedom of the Press bill, what the Left is planning will seriously erode the intention of the Constitution. We will see a Liberal assault on LIberty.

The only sane place in this pathetic mess is center. In such a climate, divided government is the best hedge against ideological extremism.

    Split the ticket

    Save the Democrats from themselves...

  92. anyone remember the smell of the mimeograph test papers in the fifties?

    Posted by: sturgeone | June 23, 2008 8:05 PM

  93. Sturge,

    Toxic substances

Both the isopropanol and the methanol found in ditto solvents are toxic substances. These chemicals can cause a host of medical problems when humans are improperly exposed. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines recommend the use of personal protective equipment during exposure to methanol,[citation needed] however, most[who?] chemists work with methanol and isopropanol wearing only medical exam grade gloves, goggles and a working fume hood as the chief, no-ingested or inhaled reaction with methanol is limited skin irritation.[citation needed]

The aroma of pages fresh off the Ditto machine was a memorable feature of school life for those who attended in the ditto machine era. A pop culture reference to this is to be found in the film Fast Times At Ridgemont High. At one point a teacher hands out a dittoed exam paper and every student in the class immediately lifts it to his or her nose and inhales.

Another reference is by Bill Bryson in his memoir The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid. He writes, "Of all the tragic losses since the 1960s, mimeograph paper may be the greatest. With its rapturously fragrant, sweetly aromatic pale blue ink, mimeograph paper was literally intoxicating. Two deep drafts of a freshly run-off mimeograph worksheet and I would be the education system’s willing slave for up to seven hours."[1] Bryson appears have confused dittos with mimeographs, however. The latter have no particular odor.

Concern about the toxicity of the ink and students' habit of sniffing the pages contributed to the decision of some school districts to abandon ditto machines in favor of other technologies.

  94. Whether or not the surge is "working," the fact is that American lives are being lost, still, for a war that should never have been started. And the cost of that senseless war in lives and in dollars cannot continue.

In addition, lives are being lost within the United States every day due to Mr. Bush -- the reduced capacity of the various protective agencies has caused people to die due to bad beef, infected tomatoes or lead-based toys, among other things. And the smaller agencies, populated with unqualified Bush loyalists has endangered us further, as evidenced by the response to Katrina. Too, of course, there were less National Guard members available to help here when they were needed.

In addition, if Mr. McSame is elected, the Supreme Court's membership will shift drastically to the radical right, taking away our rights, whether we lose the opportunity to choose abortions or the right to express our opinions (except in "free speech" zones). The wealthiest 1% will continue to do very well, while the rest of us will continue to lose ground.

Yes, we've survived, more or less, Mr. Bush's excesses and irresponsiblity. But our coffers and our resources are nearly depleted, our reputation is in shreds and our spirit is drained; fewer people are willing to serve the country because of Mr. Bush's drastic disservice to the veterans who survive.

We need a change. We cannot afford four more years of Mr. McSame and his inclination to rape and plunder the nation.

  111. Patsi...

I saw your earlier post about the new Imus debacle. I have today's show Tivo'd, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Will certainly give my opinion after I see it in context.

Having watched clips on newscasts, I can say that there's a better than good chance he was referring to the tendency of law enforcement - especially in the south - to be more inclined to stop and/or arrest black men. I think there's also a better than good chance that, if I'm right, there are those who will do everything they can to make people believe he meant something entirely different.

  113. Obama campaign claims suspect "birth certificate" as genuine item

"In response to mounting media questions about the failure of the Barack Obama presidential campaign to produce the presumptive Democratic nominee's birth certificate, an official spokesman of the campaign has endorsed as genuine the image of a document purporting to be his "birth certificate." But some who have examined that image in high resolution claim inconsistencies and irregularities which suggest that the purported document is a forgery. Its high profile use by the campaign, they claim, suggests an attempt to conceal the truth of Obama's birth circumstances and citizenship qualifications from the American people. "

  126. WORDS OF WARNING: I'm on a bit of a rant comingup here and it will be sure to make some of you ABOSLUTELY FURIOUS. I'm sorry that your feelings wil be so aroused, but please, just don't read it.
WORDS OF WARNING : I'm on a bit of a rant coming
It's just my opinion -they are just my opinions. Should time prove me wrong I will be happy to say so - after all, that's the only way to be right all the time = admit it when you're wrong.

So call me names if you must, but know I won't hear you.

I'm about a day late here so want to go back to the possibility of a conspiracy.

My view, and I know it's just that, is that it was a plan and a well-thought out one at that. I think it's been worked on for more than six years, and I think it's a power grab and completely ego driven. It wasn't a conspiracy, but a plan.

I think Ted Kennedy has hated not having complete control of the party. Bill ended up having more effect than his two brothers, and then his wife was trying to get in and be the top of the party.

I have heard some say that it's a shame that the dems had to have two such good and minority candidates in the same election - couldn't they have timed it better?

Actually no, because the planners wanted to beat Hillary and the only one who could beat her wasa a another minority, preferably a black man. Racism is a more compelling issue because it's more immediate and more imprinted in our brains than sexism. After all, sexism has been part of our civilization since there has been a civilization, so we're accustomed to it - some even have trouble seeing it. Why is a woman's virginity an absolute demand, whereas a man's virginity makes him an object of scorn? That damn Eve - it's all HER fault!

No one else could have beaten Hillary, even with all her negatives - not one of the repubs would have had a chance.

Candidates do not spring up from nowhere. He was looked for and found and tried out on stage in 2004,and chosen. It takes years to establish an identity as a politician, and money, and friends. Obama hasn't really even been a senator. He spoke in2004 before he was elected, sworn in in 2005, and by 2007 was running for president, not being a senator.

We are used to seeing him around and hearing about him because the rumors were out there, and we feel as if he's actually BEEN around.

The planning has been brilliant and almost seamless.
Put him in the spotlight and then keep talking about him, but don't ever-expose him. Rfer to him only as the great speaker at the last convention, but don't say what his political standards are, so he can't be held to them.

When Hillary mentioned LBJ signed the Civil Rights Bill, it was Kennedy's toe she stepped on, not Obama's, but that did it. The hystreics on msnbc took the ball and ran with it, calling the Clinton's racists, and the campaign didn't have to do much more.

I don't think Kennedy and his minions, esp the Chicago machine, expected her to put up such a good fight. I'm so proud of her and so thankful she didn't give in .Now Obama and his people, and they ARE the Chicago machine, have to actually accomplish something because of her. So far, he hasn't done much to prove he can do anything better than Hillary.
He changed the head of the DNC to...oh, yes, it's the SAME head of the DNC, the one who worked for his selection.

He picked a new head-of-staff for his vp choice...well, he doesn't have one yet, but he will. That new head-of-staff is a welcome new addiotion on the scene......well, she's hew to him. Yes, she had spent a lot of time with Hillary ....well, just because she couldn't stop the leaks of info out of Hillary's office ( Toobin said it leaked like an old battleship), well, that doesn't mean it was her job.

So, no changes this far......well, a couple of words being taken back, and a few vows broken. Those are changes, right? Oh, yeah, he changed his church and his pastor and his list of friends, but that is no big thing, because he didn't know what he believed in his church, and had no idea who those men were.

The point is that Hillary put up a better fight than Obama did, and people will remember it, and all during his term in office (groan) the world itself is going to still be comparing the two of them.

Obama has sold himself to the devil. Michelle said her first words to him were, "Oh, please, no." I believe her. I think she knew better than he did what it meant.

  128. As soon as he said it, I cringed...not because I thought Imus was way out of line, but because most folks probably wouldn't have immediate access to replay like I had, and I knew it would be all blown out of proportion.

Imus was saying the reason Adam Jones had been arrested six times was BECAUSE he was Black, and nothing else.

Imus was sticking up for Jones, and dissing the out-of-balance arrests of African Americans compared to other races.

Imus was just to hip for his audience, is all...Al Sharpton had a cow and others spoke of how Imus was back at his racist ways. This is bullshit, pure bullshit. Imus has started a dialogue about race relations in this country since his December hiring at WABC & RFD-TV.
Really, all one has to do is watch the video twice to clear up any suspicion that Imus was uttering racist remarks.

  129. Hi Beth and Jason
    Beth
Goood post. I agree wholeheartedly. I know craig thinks it is a good idea that BO has taken over the DNC, but I do not see it that way.. It was supposed to have been Gov Blagovich, that was to run for Pres, but since he and rezko got caught, the chicago machine decided to run with BO. Yes, it has been planned for years and executed by Soros, Axelrod, Dean and Obama. Do not trust the man.

  131. Jason and Julie - thanks for your responses.

Do I feel better? A little I guess. I have been gritting and grinding my teeth so hard lately that they really ache and it may be because of the situation I find my self in with this election.

I agree with you, Jason, and will probably vote for Obama but it is so disturbing to me. I think it's close to the worst choice I've ever had to make in my 65 years.

So maybe letting it out will be good for me. I do realize
how disgusted I am with myself that it took me so long to catch on to why they picked Obama - they had to have another minority because Hillary is one - only another minority could beat her. I feel foolish I didn't see it before. They used the good will and good nature of the American people against us.

However, I don't think it will be long-lived. I pray not.

It has cooled off here, now, tho, and is in the low 50's and I hope it won't get past 85 tomorrow. that's good.

Thanks, to you and others, whoever you may be, who won't take out a contract on me!

  133. THE NEW AMERICAN DISENFRANCHISEMENT.

Democratic Elitists And Their Role In Hijacking The Democratic Party!

"The Answer… You create your own candidate from a blank slate and opportunistically disenfranchise large segments of the Clinton voter coalition.

The far-left elite of the Democratic Party had found the ideal candidate: A well spoken, inexperienced junior senator from Illinois. Barack Obama was a blank slate: inexperienced (no political skeletons in the closet), a powerful speaker, African-American, and had never crossed party lines or the Democrat Elitist Agenda on any major issue. The wealthy and elite now had their candidate.

Step One: Paint your ideal candidate as a great unifier, able to end the divisiveness in Washington and change the political polarization that Hillary Clinton represented. Although Barack Obama had little experience, he also did not bear the scars of previous political fights or have the political skeletons in his closet."

  134. An old saying goes: "The peole get the president they deserve". Well maybe we do deserve either JmC or BO. Maybe we do not deserve HRC...
We as a nation should turn and check our insides and then come again...

Be prepared the coming months for more trial balloons launched by the BO campaign. They can and will get away with it, because the media will let them...

Just think...for a split second what would happen if either JmC or worse HRC brought this up...
    She would be called:
    - Unpatriotic
    - Full of herslef
    - Wanting to take over our minds by endulging the Clinton Dynasty
    - Bitch that does anything to be part of history
    etc
    etc
    etc

So maybe we do deserve BO...This is what we are as a country, so this is what we get as president......

Jason, you may be right, but did the people knowingly choose him? We weren't given enough 'facts' at the beginning and by the end he was losing by a landslide. Now look at the choices. The best of two 'what'?
