The longest, closest and most expensive campaign for any party's presidential nomination in recent memory now approaches conclusion. Democratic contender Hillary Rodham Clinton herself signaled as much on Friday, predicting that party superdelegates are now ready to render a verdict.
"People are going to start making up their minds," Clinton told reporters. "I think that is the natural progression that one would expect."
If all goes as expected, shortly after the close of the primary season on Tuesday we will see the final demise of American history's most competitive presidential candidacy by a woman.
And thus begins an epic struggle between Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama, American history's most competitive African-American contender for the White House.

And about time.
Now let's see if the Obama camp realize how much they need the HRC camp. Or do they think they can do an end run by hiring the likes of Patti Solis Doyle and bring in Biden and other Democrats. Then try to leave the Clinton camp in the cold.

I think there's a lot the Obama camp doesn't realize.
Reality hasn't played a big part in this campaign, and I frankly think the cause lies with the media - no questions asked and more emotion than there was with the candidates. It has helped them keep the storyline going by giving them a new 'scandal' to talk about for weeks, when the 'scandal' would have been in the open from the beginning if they had asked. Reverend Wright was always there if they had asked, but then he wouldn't have been a 'scandal' they could talk about for months. They had to know better than to not ask - they must have salivated at the thought of stories to unfold during the primary season.
I hope the awakening for Camp Obama isn't a tale of disaster cuz we'll all suffer.

For those who expect today's Rules & By-laws Committee Meeting to be the last whimper of the Hillary Clinton Campaign, you will be sadly mistaken. The Clinton People will be in their element with articulate experts of the rules and solutions on their side. Finally, for the first time, we will see ardent supporters for Hillary that out number the BO supporters - not a majority but neverthless more. The Obama Campaign will, as usual be relying on their arrogance - with the world watching. I think the street fighters in this case, a.k.a. "Recount", will be the Clinton Campaign with the move-on.org and caucus thugs standing by helplessly watching as well. There will be some surprises because her campaign did not reveal all its cards in conference calls and interviews, etc. We know the 2026 delegates needed will change so Mr. Wonderful will NOT walk away with it after today's meeting. I, like all of you, will be watching in great anticipation.

The Chicago style politics -
No one should be suckered by the pure pablum propaganda of Barack Obama. His style of politics is as dirty as it gets. When the repubs start laying it on we are liable to see things we never thought about before. Lots of luck..
Had hopes of Hillary taking it to the convention. Next week is sure going to be eventful, one way or the other.

Jonathan-Newsweek-"Hillary Needs to Get Out of the Race before the Texas/Ohio Primaries"-funny hair-Alter suggested on Thursday night that Nancy Pelosi putting an end to the Presidential Primary race by next week she said Thursday would be viewed differently with no charges of sexism since she is a woman herself. Bulls@$t! While it may not be sexism per se, it is one of those unfortunate things about women and competition sometimes. During the CA Primary, it was reported that NP's closest confidant in Congress (a man), had endorsed Obama, and it was highly speculated that this also meant NP was a supporter of BO as well. Over and over since then we have heard code words from NP that she in fact is a supporter of BO - "this is a delegate race", "whoever has the most delegates will win", never acknowledging SD's, etc. NP's daughter has written a book using themes from the BO campaign, but coyly saying she nor her mother had endorsed a candidate. Hmmm. I have been involved in the Women's Movement since the 70's. Women like Pelosi who break through the glass ceiling are NOT necessarily ever feminists, especially the ones in Corporate America. They do not credit women for their success since they got there without the help of women and have none of the same concerns that most women have. But, neither do they mentor other women or bring them along for fear they will get their jobs or get ahead of them. In fact, they become part of the good o'l boys system and pride themselves on male colleagues, friends, advisors as well as bosses. However, in politics, women's groups were organized primarily to lobby law makers on behalf of women's issues and to help get women elected to political office. Often after they have been there for a while, or in the case of NP whose political career was jumpstarted by her replacing someone, they too become part of the good o'l boys system as Ms. Pelosi seems to have done. Remember the congresswoman that hoped to be appointed to a position by Pelosi after she became Speaker of the House? Everybody said Pelosi would not choose this congresswoman (and she didn't!) because there was 'bad blood' between NP and this woman even though she was in line for this appointment. Well, obviously, Pelosi has something against Hillary Clinton as well or she would not have helped BO become the 'establishment' candidate which, by all rights, should have gone to Hillary. So, no, Jonathan Alter is wrong again! Whether it is sexism, competition, or raw jealousy, it is outrageous that as an Obama supporter, Pelosi has the gall to "try" to end this thing. I hope the Clinton Campaign defies her to the convention because she cannot tell a Presidential candidate, least of all, Hillary Clinton to go anywhere! There are no rules to support that.

Ladies and Gentlemen, from the Houston Chonicle, I give you, The Obama Campaign -- meet the New Politics of Hope, Chicage-style:
An Obama mystery at state meet
By RICK CASEY
Texas Democratic Party Vice Chairwoman Roy LaVerne Brooks is a superdelegate who endorsed Barack Obama in March.
The longtime party activist from Fort Worth is also running to unseat
current state party Chairman Boyd Richie.
Imagine her surprise Tuesday when she received a disturbing phone call
from a national Obama operative who is
part of a group that parachuted into Texas to work on this weekend's state party convention.
Roy says the operative, Rudy Shank, told her that unless she drops her candidacy to unseat
Richie at the state convention she will not be going to the national convention as a superdelegate.

Troll:
1. One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers.
2. One who posts a deliberately provocative message with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.
3. A person who attacks and flames other members of the forum for any of a number of reasons such as rank, previous disagreements, sex, status, ect.
A troll usually flames threads without staying on topic, unlike a "Flamer" who flames a thread because he/she disagrees with the content of the thread.

ATT really doesn't want to lose customers. I called a couple of months ago saying I wanted to drop my wire line because I was tired of them jacking up the prices. That would have left me with 'naked' DSL fast access extreme (or something like that) which I use for the internet and voip.
The CSR transferred me to a supervisor and before long I was getting local phone service (which I like as an emergency backup) _and_ the super DSL for less than the cost of DSL alone.
The other day I was out of the house when we decided to call overseas. Used my Sprint cell phone along with Skype and made the call using my local minutes. If I had been at a hot spot, I could have done it without using minutes.
When we were on the airplane coming home, I caught up on things using my Treo along with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It was as efficient as using a normal laptop but without the power management penalty and none of the size hassle. The BT keyboard folds to shirt pocket size, and the mouse bounces around in a trousers pocket.

Obama’s Campaign of Threats to Superdelegates ----
Specter of Violence Raised to Drive Lemmings
"A major fundraiser for the Obama campaign ... . Her organization has joined with a radical group that is threatening massive, unspecified protest actions in Denver if Hillary seizes the nomination. Now, Obama’s official mouthpiece warns that he could deploy these forces even sooner with the click of a button.
For the first time, a paid staffer of the Obama campaign appeared inspired by the ominous language of shadowy pro-Obama protest groups like “Recreate ‘68.”
While ironically accusing the Clinton campaign of “creating chaos,” Plouffe echoed the warnings by the Denver-based pro-Obama front group, Recreate ‘68, to stage massive protests, if not riots, if Clinton somehow attains the nomination.
Clearly Obama ‘08 is using the threat of protests — and even riots — to intimidate superdelegates."

In my opinion, Howard completely missed an opportunity to unite the two camps with that stupid story about Al Gore. What he could have said was something iike this:
"What I want each candidate's supporters to know is this: We VALUE each and every one of you. We know how difficult the end of this primary will be for the supporters of one candidate. And the passion you feel for your candidate is real and it is deserved. But I want you to know that we need your vote. We respect your vote. And we are going to earn your vote."
Instead he chose to portray those who feel slighted as ranting and raving lunatics (just like him.) And, actually, in this case it isn't about one person. It is about that one person and the 17 million people who support her.
Expecting people to fall in line for the "good of the country" isn't near as effective as ASKING and UNDERSTANDING.

An observation about the Hillary group outside the
Marriott by Byron York at National Review.
"If there were a prize given for best sign at the noisy pro-Hillary demonstration outside the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Angela Church, of Henderson, Kentucky, would win it.
Church, who with a couple of friends set out yesterday afternoon and drove straight through to Washington, snagged a prime spot on Woodley Road so she could spin her sign to reveal both sides. The front said:
Democracy of the people
by the people
for the people
Count the Votes!
And the back said:
I have switched to FOX!"
It appears there may be more emerging "Fox viewers" in addition to those who have posted the same here.
Hard to believe that many now find FOX more suitable than the likes of msnbc & cnn.

With Dean’s opening comments this morning he mentioned several counties and several states that had record turnout in the primaries for the Democrats. One he mentioned was Delaware County Ohio where the income per capita is one of the highest in the US. That is where my daughter and her husband live. She voted absentee this year due to having the baby, but in past years she has said “Mom, they had two lines…one for Democrats and one for Republicans. I was the only person standing in the Democrat line. She did this knowing many of the people in the Republican line”. That’s my girl! This year I’m betting those R’s voted for Obama.
I know many Republicans who changed and voted for Obama this year, and since these are pretty much high-income individuals, I’d say Obama can carry Ohio without Clinton in the race. Yes, there will be the bigots and racists I’ve mentioned before, but most intelligent individuals know that we cannot allow another Bush in the WH and go into another war in the Middle East, namely, IRAN. If we are sending our NAVY personnel to fight in “the sands” now (which is a fact), where will the additional troops come from for a fight in IRAN? I’d say the draft will start up and many older individuals will be having their lives disrupted severely, something the ones fighting now have encountered for five years. No McBush!

If you buy a wireless router it is around $75--$100 the last time I looked, probably cheaper now.
We get wireless router through the cable company for $5 a month. In the long run more expensive but if you have trouble you are able to get your tech support all in one place with no finger pointing. It helped with us. They couldn't find the problem so they replaced everything at no charge.
There is a plugin on the back of the wireless router for you to plug in your current computer or you can get a wireless adapter $70 or less. Mine is plugged directly into the router. Your laptop will also need a wireless connector, most newer ones come with them.
You will need to do a couple of security things, as I remember the instalation soft ware will walk you through them, or call tech support and they will.
One that a lot of people overlook is to password protect the network. that will restrict the network to only those that have the password. Otherwise that creepy neighbor may be using your connection to download his child porn.

At some point in the future, let us hope that groups such as Emily's List will not be necessary and that ALL candidates will be financially supported based only upon their qualifications. That time has not yet come. Women candidates are still underfunded in such a way as to exclude them from effective campaigns against their male counterparts.
The chain of great Negro Colleges were established to allow the maximum number of African Americans to get degrees when the doors to most colleges and universities were closed to them. They are now able to admit all races because conditions have changed.
At some point when women can raise funds equal to their male counterparts with the same qualifications and experience, maybe Emily's List can donate to a man.

Hey all. So what's the consensus among the committee members? From what I understand Florida will be seated in full, but with only a half-vote, which means that HRC nets 19. The controversy involves what do with Michigan, right? Which is kind of crazy. You would think, given that she ran an uncontested race, thus it *isn't* really a race, that you would almost have to do a 50/50 split in that state.
Anyway, by my lights, anything other than a 50/50 split is unacceptable. Unless, of course, the null the state completely, which they should to both anyway. This isn't democracy. This is a primary, which is a system, which is in its own structural logic anti-democratic. Why else would you have delegates/superdelegates. All this HRC peeps crying foul on the grounds of democracy are kind of foolish in this context. Now the general election, that's another matter. There you actually have concerns about democracy.

Sorry, I kind of caught up. So it looks like Clinton will only get 29 delegates out of the weekend. Apparently, once all the other candidates who were not on the ballot in Michigan agree to give their votes to Obama, this whole thing will come to a close and they will seat the state in full.

FYI
A fundamental principle of delegate selection is expressed in the provision of the Charter requiring
that delegates be chosen through processes which “assure that delegations fairly reflect the division
of preferences expressed by those who participate in the Presidential nominating process.”14
Similarly, Rule 13(A) of the Delegate Selection Rules provides that, “Delegates shall be allocated in
a fashion that fairly reflects the expressed presidential preference or uncommitted status of the
primary voters….”
In this case, it can be argued, there is no basis for ensuring “fair reflection” of presidential
preference other than to use the results of the January 29 primary.

Mr. Wexler at least twice refused to answer the direct
question regarding whether he opposed the seating of the entire FL delegation if that were to be allowed.
It is clear, contrary to all of his theatrics that he as
the obama representative to the proceedings would be
willing to only seat a minimal number of delegates, a number that in no way would impact obama's total pledged delegate number.
There is no other way to read his refusal to actually answer the questions posed by 2 of the RBC members
Ms Huffman nicely exposed his claim of wanting to
"unify" the party by allowing half the delegation to be
seated, when she asked in what way would seating the entire delegation be construed as "disunity" if that were to be decided. Again Mr. Wexler refused to answer the question.

Many people don't "show up" at a caucus because they are elderly, disabled, working, lack transportation, out of town, in the military etc.
It is not a lack of desire to vote. It is being disenfranchised because they are unable to participate at a given time and place.
There is no provision given for them to vote by mail or even by proxie. As such, the caucus system is a total refutation of the one man one vote principle and totally undemocratic.

For some RBC members who voted to disallow ALL FL delegates. This is a compromise and seeks party unity.

Alex Koppleman of Salon finds a very different nature and purpose to the protestors than cable geniuses do --
When I walked into the crowd of protesters outside the Democrats' rules committee meeting on Saturday, I was ready to jot down some pro-Clinton quotes. I figured that's what I'd get. After all, that's what this protest is about, isn't it? That's what I saw on cable TV.
Make no mistake. A lot of people there voted for Hillary Clinton. There were some Hillary signs held aloft in the crowd. I could wrestle an anti-Obama quote out of a few folks. With a little pushing, I got a middle-aged white woman to go on about the whiff of sexism wafting over the race for the White House.
But if you just walk up to the protesters and ask them why they are there, the people who traveled from across the country that I talked to said they were angry because the Florida/Michigan debacle gives them sinking feeling that that America democracy is broken. Clinton didn't pay their bus fare, or even tell them to show up, they said.
Either Hillary Clinton has deployed hundreds of disciplined robots in front of the Marrriot Wardman Park Hotel in Washington (a headline I expect to see on Drudge) or cable TV is getting it at least partially wrong.
"We are here because we want every vote counted," said Wesley Taylor, who traveled by bus from Coral Springs, Florida to air his bad feelings. Taylor, who voted for John Edwards in the primary, served 14 years in the Army, including service in Bosnia. "I didn’t fight not to have my vote counted," he said.
Hey Bri-Bri -- go call Wesley and tell him "boo hoo".

Dean is doing a great job. Fifty state strategy is paying off big time. Internet fundraising is breaking records. Clinton folks are so stuck in the 90s, that they don't understand that Dean has gotten the Democrats out of the old "if we just win Florida or Ohio, we'll win" strategy and now we make Republicans compete everywhere, including places like Mississippi and Louisiana.

Jamie,
Those kind of issues can be worked out. Having control of your elections is paramount. Details can be hammered out. Conducting a Caucus, like we do in WA assures that in light of FL.
In our Caucus, we sent a rules change request for just those concerns.

Rez,
I can actually see a caucus/primary split of some sort. Even with changes that permit other votes to be admitted via proxie, the caucus is still open to blatant intimidation and there are those who dislike the public nature of the vote and prefer the privacy of the voting booth.
For the most part, the caucus, county convention/state convention is just a fund raising mechanism for the party and there are other ways to accomplish that. Still if that is what the party wants, they should be allowed a caucus.
The Republican Party in the state opted for the 50/50 split and that strikes me as the fairest possible way to treat all voters.

RE: My Blog...
I've set my blog to private because I am a bit spooked by this article:
Because of information in this article, I have decided to make my profile private.
Snippet from article:
In addition, teens [people] are increasingly using social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook to create blogs and post photos, videos and music. A 2007 report by the Pew Internet & American Life Project concluded that 55 percent of all online teens had a profile on a social networking site.
When teens put too much personal information out in the virtual world, they give real-world con artists the opportunity to steal their identities.
File-sharing software, which allows users to download music and videos, is particularly risky, experts say.
"The biggest identity theft threat posed by peer-to-peer software such as LimeWire, etc., is that people who use it don't often realize that they have documents with sensitive information in the same folders as the files that they are sharing with the world," says Paul Ferguson, network architect with Trend Micro, an Internet security solutions provider.

Looks like Larry Johnson may be the way to get the Obama "dirt" out . He can claim that he got it from Repub sources who are opposed to McCain (like the Repub billionaire). This method will get past the "fingerprint" problem for Hillary.
Posted by: GORDO | May 31, 2008 2:37 PM
Larry Johnson has mentioned a Repub billionaire more than once - LJ seems to be laying the public groundwork for a source of anti-Obama info. I suspect he is working with Sydney Blumenthal of the Clinton campaign.
This was posted on May 19:
"Obama Freakout Over Michelle Video: The Ticking “Whitey” Time Bomb
And I’ve learned that a right-wing Republican billionaire has put a $1 million bounty on the video. He doesn’t want John McCain to win, like a number of conservatives, and thinks Obama is a pathetically weak candidate. The billionaire wants that video released now."

So, after all is said and done, Donna and other Obama supporters on the rules committe want to take votes from Hillary, and give them to Obama. They want to give Obama votes from uncommitted voters and consider giving Obama votes from exit polling. And, since they can read minds, they want to somehow represent people who did not vote.

John McCain is trusted more that Barack Obama on National Security, Taxes, Economy and Iraq and Obama leads McCain on Government ethics..
The results of the latest Rasmussen polling report shows that little has changed from a month ago when they asked the same questions.
Mccain is trusted more than Obama on a variety of issues, his favorable ratings are better than Obamas and he is seen as the candidate more likely to reach across party lines to work with both Republcans and Democrats
http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/255435
Looks like Obama supporters have a lot of work to do.
Better get off the blog and into the real world or come November you are going to have a lot of 'splainin' to do.

From the Daily Presidential Tracking Poll published on May 31, 2008:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that John McCain attracting 46% of the vote nationwide while Barack Obama earns 43%. This marks the fifth straight day that McCain has enjoyed at least a three-point advantage over Obama.
On a generic basis Democrats are still trusted more than Republicans but when the issues are divided, McCain takes the lead against Obama in 4 out of the five areas.
Another interesting statistic from last month's Rasmussen's report about this issue showed that when party label is inserted instead of individual names, the Democrat is chosen, but when the names are replaced with the party label, McCain takes the lead over Obama.
Then we get to the favorable ratings, in which John McCain takes the lead over Barack Obama as well.
McCain is viewed by 52 percent of the voters as favorable and 46 percent unfavorable and Obama is viewed favorably by 45 percent of the voters and unfavorably by 52 percent.
These are the lowest ratings for Obama all year.

This group was formed to accomplish one thing – to do our small part to STOP Senator Barack Obama from becoming our next president. This group is for those who would like to share information that can be communicated among our circles of influence.
It is our intention to pass along information gathered from mainstream and alternative media sources to expose Senator Obama for who he was, is and wants to be. Whether you agree with our conclusions or sources is of no consequence to us. We may step in some mud puddles along the way, but politics is messy.
Obama’s slogans are ‘hope’ and ‘change’. What hope? What change? Can this man be trusted to execute the office of United States President?
We do have some concerns about Obama’s background and influences, but will refrain from offering opinions so you can form your own.

Here's something I just posted on Daily Kos...
Both candidates divide the party (0+ / 0-)
This one-sided aiming at only Mrs. Clinton because she didn't bow to the presumed winner is totally unfair.
Mr. Obama sneered at Hillary early enough, dismissively saying "you're likable enough Hillary". He arrogantly claimed he could get most of her supporters to vote for him, but couldn't make the same claim for his supporters to vote for her if she was the nominee. What was that? DIVISIVE. He basically said "if I don't get the nomination, my supporters won't support Hillary and the Republicans will win".
Appeaser, I don't know if we have the same goals in mind. The Obama supporters are constantly trashing Mrs. Clinton and her supporters. The MSM are chastising the "little lady" for not knowing HER place and dropping out when told she should. Bad bad girl! Now reverse this. If all the MSM had been constantly trashing Mr. Obama and his supporters and suggesting he didn't know his place because he even dared run against her, wouldn't you be pissed?
The fanciful charges Obama supporters have lodged toward Hillary Clinton are not only divisive, they are shameful. I think the lowest is the suggestion that her reference to Robert Kennedy was a veiled call to have Obama assassinated. And now the Obama supporters are expecting the Clinton supporters to kiss and make up?
Ms. Appeaser ... ( excuse me if the gender is wrong). Your statement about needing each other and finding ways to heal the divide is laudable and necessary. Things aren't going to "heal" however if 1 out of 100 Obama supporters try to say "we all need to stop alienating fellow Democrats" and the other 99 say what a fucking bitch Hillary is and how Obama basically is the saviour of the 21st Century. I haven't seen footage of him walking on water yet, but I am sure it won't be long in coming.
This is how absurd the whole thing has become. And it is one reason that I am soooo conflicted about being able to vote for Obama in the general... "I can get HER votes" ... that speaks directly to me, and I don't want to be treated as a foregone conclusion.
Sorry Obama supporters. Not all of us are in love with your candidate. However, not many of us HATE him like you hate Hillary.

Here's a gift to a bunch of very smart and thoughtful people.
Also to anyone else who wants a great, rare chance to listen to a lost masterpiece.
In 1976 there was something which was assumed to be a great disaster in the American theater.
Two authentic geniuses who never should have been seated next to each other at a dinner party let alone collaborate on a play whose originality would have tested anyone created it --
Leonard Bernstein and Alan Jay Lerner.
Here is the complete play as recorded pretty darn well at one of its few performances.
The stars are Ken Howard (from The White Shadow and 1776) and Patricia Routledge (from a lot of Pinter and Britcoms)... along with Gilbert Price, Emily Yancy and the late great Bruce Hubbard.
You will quite likely NEVER see this performed as the Bernstein kids have banned it from performance.
The most you will get of it elsewhere is a sort of tepid White House Cantata which squeezed Lerner's vision out of it.
The original plan was a play within a play in which two actors play every president and first lady up to TR... and two actors play a married pair of black servants, the male of whom was found by Abigail Adams after he escaped to the free zone of the District of Columbia..
In the original the play would break up frequently as the actors stepped out of character and into each other's faces to speak and argue about race and history.
This one isn't that one. It is pretty much a straight piece of narrative with only one number at the start where the actors break character without too many sharp shards flying around.
It is still great.
These are among Lerner's greatest lyrics. And if you love any of Bernstein's musicals and classical works, this is as good as any of them... including that uncommon gift he had to combine idealism and sentimental emotion and come up with something you can never let go of.
As a lot about race, power and government gets thrown around here (along with Presidents and their spouses)...
This one's a timely thing to share.
The full title is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue: A Musical About The Problems of Housekeeping.
(Great, huh?)
Just listening to the song that begins...
"Oh, the future's looking bright...
Bright and black!"

Thiis is one of my favorite political jokes...but it really isn't funny. 8~(
Everything sounds so wonderful, while candidates are campaigning...
While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.
His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. "Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you." "No problem, just let me in," says the man. "Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity." "Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the senator. "I'm sorry, but we have our rules." And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.
The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.
They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.
Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises... The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him. "Now it's time to visit heaven." So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.
"Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity." The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell."
So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.
The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. "I don't understand," stammers the senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"
The devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning. Today you voted."

She has man issues (Bubba and Mark Penn) and can't tell the truth to save her life (still dodging them there bullets in Bosnia). Ah, it's so nice to watch her campaign go down in flames. The arrogance. The entitlement. The gender pandering. The racism. All came back like a karmic boomerang on her ass. Maybe she can have some more whiskey shooters to salve the wound of losing to Barack. LOL

Here's why Obama folks are leery of Clinton folks. Ickies was one of the leading advocates of making sure Michigan and Florida were stripped of votes. NOW, he's calling for democracy. Wow. That's some balls.
Posted by: Mr. Democrat | May 31, 2008 6:56 PM
Ickies just sealed Clinton's fate. The spectacle is going to persuade SD's to come out right after June 3rd.
Posted by: Mr. Democrat | May 31, 2008 6:57 PM
Ickes? damn good.
Posted by: sturgeone | May 31, 2008 6:57 PM
There's an awful lot of hatred toward Obama. From your Pug's weird divided government. To Patsi echoing Geraldine Ferraro. To GORDO being uh, GORDO. Then you have the NOBAMA folks, and that's just from this thread.
Hey, I don't hate Hillary. I just dislike how she's run her campaign and how the actions have been underhanded toward Obama.
Posted by: Mr. Democrat | May 31, 2008 6:44 PM
Oh, where did it all go wrong? Mark Penn? Mismanagement of campaign funds? Thinking that the race would be over in February? Bosniagate? Chronic liagra disease? Come on, you've got to think that Bill has been going to these small towns and getting numbers from the local townies. He's got to be anxious for Hillary to stop being high profile so he can make a "return visit", if you know what I mean.
Don't be sad Clintonites. I'm sure Billary will figure out a place to use all of that "35 years of experience". LOL

Ickes is a super dick. The Clinton people are doing what they've always done, which is appealing to utter ignorance among the electorate. To appeal to the higher principles of democracy in this case, is not absurd, it's also irresponsible. I almost can't believe it.
I hope HRC does try to appeal this decision because if she does she's out of the party and her legacy is gone.

Mr.Democrat
I was a lifelong lunch bucket G.M. assembly line worker but as of last week left the party or should i say the party left me when it decided not to count votes!!! The same thing we said the Republicans did down here in Florida in 2000. Shame.I don't support Sen. Obama not because the issues are so different from Sen.Clinton but because in my gut I dont trust or like the guy!! I started out liking them both but have been so effected by this blog and Obama supporters gut feelings of dislike for all thingsHillary Clinton including B.C. who I just LOVE .You as Bye Bye really got to me along the way. This may sound to simple a reason not to vote for someone but I dont go against what i feel in my gut!!!

Remember, this is just a blog of people who don't know each other, spouting stuff without reprecussions. Don't take me seriously, nor should you take anyone who agrees with you seriously.

Yes, Patsi can be caustic and mean when she gets angry.
But I like her and defend her because she also can display these qualities:
1 SHARING
2 MULTI-DIMENSIONAL
3 WARM
4 FUNNY
5 ENGAGING
6 SELF-DEPRECATING
7 INTROSPECTIVE
And she displays those qualities right here, where most of us experience her -- not in some mythical "real life" that no one has access to and therefore cannot appreciate firsthand.
So, in my mind, that's where the comparisons leave off between her and the other one. At most, the only positive quality on that list he seems capable of from time to time is number 3. But never even gets close to the other six.
That's why creating "moral equivalence" between the two is so infuriating to me, and gets that "bee buzzing in my bonnet" as you say.
Anyway...I'm learning to deal with it Sheila and don't want to rehash it further and certainly don't want to nurse any anger over it. After all, if all the personalities on this blog were in perfect synch 100 percent of the time, we'd be very, very boring.

There is only one way to be his friends and that is to agree with every single thing he says no matter how vile and kow tow to his every opinion no matter how vicious. Anything less gets you a flood of emails telling you what a horried human being you are for daring to disagree.
