This sort of goes without saying, but it isn’t said this way much: Democrats must decide who best stops John McCain. When evaluating electability, that is the obvious and more specific question facing Democratic superdelegates.
McCain is making it quite clear that he will not shy away from Barack Obama’s problems with his former preacher or with the Illinois senator’s ties to a 1960’s radical. Neither Jeremiah Wright nor William Ayers, the former Weather Underground activist, will be off the table.
It is less clear how McCain himself intends to campaign against Hillary Rodham Clinton. But Republicans are well schooled in attacking the Clintons (usually without success).
Democratic superdelegates planning to choose according to electability at least have the luxury of knowing exactly who the Democrats are running against. Republicans chose too early to enjoy such advantage.

I will not vote for McCain..... but that is just me.....
of course.... my state of NH is a huge fan of McCain.... and I suspect he will take this state.....
if the Dem nominee is Obama and there is a scintilla of a chance that he will take this state.... I will vote for him.....
if McCain is winning by a huge margin in the polls.... I will write in Clinton as a protest vote.....
of course..... if Clinton becomes the Dem nominee..... I will vote for her no matter what......

BW: No need to become unglued! Our purpose is clear ... under no circumstances can we allow John McCain to become President.
I will do anything I need to make sure it doesn't happen. As I've said before, I will hold my nose (as I usually do if I don't like him) and vote for the Democratic nominee no matter whom it is. I have three words for anyone actually considering voting for McCain. SUPREME COURT APPOINTMENTS

Pogo isn't Craig constantly in trouble with the Obama supporters?
Craig, you're saying almost what Donna Brazile was saying .. "electability" is going to sway the Super-delegates far more than the final tally. If Hillary continues to win primaries, this is going to play to her strengths. If she is knocked off center again, I think Obama will still be heading toward victory.
Time to count Florida and Michigan.

Blonde, take a deep breath, listen to some Christine Lavin, have a glass of chardonnay and think of the bigger picture. Roe vs. Wade is clinging on by a thread. Another right wing court appointment to the Supremes will decimate human rights, equal rights, for years to come. Yes, the stakes are that high.

I miscounted and Baby is number 20 and not 21 which I why I clarified in my comment that she is in the red cat box.
Her face actually looks smaller than what the picture shows and she don't really look like she's 8 1/2 years old to me. She seems more around 5 or 6 years old from my point of view. I wish that there was some way to know for sure.
If anyone knows how to tell the age of a cat please let me know.

Hi, Craig. Looks like MSNBC got their head out of their a--. Glad you were back on.
Couple weeks ago I asked for your appraisal of the following scenario with slight modification below:
Hillary wins Indiana
Obama wins my narrow margin in NC
Hillary blows Obama out in WV and KY
Democratic leaders start to realize that Clinton is the one who can beat McCain.
Now that we know Rev Wright is going to be front and center indefinitely (understand he has a book coming out in a couple months), what do you think of possibility that Dems will wise up and run Clinton/Obama ticket?

Here's a pic of Chopper. His photo is still up on the website of the rescue place where I got him.

He's been in my house just two days now, and he already is acting like he owns the neighborhood. He was out in the yard with my all afternoon as I worked to dogproof the fence. He's definitely wearing me out already, but he's having a great time...and so am I. Thanks Harborwoman, and Karen...and all who have asked about him.

Good looking dog
A neighbor had a Jack Russel. All it seemed to do all day was bounce across the yard. , boing, boing, boing, boing.
My wife and I both have a dog each from back when we were single. I got my Red Dog from a bunch of drunks walking down the street. She was just a ball of fluff she didn't run she just rocked back and forth like she was a little rockinghorse. They wanted to get rid of her and I couldn't resist.
She is part chow and part something smaller like a sheltie so she is smaller than a Chow. But people often ask if she bites so I look at them and say "well she is a chow you know"
She doesn't , she's a wuss. She trapped a squirrel in the garage. Had it in the corner her nose almost against it barking. Poor thing was covered with slobber but she never bit it.

Zoey...yes, I was extremely happy with the efficiency and quality of Petfinder. And...the specific rescue place (called "Bow Wow Botique" in Crystal River Florida) was awesome. I didn't know what to expect. It's a pretty rural area of Florida, and services in general in those areas can be hit and miss.
But when I got there, it was extremely clean, spacious...and all the employees were actually in uniforms, like it was a hospital. They were great people, doing God's work.

Jack...I think Chopper's gonna be pretty smart. Today, when he was barking at every pedestrian passerby I finally tried to hush him. I just said: "Chopper, barking at strangers is pretty cliche behavior for a dog. Can't you come up with something a little more original?"
He just turned his head and gave me that dog look like I was crazy...but he quieted right down, and then just laid on on his belly and watched the action from then on out.

True Obama supporters will stick with Obama inspite of Rev. Wright's antics. It is clear that Rev. Wright is enjoying the spotlight, and it is unfortunate that his remarks have not been more tempered. Having said that, Obama really might not have had a clue that this was the real Rev. Wright. How many conservatives are now totally turned off with Bush? They thought they knew him. Do we ever really know people? I've seen news accounts of wives that end up killed by their husbands for insurance money. If It is possible to live with someone and not really know them, surely it is more than possible that Obama didn't really know Wrights truest identity on every level.
**NEWS FLASH** The president of the United States is the president of ALL the people, regardless of how extreme their views are. I am often amazed that I never hear people outraged about Rush Limbaugh and he spews hate and racism over the airways DAILY, and Cheyney has been on the air with him more than once while a sitting V.P.
While people are raging about the audacity of Rev. Wright to make comments, I'm yet to hear any call Wright a liar on the factual content of his speeches over the weekend and today. I thought journalism was about reporting the truth. We in this nation are reducing that craft (journalism) to tabloid media when soldiers are still dying, gas is $4 a gallon, people are losing homes, and our grandchildren will be paying for this war for years to come.
Rev Wright served in the U.S. military to protect the right of freedom of speech for all of us. This is still America and we do (inspite of George W. Bush) still have a constituion and bill of rights and the citizens of this great country are free to speak. Even the Limbaughs and the Wright or the world. Only those who really dont want to see Obama president in the first place are foolish enought to attempt to try to hold him accountable for all that Wright says. Again I say, if you are capable of thinking on that level, you probably bought into the WMD hype also and we all know what that got us.
GOD HELP US!

This isn't about Wright, well, only a little bit about him. It's about ourselves and our society and how we look at ourselves and how we react to words.
Wright's words speak for themselves. Read the transcript if you haven't already done that. They need no interpretation, no translation, no contextual guidance from anyone other than one's self.
We have to decide whether or not someone who has been a congregant for 20-years in Pastor Wright's parish, whose most important family member makes, repeatedly, a statement saying she is proud of our country for the first time in her adult life, does indeed share the values that we aspire to for ourselves, and demand in our president.
This isn't about Rush or Vice President Cheney, or Mr Bush. It's about each of us.

At this rate it will be over $4 dollars a gallon before summer.

I have seen it here too, mostly from Heather. I am not sure which points upset her, but if I had to guess I would say that the far left ( like the far right ) is what people attack when attacking the opposite side, and therefore providing "fuel" to the fire of defeating the opposition.
Just a guess ?

I read the other day that the best investment these days is your pantry. The return on food is better than a savings account or stock market. The article recommended buying canned goods, pasta, etc. on sale and saving for the future meal. It is not that reality of this happening to all of us, but the speed with which prices have escalated.
I still have a problem with CEOs that get millions of dollars in compensation and the average family is hurting. I really worry about children going hungry. The balance is all messed-up. I am a capitalist, but how much does an individual need once their worth is beyond $20 million. I prefer living small, debt free and happy.

It is time for the Republican-controlled Media to give this Wright controversy some fairness and balance and to enquire of Hillary Clinton and her surrogates the following:
Is it true that, (1) Hillary surrogate, Congresswoman Shiela Jackson Lee, is also a devotee of Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright; that he's been preaching at her home church, where she is actively involved, annually for the past 15 years and has an open invitation to return, and, that she sat in the pews for his visits and did not bat an eye? AND
Is it true that (2) Hillary surrogate, Rev. Marcia Dyson was not only a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ but also still considers Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright her pastor? That Rev. Marcia Dyson's seminary education, in part, was sponsored by Trinity UCC and encouraged by Rev. Wright? And was it not at Trinity were she first met her husband, Rev. Dr. Michael Dyson, who's been very vocal in his defense of Rev. Wright.?
And, lastly to Hillary Clinton, that if Rev. Wright would not have been her Pastor, then why did she and Bill when going through Impeachment, turn to Rev. Wright for Prayer and Support and invite him to the White House? These things should be asked and answered.
And, finally, why would a Republican-controlled Media give a "retired" Rev. Wright all this attention and air time, if not to try to destroy Barack Obama!? -- Their true Fear! That is why "daily" 24/7, the Republican-controlled media and talking heads are build-up Hillary, tear/smear down Obama, while McCain courts African-Americans that Clintons have ailenated by their "kitchen sink strategy, hoping all the while that she will become the Democratic nominee, so they can unleash the "arsenol" of weapons they have against her. Something they have been planning for years! Craig writes "usually without sucess"! More Republican spin!
I submit, the Media is not our friend!
And, it is now time for the Parting of the Ways. I now understand why Barack thinks some people are bitter -- he has been conditioned to that by his Pastor to think that some people are bitter, although Barack was not subject himself to this bitterness!

Wino: I heard an interview with a journalist from the Wall Street Journal on the radio the other day and he also recommended stocking up on non-perishables as prices were going nowhere but up. He said things like, "If you have little room in your kitchen explore storage options around the house...use other rooms to store items if you need to." It was like I was in the Twilight Zone.
When my husband and I first got married our food budget was $50-$75 a week (15+ years ago.) Now we spend anywhere between $350-$500 a week. I have a lot of friends who tell me they are spending $200-$250 but I don't think they are counting all of the little trips to pick up milk, bread etc. throughout the week or that they are including lunches if their husbands pick up lunch at work.

Of course its not about Bush... it never is. Of course it's not about Cheney... don't want voters to remember Halliburton and the no bid contracts and the billions of tax payer dollars that have been and are being wasted.... you know... real issues.
The fact is Hagee, Parsley and other white pastors have made remarks from the pulpit that are considered extreme and controversial as well. This is about a double standard. I get tired of republican transgressios being excused away, and everytime Obama breathes, he get crucified. I get tired of the utter hypocracy. The problem is that the American people can be so gullible. (All chicken little has to do is say, "the sky is falling"). It makes me ill.
MSNBC news anchor Tameron Hall said today on the air that she has visited Wright's church 4 times, and she never saw that side of Wright. Oprah Winfrey has gone there, she obviously didn't see that side of Wright. If the clips of Rev. Wright played over and over are representative of how Rev Wright preached all the time over the last 30 years, then why doesn't someone run out and buy the dvd's and put together a 2 hour documentary of nothing but Rev. Wright spewing that kind of rhetoric.? The I'll be convinced. Should be easy to do, if that is the way he has preached for 30 years. And let me suggest to you, if Fox News could put together a documentary to confirm what they are trying to make voters believe, they would alreay have done it a long time ago. So... take the challenge anybody... and lets provide evidence that Obama had to have heard Wright say the things that he (Obama) says he didnt hear. It is so wrong to accuse a man without proof of what you are accusing him of. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction . And for all of you that are willing to make Obama guilty by association, be careful, lest ye find yourselves being judged by the same measure in some unfortunate circumstance in your own life. It's tough enough to deal with the consequences of my own transressions, I certainly dont want to be held responsible for the sins of another and I dont think anyone reading this post does either. We are at such a critical time in history, yet so many seem to be willing to let distractions that were certain to come into play (because Obama is a man of color), take us away from the real issues. Like Obama said, If it wasn't this, it would be something else. Did you really expect in a country that has never dealt with the issue of race intelligently or effectively, that a man of color would just breeze into the oval office? Every candidate has some questionable ties. Whatever happened to forgiveness and mercy? or is that only applied to republican failures? Jesus told us to love our enenmies.... guess He was just talking. Yes Jesus would want us to forgive even Rev. Wright.... go figure

Wino: We eat at home just about every night in an effort to stay on a budget and because there is nowhere to eat in Iowa (ha!) I just recently heard about the vinegar thing...I am going to try that. One of my girlfriends saw it on Oprah.
I did not know that we could be more suseptible to food poisoning! But I will tell you this: One of my sons did not get sick. He was in that little cabin with the barfers and the poopers (sorry to be graphic) and he didn't get sick. I saw something on the news that said researchers are developing a vaccine to prevent these Norwalk-like viruses and they are using the people (like my son) who have a natural immunity to develop the vaccine.

I have been meat free for over thirty years, but I was raised on beef. My father was really was bummed when I quit...I used to be his "steak girl." But, my cats and dogs and hubbies have/are carnivores and there is nothing wrong with that. I have found more health benefits than anything else. Eating lower on the food chain is fine, but my friends always remind me Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian.

And who's forgetting Republican transgressions? Certainly not I.
This crud that we've been wading through for the past few months is about our own party. I've expressed my concerns about the suitability of one of the candidates. Others have done the same about the other candidate. That's fine.
And people have wondered if candidates on the far left or right should be elected. My thinking is that people on the extremes do not generally reflect the consensus positions supported by most Americans. If that's the case, what's the rationale, other than belief in their innate superiority, that those individuals should be placed in charge of people they don't agree with and probably don't respect?

Sturg, if you have anything more than a casual interest in Nazi Germany, the autobiography of Albert Speer is really worthwhile. The Nazification of Germany really demonstrated how people can be tragically manipulated while others mind their own business.

Looks like we had better use our rebates from IRS for food stocking up. They said spend it. And, better buy a bicycle also. fox news says gas likely to go to $10 a gallon. Used to be chinese used bicycles and we had cars, now they have the cars , our money courtesy of GWB, and they are buying up the fuel for their cars and we will be reduced to the bicycles..

Outrage: DNC Ad Shows U.S. Soldiers Being Blown Up
"The Democratic National Committee has sparked outrage among veterans and others across the internet by running an anti-John McCain ad that shows U.S. soldiers being blown up.
The DNC ad then shows an explosive device detonating near two soldiers standing beside a palm tree. The two soldiers disappear in an explosive fireball. The video also shows images of burning vehicles."

is there any particular reason we should not show what it looks like for a man to be blown to bits? Is it ok if only we cant see it? I say, if somewhere there is an american man.......any man of any persuasion.....or woman......if somewhere in the world a human is being blown apart in my name........maybe I oughta see it.

that's it BBB, still reading and agreeing all the way as i go.more later. There's your answer Craig:
"The group that is more than likely going to decide the election in the fall is a group I call the Merely Prejudiced. They are not pathological in their hatred of blacks, but they are not entirely comfortable with black people or black culture. They tend be older, less educated, sit on the fringe of being truly middle class, and are not afraid to be quoted in a major newspaper saying, "this country ain't ready for a black president."

Wow, first opportunity to get back on the computer and everyone is gone. I should probably go to sleep also.
LL: Thank you for the picture of Chopper. What a cutie! I got my two rescue dogs from Petfinder. It is a wonderful website.
I must say that it was a real hoot to watch the various pundits in a complete tizzy tonight over Reverend Wright. It's much ado about nothing but try to tell the press that. I'll say this much, though. I do question his timing with respect to his media blitz. I don't think it is going to change the outcome of the upcoming primaries, but of course, the pundits are saying it will. They've stopped Hillary bashing for 24 hours but I'm sure that will change in the next 24 hour news cycle. It was weird, I actually watched KO this evening and he was shall I say ... even-handed. Almost like the old Keith. Maybe he's adjusted his meds ... KO did talk about Craig Ferguson's (love Craig's monologues on his show) remark that all the trouble between KO and O'Reilly is actually sexual tension. Very entertaining. Keith, ever the megalomaniac seemed to enjoy the fact that he was mentioned at the prom.
See you tomorrow, guys!

Looks like the Rev. Wright fiasco really blew up today.
What an arrogant, disdainful person he is.
His patronizing and disrespectful treatment of the woman reading the questions at the National Press Club event was disgusting.
I don't see how anyone could spend 2 hours, much less 20 years listening to him.
