Sen. John McCain is traveling the country to talk about his military heritage. Craig takes a musical look at the risks and rewards of McCain's biographical tour.
Craig on MSNBC "Morning Joe" Wednesday (4/2) 6:30 AM EST
In politics since the country began, every candidate has a season of perceived unfair treatment. Their supporters are either right or they are truly loyal to a fault and see damage where there is none.
I understand this season of politics is also a season where the media is manipulating well meaning yet very very green voters into thinking there is a problem where there is none.
I would just like to express that the Obama supporters are feeling the same way. So aggressive is the media to whip up reality where there is none.
.. The Saudi government is now preparing plans to deal with "any sudden nuclear and radioactive hazards" that may arise from an attack on Iran's nuclear reactors. This was reported by a top Saudi newspaper, Okaz, and relayed by a leading German news service, DPA -- one day after Dick Cheney paid a visit to the kingdom. As we noted, no one knows exactly what was said at that confab of allied authoritarians -- but something sure lit a fire under the Saudis, and convinced them that urgent action is needed to brace for the lethal overspill from a strike on Iran.
"the last time Cheney visited the nations he visited this time was right before the Iraq attack,"
So lets just keep on bashing each others candidate and not worry about the illegal War Der Fuhrer Adolph Bush and the Dark Lord are planning to get us into.
Damn, I have to wait until I get home to view the vid.
btw, TX is a classic example of why the dem nominating process has to be reformed. No process that provides a victory for one candidate via secret ballot in the morning and a victory for the other via caucuses in the evening based on the participation of only people who voted in the morning is reasonable IMHO.
And if anyone is looking for an endorsement of the media coverage of any candidate, look somewhere else - you won't find it here.
John McCain is so unbelievibly out of touch, I just think that even with some DEMs and Indies voting for him, the DEM Nom will still get the Presidency in November.
For those who have a few minutes, a little romp through Pollster.com is worth the time - both for the pres polls in the upcoming primaries (HRC ahead substantially in 4, BHO ahead substantially in 2), and for the senatorial races - Dems ahead in all but one (MN) and it is close.
I've been waiting for you. Besides wishing you luck for the season, I wanted to be sure to note that with yesterday's rainout, the Yankees are still one game up on the Bosox in the loss column. (Experts will tell you only losses count, so I'm ignoring the fact that you're also one game up in the win column.)
Let's hope for a great season, while each of us hopes our guys come out at least one game better than the others. I'll be at The Stadium for Thursday night's game. My second worry is whether the Yankees win. My first concern will be keeping warm.
Dear Craig:
Love your vid as always, however you may consider the flag pin silly stuff but you have to concede that it makes for good politics "Middle America" takes that stuff seriously
P.S. I loved the Johnny B. Goode at the end :-))
Sincerely,
Heather
Dear Sheila:
You may have missed my earlier post a week or so ago stating that I would be loyal to my party and if Obama is the nominee I'd have to swallow my pride and vote for him.
There is a lot I do not like about Obama but there is even more I do not like about the Republican Party its contempt for the poor, its arrogance in its policies, its refusal to compromise and its total disrespect of the civil liberties of American Citizens in privacy / FISA issues and torture.
Somebody might remind Sen. McCain of the original lyrics to When Johnny Comes Marching Home
Johnny We Hardly Knew Ye
Where are your legs that used to run, hurroo, hurroo
Where are your legs that used to run, hurroo, hurroo
Where are your legs that used to run,
When you went for to carry a gun
Indeed your dancing days are done
Oh Johnny, I hardly knew ye
Ye haven't an arm, ye haven't a leg, hurroo, hurroo
Ye haven't an arm, ye haven't a leg, hurroo, hurroo
Ye haven't an arm, ye haven't a leg,
Ye're an armless, boneless, chickenless egg
Ye'll have to put with a bowl out to beg
Oh Johnny I hardly knew ye
McCain's campaign is all about war, war, and more war. That's not going to play well this year. He'll win the Confederate states, because they're still fighting the Civil War, but not too many others outside of Dixie.
Most Americans are sick of the Iraq war and are worried about the economy, education, and health care. McCain has nothing to say to them except, "Give me your kids so I can get them killed in a stupid, pointless 100-year war."
As a fellow keyboardist, I notice that your piano sounds a tad out of tune, but perhaps that was recording distortion. I'll copy my last thread post here later, but the tact that McCain is using is essential for him, given the questions raised in my last post. On one hand, we have a very patriotic sounding McCain and on the other, we have an Obama who has failed to explain how patriotism or a plausible pro-Islraeli stance can be squared with his associations and tenure at the Woods Fund. This is a contrast that McCain can't miss. Shall Democrats nominate a candidate who continued to sit next to Ayers after he announced on 9/11 he hadn't bombed the US enough? Will Obama's funding of both Trinity and the AAAN through Woods square with his eventual pivot to the center. Now who will seem more authentic? Perhaps you should learn a funeral march or two and play that here come November.
In any case, as an interior designer/renovationist, nice pad. You seem quite a good fit in your home, which is an art in itself.
Impressive - a one day telephone poll that is inconsistent with their own poll of 3 days before and the ARG poll concluding on the same day as the new Rasmussen poll.
Just so no one forgets the Republicans registered as Democrats to vote in the Primary for Hillary. They have no intention of voting for her in November is she's the nominee.
Same thing happened in Ohio and Texas. They are the Oxycontin crossovers.
I have this exact bumper sticker! And I still have my Harold Ford sticker on, as well. I've actually seen quite a few people who are still pissed enough about that election that they won't take their stickers off....
I believe I heard that before only at the time it was from HRC supporters and it went something like this.
"Just so no one forgets the Republicans registered as Democrats to vote in the Primary for Barry. They have no intention of voting for Barry in November if Barry is the nominee"
BTW did you you notice how insulting it is to use the casual first name in a serious discussion. Those nasty HRC supporters shame on them for doing that.
On Friday night, Helen Thomas gave a rousing keynote speech for the Women, Action and the Media conference at MIT. Among her comments:
On media bias:
"Hillary is getting a bad rap with the media. Obama is walking on water with the media . . . Being racist is more verboten than being anti-woman."
On Hillary's campaign:
When an audience member asked, "Is there merit in supporting a woman presidential candidate because she's a woman?" Thomas says: "Yes. I honestly think that our time has come, and I think our time should have come long ago . . . Hillary has worked hard. She has tried hard . . . She can't open her mouth - and neither can her husband - without being denounced."
On calls for Hillary to drop out:
"If I were Hillary, I'd stay in the race. I can't help but admire her grit. Maybe it's all over, and that's what they're trying to tell her, but I wouldn't listen."
nash, you are right about the deep south going for McCain (at least 8 and as many as 11 states), and you are right about the deep south still fighting the civil war, but you are wrong about the deep south voting for mccain because the states there are still fighting the civil war. They will vote for McCain in larger numbers than Obama (I'm assuming here that he eventually becomes the nominee) because they think McCain represents God, guns, family values and states' rights. They bought the Wallace lines in the 60s about states' rights (code word - segregation) and Reagan lines in the 80s, and they ain't comin' back. Plus, Obama is a black appearing biracial candidate who affects a southern black accent (see states' rights reference above), and the deep south will never vote for that yet - not enough enlightened college students and young adults to swing the vote from the old attitudes. At least that's the view from this ole south'un boy's perspective.
And Pogo, I believe you slammed it home there. Great explanation and something that I have learned from having a family in NC and being stationed in a couple of those states.
An Ode To Lefty Bloggers Who Hate Hillary
By Madeleine Kane
Obama supporters proclaim
That Clinton must quit, hurling blame,
Shrieking “Stop this damn fray!”
Dems love fighters, they say.
But not if the fighter’s a dame.
Max, I was agreeing with your take on the issues you listed, and I agree that those will be problems that Obama will have to address unless he wants to get bludgeoned with them - I just intended to point out that I didn't think they were bogus. And whether you have dem, rep or indie leanings, I never discount what you post.
Yes, Jack, hide AAAN, Ayers, Khadili and even Woods Fund under the banner of South Side minoirities. That's a good joke. Hamas and the the Black Panthers have groups in New York and I don't see Hillary chumming it up with them nnor does anyone think the Clintons would listen to Wright for twenty years.
It is the old story of political opportunity over principle and what the hell does Rezko have to do with the South Side? Oh, he was the money train. Tough choices Obama? A bold record? Never took tained money? Isn't very Liberal?
You know this joke of a front coupled with Media madness is why Hillary trails. So I have every right to defend this absurdity. Yall can bend over backwards making excuses for Barry, but I hope you aren't bent over come November. Elections should not be about anti-the-other-guy. It should be about principle, policy, record and judgment. Given Pelosi's threat to boycott the Olympics who sees Carter coming? No wonder he has been pushed far from the picture with Zbig.
So brand me whatever, question my claim to be an Independent. Call my objections bogus. Par for the course guys.
Yeah Jack. I once ignored the warning sirens and almost drove into a friggin Tornado. The lesson was not lost on me.
obama won't win the south'' he won't win the west
i don't believe idaho 'wyoming ect. will be sweep away with the obama fever''' he' s pissed off florida and michican ' does'nt have hispanic support''how do obama's supporters add up enough electorial collage votes to win in the general election ? illinois and vermont ?
"The church where Sen. Barack Obama has worshipped for two decades publicly declares that its ministry is founded on a 1960s book that espouses "the destruction of the white enemy."
Trinity United Church of Christ's Web site says its teachings are based on the black liberation theology of James H. Cone and his 1969 book "Black Theology and Black Power."
"What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love," Mr. Cone wrote in the book."
I fear a piano may have to be involved in any future Crawdads meet-up.
Although if you guys start singing selections from Barnum or anything about bricks or similar compositions from American musical theatre, I might have to take my drink in a go cup.
Count me as loving the south. For the most part I absolutely love the culture, but as with all parts of the US, there are black marks and this is one of them. I still cringe at my family's leaning in NC behind closed doors. From a Eutopean childhood in sleepy little Bremerton Washington to the gritty reality of the south at 18. It was most shocking that the rest of the US hadn't listen and swallowed all of MLK.
Listen, not to poor anything on anything mind you, but I found this this morning on Feingold. He voted for Obama in his primary....
Russ Feingold came closer to endorsing Obama during an editorial board meeting with the La Cross Tribune. "Feingold said he voted for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in the Wisconsin presidential primary, and is 'highly inclined' to cast his superdelegate vote for Obama at the Democratic National Convention because Obama won Wisconsin. The past few weeks have been bad news for Democrats, Feingold said, mentioning problems between the campaigns of Obama and U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y."
"Obama's speech Tuesday about racial issues raised by his Chicago pastor was 'very convincing,' Feingold said. 'He pushed it away pretty good today, but it's going to keep coming back.'"
Military service is perhaps the last unimpeachable qualification in this country, as far as running for elected office. I worry less about what McCain does than about what rabid right wingers will resort to in order to keep the White House this fall. They've got too much to lose, and frankly, I predict the Swift Boat attacks of 2004 will look tame by comparison.
Madmustard, that is high praise indeed, considering that it comes from the Master his own self. But all credit for the slick video work goes to a great producer, CQ's Andrew Satter!
Hi Mary Kitt: yes, the swift boat attacks will likely be terrible, but the audience for them has become much sadder and wiser. Think a lot of Americans will be better critical thinkers with this match-up.
Economy is heading south, home values declining; uncertain job prospects; their 401(k) value in for a roller coaster; college tuition increasing; still in a terrible war that might encumber their own children -- where do we keep getting military recruits?
Is a culture war still the greatest danger facing them?
This is a change election
If you don't believe it, you should have went with me this morning. I pulled into the gas station this morning with a $50 bill and got change back: 2 dimes and a quarter.
Had to write a check for coffee.
Rambo McCain will never be able to move enough to the center to win the general election.
Joe Scarboprough this AM admitted that he didn't see any way McCain could win and predicted that 2008 would be a disaster for all Republicans running for office.
nash, sh*t, man, I lived it as an antiwar, antisegregation, pro gun control agnostic democrat and was pissed that the issues I thought mattered died on the vine down there.
And yeah, She, I love many aspects of southern culture, hate a few, and married a Yankee girl who has delusions of being a Southern Belle. (BTW, you did write the same thing, you did write the same thing.) ;-)
"Next is Media Matters’ Eric Boehlert. He refers us to McCainFreeRide.com for the excellent book produced by Media Matters, Free Ride. MM doesn’t use the word “bias,” but there’s a new phenomenon … it goes back to Gore’s press in 1999 which was “really unfair and really weird.” What’s happening online now is potentially dangerous: HRC has gotten dreadful press, not fair, “gotcha,” and so on — there’s a portion of the blogosphere that has ignored that and there’s a portion that has encouraged that.
I’m not,” I said. I told him most of the bloggers I know are appalled at the present state of affairs, and that they’d basically been bullied into silence. (Which I find ironic - white working class Clinton voters are called “Archie Bunker types” by Obama supporters, and yet the Clinton supporters are the ones being told to “Stifle yourself!”)
He said he was astounded at the venom those bloggers described, and had already collected so much material, he was thinking of making it a separate book.
It’s dangerous because the media criticism has to be consistent and relentless, and we can’t very well say, “You can’t go after our candidates … except this one.” I get nervous about pushback regarding disingenuous coverage - our response needs to be, “You can’t treat Democrats this way.” When people in the left blogosphere are quoting an anonymous Matt Drudge source, it makes me nervous."
I know my line is getting old, but I keep using it anyway. Telling other people at the gas pump, I'm amazed at how my gas tank keeps growing. It must have grown, because when I bought the car, I couldn't even fit $25 worth of gas in it, and now there's still room after $40.
Obama is a "secret Muslim" would be part of the narrative used in the GE - fits with Rev Wright (GD America), flag pin, Ayers, etc. It is only necessary to plant "seeds of doubt".
This is from israelinsider - Israel's daily newsmagazine"
"Is Barack Obama a Muslim wolf in Christian wool?
The glib handling of criticism of his relationship with the anti-American ("God Damn America!") and anti-Israel ("a dirty word for Negroes") Reverend James Wright may have bought him a little time. But the legacy of dissimulation about his long-concealed identity is about to come crashing down around the ears of Barack Hussein Obama, courtesy of the assembled testimony of his family, friends, classmates and teachers.
The accumulated research indicates that Obama was in his childhood a devout Muslim, the son of a devout Muslim, the step-son of a devout Muslim and the grandson and namesake ("Hussein") of a devout Muslim. He was registered in school as a Muslim and demonstrated his ability to chant praise to Allah in impressive Arab-accented tones even as an adult. Just as he has not disavowed his "uncle" Jeremiah, neither has he disavowed his Muslim faith that he was born into, raised with, celebrated and never abandoned. He just covered it over with a thin veneer of his own self-styled "Christianity."
(OK, I'm ready - start screaming. Do you really believe this is going away? It is out there and would help destroy Obama and the Dem Party. The attack line would be: "What kind of political party would nominate a man like this? Only a bunch of America - Hating Loony Lefties!" Obama supporters better wake up to reality before it is too late.)
Those who did vote for Obama in the primaries will vote for him in November if he's the nominee.
Those who voted for Hillary won't. Dan Abrams called Rush out and said that he pushing voter fraud and that one of his listeners posted on a blog that he switched over to vote for Hillary like Rush said, but he wouldn't in November.
Dan said that they are going to investigate and file charges against that person when they find out who it is. Rush may be in some legal trouble.
But then you don't watch Dan Abrams because he's on MSNBC and you think they are all traitors.
I still stand by my statement that the Republicans who crossed over to vote for Hillary won't and those that crossed over for Obama will.
And if anyone read my link on the Dark Lord and his Mid East visit also read about the Nuclear Sub moving into the area. What do we need a Nuclear Sub in the Persian Gulf for except to be used in a Nuclear Strike against Iran?
Hillary's a closet Republican who will use the MCA of 2006 against American Citizens and label all those who are not with her Enemy Combatants.
She will not give up the power the Executive Branch has been given by the Nazi Legislatures along with some Enabling Democrats.
I believe that Obama would revoke those bills by executive order and not use them against Americans. Hillary I doubt would do that but use them to further her political ambitions.
If Obama wins the nomination, McCain is going to have a field day with this Church. Hannity and crew will distroy him. Who knows what else is out there. For his sake it better all come out now instead of in October.
Independent semi-tractor trailer drivers around the country are parking their rigs to protest record high fuel prices. It's about time someone is taking a stand. To bad we all are going to suffer. Maybe the three candidates will go back to their day jobs and make a difference.
My question again is why, where ever you turn, from Michelle's thesis, stump comments and her blasts on Clinton, the Woods Fund, Khadili, Auchi and Rezko, Meeks, Wright, Malley, Zbig, Ayers, Trinity newsletters, Jackson, endorsements from the likes of Farrakhan etc. you see a particular picture? Why nmot another picture? If these were just random associations one would expect a web of a opposite chracterizations. Obama could have sat on other boards. Why is it that this meme keeps coming back? Could it be that the history here reflects a certain slant? Is it bloggers bias or the simple history? And if the former, why isn't the campaign spin disingenuous? That is the problem from Foreign Policy to associations.
Yep, Obama has delivered some good comments and views on the stump. He can be inspiring, no doubt. But that is surface stuff. Why are those who have serious claims based on the similarities of the Obama "problems" told they're crazy or Republicans in drag?
All I asked for was a plausible excuse. These issues are far more damning than Whitewater. We had a good candidate in Hillary. If one is going to attack her, the replacement has to be better. We are substituting style and a pretense of moderation and bipartansim, for a safer bet. The sad truth is that the Democrats reject Hillary's foreign policy and national security inclinations. The Democrats seem to prefer a psuedo-centrism to spin for the general election and those who oppose the strategy are either stupid, Republicans or worse.
The irony is the attacks on Hillary come from the perception of 1. Her dominating machine-like quality (power over all) 2. her disengenuous 3. her "problems".
Well Obama has matched them in spades and then some. He will have to react to global problems and failures will come to all who take office. In his case, the Obama "problems" will be linked to these expected failures and he will be under seige from day one. Imagine any attack here and the stories about his pro-Hamas friends will come back with a vengence.
I don't buy the Obama is a secret Muslim. I don't buy he really sympathies with extremist views. I think he tacked a conventional course to get money and votes even if it meant associating with ideologies he now runs from. He then re-botted his story for the general. It is the weakness behind this mask, I find problematic and the adoring support of Media makes matters worse.
So what is the logic? That Red States will turn blue? That Obama will accomplish much? That the problems won't go away? You know, a phyrric victory bodes poorly for Democrat's long term. A big failure of neoCarterism will bring distrut for a generation. McCain certainly has holes. We do not need more NEOCON planning, but the message of taking an active pro-LIberal Democratic stance globally to induce reformation must be advanced because our adversaries love retreat. Under Obama's watch, Iran will likely get the bomb.
Remember, it took a Reagan to wipe away our doubts and depression. Do we really want to go through that, or instead, see a completion of the Clinton referendum, prosperity and a sure signal to others that America is nobody's fool, not Bush's and certainly not extremists, criminals or adversaries hoping to advance under American doubt.
Senator Hillary Clinton’s lead in the Pennsylvania Primary is SHRINKING.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Pennsylvania shows Clinton leading Barack Obama by JUST five percentage points, 47% to 42%. For Clinton, that five-point edge is DOWN from a ten-point lead a week ago, a thirteen-point lead in mid-March and a fifteen-point advantage in early March.
Pelosi backs down...what a wimp...can't even stand by her own comments...Now the superDs should vote their conscience? Guess she realized she might need a little bit of that donor money to get herself re-elected at some point. Just another shining example of her crappy leadership.
"Speaking on ABC's "Good Morning America," Pelosi said that the Democratic superdelegates have a right to vote their consciences rather than just be bound by the results of the contests in their home districts or states.
Previously, Pelosi (D-San Francisco) had said she thought the votes of the superdelegates should follow the results of the contests during the primary and caucus season."
Obama is ahead of HRC by some 700,000 popular votes, but 600,000 of these votes come from BHO's home state of Illinois.
HRC would be a fool to drop out of this race. Basically it is a dead heat, and if you count FL and MI HRC then becomes the person with the most popular vote. Don't forget PA will go big time for HRC.
There goes Barack again...trying to pad his resume...admit it kid...you got NOTHIN'
"A widely forwarded e-mail claims that Obama's bills are more substantive and numerous than Clinton's. Don't believe it.
A misleading e-mail has been making the rounds, alleging that Clinton has fewer legislative accomplishments than Obama, and that they are less substantive. We've had questions about it from a number of readers, and blogs have jumped into the fray. So what's the real story on the Senate careers of the Democratic presidential candidates?
We find that the e-mail is false in almost every particular..."
Lies about his Father's connection to the Kennedys (there wasn't one)
Lies about the reasons for his mother and father hooking up...make it sound like he's the product of the civil rights movement...he wasn't
OK...let's not call them lies...that is mean. Let's call them Embellishments
This is what happens when you don't really have much going for you...you don't have a real resume to run on...you have to embellish everything in order to make yourself look qualified.
Fry: welcome! We were wondering where you had been.
Am wondering about PA myself. Agree with Wendy! (amazingly) that Survey USA is often way more reliable than Rasmussen. Although it's too far out to make a sensible wager.
But might get drawn into a bet for an amazon.com gift certificate (modest amount) or donation to kiva.com gift certificate (great microlending site). Something easily emailable.
Thinking on that....
Agree PA will be way tough for Obama, but he has done better than expected pretty much down the line...
But I did hear something tragically not so funny the other day on the Zogby hour - While talking to a nationally syndicated PA columnist, Zogby asked him how can obama win PA...the guy said...and I'm not paraphrasing..."have Hillary assassinated..."
Zogby was a little dumbfounded by the response...not sure how to respond to that kind of advice...anyway...the guy did back pedal a bit and say...Obama won't / can't beat Hillary in PA
Obama will outspend Hillary 2-1 or 3-1 in PA and he'll still lose by 15%.
Even if you include FL & MI - as is - Obama still leads in the popular vote. And even if there is a re-do - Obama will do better than he did in the previous elections. (Mostly because Clinton gets +328K from MI - since she was the only candidate that left her name on the ballot).
So I think you Clintonites should stop assuming Clinton will finish with more popular votes - even if there are re-dos or the FL popular votes are included.
Obama, should crown himself the King of the No Answer, Answer.
CNBC's Maria Bartiromo interviewed BHO last week, if you missed it you missed some of the vaguest answers to the nations economics that are nothing less than just downright scary. Should he get be elected POTUS, my advise come Wednesday morning following the election would be to sell all your stock ASAP. BHO can't figure out why Warren Buffett pays a lower tax rate than say Buffett's secretary. The reason Barry, one is salary, and one is capital gains. Capital gains are taxed at a lower rate because it is a source of revenue derived from investments, because there is no guaranteed you'll ever make a profit. Salary on the other hand are paid by your employer and are subject to a number of taxes and withholdings. But what can you expect from a guy who thinks granting illegal immigrants a drivers license will somehow protect you the lawful driver. Damn all the time I thought what protected me in the case of an accident was insurance. What insurance company is going to insure an illegal immigrant who can't produce a driving history? BHO's theme song should be a twist of the old Roy Orbison song, "Pretty Paper".
Can you image what would be said if this situation was reverse? BHO you have to drop out. LMAO Shouts of racist would be echoing down the halls of the DNC. But since HRC is a merely a woman, a white woman at that, it is fair game to call for her to step down, to stop being an obstructionist.
Funny Fry - but it seemed to be fair game to call on Edwards, Romney and the Huck to step down.
People have every right to say HRC should step down (but they should shut up if they support Obama since it does him no good) - and HRC has every right to ignore them.
Obama Thugs Cause Mayor Nutter to shut down his Email Server
"As I wrote yesterday, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter’s office was flooded with angry calls from Obama supporters after he came out in support of Hillary. Some people doubted my statements but those that bothered to call mayor Nutter’s office confirmed everything that was written.
We all know how passionate those Obama cultists can me. And they have the Obamedia wrapped around their scrawny little fingers. So we cannot back down how ever often they threaten us. We represent the heart and soul of the Democratic party. They represent the far left wing radical wing of the Democratic party. And they are so determined to take over the party that they aren’t afraid to destroy it if they can’t."
Not funny warren, but true. HRC is a white woman who is being asked everyday to step down, HRC has a very good chance of pulling this off either during the primaries or at the convention. But would there be the same call for Barry to step down if the situation was reversed? I don't think so.
Does anyone in the state of Washington need a kitten?
This is Gabriel. She is 7 months old now and is being spayed and getting shots today. My granddaughter moved to California and Gabriel needs a forever home. She is a crossbreed but has perfect Siamese markings
"the votes of the superdelegates should follow the results of the contests during the primary and caucus season."
Except when asked about SDs such as Kennedy, she backed down. It's one of those by one set of rules vote Obama and if it doesn't fit the rule still vote Obama.
Nancy just can't get this leadership thing worked out. Her perfect pearls may be cutting off the oxygen.
"OK...let's not call them lies...that is mean. Let's call them Embellishments"
No lets call it what it is, a lie. The truth will set you free, and will make it much harder for your enemies to use your words against you.
Embellishment: make an account or description more interesting by inventing or exaggerating details. But the bedrock events are true.
A lie: to make an account or description more interesting by inventing or exaggerating details. This is nothing short of a falsehood. A fabrication of the truth for the purpose to deceive.
Sheila, that was delicious! I was busting a gut laughing.
Well as *you* know, and probably most know, I am supporting the Democrat no matter what. I love Hillary and I like Barack. I don't like how the campaigns operate, but them's politics! Although Bill Clinton said it himself, we all talked about it here much earlier... Hillary and Barack together would excite the spectrum of Democrats in this Presidential campaign. I have come to believe that they are Ying and Yang of the Democratic party, in this current campaign. I hope that find a way to work together, REALLY together to make them a "dream team" that will toss the Repugs out for at least 8 years. Call me foolish, but I am hopeful... very hopeful.
Tom
EUROTOM,
I think this might interest you...of course the rest of you might get a kick out of it too. More than just our stuff happening.
Nader Tells Gravel to Get Out of RaceMaking a Fool of Himself, Ralph Warns
"My take on it is a lot of Senator Obama's supporters want to end this race because they don't want people to keep voting," she told CBS affiliate KTVQ in Billings, Mont. "That's just the opposite of what I believe. We want people to vote. I want the people of Montana to vote, don't you?"
(Mostly because Clinton gets +328K from MI - since she was the only candidate that left her name on the ballot).
warren 2:16 PM
Well, no - Clinton, Dodd, Kucinich and Gravel were on the ballot there.
Haven't we been over this? It's ultimately about delegates, the superdelegates are going to decide who wins, and the 2 camps make their best pitches to them about why they should back one or the other candidate. It isn't about whether FL & MI should count, get half their delegates or a do-over, and it isn't about ignoring any states or votes. Haggle all you want, but nobody gonna know nuttin' - not even what each candidate's best pitch to the SDs is - 'til June.
As it stands now, Obama's pitch is simple - when you look at all the contests, he wins no matter what metric you look at from the results. Clinton's pitch now is basically threefold: in all the states Dems have to take in the general, plus the large swing states, she has won almost all of them; if you look at the states she's won from the perspective of the electoral college, she would do better in the general election if she could hold the traditionally dem and swing states; and if you ignore those states that are not going to vote any way but republican in the general, she has beaten Obama in every metric in states likely to vote dem in Nov. The issue is which of those arguments will appeal to enough of the SDs to swing them behind each candidate, and how many total delegates that will result in for each. We can only guess.
HRC has won how many blue states? How many blue states has BHO won? How many Ds are going to switch sides if BHO becomes the D's nominee? How many will switch sides if HRC becomes the D's nominee? The clear choice is HRC. BHO is old news and is being marked everyday by the news media as a teller of tall tales, code for lies. The news media are taking more and more shots at BHO's empty suit exterior.
You all heard of the movie, "The Invisible Man", well BHO is going to start in a new movie titled, "The Empty Suit Man". There is nothing there but a very thin shell, which matches his very thin answers to almost any question asked of him.
soon there will be the Empty Suit Man doll. Just pull the string and the same answer is repeated everytime. "Can't say now other than we have a plan, it will just depend. Raise taxes on the rich."
Have to say I loved the McCain clips if, for no other reason, my hometown is plastered all over the wall behind him...Meridian, MS, Meridian, MS, Meridian, MS. How is it that we never quite get over where we come from? I haven't been back to Meridian since 1999, but it's still home.
As for the base there that is named after McCain's granddad, I wonder when they changed the name? Growing up, I knew the base as Meridian Naval Air Station (McCain must have done part of his jet training there!). It's one of the RARE land-locked Navy bases. Why? Senator John Stennis enriched himself by selling the land it sits on to the federal government. Pols have ALWAYS known how to take care of themselves!
" use the MCA of 2006 against American Citizens and label all those who are not with her Enemy Combatants. She will not give up the power the Executive Branch has been given by the Nazi Legislatures along with some Enabling Democrats."
Anon -- you get crazier by the day A Nazi under ever bed. And Hillary is one of them. You Have NO evidence.
I have to agree Craig. One day you should grab a video cam and give us the Cook's tour of your home. I've wanted to see it since you talked about all the renovations ages ago.
Too big a stretch, I guess, Rez. Can't recall anyone by that name, but I can take a look in my old school yearbooks. How old would she be? (I'm probably quite a bit older...damn it!...which could be the problem....)
No biggie, I was in the are in the late early 70s. My guess on age would be 56+/- She was friend of friend etc. but her daddy was a bigshot in the Indian world back then Eugene Crawford
"Embellishment: make an account or description more interesting by inventing or exaggerating details. But the bedrock events are true.
A lie: to make an account or description more interesting by inventing or exaggerating details. This is nothing short of a falsehood. A fabrication of the truth for the purpose to deceive."
Fry...thanks for that clarification. OK...on second thought...they were all LIES. Obama full of lies lies lies.

Well all signed up I have my mlb.com premium and tonight our ace Chien-Ming Wang pitches against Toronto I look for low scoring game the great future hall of fame reliever Mariano River enters the ninth and I hear the magic words of John Sterling "the Yankees win thuhhhhhhhhhhh Yankeessssss winnnnnnnn!
ahhhhh music to me beloved Irish ears all is right with the world.
I noticed Nancy made her little announcement in front of a bank of flags today. If these politicians don't stop using the national icon as a theater prop, I may start thinking that flag burning is a good idea.
"The world is watching, learning. And American popularity in the eyes of global citizens watching us is surging because of the excitement and uncertainty of this fascinating election."
You gotta rockin' pneumonia
You need a shot of rhythm and blues!
...I 'm thinkin' callin' the reviewers

Roll over McCain
And God help us if ya don't lose!
"Glenn Greenwald has a new book out -- "Great American Hypocrites: Toppling the Big Myths of Republican Politics." As online denizens well know, it's a topic that Glenn has been mining for years:
That's the objective of this book -- to put these right-wing leaders under that same microscope and to apply the same standards to them -- the ones used successfully by them and their media allies to mock and destroy the personality and character of their opponents in order to win elections. Having the Right subjected to those same standards, and examining the media's central role in this process, is what is virtually never heard in the establishment press. A book about these themes which ends up succeeding and being widely read can force those arguments into the wider public discourse, which is where they need to be in order to be truly effective. Looked in my 1966 yearbook, Rez, but found no Rita Crawford. Could be that she's a bit younger and wouldn't have been in that yearbook, or could be that she didn't go to Meridian High School. She might have lived farther out of town, and gone to one of the county schools. But if she's 56-ish, we're pretty close in age. I'm 59.
Flatus: But bullying is the only way Obama's campaign knows how to win. That's how they rammed their candidate down everyone's (those that weren't locked out) throat in caucus states.
Now I understand why Obama appeals to Republicans. Obama and his followers constantly project their negative qualities on their opponent. Worked for Bush in '00 and '04 and has worked for congressional Republicans for years.
Atrocities Obama supporters and his campaign accuses the Clinton campaign of committing are probably being committed by Obama and his minions as we speak.
Obama realized he faced long odds and organized and invested in careful and longterm fieldwork. In this case, he had the advantage of not ever assuming he would be the frontrunner, and the assumptioins that came with that.
Does sound like there were some irregularities in Texas -- minor ones, but I saw some local news stories that seemed credible to me -- however that does not account for his winning record.
Know your comment was probably made out of frustration as much as anything else, but it's a misstatement.
PS: There were NUMEROUS reports of Clinton supporters locking the doors early in Nevada.
The problem with politics (and blogging about it)
is that it attracts people to participate in it. With all their idealism and flaws too.
I thought she was from Meridian...That's what caught my attention. . she was probably from elsewhere in the area.
I meet her with several of common friends in Philadelphia
Anyway...
"Flatus much could be said for the constant whine and lies coming from the Hillary crowd."
What in the world makes anyone think the Genesis of the worst attacks is within Mrs Clinton's camp?
A lot of the things being said strike me as being straight out of 'Campaign Disruption 101'. Such things have been done for years as a tactic intended to motivate and raise the passions of the side supposedly under attack.
And, I'm not saying the initiators are necessarily within Mr Obama's camp; people worldwide want to force breakdowns in our Constitutional processes.
But once an attack takes hold, no matter who initially generated it, it becomes viral.
This gives you a sense of why the GOP is pushing for a long, protracted battle that results in the super delegates overturning the results of the primaries.
Warren: I haven't been following all the delegate scenarios too closely with respect to the reactions of the various campaigns. Did the Clinton camp reject that idea?
Maybe we all should start first with a definition of a lie. Do we all agree it is the intentional telling of a false fact? This implies a reasonable criteria for what intentional is. Intentional is not less so because their are motives behind intention beyond lying. I don't think white lies play role in what we've been debating.
I heard Obama tell a reporter that he didn't vote on Quds sanctions because he wasn't informed of the specific time of the vote. He was absolutely told when the vote was to take place. Shall we call what he said a lie?
He told Russert in 2004 that the US needs to win in Iraq and stabilize the country. Given his speeches since then, was that a lie, especially as Obama points to prior speeches now in affirming his objections?
Obama said he supported the Amnesty compromise yet he intriduced a bill that violated the understanding and would have prohibited employers from checking the status of workers. Was that a lie?
Was it a lie when he told Hillary "YEs We Can" was his line, not hers and now proposes to make Chavez Day a national Hilday? LOL
And then during one of the later debates he blamed Bush for not demanding employers check worker status. Was that a lie?
Obama said Rezko was not a close personal friend yet Rezko in 2002 gave Obama's good friend money for his cause. Obama says he doesn't know of this "cause", but clearly Woods Fund shows that Khadili collaborated with Cairs whose charter is well know and indictments, arrests and deportations have been public since 2002. Is Oabama lying?
Obama says he never heard the "crazy" things Wright said, but this is clearly a lie. Or is stupidity now a defense for lying? Is it remotely reasonable that Obama had never heard nor read of the various distrubing positions of Wright before recently>
Is it a lie when Obama gets Church newsletters and still says he doesn't know of the rhetoric of his Pastor yet he quoted him in his first book and dedidcated his second book to him?
Is is a lie when Obama says he showed bold leadership in Chicago and made tough votes? Does the record confirm the truth of this?
Is it a lie when Obama denies he is very Liberal by Politico, or are they lying?
Is it a lie when Rice and Obama defend his August paper on Pakistan and say Barak never meant anything more than select Predator strikes based on high-confidence Intel (had already been done by Bush) when he proposed taking our resources from Iraq and putting them in the "battlefield of Pakistan"?
Is it a lie when Obama compares himself to JFK and has little record of meeting any European leaders or military heads in Europe? Is it a lie when Obama says we should return to the traditional foreign policy of Reagan and Bush 1, or is this gibberish meant to confuse the electorate?
I think the definition of lie is rather straightforward, but it seems if you believe in the messenger, then lies are just necessary contradictions needed to get elected.
Lies it seems can all be spun into something else.
Instead, the press likes to focus on Hillary's lies. Three or four of them have been circulating for weeks. One about 9/11 is false, yet they all are rather inconsequential compared with Obama's. Notice I didn't say Hillary never lied. Lying it seems, IS a part of getting elected unfortuately. What we are weighing is the mass of lies such as Obama suggesting the Clintons started the race issue. I believe his wife went on the attack first turning fairy tale into racist attacks. I saw were Obama started his campaign and heard Obama compare his pushing his agenda past the Republicans as "breaking the doors of segregation wide open". Is this not the use of race?
So when many Democrats weigh McCain v Obama, don't simply attack their character. Lies are not good things and when a candidate lies to create a policy picture, hide his past and promote his election, they damage his credibility, judgment and sincerity. Obama started this cycle by suggesting Hillary was a liar. He called her bipartisanism and civility Republican Lite.
Now I know all the Obama supporters justify everything Oabama does and says because of the incredible brilliance and hope Obama will bring to America. His rise is the elevation of Liberal Wisdom and Transcendency. I am talking to those who still have some shred of objectivity,; just enough to know the definiton of a lie. Some woulkd rather blunt this message and have spread lies that I say these things because I'm a Republican (as though that would effect the truth of what I'm saying). Remember, definitions are not partisan. Republicans and Democrats use the same dictionary. Obama has lied. He has lied to far greater an extent than Hillary, because the truth would unravel his campaign. I suggest the lies will unrvel his administration.
Some say, Bush proved lies won't unravel an administration, but these same people have also said the lies have unraveled America's standing in the world. So which is worse? Of all the fund raisers, friends, pastors, advisors, why did Obama pick the ones he did? Jack says because that was what was in the pond called South Side. Then why fish there? It makes little sense and certainly Obama did not distance himself like a person who had serious reservations. Nope, he built a network of the people and then topped it off writing a glorious book about the tough climb accomplished. I don't believe he talked about the compromise of principle he was forced to endure because the South Side was where he found himself.
So what is a lie? What I'm saying? Or has Obama really said things beyond exaggeration? That is why Fact Check below is MIA. It is another spin machine sorely in need of definitons. If the Democratic race serves to unmask the truth, then Democrats have done the nation a great service. Better than later when a President has to convince an entire nation to stand behind him/her
"Democratic National Committee chair Howard Dean came out of hiding last week to announce that there is no reason to rush to resolve the fate of Florida and Michigan. He said he was confident that these delegations, disqualified in 2007 by Dean's own Rules Committee, would be seated at the August convention -- but, apparently, only after a nominee is chosen, which he predicted would occur by July 1. This modern-day Metternich, whose two-fisted handling of this two-state controversy has already had more impact on the 2008 race than his candidacy did on the race in 2004, is promising to mediate the dispute once it's already settled.
What started out years ago as Howard Dean's 50-state organizing strategy for the national party now looks like a 48-state electoral one. Michigan and Florida could become the Ralph Nader of 2000, the great regret that delivers the country once again to four years of darkness."
I haven't been following that issue too closely myself. It seems like a bit of a sideshow.
I also think that in November, the majority of voters in MI and FL will base their decision on who they believe would make the best President - rather than on the actions of the DNC.
(especially since this dispute will seem like ancient history in November....just think how long ago Iowa seems now.)
Here's a question that might have been asked before I found this forum. It speaks to the cartoon KGC linked. Does anyone feel that the media is actually exhibiting their own brand of racism towards Obama by handling him with kid gloves? Isn't it a form of discrimination when they don't hold Obama to the same standards as his white counterparts?
I understand this has been a positive for him during this primary, but isn't it setting him aside as something different?
Warren: LOL You're right. Iowa seems like eons ago. Hopefully we will all rally around the nominee in the fall and all this strife will be a bad memory.
One thing is for sure, it certainly will not be boring. For that, I'm thankful.
I would like to make a comment about the press. My experience is that the press that is reputable (as can be) doesn't usually touch something until its bee properly investigated. When there is absolute proof then they throw the victem to the wolves.
Maybe, just maybe, all that you have seen on the internet....the stuff you seem to want to see on National news hasn't passed the smell test.
So Obama has Wright and Clinton has Bosnia.....looks even to me.
But all the rest is just not passing yet. So when I see "Lies lies lies" its just mob mentality to me.
"The feeling most people get when they hear a Barack Obama speech, I mean, I get, I felt this thrill go up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often."
Let's assume Iranian influence is bad, just for the sake of arguing. The best way most experts believe we can reduce their influence is by building a more secular Iraq. The Kurds think this and many Sunnis, though they were favored Saddam, tend to lean towards the secular. Isn't this what war opponents said about the terror links to Saddam, that he was more secular? That leaves the Shia and they are not wholy religious fanatics. Therefore, the best way to limit Iranian influence in Afghanistan and Iraq is to promote more secular governments. Yes?
And how do we do this? If civil war returns to Iraq, this favors Iran which is why Iran was involved in destabilization both in Iraq and Afghanistan. And if we are to add to the reformation of Islam, how is pulling back the right signal to other Sunnis in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and even Pakistan and Yemen, Egypt and the Gulf NOT to pursue WMD and terrorism as a guard against Iran?
While it is easy to blast Bush and hope things fall apart for election goals, the sane policy is to improve our position and from a healthy level of strength, negotiate. If Iran stopped their nuclear program (that's debatable) it was because we were very close and sanctions were imposed. Opposing sanctions and retreating would seem to run counter to the NIE Report.
Democrats had it right back in 2004. Reform the policy, weed out the incompetence, make it more transparent. One cannot say that in this regard Hillary and Obama are the same. One implies a centrist poisition and one advocates retreat except for our real enemy OBL, who we all know is hardly the only terrorist out there. The NYT once advocated hundreds of thousand more troops to Iraq. Their spin on Sadr now, is separated from discussion of the end game. No Iraqi army a year ago. A better one now. It won't be a hundred years and that is why Sadr has been bitching for months. He sees where Iraq is going and doesn't like his chances some years out. Sure, Iran has influence, but every day Iraqis creep towards a more secular place, Iran's influence lessens.
Another example. Bush would not bend on missile defense in Europe nor would Europeans stop bitching about Russia. Toether we might actually reach some strategic agreement with Russia who we are pushing to pressure Iran. That is more of the traditional approach. Bush tried doing this with NK. The idea of turning the page and burying all that is Republican is not centrist thinking. Bury what Bush did wrong and elevate serious reforms Democrats push. In this regard, Hillary is the only one pushing. Richardson wanted the Gucci goverment of Pkaistan to act unfettered by Musharraf. Let's see the deals they make with militants. It just ain't that simple and those who think it is, are lying or foolishly kidding themselves. How long will Obama wait before he starts bobming Pakistan? At what point does he re-enter Iraq to go after AQ or militants? What does he offer Lebanon? What beyond talk and capitulation does he propose on Iraq? Just more US troops to Afghanistan. I would love to know, without the bullshit that is.
Most of those cartoons are hilarious even some of the anti Hillary ones. A few are a little too close to the edge, but that's editorial cartoons for you ... some work and some don't.
The Walk On Water is great and very, very true.
The one of God thundering (OBAMA) and hillary saying "Oh Shut UP!" is cute.
Max, I'm done with homework assignments for a while,
What's you're point with the 12 or so lies you say committed by Obama? If I took the time, I'm sure i could add to your list of Hillary lies. But why, I have my opinion of the two and I don't think anything you have to say is going to change my mind.
But, as an example, Obama didn't vote for the Kyl bill for the reason he stated, which you say is a lie. As it turns out he's said he would have voted against it, so you know his stance, and the vote was lopsided anyway so his vote would not have mattered. What's the big deal here.
I might take you up on that. I'm not far from Time Warner building.
Thanks for the offer. I'm sure you'll see I'm a head shaven Liberal acentrist and I'll see your not sporting tatoos of Chomsky on your forehead..LOL
Maybe you me and Wendy should have brunch at Florent sometime before I pack up and move to the hills where I can have a dog and not pay forty bucks every time I shop.
I didn't see it but Jay Carney of Time appearing on David Gregory's show just said Obama bowling = Dukakis tank.
Comedy News Show TV Buzz CNN Headline News attempts comedy with a show called Not Just Another Cable News Show, premiering April 5. The first show mocks Al Gore for being a stiff.
What passes for political journalism is this country is a joke. The media painted Gore and Kerry as not manily enough to be president. The bowling story was a perfect excuse to start the same theme on Obama.
Democrats are either gay or metrosexual and only Republicans are man enough to be president.
People are foolish when they give any credibility to a media that specializes in gotcha stories and making themselves the story and not just reporting the facts or giving informed opinion.
"—perhaps the most relentlessly propagandized prime-time “news network” in cable’s short history. He goes on the air and smiles and smiles—and hands you his network’s propaganda. You might call it “the banality of banality.” Robinson comes on the air and smiles as he and his colleagues deceive you.
—and we think the network’s gruesome MO points the way to a troubling future. For the past six months, corporate-hired multimillionaires have relentlessly played you in this manner."
Oh, I think there are both big differences and differences in quantity Rezdog.
Why did he lie about why he didn't vote on the Kyl bill? He made such a big thing about Hillary's vote. NIE said sanctions work and Quds is in Africa, Caracas, Lebanon and Iraq. If preventing war is the game, why not pressure Iran to stop enriching uranium and spreading their terrorist support via Quds? Obama wants to make Bush a bigger problem than our enemies which is why he hardly mentions anyone except OBL which he cannot get.
My point would be that the blatant lie by Obama on an important vote was never really covered while Hillary's Bosnia visit claim is still going on. You say it was an unimportant lie, but I say Obama could care less. He was busy at the time drumming up his more Liberal supporters who saw only NEOCONism in the bill. And remember, this was during the time Iran was supplying advanced IEDs that were killing our troops and after the Brits had already exchanged fire with Iranians.
Please list the lies Hillary has uttered that go straight to hiding her foreign policy position or the ideology of the friends she keeps. While Obama was getting money for AAAN, Hillary was funding our troops in Afghanistan.
THE GREY LADY’S OWN BRITNEY SPEARS: Maureen Dowd is emotionally and morally ill, a point she makes clear once again in today’s sad column.
Let’s start, once again, with her sick, endless need to “feminize” Barack Obama.
Not that there’s anything new about this. It has now been almost nine years since Dowd told the world that “Al Gore is so feminized...he’s practically lactating.” (That was June 16, 1999—the day of Gore’s formal announcement.) It has been almost five years since she helped dub John Edwards “the Breck Girl.” (June 8, 2003. After that, she called him “the Breck Girl” in five other columns.) It has been almost a year since she wrote a column headlined, “Obama, Legally Blonde?” (February 14, 2007. One week later, he was “Scarlett O’Hara.”) And of course, she has kicked the stuffing out of endless Dem wives, for the nastiest, stupidest reasons you could conjure. In Dowd’s world, Major Dem Men are constantly girls—and Major Dem Women are most often men. Michelle Obama is a she-bitch, of course, a key point Dowd first made just last year.
So it’s no surprise—to see Dowd back on the Bambi beat as she writes about Obama. In today’s column, she describes “Obambi” as a “diffident debutante,” then turns to this standard inanity: http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh020608.shtml
KGC, and what about LIL BUSH on Comedy Central. You have infantile Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld and Cheney barfing in each other's faces while Bush and his mom have pudding holes in their stomachs so they can keep re-eating their food. What do you call that? It is rather ugly, don't you think? No one ever questioned Bill's manliness and frankly, I would pick both Kerry's and Obama's wives in a fight with their spouses. I would pay to see Rosie go after Michelle in ultimate fighting. And speaking of South Park....
I like Colbert's approach, but South Park is the fairest of all. Their latest was hilarious. I wonder when they'll take a stab at Obama.
(2/8/06): The Republicans succeed because they keep it simple, ruthless and mythic. In 2000 and 2004, G.O.P. gunslingers played into the Western myth and mined images of manliness, feminizing Al Gore as a Beta Tree-Hugger, John Kerry as a Waffling War Wimp With a Hectoring Wife and John Edwards as his true bride, the Breck Girl.
Now, in the distaff version of Swift-boating, they are casting Hillary Clinton as an Angry Woman, a she-monster melding images of Medea, the Furies, harpies, a knife-wielding Glenn Close in ‘’Fatal Attraction'’ and a snarling Scarlett Johansson in ‘’Match Point.'’
Not enough meat. GO ahead Shelia, refute the lies. And maybe begin with a real definition of lie.
After all the meat, you want more? LOL As I said, Obama is just so wonderful and brillinat why waste time on the meat. Let's go straight to the dessert.
No, I'm a meat and potato kind of guy. The napkin is quite unimportant.
Lil Bush is not must see tv but once or twice and some of it is pretty funny. Of course it's on the comedy channel and not pretending to be news. I guess if you thought Shrub had a shred of decency you might find some of it offensive. I haven't had that problem.
Bill Clinton is getting rave reviews in the Oregon press for his 4 appearances this week.
In the Salem event, he spoke for 70 minutes detailing why HIllary is the best choice for President. Excellent...
I took my Hillary signs to Portland and spent a couple of hours in front of the Clear Channel Studio. It is home to local right wing radio and Air - Obama (America).
Several people stopped by..lots of people walk in Portland..and we had good discussions. Two people brought up their anger at Obama and Colonel McPeak
for the Joe McCarthy comments in Medford. This is a big deal here. In his appearances President Clinton
mentioned McPeak briefly. Strong response from audience..
One person didn't inow much about the Air America station. I told him to go home, turn on 620 and that within 5 minutes Ed Schultz would say something derogatory about Hillary.
The gentleman came back about 20 minutes and said Shultz made a series of insulting comments immediately.
KGC, you answered your own question. You are upset that Democrats are spun a certain way and then call Lil Bush a reality show. In that exchange the Democrats do much better. And I did see Obama's wedding picture.
As long as Hitler equals Bush, expect to take incoming. Politics is rough stuff and once Bill got mad and floored Morris. Good for him. No, I don't think Cheney biting the heads of birds and sucking out their insides is very funny. And the characterizations about Kerry came from the Far Left as well.
That you don't see anything insulting in Lil Bush, is quite amazing. Bad humor, mindless stories and few laughs. Maybe that is why you say its a reality program, eh? Tek 7 is far more entertaining, don't you think?
Max
You are wrong. Lil Bush is on the Comedy Channel and not pretending to be anything but satire, I was talking about things on the news. Big difference.
The Daily Show makes fun of the news and news organizations also on the comedy channel. It is sad and pathetic they are a more reliable picture of the state of politics then the socalled journalists.
And you clearly have no sense of humor so pretty much any comment from you about comedy is kind of silly.
But since I see the circles in the sand, I believe most of your posting is moot to me. I am satisifed with my ideas of both candidates and my opinion of both is a far cry more positive than yours.
You are a "Danger Will Robinson" type and you see ghosts where there are none. But of course, that is your right too.
I rarely cut Sen O any slack, but that whole exchange was just plain silly. One called him "dainty" and then another echoed the "dainty" remark. The whole thing wasn't that far from casting him in the chorus line of La Cage aux Faux
What is the title for Craig's next book? "Don't Attack The Messenger....I'm Only The Piano Player"? Also , does Craig have a brother named George and does he wish he was here? LOL!
Hillary's bowling challenge was funny..Obama should respond by challenging her to basketball. I think I've seen pictures of him playing in high school.
It is ridiculous and they have been doing for days. It's the story of the week. Media Matters did a report on the Scarborough Giest dance and Tweety was even silly and said Obama should stick to basketball and wondered of that was an "ethnic" remark. He might be the biggest idiot employed at nbc although the choices are plenty.
I think most people can empathize or empathyze with someone being horrible and some athletic activity. I took bowling for credit in college and I'm not much better than Senator O..
Chaplin figured out that a lot of money could be saved by writing your own scores.......even wound up writing a nice ditty here and there........"Smile" being one.......
Henry Ford once awarded a car parts contract and specified the exact size of the shipping crates for them and how the crates were to be constructed.......when the parts arrived he dis-assembled the crates and they became the floorboards for his cars.......
Here is a Scorsese documentary with an Eastwood narration about the piano. I don't know if he still owns it, but he had a club/piano bar/restaurant in Carmel. The man really loves both jazz and piano
Nancy...great post on Sarah! She is just amazing. You watch her on tape, and you realize how she used the physical structure of her entire head -- her teeth, her lips, her tongue, and even her jaw -- as part of the musical instrument that was her miraculous voice.
And all that stuff came downstream from the diaphragm, lungs and vocal chords --- which were even more miraculous, if that is even possible.
Oh...and I didn't even mention her brain or her heart -- which is where the music all began.
they have no TV's in the rooms.......the furniture is all antique......every room a balcony with mountain overlook.......one of those priceless places of the US
Craig--Finally worked my way back to your video on military matters. Well done.
McCain. Damned shame. Is brutalized by our country's enemy, he keeps the faith, and then is brutalized by his own party. Still, he holds faith.
That shows either incredible stupidity or incredible patriotic fortitude in fixing on what America can be rather than what it is.
I distill all the things I've heard him say about The War to this--since we're there we have little real long-term choice but to finish what we've started. Who knows, he may well be right.
flatus....to me it shows the irrational mindset which happens to some in old age.......a hardening of the old farteries.......he's not right......when he held faith after SC 2000 that was a sign of nothing but sheer WANT......I WANT to matter......I WANT to be what they took from me......if he was going to accept what Karl Rove did to him he should have taken his lot and worked for the honest good of america......instead he just schemed and finagled to do what it took to become this fictional vindication: President......he's a lost soul.
"I would find this Democratic mess hilarious, wouldn't I? "
You know, this "mess" is the MI and FL vote, not the continuing Obama/Clinton debate. Two things will cost Obama the election if he isthe nomine: Rev. Wright (whether warranted or not) and Howard Dean not being able to negotiate the MI and FL situation.

You are in rare form tonight. Thanks. Loved the Jazz.
Ella & Satchmo is beyond compare.
You posted about a week ago , "devil woman," by Marty Robbins. Well right below that was his recording of "Don't worry about me" one of his best. It is one of those songs that stays on your mind, morning noon and night No sure where to thank you or fuss at you for that one.. Still one my mind..
Jack & Julie -- Marty Robbins....unbelievable voice. And those songs....you're right about both "Devil Woman" and "Don't Worry 'Bout Me" -- I'm biased, but I believe the greatest of all songs have come from the country side of the business.
Case in point: Sunday Morning Coming Down.
"Then I crossed the empty street,
'n caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken.
And it took me back to somethin',
That I'd lost somehow, somewhere along the way.
On the Sunday morning sidewalk,
Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday,
Makes a body feel alone."
You are right that is one good song. I have heard it said more than once, that second line about the -smell of someone frying chicken- was very unusual in a song.
It reminds me of the summer when the city empties out and all people to lake or mountains. City is quiet and lonely...
Kris is a hell of a song writer.
I love the lyrics on that song but it is a pain in the ass to sing and make it sound right for me any way.
lol I guess I'll never be a Johnny Cash, even in the shower.
"It reminds me of the summer when the city empties out and all people to lake or mountains. City is quiet and lonely..."
Yes....when my kids and I first moved to Nashville in 1983, we loved driving around on Music Row on Sunday mornings...empty...and you could almost see Kris wandering through the streets...
...and when I first heard that line "Sunday smell of someone frying chicken" I remember thinking, Oh my God! Right to the heart of America....
One other funny thing from when I moved South -- from Denver. We were at a little music business meat & three dive called "Mack's Cafe -- Beans, Greens & Cornbread" -- the waitress asked my 8 year old son if he wanted grits. He said, "What's a grit?"
She said, "Hon, if you don't know, you don't want 'em."
Of course the very best is still Patsy Cline. That woman could sure belt a song. And it is surprizing that even people who do not particularly like country music like Patsy Cline. And she is still on a lot of juke boxes even after all this time..
An admirer of my daughters sang "Crazy" to her one morning at a breakfast table when we were in Florida. He thought it was easy to sing and did a fair job.. Made me feel really old and useless to hear a guy sing to my daughter. hmm
Julie
How is the Meeks story now up un dutch press and do not see it everywhere else in the states? Couldn´t get it. Seems another controversy with regards to gay bashing from Obama supporter and spiritual adviser Meeks.
Anyone know?
"Just how many "spiritual advisers" does Obama supposedly have, according to the folks who are faulting him for his relationship with Meeks?? I thought Wright was Obama's "spiritual adviser. From the article, I read that Obama went to a service at Meeks' church "to say thank you" for his support and "for prayer." Does this constitute "spiritual advice??" And does attending this service make Meeks Obama's "spiritual adviser??" Seems rather a stretch to make such an assumption from that one statement. I'm thinking that since the Wright controversy has cooled and most people have concluded that it isn't the huge deal the cons were trying to make it,-- they now have to come up with another controversial person related to Obama's campaign and try to see how far they can go with this one. Maybe THIS will be the controversy that sparks enough outrage to derail the Obama campaign!! The little moles are working overtime!!"
Are these guys drinking from a different tap than you, what gives?
Barack Obama gets former Rep. Lee Hamilton's endorsement
“I read his national security and foreign policy speeches," Hamilton told Bloomberg News today, "and he comes across to me as pragmatic, visionary and tough. He impresses me as a person who wants to use all the tools of presidential power.”
Josh Shapiro, the deputy speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, drafted an open letter to the state’s Jewish community on behalf of Mr. Obama, the candidate who boasts what Mr. Shapiro calls a “100 percent voting record on Israel issues.”
Jason..I don't know anything about the Meeks story..
Their was a wonderful column by Steve Duin in the Oregonian newspaper about Bill Clinton in Oregon.
It can probably be fou8nd at oregonlive.com..they have a section for columnists.
It must be great being in Holland. I have a close friend whose parents are from Holland. In my final year of teadhing high school, Ihad a great student from Holland. such an open society..I envy your opportunity to spend time there..
Jason.if you go to hillaryclinton.com, you will find a wonderful essay by Maya Angelou about Hillary..Please check it out..wonderful..

Totally Cute Craig lololol
From the last thread.
Thanks Heather. I appreciate your opinion.
OK, Off the slime stump!.......Ouch..... ;0)

And meanwhile on the Iran War Front.
Saudi Newspaper Warns of Nuclear Fallout
"the last time Cheney visited the nations he visited this time was right before the Iraq attack,"

btw, TX is a classic example of why the dem nominating process has to be reformed.

Renee,
I've been waiting for you.

Craig,
As a fellow keyboardist, I notice that your piano sounds a tad out of tune, but perhaps that was recording distortion.

Go Helen!

Obama's church founded on radical creed
"The church where Sen. Barack Obama has worshipped for two decades publicly declares that its ministry is founded on a 1960s book that espouses "the destruction of the white enemy."
Trinity United Church of Christ's Web site says its teachings are based on the black liberation theology of James H. Cone and his 1969 book "Black Theology and Black Power."
"What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love," Mr. Cone wrote in the book."

Pogo,
Count me as loving the south.

They will be listening more carefully.

Great video trailmix and a sponsor too!

Jack,
Regarding your gas station experience:
I know my line is getting old, but I keep using it anyway. Telling other people at the gas pump, I'm amazed at how my gas tank keeps growing. It must have grown, because when I bought the car, I couldn't even fit $25 worth of gas in it, and now there's still room after $40.

The MSM loves McCain because he gives them access: lots of sound bites and quotes they can use.
The fact that it's all BS doesn't matter.
They still portray him as a "maverick" even though he's had his nose attached to Bush's butt since 2000.
And they want us to believe that he could win the general election. (Really. He could. Trust us on this one.)

Much more at:
http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/12745.htm

She will not give up the power the Executive Branch has been given by the Nazi Legislatures along with some Enabling Democrats.

Man those arches were heavy.......Lunch break....

Hi Wendy . . . Love them polls!

"Embellishment: make an account or description more interesting by inventing or exaggerating details. But the bedrock events are true.
A lie: to make an account or description more interesting by inventing or exaggerating details. This is nothing short of a falsehood. A fabrication of the truth for the purpose to deceive."

She might have lived farther out of town, and gone to one of the county schools. But if she's 56-ish, we're pretty close in age. I'm 59.

GAKaren: that is SO not true.

And we are all affected.

Here's a question that might have been asked before I found this forum. It speaks to the cartoon KGC linked. Does anyone feel that the media is actually exhibiting their own brand of racism towards Obama by handling him with kid gloves? Jack,
Let's assume Iranian influence is bad, just for the sake of arguing.

But, as an example, Obama didn't vote for the Kyl bill for the reason he stated, which you say is a lie. As it turns out he's said he would have voted against it, so you know his stance, and the vote was lopsided anyway so his vote would not have mattered. What's the big deal here.

In today’s column, she describes “Obambi” as a “diffident debutante,” then turns to this standard inanity:

You have infantile Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld and Cheney barfing in each other's faces while Bush and his mom have pudding holes in their stomachs so they can keep re-eating their food. What do you call that? It is rather ugly, don't you think? No one ever questioned Bill's manliness and frankly, I would pick both Kerry's and Obama's wives in a fight with their spouses.

After all the meat, you want more? LOL As I said, Obama is just so wonderful and brillinat why waste time on the meat. Let's go straight to the dessert.

Posted by: Oregon Democrat | April 1, 2008 7:05 PM
Posted by: Maxtrue | April 1, 2008 7:06 PM

Made me feel really old and useless to hear a guy sing to my daughter. hmm

I just picked this up from a blog in Chicago.
