This morning, when I opened my mail, there was a message forwarded from my good friend George Z Bush, a three war veteran in his mid-80s who was just elected to his town council in coastal North Carolina.
I think George's email is instructive and has a connection to what we are now seeing in the primaries. Without further ado, here is what he sent me:
"Mrs. Davidson's dishwasher quit working. She called a repairman but he wasn't able accommodate her with an evening appointment.
Since she had to go to work the next day, she told him, "I'll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter and I'll mail you the check. By the way, don't worry about my Doberman. He won't bother you. But, whatever you do, ...do NOT under any circumstances talk to my parrot!"
When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Davidson's apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Doberman he had ever seen.
But just as she had said, the dog just lay there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time he was there, the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant yelling, cursing, and name-calling.
Finally the repairman couldn't contain himself any longer and yelled, "Shut up, you stupid ugly bird!" To which the parrot replied, "Get him, Spike!""
Well it looks like the Nazi's in the White House won't have any safe haven to hide out in very soon.
Der Fuhrer Adolph Bush bought property in Paraguay which is famous for allowing Criminals and Nazi's hide out in as they have no extradition treaty with us or many other countries.
* The Cuban news service reports that George W. Bush has purchased 98,840 acres in Paraguay, near the Bolivian/Brazilian border.
* Jenna Bush paid a secret diplomatic visit to Paraguayan President Nicanor Duarte and U.S. Ambassador James Cason. There were no press conferences, no public sightings and no official confirmation of her 10-day trip which apparently ended this week.
* The Paraguayan Senate voted last summer to “grant U.S. troops immunity from national and International Criminal Court (ICC) jurisdiction.”
* Immediately afterwards, 500 heavily armed U.S. troops arrived with various planes, choppers and land vehicles at Mariscal Estigarribia air base, which happens to be at the northern tip of Paraguay near the Bolivian/Brazilian border. More have reportedly arrived since then...
Actually, AP, the old practice followed by most South American countries of granting amnesty to dictators of neighboring countries went a long way in minimizing the bloodshed that would have occurred in violent changes of government.
(1) Too much analysis of polls and not enough thought about the significance of the HUGE crowds Obama attracts.
(2) Craig defends Stephanopoulos & Gibson for their wretched debate saying, "they were just doing their jobs." Voters want to hear about substantive issues not flag pins, no matter what the MSM mindset is.
(3) Rove's Marxian comments. Republicans are afraid of Obama so Rove is trying to help Clinton win the primary.
Clinton on Olbermann tonight. That should be interesting. He has turned into such an ass about her campaign, I wonder if he will keep it up to her face.
BlueinDallas: Yes, Craig needs to get on MOJO immediately. Schuster's talking points fell flat this morning and Joe was more than a little dismissive. Ouch.
Jamie: Frankly I was surprised to see her going on KO. On the other hand, you have to give her credit for at least attempting to make inroads with the voters she doesn't have.
Hillary over the weekend: "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. And I'm comfortable in the kitchen."
Ah, those tricky Clintons, so clever with words. Notice that she doesn't actually say that she COOKS anything. When she says she is "comfortable in the kitchen" she means she likes to go there and watch the SERVANTS work.
Fact: Since Bill became governor, they have had servants. She probably hasn't boiled an egg since the 1980s.
Nash-The kitchen comments are a metaphor. Do you think HST boiled eggs? Do you think Obama Cooks? My , the Obamas are getting agitated anticipating tomorrows results. What is up with taking a shot at HRC not boiling eggs? Is that all you got?
I imagine that Hillary will be very well prepared for what every nasty things KO will throw at her. I have a feeling she will be very "presidential" with humor, as that show really isn't prim and proper, but more of a joke.
Jamie & Flatus, Can't you still hear KO's ridiculous rant about Ferraro? What an ass he made out of himself. I guess he is trying to keep his job not DO his job.
AP, the dictator that comes to mind when I think about Paraguay is Alfredo Stroessner.
He of course was an active participant in accepting exiled dictators and he benefited from that practice when it was his turn to be ousted.
Stroessner on, I think it might have been Wednesdays, used to hold 'court' for any citizen who wanted to petition the government. That populist touch was appreciated.
And, of course, there was the Peron exile to Spain and Baby Doc's to France, etc.
Serious question. Why is it necessary to take pot shots at Sen Clinton for no reason whatsoever? Has she every personally injured you, your family, or the country that you find it necessary to be so hateful?
Can just see Bill off to the side of the set, watching every single word spoken, secret service swarming. KO will be on his best behavior, if not, the network will feel the wrath one more time.
My point was that Hillary's "kitchen" comment needs to be parsed, like everything the Clintons say. And yes, I think both of the Obamas cook. They haven't reached the lofty heights of the super-rich Clintons.
For goodness sake, CHELSEA probably has servants. The Clintons don't want the rednecks in western PA to know all this and, of course, the MSM never talks about it either.
But why not? It's at least as important as flag pins.
If you, and your candidate can't stand the heat...etc.
I started going negative on Hill/Bill when they and their surrogates started uttering racist code words after losing S.C.
You know, the racist code words that you and the other Hillary supporters can't seem to hear.
YOUR CANDIDATE'S STRATEGY SINCE IOWA HAS BEEN: SWIFTBOATING.
So stop whining. Grow up. You need to get these issues out in the open now, so they won't come up in the general. (OK. I've run out of rationalizations.)
The point is that you don't know. It is just saying mean things to be mean with no other purpose. I can say that Obama seemed snarky to me with his "brush off" comment, but that was a specific action that bothered me.
You could say that a wealthy politician talking about cooking seemed rather corny and forced, but why attack her as a human being?
As to the Obama's living conditions, when not compaigning they both have high powered jobs, are millionaires and have two children in private school. Chances are there is at least a nanny in that configuration somewhere just to make all the schlepping around work.
*chuckle*
Do you expect a truthful answer to that question?
The truth would be he does it because he has nothing of substance to offer. But Nash is not searching for truth or substance. like any 13 yr old adolescent, he is just searching for attention.
I really don't get it - how can people in a national survey change their minds to the tune of 10% or so in 6 days? Crappy answers in the debate? Maybe, but I don't think that would be enough - particularly since the slide was a 1-2% per day drop. I suppose the patina just isn't holding up so well with Obama getting the same or similar treatment the press has reserved for Clinton for the past 3 months.
Mika was particulary nitwitty this morning - somehow thinking that tossing down boilermakers is just too contrived, while apparently bowling, while wearing a tie and dress shirt isn't. Even Joe was mocking her this morning. It appeared to me at least that Hillary knew what she was doing in that bar. And was it contrived? You bet - just like every other campaign appearance either candidate has made.
Keeping an eye on the market - I don't expect things to look as peachy this week as they did last. Bank of America's report today is getting the week off to a bad start. - profits were about half what analysts thought they would be and oil just went over $117.
Amazing how the Obama supporters get ABLAZE ... have to laugh at this.
Calm down people....We know you are getting nervous, like your leader....We know, but clam down...take a beer, I mean a sip..
You know,
I watched a program a week ago, I was on a business trip in Frankfurt. The program was about how and when the campaign turned negative.
They went back to September 2007.... Amazing!
Anyway,
15+ for HRC tomorrow
Mark My Words.......
The start of the turnback has begun of March 4th. If PA was a week after that we would be singing a whole different tune now. Unfortunately we had to wait for six weeks. Nevertheless we are almost here. Gear up HRC gang, we getting there
As I noted earlier, just go to Huffingtonpost.com for a whole bunch of anti-Hillary critiques. There you will find the "Democratic wing" of the Democratic party.
I'm not sure what the Clintons are, but they sure as hell aren't Democrats.
Jack, I don't think nash is as you think he is. He's like many of the posters here, intelligent, in the tank for a candidate, and willing to go snarky at the drop of a hat.
As I said earlier, I will hold discontinue the ban with Larry King and watch his program, seen as HRC will be there. After tonight the ban will continue.....
You are right. I haven't heard any racist CODE words. I've heard analysis when race has had an effect or been an issue in the campaign, but nothing negative thrown at Sen. Obama because of his race.
What is wrong with saying that people who share his racial heritage are proud of him and have tended to vote as a block. Women have done the same for Hillary if not in as great a percentage.
Or I can say that race gave him an opening at national office that might not have existed for another six to ten years otherwise. Is there something you object to about that?
Swiftboating. There has been some far right garbage with the whole Muslim, flag pin, pledge blah blah but that didn't come from the Clinton campaign. There are some questions about Wright and Rezko (not Ayers) that I consider legitimate areas to question, but so far I haven't seen anything more than questions, and Sen. Obama has answered those with saying his judgement might have been poor (Rezko) or response not been strong enough (Wright)
It seems to me that the media is making a negative climate with the constant repetition of single remarks and that it is the 24 hour noise machine more than any actual actions on both sides.
Pay no attention to the sputtering sounds that come from Nash. He is just a little Piper Cub that ran out of actual fuel on this blog several weeks back, and had to make an emergency landing on the Adolescent Humor airstrip.
Late voters have broke for Hillary in 20 of 27 contests where exit polling data is available. On average she wins about 50% of those to O's 43%. Criag had it right...so if she keeps that up...she should do very well.
I seem to remember some of those more unreliable polls saying RI had closed to within a couple of points and she blew him out by 18%
ARG has her at 13% as of yesterday and Suffolk @ 10% (also been pretty reliable) other polls show movement in her direction over the weekend:
"Polls Show Possible Movement To Clinton In Pennsylvania"
I'm thinking SurveyUSA might release today...they'll be a pretty good indicator.
O' supporters should just prepare themselves for a bad night and a long week of everyone saying Obama's poor performance, whining after the debate and bitter comments being his downfall in PA.
"'m not sure what the Clintons are, but they sure as hell aren't Democrats."
The Clintons are Democrats. The Huffington, Kos etc group are the old Socialist/Progressive wing of the party that has existed since at least the 1920s with some strains going back to before the turn of the last century. They have never held the Presidency, darn few Senate seats and not all that many places in the House. Their purpose has always been to nag and push the bulk of the party into taking certain positions (work laws, unions, social security etc.).
As with any extreme wing whether the right or left, they tend to crash and burn after a few years of being effective.
I'll modify and say it'll be 10% like OH. Going purly off the fact that when everyone else had NH wrong Suffolk is the only poll that got it right. Let's hope this isn't one of those that SurveyUSA hits on the head.
Yes, I'll admit 10% doesn't make me happy. I hope she surprises us.
OK...I take it all back - tomorrow will be more of a nail biter than we think and let's keep our fingers crossed that she picks up her 50% of last minute voters like always to at least push her to that 10% + mark.
Since Obama has outspent Hillary $8.6 million to $3.6 million on advertising, flooding the PA market with his ads(11,788 to 4,955) as of April 17 (NYT) it would seem that Obama must win outright to establish his claims that he is the one who can win in November.
Anything less than a win by Obama, suggests a serious flaw in his campaign rhetoric.
While his media contingent is doing its best to put this on Hillary to win a huge victory & that as long as Obama reduces her margin of victory to less than (pick any # you want) he is the real winner,---if he can not win PA straight up , then the Dem. party has a real problem in November.
I'm not "ablaze." I'm just pointing out one more inconvenient truth. Hillary hasn't been in a kitchen for decades except to make sure that the "help" weren't stealing the silverware.
None of you has addressed the substance of my remarks, just fired off a bunch of random personal insults. Gee. I wonder where you learned to do that?
I don't mind the attacks; I just wish they were funnier. Isn't there at least one Oscar Wilde in Hillary's camp?
"I'm not sure what the Clintons are, but they sure as hell aren't Democrats."
Good...since I think the Democratic party has lost its collective mind...I'm glad to hear this...whatever they are...I want to be...cuz I don't want to be part of the joke they call the Democratic Party anymore.
I enjoyed your interview on C-Span far better than other communication venues because it is extremely polite and allow you a generous amount of time to make your point, so its a worth while investment of time.
I hadn't planned to post here but Craig the Obama supporters are the extreme radical embarrassing part of the democratic party. They are rude, obnoxious, belligerent, and most importantly politically ignorant. They do not deal in facts, rather they deal in distortion, canards, intimidation of more centrist enlightened elements of the Democratic party.
What I want to do is encourage the centrist part of our party especially those that support Hillary to stand up and take control of our party "GET OUR PARTY BACK!"
Hillary did not have it exactly right, there is a conspiracy, a vast left wing conspiracy that if not stopped will destroy the Democratic party. You think they are not racist because they back Obama...Ha! Guess again! There is a story unfolding that during Harold Ford Jr's campaign for the Senate some of Coker's 527's were paid for by none other than a very left wing radical political organization. Do not trust these radical left wingers, do not buy into this garbage that Obama will reach across the aisle, that will hardly be the case.
The radical left wants to perform a bloody coup of the DLC wing of the Democratic party, they did it with Harold Ford Jr. now they want to do it with Hillary, Wake up before its too late do not allow these radical people to destroy the Democratic party
They are called right wing Republicans which seems to be where all of the Obama folks are getting their ammunition. You have to wonder why they want to stop her so badly that they are willing to unite. Are the Obama folks secret Freepers? :-)
nash, huffpo has been probama and anti hillary for months. You know it, I know it, we all know it. Anytime I want to find columns that are anti Hillary, I can go there. I swore off the site in February because of the editorial bias there that mirrored Arianna's rabid probama views. There you find the Huffington wing of the democratic party - I can remember when you could find the Huffington wing of the Republican party, which was buitl on an antiClinton bias stated loud and often on every frickin' was before there was a Huffington Post, and it wasn't so many years ago. I wouldn't b e so smug about her as the defining standard for democrats.
And Bill and Hillary may not be far enough left for you, but they are decidedly Democrats.
The notoriously progressive, left wing Bloomberg.com on why Hillary can't win. (Unless she can capture the ring of power before Frodo throws it in Mount Doom.)
I thought the insight Craig shared re: Karl Rove starting to paint Obama as a "socialist" or "marxist" was very interesting. Of course I was rather amused as well. After living 10 years in Mainland Europe, I can tell you that socialists are very active in the coalition governments in most of the countries I know about. Here is Belgium, the split is between parties and also linguistic divide. The Flemish socialists have refused to join in coalition with the Christian Democrats, but the French socialists did join to push their agenda especially for their region.
Anyway, it's because of the socialists being a force in Belgium so long that we have such strong social security, health care, nearly 1 month vacation for everyone along with a 13th month salary. Oh, as a business owner I don't get as much social security and I don't get paid vacations or a 13th month salary.
But, interesting how different the viewpoints are in American culture compared to European nations. Sales taxes and income taxes are HIGH, but more people live with a comfortable financial standard.
You have to get a kick out of Ariana. She will go wherever the money is even if it means a swing from right to left that would give most people incurable motion sickness.
Perfect example of political ignorance...when Obama supporters are so intellectually lazy they resort to lame websites to support they flawed candidate. Obviously the process of thought and knowledge is a foreign concept for them ♪♪la la la la♪♪
Are the new poll numbers now really going to show what is happening in PA. Are they trying to do a little damage control here so they look good on Wednesday. After spending tons of money in PA and lose what message does this send?
I woke up to find six Amish boys/men ? in my neighbor yard. They are building an addition - Reminded me of that movie "The Witness"
"The Amish do not educate their children past the eighth grade, believing that the basic knowledge offered up to that point is sufficient to prepare one for the Amish lifestyle."
Like Obama hasn't used catch phrases LOL! "embittered" "cling to guns and religion"
Hillary has more guts, at least she says it in the open straight out, she doesn't act like a sissy and does it in stealth to a San Francisco crowd.
Jamie said "Are the Obama folks secret Freepers? :-)"
I am not a Freeper. The same could be said for your side Jamie with all the people that have said it is my girl or I either don't vote or will vote for McCain. I will vote for either candidate because I am a Democrat and I believe it most important that we elect a Democrat after 8 years of Repub slash and burn to this country.
AP, that might explain today's price to a point - the possibility of supply disruption can cause nervous futures traders to pay more - if we see more of this, I expect it will have an impact. But yesterday's price was only about a buck less, and no tanker had been attacked. Oil has been on a steady rise from $99 a barrel on March 28, and gasoline prices jumped more than 30 cents per gallon last week, before any tanker attack. I think Krugman's article today does a better job of explaining the pressures on oil than does a single attack on a tanker.
The Amish give their children what used to be the common eighth grade standard. That is darn close to second year college for most students now except that the math and science tends to be more basic and the history somewhat outdated.
One of my grandfathers only had formal schooling until the fifth grade. He was a great reader and something of a math whiz when it involved the basics of add, subtract, divide and multiply. When his children were bringing home algebra problems, he would tell them, "I'll tell you the answer but you will have to put in the X, Ys, and Zs on your own."
Vadaryl
The SD´s said that they are in no rush....
That should say enough.
After spending nearly 10Million, he still is incapable of wining? Come on.
He even brought the Kennedy´s to town. On the other hand I don´t know if it is a advantage, I mean look at CA and Ma. LMPO
He knows, he needs to deliver. Some SD´s are going to flock to HRC is he loses this one in double digits. If she wins in single, they will wait....But if she wins in DD the moving will start
You aren't in the group that I was speaking of. You are far to sane, kind, and thoughtful with actual reasons for supporting your candidate without attacking Sen. Clinton as a human being. That is way different than the virulant attacks from the wild eyed Huffington types.
"I hadn't planned to post here but Craig the Obama supporters are the extreme radical embarrassing part of the democratic party. They are rude, obnoxious, belligerent, and most importantly politically ignorant. They do not deal in facts, rather they deal in distortion, canards, intimidation of more centrist enlightened elements of the Democratic party."
Well we now know that Heather thinks the 90% of AA's who are voting for Obama are the radical embarrassing part of the Democratic Party.
I'm sure that they'll appreciate your thoughts if Hillary becomes the nominee. Do you think that if they feel all of Hillary's supporters feel like you do that they will vote for her?
I guess we will have to see if she gets the nomination if they will stay home or vote for Nader or McCain.
On the price of oil, there is a commercial running now about how they have fuel for 160 million (or something like that) for the next 60 years. Sounds like a lot until you say there are over 300 million people in the U.S., alone, almost 7 billion worldwide, and the earth's population even with population controls is increasing at a rate that will put us at 9 billion by 2025.
Right now there are twice as many people on earth as there were when I was born. Anybody getting hungry?
Fantastic interview on c-span, Craig. The comments re listening to Rove and co were right on. I do this all the time--listen to Rush as long as I can bear it or Hannity so I can see what they're saying. My own view, the right win is going to cream Obama in November if he's the nominee. He won't even win all the states Kerry and/or Gore won, and he's going to lose Ohio, Fla, MO, WV, NH, and PA. He can't possibly win the electoral college if he loses all of these states, can he Craig?
Talking heads last night still wanted Hillary to quit. Would any of you quit knowing that you may win by 10 or more points. No Way, take it to the end.
So if that's the case than I guess this also applies to the Hillary supporters.
"I hadn't planned to post here but Craig the Hillary supporters are the extreme radical embarrassing part of the democratic party. They are rude, obnoxious, belligerent, and most importantly politically ignorant. They do not deal in facts, rather they deal in distortion, canards, intimidation of more centrist enlightened elements of the Democratic party."
You notice I changed Obama to Hillary since you say you Hillary supporters won't vote for Obama in he's the nominee.
I don't think the size of the crowds in Pa. is what counts-what matters is how many of those people were registered as Democats a month ago as Pa. law requires.
If Obama had performed brilliantly in the debate, his supporters(that includesMSM) would not have complained about the questions asked. Because he was a disaster, supporters used a classic tactic--
"Attack The Messenger"--right Craig?
I heard that the PA gov only won 11 counties is that true?
The Pa TV & Radio stations must love all the money they got from Obama. They should thank Hillary for not getting out of the race. Also the network guys should too. Why would they want her to quit, look at all the ratings they are getting.
heather, make that an OPTIMIST. (I don't even kow what a potimist is - but I think it has something to do with either indoor gardening or sanitary waste disposal).
Happy to go out on that limb with you all--but will be pleased with any Hillary win--by whatever margin it may be.
LaLi---Glad to see you are still here--missed your comments--hope it wasn't because the Royals are hovering at .500, but then so are my (& Heather's) Yankees--isn't it great that baseball season is just starting.
Morning peeps,
Boy Craig counting on "undecideds" to give Hillary a meaningful victory in PA smacks of desperation to me. You gotta wonder if anyone who says they are undecided at this point is even going to get out to vote. I think we're looking at a near draw tomorrow. Very brave of you to invite more people to join the blog fray!
The radical left wants to perform a bloody coup of the DLC wing of the Democratic party, they did it with Harold Ford Jr. now they want to do it with Hillary, Wake up before its too late do not allow these radical people to destroy the Democratic party

I became an independent after reeling from the hurtful stupidity and "intolerance" of the far left. Horrified by the religious right made this my only choice. I have lived amongst conservatives and the far left and found the latter to be the more injurious to the people and issues I care about.
Thank you, as for my Yankees, well they have problems first Jeter pulled a quad and was out a few days now A-Rod same injury, Posada still so so [shoulder] Cano, Giambi, Damon slumping, and the Yankees stupid resistance of putting Joba in the starting rotation but he is still out [bereavement leave] for his ill dad.
I look forward to things improving, Pope Benedict XVI celebrated Mass at Yankee Stadium, miracles do happen:-))
Note that the map looks a lot like the "insulting" description of PA that Carville described.
Heather, I hope you are right, and aside from Craig, this morning Chuck Todd suggested that the undecided vote in PA favors Clinton. That is hardly desperation, is it, notwithstanding the incisive analysis of our local observer?
It seems to me that there are unsaid reasons for many of the criticisms of Clinton and elevation of Obama by the democratic party leaders. (The reasons for Obama's and the conservatives are more obvious.) Statements extolling Obama for being "a special person", "the one to unite us", "a once-in-a-lifetime candidate", "he inspires us", and "the one" (to solve the Matrix? as Jon Stewart said) are vague hyperbole, especially given that Obama's campaign style and strategies seem pretty typical of those used by his endorsers when they ran campaigns. I can see how young voters could be influenced by this kind of talk, but the seasoned Dem. leaders know that there is way more to running the country than "inspiring" people." I've watched Rove and others lay out the "socialist" descriptions of Obama (& to a lesser extent, Clinton), and can not figure out why the dem. leaders are ignoring the benefit of having a more centrist candidate run against McCain. All I can conclude is that Bill Clinton's own centrist way of getting things done during his administration alienated the dems. who did not want to compromise with repubs. (which is what centrist is), I'd rather have something through compromise that nothing through demanding that all of the dem. agenda be adopted. Ironically, it seems the dem. leadership is supporting the candidate who is LESS likely to unite while using divisive tactics to do so (e.g., disenfranchising Mich. and Fla. voters - I do not think either Clinton or Obama should have agreed to do that, but their agreement should not be used to justify it.) I think a lot of "older" dem. voters see this as dem. leaders seriously risking the election because of their "egos", and at best, encouraging an unready candidate who may be a poor president and, in the long run, do harm for the dems. chances in the future.
I know Chuck Todd from his Miami days,
His theory of Fred Thompson holding the conservative coalition together fizzled into thin air, many other theories of his bit the dust. He has been in the tank for Obama from "jump street" so if said unfavored Clinton it must have killed him to admit that...was he gritting his teeth upon saying that :-))
I feel good about Hillary's showing in Pennsylvania
Heather - I expect his molars are ground to nubs now.
Coreen, I certainly would feel in good company out on that limb, but being a careful, cautious sort, I'll stay here near the trunk and just wait and watch for now.
French Fries, Dixie Chicks And ABC: A Frightening Revelation
"Then….suddenly…. Barack Obama was having rallies that appeared to have been organized directly out of the Hitler Youth Corps play book. Children were swooning. People were fainting. College students were chanting. And chanting. And chanting. Sexy young girls with serious boobage were making videos of their sexual fantasies about Barack Obama. Rappers suspended rapping about stabbing their bitches and killing women and cops to rap homage to The One. What an honor. Busloads of young people were pulling up to state caucus sites, hooting and chanting and drowning out or driving away their opponents.
At a debate last week, when ABC developed the cajones to ask the questions of Barack Obama that the mainstream press has consistently refused to deal with, the Obama backlash was akin to the Dixie Chicks’ professional assassination. Droves of frenzied, hate-spitting Obama zombies descended upon ABC’s web site to complain. They tied up their phone lines.
They wanted ABC dead, as if ABC were a person. A death threat video directed at George Stephanopoulos was placed on Youtube and thousands of wild-assed, wild-eyed Bush Obama sycophants posted the most vile and hateful remarks they could possibly pull from their bilious guts."
Hang in there, tomorrow is our time. 4 Wins in a row, Big states, democratic states, not republican territory and little states. It gets quite on the blog when Obama loses. Tomorrow should show he cannot close the deal, no matter how much money he throws at her.
Thanks Heather, for your postings. Tell it like it is.
Julie
I was shocked that George Stephanopoulos asked the William Ayers question. He appeared on Hannity's radio show the night before and Shawn brought it up. George even asked him if there is any other questions he should ask. I am glad he went back and looked into it and asked the question. If the media would do there job in the first place we might not of had a debate like that. If Obama and his team had problems with those questions just wait and see what might come at him next. He's seen nothing yet. The media and the reps will have a field day with him.
I can't wait to watch HRC on Olbarackermann tonight!! I wonder if she is going to be in the studio with him.
For all KO's tough trash talk against HRC...you know he will, more than likely, turn into a slobbering mess...just like Obamatthews does, when he is face2face with HRC!! 8~P
MSNBC really sounds as if they are trying to depress the vote.
Has to get over 10, looks like about 5 points, women may be leaving .... blah blah blah
There is something really ugly about their coverage. I would hate it if they were doing it to Sen. Obama. It is a public supported entity interfering with the outcome of an election. Very, very undemocratic.
I totally understand and sympathize with your post

It's nice to see your posts and I find them a breath of fresh air, and believe it is the women on this blog that give it the balance that is needed. Too many dems see only the right as hostile.
Brian: I agree with you on undecideds...hard to believe at this point. I actually doubt the existence of undecideds period. They really do know who they are going to vote for...deep down in places they don't talk about (or tell pollsters about.) I think they like the attention of being an "undecided." I actually used the line myself at some Iowa events...
In response to the WSJ link provided by Flatus, I voted for Obama in that election and do recall those events. What was not mentioned is that after Ryan dropped out of the race, the repubs. imported from Maryland Alan Keyes (an African American) to run against Obama. Much adoo about this carpetbagging and Keyes' outlandish statements from repubs. and the African American community in Illinois. It was not a legitmate republican opposition. While I supported Obama and looked forward to seeing what he would do as a U.S. Senator, I voted for Clinton in the IL primary because, on so many levels, it is just too soon for Obama.
Obama concedes defeat in PA despite outspending 2-1
04-21) 08:38 PDT Scranton, Pa. (AP) --
Barack Obama predicted Monday that Democratic presidential rival Hillary Rodham Clinton would get the critical victory she needs in Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary, but said his goal is to keep it close.
"I'm not predicting a win," he told Pittsburgh radio station KDKA. "I'm predicting it's going to be close and that we are going to do a lot better than people expect."
Whenever someone tells me they are undecided, I tell them to flip a coin. Whichever side they were hoping to see land is the one they wanted even if they hadn't yet told themselves about the decision.
HRC & KO. Oh, I will have to cave & watch that interview. I doubt that he will get all, aw-shucks-goofy like he did during his interviews with Bill Clinton & Al Gore. I just hope his inner-misogynist doesn't make an appearance.
"Are the pro-Obama forces seriously trying to get their troops outraged over this latest ad from Hillary Clinton? Just because it contains a ten-second sequence of presidential crises (Depression, Pearl Harbor, gas crisis, Katrina, etc.) and flashes a half-second clip of Osama bin Laden as part of it? Spare me. Are Democratic political ads no longer even allowed to mention the fact that the next president is going to have to deal with the war on terror?"
Straight from Moron's Matthews Mouth:
If Hillary does not win by double digits it's a victory for Obama ummmmm geeeeee Chris how do you define a loss for Obama Hillary getting 100% of the vote?
PA is one of the important states and after spending a lot of money and lose by 6 points, I would not be so thrilled about it. I would be worried about what might happen in November. Also what we did with FL and MI. You need all the big states and he has not done so well with them. The states that had real votes did not go so well. Is there a pattern here.

More have reportedly arrived since then...

re: Craig's comments on CSPAN
(1) Too much analysis of polls and not enough thought about the significance of the HUGE crowds Obama attracts.
(2) Craig defends Stephanopoulos & Gibson for their wretched debate saying, "they were just doing their jobs." Voters want to hear about substantive issues not flag pins, no matter what the MSM mindset is.

Mornin' all.
As I said last week, I'll be somewhat scarce for the next few weeks - but I'll look in from time to time.
Gee, I looked and looked and couldn't find it, so I'll provide it - in the form that we've all become so accustomed to.
Give us this day our daily Gallup.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/106609/Gallup-Daily-Obama-Holds-Slight-47-45-Advantage.aspx

I'm still feelin' a 12-15% win for Hillary in PA.
"Polls Show Possible Movement To Clinton In Pennsylvania"
http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/04/polls_show_possible_movement_t.php
I'm thinking SurveyUSA might release today...they'll be a pretty good indicator.
O' supporters should just prepare themselves for a bad night and a long week of everyone saying Obama's poor performance, whining after the debate and bitter comments being his downfall in PA.

Nash,
"'m not sure what the Clintons are, but they sure as hell aren't Democrats."
Posted by: Jamie
| April 21, 2008 9:17 AM
OK...I'll admit this worries me a little
SurveyUSA only plus 6% as of today
I'll modify and say it'll be 10% like OH. Going purly off the fact that when everyone else had NH wrong Suffolk is the only poll that got it right. Let's hope this isn't one of those that SurveyUSA hits on the head.
Yes, I'll admit 10% doesn't make me happy. I hope she surprises us.
http://www.nbc10.com/politics/15943088/detail.html

Good Morning Craig.

Less than 10%...the narrative is that Hillary is done.
More than 10%...the narrative is that he outspent her and can't close the deal, debate hurt him, whining hurt him, etc.
To us, a win is a win and we move forward. But the reality is is that it is all about the narrative coming out of PA.

I think Krugman's article today does a better job of explaining the pressures on oil than does a single attack on a tanker.

on the price of oil I suspect it is because the dollar is so far down. Plus, nearly everything made uses a petroleum product in some form or fashion.

I don't think the size of the crowds in Pa. is what counts-what matters is how many of those people were registered as Democats a month ago as Pa. law requires.
If Obama had performed brilliantly in the debate, his supporters(that includesMSM) would not have complained about the questions asked. Because he was a disaster, supporters used a classic tactic--
