Clinton Stalks the Night Again

Once again, Hillary Rodham Clinton is up at 3 a.m., fully dressed (necklace in place) and on the phone. In a just-released remake of the television theme credited with earlier successes, the Clinton camp is on the airwaves in Pennsylvania with a spot that focuses on the economy instead of national security – and on Republican John McCain instead of her Democratic rival Barack Obama.

    11. THE AGE OF THE NOVEL: A golden age of novelization began in 1992.

...Michael Gerson begins his column with one of this era’s earliest tales. Please enjoy the “dramatic moment” as we get to hear, once again, the dramatic tale in which the vile, imperious Bill Clinton “humiliates” a great good man:

GERSON (4/2/08): Sen. Robert P. Casey Jr.’s endorsement of Barack Obama last week...recalled another dramatic moment in Democratic politics. In the summer of 1992, as Bill Clinton solidified his control over the Democratic Party, Robert P. Casey, Sr., the senator's father, was banned from speaking to the Democratic convention for the heresy of being pro-life.

But the story is not so simple. According to those who actually doled out the 1992 convention speaking slots, Casey was denied a turn for one simple reason: his refusal to endorse the Clinton-Gore ticket. "It's just not factual!" stammers James Carville, apoplectic over Casey's claims. "You'd have to be idiotic to give a speaking role to a person who hadn't even endorsed you." "Why are you doing this to me?" moans Paul Begala, who, with Carville, managed two Casey campaigns before joining Clinton's team in 1992. " I love Bob Casey, but my understanding was that the dispute was not about his right-to-life views, it was about the Clinton-Gore ticket."

    12. The more lies that were told about Al Gore, the more the media accused him of dishonesty. John Kerry's wartime heroism became a liability in comparison to the signature draft-dodging of the Bush administration. Clinton's exaggerated account of bravery in Bosnia was reprehensible, and dumb, but the pundits howling in rage were unmoved by the casual and continual fictions of Ronald Reagan. Concentration-camp liberations, imaginary black friends, millionaire welfare queens — Reagan manufactured them monthly, and whenever it was revealed they had no basis in fact, he grinned his engaging grin and said, in effect, “You didn't take me seriously, did you?” The media loved him for it.

The media does not love Hillary Clinton. (Unlike Reagan, she usually makes it impossible for them to believe they're smarter than she is.) And they're determined to keep her from winning the nomination

The last time she was so fatigued, she imagined having been in a fire fight in Bosnia after the war had pretty much ended. She spoke about it as if it really, truly happened.

The point is that the Woods Fund is a legitimate charitable group that has done good work in Chicago, particularly in slum areas. Quite truthfully, I'm worried less about any potential Arabic associations that I am by Rezko. That involves money in direct support of Sen Obama. Are the charges true about his failure to cleanup slum properties? Did Sen Obama (whether knowingly or unknowingly get Rezko special treatment) etc.

Money is almost always the source of corruption. The whole religious/middle east potential conspiracy blah blah is just pretty darn far fetched. Now a lot of these charities were front organizations for Saudi funds into possible terrorist organizations. All of that came out after 9/11 but it doesn't look as if the Woods Fund was one of the ones shut down.

IOW - There just doesn't seem to be any there there other than possible financial shenanigans.

    29. Jamie,

I just want you on the record. You can reply with a yes or no. If the following is true, will it hurt Obama?

      1. Khaldi and Obama were old buddies from Columbia and Barak knew exactly what Rashid advocated.

      2. Rezko met Khadili (through Obama?) and gave him money.

      3. Rezko gave Obama money.

      4. Rezko got some of his money from Auchi. Certainly the money to land Obama's house deal.

      5. Obama knew Auchi, was aware of the money Auchi gave Rezko and the history of Auchi. (met Auchi?)

      6. Obama directed money towards AAAN (Khalidi) and knew AAAN collaboarted with Cairs (despite the record and charter of Cairs at the time).

      7. Obama got Trinity money through Woods Fund

      8. Jesse Jackson Jr. had a relationship with Cairs

      9. Jesse Jackson Jr. was appointed as co-chairman to Obama's campaign

      10. Al-Hanooti arrested (spy for Saddam) and others deported, arrested and indicted from Cairs (even before 2002)

None of this will appear as Nader has claimed to be at best Pro-Palestian (Hamas)? There will be no grounds to explore Woods Fund, Khadili. Auchi in relationship to Rezko and Obama for quid pro quo? None of this will hurt the credibility of Obama in regards to Jewish voters, his foreign policy advisors or the perception that both Obama's Middle Eastern friends and his Pastor connections sport anti-Israeli positons he should have none about and which he helped fund?

This from a person who Lieberman mentored all the way to his convention speech? And during this time, Obama voiced hawkish over Iran and opposition to Hamas?

So will this hurt Obama should more evidence back this up?

    30. Asleep At The Wheel - My Baby Thinks She's A Train lyrics

      It's 3am in the morning
      That train whistle is blowing
It sounds like some lonesome song
      Got in my soul
      My baby flipped the blanket
She won't be back no more
      She makes a whistle stop
      Then she's gone again
      Sometimes it's hard
Hard on a poor boy's brain
      Poor boys brain
      I'm telling you boys
My baby thinks she's a train

      [Chorus]
Lawd lawd lawdy the way she moves
Drags me round like an old caboose
I'm telling you boys thats girl's insane
My baby thinks she's a train

Choo choo ain't just some train sound
It's the noise that you hear
      When my baby hits town
      With her long hair flying
      Man she's hard to tame
What you s'pposed to do when
Your baby thinks she's a train

She eats money like a train eats coal
She burns it up and leaves you in the smoke
If you wanna catch her ride
      You wait till she unwinds
      She's just like a train
She always gives some bum a ride

      [Chorus]
My baby thinks she's a train

    35. I'm not a huge Terry Gross fan, but I have to say that she's had a couple of pretty damn good shows last night and tonight:

Last night was an interview with Steve Coll (former WashPo foreign correspondent, M.E. and now with the New Yorker), who was talking about his new book on the extended bin Laden clan. Sounds like a great book. Anyway...Coll also indicated in the interview that he believes the conditions for capturing or killing Osama bin Laden have never been greater since 9/11 than they are right now and in the next year or so. First, Coll says, OBL's support in the tribal areas of Pakistan is eroding, because plain folks there are pissed about all the jihadi violence and are more likely to drop a dime on him. Second, the new government in Pakistan has an even greater incentive than Pervo did to capture bin Laden -- just to prove that a democratic approach is better than a militaristic approach in fighting terrorism. Also, highly ironic point that Pervo has had a disincentive all these years to actually capture bin Laden because it would dry up the flow of billions from the Bush-Cheney crowd. All interesting points by Coll.

Tonight, TG interviewed Eric Lichtblau -- the NYT reporter who talked about the stories he broke on domestic wiretapping, bank-record snooping, etc., and all the pressures from the White House (fueled by outright lies and misrepresentations) that were brought to bear on him and the New York Times top brass.

Both would be worth tracking down to listen to online, if NPR posts those "Fresh Air" interviews.

      10. Al-Hanooti arrested (spy for Saddam) and others deported, arrested and indicted from Cairs (even before 2002)

Criminality in any way known to Obama?

All of this is rumor, guesses, vague association. As far as I can tell, none of it adds up to anything more than possible financial shenanigans and some of which may come out in the Rezko trial, but the whole Arabic conspiracy stuff just isn't believable without a whole lot more investigation and REAL proof.

The newspaper quoted Richardson as saying, "I never told anyone I would endorse Sen. Clinton".

If you look at it, both of those statements could be true, but MSNBC has been doing a "who's lying" meme all day long. It is that sort of bias and/or stupidity that drives Clinton supporters up the wall.

    68. Part One

      http://www.stop-obama.org/?p=476#more-476

On the point about lying and media

Jamie, I asked you if the perception of the associations would influence voters. Wright did not trigger any criminal charges did it? That Obama helped to organize the million man march with Farrakhan didn't result in indictments did it? The fact that even the Politifact checker gave a barely true to the Tenn Republican claims that AAAN is a controversial group speaks to perception. Even Hizb'Allah claims they provide essential social services.

Now Rezko (a) gave money to Obama (b), some of this money came from Auchi (c). Rezko gave money to Khalidi (d) who worked with Cairs (e) ABCDE = the perception that sordid money (ac) went to (bd and possibly d) and that (abd and possibly ce) knew each other, their activities and ideologies.

Now it is true that AAAN represents in part America's biggest Palestian community. We see an Obama willing to navigate the conventional butt-kissing BUT this does not promote his stump approach to Jews and Israel. His comments certainly don't speak to contrasting views of his advisors. Where did he find them, the South Side? The Left has railed viciously against Israel and the "Jewish" lobby. Farrakhan and Wright talk about this. So if the Rezko trial requires a full vetting of the money trail and Auchi, Khalidi and others enter the picture, this can only increase the circle of associates that go against the image he is now trying to paint for being President..

Anyway, your answer I guess is no.

My answer was that as yet, I don't see a PROVABLE offense that would interfere with his election or at this time is criminal or nefarious. It seems to me that what you have now are semi related or unrelated organizations and individuals who may or may not have advocated some policy that may or may not be related to organizations or people in the Middle East who may or may not have evil intentions towards the United States and somehow Senator Obama may or may not have known about all of these people and organizations and be party to these nefarious actions or evil intentions.

That one of the sponsors was Farakhan was just something for commentary. Wright as with many of the black churches were very supportive of this concept. The last time I checked Americans still had freedom of association as well as the right to petition their government.

You know about the Woods fund of Chicago from the web site.
a well respected foundation in Chicago, one would expect someone with Obamas reputation and interests to be on the board of several such organizations.

AAAN is a local CDC nonprofit, strictly serving the local comunity.
      http://www.aaan.org/index.html
They have a number of funding sources. One of them is the City of Chicago that funds the salaries and other exspences mfor one of their programs. Another funder is Woods Fund who provided a grant for 1/3 the costs of a community organizing, IIRC around $30,000,
Obama would never have been in on the decision to offer the grant most likely

here is AAAN's connect to A local chapter of Cairs from AAAN's web sit

"Also, the AAAN is collaborating with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)-Chicago and the Midwest Immigrant and Human Rights Center (MIHRC) to launch a legal, political, and media campaign challenging the national and religious profiling experienced by thousands of Arab and Muslim permanent residents experiencing massive delays in their applications for naturalization and citizenship."

      http://chicago.cair.com

From what I can see there is nothing to Max's connections except a black helicopter style conspiracy that only exist in some nutcases head.

When she challenges those pediatricians to cite INDEPENDENT studies, they can't do it...because the studies they use have all been funded by the pharmaceuticals, who have a vested interest in not being held to account for product liability. You're welcome to disagree with me, but please state your credentials and the time you've spent researching autism. I've spent 17 years on it so far.

    113. OD...

I don't actually disagree with you about Jenny, but I hope you'll at least consider where she's coming from. I know most people won't because they have no idea what it's like to lose a child you shouldn't have lost...and I don't mean to death. The disrespect you saw arises from disrespect that's been shown to many parents by many pediatricians. I know a number of people who've been asked to leave practices - and take their children with them - because of their reservations about vaccinating. No discussion; simply, you will either vaccinate as I tell you to, or I will not be your child's doctor. That disrespect also arises from the knowledge that these men are either brainwashed or intellectually dishonest. The pharmaceuticals pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to the men you saw tonight, and to others like them, who are bought and paid for as 'thought leaders'. If you saw David and Jenny pressing for an answer as to whether or not these leaders would support the proposed legislation to fund a study comparing vaccinated and unvaccinated populations, you probably didn't know the importance of what they were doing. The AAP has stood against such a study, and in the path of studies of environmental causes/contributors to the autism epidemic, because the pharmaceutical companies oppose such studies. Instead, they point over and over again to studies that have been proved to be fatally flawed.

As I've said a number of times on this blog, we already have the very best government big business can buy. It began with Reagan's deregulation in the 1980's. Didn't take long to seriously damage - perhaps destroy - a pretty darn good system of health care, but it's been accomplished in a mere 25 - 30 years by allowing the pharmaceuticals undue influence over every aspect of the system.

One last comment about Jenny McCarthy. It's hard not to resent her. Beautiful, famous, plenty of money to fund whatever might heal her son...and she dances in and gets people to listen to truths many of us have been trying to put before the public for at least a decade. But we have to be grateful that, finally, someone is at least getting some attention paid to some very important aspects of the autism puzzle.

    116. Democrats Fear Florida Backlash
      A Failure to Seat
      Delegation Is Seen
      Hurting in November
      By JUNE KRONHOLZ
      April 3, 2008; Page A5

WASHINGTON -- Florida's congressional Democrats and the national Democratic Party are concerned about their November election prospects if the Florida delegation isn't seated at this summer's national convention in Denver, party chairman Howard Dean said in an interview.

Whether the state's 210 delegates are seated "makes a difference" in the congressional races in Florida, where the party hopes to pick up one or two seats, and in the presidential race, Mr. Dean said. "I don't think we can have a vote in Denver about whether or not Florida is to be seated" without prompting a divisive floor fight that could damage the party in the November polls, he added.

Florida was stripped of its Democratic convention delegates after defying national party rules and leapfrogging other states to hold its primary in January. Supporters of Hillary Clinton, who won the primary, have insisted that the delegates should be seated anyway.

Mr. Dean and Florida's state elected leaders said Wednesday that the state leaders had agreed to work together on a plan to seat the delegates. But it is still unclear how the votes would be divided or which candidate would benefit.

Supporters of Barack Obama, while agreeing that Florida should have a vote, have done little to promote a seating plan because it probably would narrow his delegate lead over Sen. Clinton. The state party's efforts to hold a mail-in revote collapsed two weeks ago.

    118. Pennyslvania wants a redo too. Of its political image. Claim there's more to the state than James Carville's quip about 2 urban areas with Alabama in the middle.

      Politico: Extreme Makeover: Pennsylvania Edition
      http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0408/9323.html

"James Carville put what some view as a pox on Pennsylvania. Twenty-two years ago, as a Democratic strategist working on a gubernatorial race, Carville described the state as Paoli (a suburb of Philadelphia) and Penn Hills (a suburb of Pittsburgh) with Alabama in between.

A generation of Pennsylvania political analysts has been trying to reverse the perception ever since...."

... "When it comes to voting, Pennsylvania voters prefer moderation. The state elects Republicans who support abortion rights and Democrats who oppose them. Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), a conservative Republican who lost in 2006, was always viewed as an outlier in the state’s political culture."

    119. "As I've said a number of times on this blog, we already have the very best government big business can buy. It began with Reagan's deregulation in the 1980's. Didn't take long to seriously damage - perhaps destroy - a pretty darn good system of health care"

And to destroy so much more in this country. How Reagan can even be talked about these days with ANY respect is baffling to me. And I don't care who's doing the talking.
