"Instead of closing the polling gap as the primary election draws closer, as he usually does, Obama has fallen farther behind in Pennsylvania in the last week. The latest Quinnipiac University survey showed Clinton’s 6-point lead in February has expanded to 12 points. The Franklin and Marshall College poll released Thursday showed a similar trend."

  8. These poll numbers show that a percentage of the population is very susceptible to MSM propaganda. Their support is soft. MSM was able to rescue Obama again - temporarily. O'Reilly played a montage of News (?) outlets praising Obama's speech. It was amazing to see how far MSM will go with their lies. Where would Obama be without MSM support and protection - nowhere.

The polls to watch are the ones in upcoming states. If Hillary wins big, the national numbers wil rise.

The strategy both sides seem to be using to reach the supporters of the other is to yell more loudly what they have already been saying."

  16. Funny that I somewhat agree with her on this view:

“We, perhaps, have corrupted our children and our grandchildren by heedless affluence, by a lack of manliness, by giving the younger generation more money and liberty than their youth can handle, by indoctrinating them with sinister ideologies and false values, by permitting them, as young children, to indulge themselves in imprudence to superiors and defiance of duly constituted authority, by lack of prudent, swift punishment when the transgressed, by coddling and pampering them when they were children and protecting them from a very dangerous world – which always was and always will be. We gave them no moral arms, no spiritual armor.” – On Growing Up Tough, chapter On Hippies

I think kids, like most people, respond better to reason than dogma.

    Remember the "salad days" Clintonites?

"The AP/Yahoo poll, conducted Dec. 14-20, said that 47 percentof Democratic voters would support Hillary Clinton if a primary were held in their state now, followed by Barack Obama at 25 percent and John Edwards at 13 percent."

    http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/polltracker/2007/12/clinton-leads-obama-nationally.html

You poll numbers don't scare me - because Obama beats HRC and McCain on message.

(Maybe Penn should focus on Clinton's message instead of the polls. And maybe Wolfson should focus on that too instead of attacking Obama....)

"The latest (and only post-Wright) poll has the race at 1%. This is hugely significant and if supported by subsequent polls will change the dynamic of the race.

If Clinton can win three primaries in a row (Pennsylvania, Indiana and North Carolina) she can argue that he has not won anywhere post-Wright. This will be particularly devastating if he gets below 35% of the white vote in NC. "

He beats her on message? What message? If people aren't voting for him how is his message winning.

Anyways, the first day of school - I was traumatized to be left alone. So when they let us out to play - I went and hugged a tree (mind you I was no environmentalist back then - just scared). Anyways, the teachers tried to talk me off that tree all day to no avail. The only thing that worked was when my mom arrived and told me sternly to "stop hugging the tree" - and also that I would get a Slurpee later if I did. Worked like a charm!!

Neither I nor Obama did this. The DNC did. And Clinton accepted that decision as well.

HRC said: "It's clear, these elections they're having are not going to count for anything."

    http://halfricanrevolution.blogspot.com/2008/03/it-is-time-for-hillary-to-drop-nonsense.html

    Not so clear anymore...

"Why is it so easy for you to insist the race is over when it's not."

It is not over technically. We all know that. But Edwards, Richardson, Biden, Romney, etc. - all dropped out before the race was "over" too. So asking HRC to end this thing - is not such a far-fetched idea.

    Posted by: warren | March 23, 2008 10:16 AM

  37. "Why is it SO easy for you to set aside the FACTS that Obama has won more states,"

Warren what disturbs me about the "more states" meme is that you had two campaigns. One got sloppy and over confident and went to the caucus states expecting their usual insiders success. The other saw a flaw in the system and gamed the beejeesus out of it by corraling one massive interest group and delivering them to the polls.

In both cases the turn out while of record proportions was still minimal when compared to the general. In the case of the red states, there is no way they are going to go blue. So Obama gets all of these caucus delegate votes from states that do not report their actual votes cast and which he can't take in November.

I was at the center of a caucus state. Coming from a primary state, I was scandalized at just how undemocratic they are. It's a little late in life to be coming to this realization and it has really contributed to my absolute resistence to Obama and support of Clinton. I know it is the "way it has always been done", but I see it as out and out cheating.

  39. The only reason the Obama campaign is screaming now about Clinton dropping out is because they are about to get their butt's klcked in all the remaining primaries.

It is a clear indication Obama cannot win in the general. There is no way he can pick up the South and now it is clear he cannot win in Ohio and he has blown off Florida.

Obama has blown off states he needs to win in the fall.

    Posted by: POLLCAT | March 23, 2008 10:22 AM

  40. Jamie:

You know Obama has won primaries too. And at the end of the day - he has more votes total (even with those hallowed "big states.")

In fact, he has more votes even counting the votes from FL and MI. (MI is particularly skewed cause Clinton gets a + 328,309).

So I am not sure how you can simply write off Obama's success as "gaming the system." Especially since the Clintons (and their machine) are supposed political geniuses.

    Posted by: warren | March 23, 2008 10:23 AM

  41. Warren:

The DNC rules allow for states to find a way to count either via re-vote or via the credentials committee.

The Obama campaign said they would obied by whatever the DNC decides

In MI, the DNC and the Clinton campaign approved a re-vote and Obama challenged it until it died.

You can spin however you'd like but the Obama campaign know they can't win if FL and MI re-vote and the delegates are seated. I don't blame him for what he's doing because it benefits his own political interests and he's proven himself to be someone that only makes moves that benefit him.

The sad thing is that many people (looks like about 53% from the poll above) that currently support Hillary will view him as the illegitimate nominee. BTW that 53% has grown from about 25% a few weeks ago. You should be worried as an Obama supporter...he cannot win the general election without that 53% of voters. The complete reversal in his McCain match-up numbers prove this to be the case.

Anyways, I have always been confident in Obama - and he will have plenty of time to win those Democratic voters over. And I am not about to let a bunch of campaign sophistry change my view. (Especially not from a punk like Wolfson....)

Is that really all you have left?

As I said before...and if you make me I'll say again...Hillary didn't make him go to that church, Hillary didn't make Power say that he wouldn't pull troops out of Iraq, Hillary didn't make him ignore his "still friend" Rezko's slums in his district, Hillary didn't make him lie about whether he had heard Wright say such things, Hillary didn't make him lie about how much money Rezko raised for his campaigns (he lied 3 times about this one), Hillary didn't make Rice go on TV and say Obama wasn't ready to answer the 3a.m. call, Hillary didn't make him enter into a real estate deal with Rezko even though he was under investigation...

I could go on but your kitchen sink strategy is more like Obama tripping over his own feet. Go take a good hard look at obama and stop trying to blame Clinton...it's not working. Obama is his own biggest problem.

  69. If someone is going to mock a candidates wardrobe, then apparently mocking of appearances is acceptable. BTW, those haircuts were paid for by her 2006 Senate campaign and were in the disclosures. If I could afford that for a haircut, I sure as hell would spend it too so I am not begrudging her...I think she needs Nader to fight to get her money back though...

Pollcat, yet again, I will point out that I will vote for whomever the Democratic nominee is. I am mocking the Clinton campaign because she has run a campaign so bad, that if she were running to head the Klan against a black man, she would lose that race as well.

I haven't seen a choke job this bad since the Yankees were one strike away in game 4 against the Red Sox and choked away the series win.

    "UPDATE Friday 6:45 p.m.

Lissa Muscatine, who served as Hilary Clinton's chief speechwriter in 1996 and accompanied her on the Bosnia trip, feels that I have failed to provide a full picture of what took place. She gave me her "vivid recollections" of the arrival in Tuzla, which I quote below:

I was on the plane with then First Lady Hillary Clinton for the trip from Germany into Bosnia in 1996. We were put on a C17-- a plane capable of steep ascents and descents -- precisely because we were flying into what was considered a combat zone. We were issued flak jackets for the final leg because of possible sniper fire near Tuzla. As an additional precaution, the First Lady and Chelsea were moved to the armored cockpit for the descent into Tuzla. We were told that a welcoming ceremony on the tarmac might be canceled because of sniper fire in the hills surrounding the air strip. From Tuzla, Hillary flew to two outposts in Bosnia with gunships escorting her helicopter.
    UPDATE Saturday 8:45 a.m.

Gen. Nash says that I misquoted him in saying he was unaware of any "security threat" to the First Lady. While he was unaware of any "sniper threat," he now tells me there were a couple of "security concerns" that day, which he found out about after returning to his headquarters after greeting Clinton at the airport. There was a "non-specific report" of a possible truck bomb in the area. The military also had information that "some of the communications associated with the First Lady's visit were being monitored."

"In both cases, we took appropriate security action," said Nash, adding that Clinton's visit was not disrupted."

You can't take an entry for multiple expenses and compare them to a single expense. I'm sure that $1500 were for several visits and include coloring, cut and styling and would not be that much off the mark spent by most women for those services from a good stylist.

  90. “What Hillary Needs To Do”

Three States she needs to concentrate on Pennsylvania, Indiana, and especially North Carolina. I suggest as homework she needs to watch Norma Rae several times if necessary. Once she has that accomplished, she needs to stump very hard. I would go so far as to say almost 24/7.

When stumping Hilary needs that Sally Field/Norma Rae moment, she needs that emotionalism but it has to be pure and honest, purely from the heart.

That impassioned demeanor that sally Field portrayed when she told the security guard at the cotton mill “Forget it! I'm stayin' right where I am. It's gonna take you and the police department and the fire department and the National Guard to get me outta here!” Also when Sally Field Scribbled “UNION” on that cardboard she stood atop the desk and like Moses held the staff with the Israelite in battle, her arms outstretched, at that moment everyone at that mill was united male and female black white all creeds and colors, It was something every red blooded American female could relate to gender wise and emotionally.

That is exactly what Hillary must do in her stumping from not until the last primary. She must speak of a better life, hope, prosperity that the American dream can come true and detail how she will make it possible. She must visit homes, home to home door to door, sleepovers, hospital visits and V.A. hospital visits, stop and visit Ft. Bragg N.C. a must do.

I think with hard work she can win North Carolina and Indiana. The odds were against the real Norma Rae but she achieved her dream of unionizing her cotton mill, and Hillary can achieve her dream and all the mass millions like me that support her and believe in her ability to make us a better nation. Never wave that white flag of surrender never give up, keep fighting Hillary, be that Norma Rae!

  91. The most important thing any of us can do is to not permit the rightwing to exploit this issue.
    http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/03/23/race/index.html

UPDATE III: As Zack points out in comments, here's what the other right-wing "Insta" blogger -- Glenn "Instapundit" Reynolds -- said about Jeremiah Wright a couple of weeks ago after citing an article which mentioned that Oprah Winfrey was also a member of Trinity Church:
That's from a 2007 Chicago Tribune piece via Hot Air. This kind of makes me see Oprah a bit differently, too. "Not many people would associate Oprah's easygoing nature and warm, welcoming appeal with the kind of oratory provided by Wright." As with Mitt Romney on guns, I'm starting to think that they haven't been entirely straight with us.
Indeed. It's only a matter of time before even the most seemingly well-intentioned black people get exposed as the white-hating extremists that they are. Even Oprah. Or, as Instapundit's long-time political comrade, Instapunk, put it on Friday: "We're teetering at the edge of believing that you're a secret society, a massive collection of sleeper cells just waiting for your chance to do serious harm to the rest of us."

Sorry Oprah i'm not buying this whole Obama is a "movement" thing. I believe this whole Obama for President thing was carefully crafted and planned as was his membership in Pastor Wright's church, all based on a future run for the presidency.

Oprah has never been honest about anything in her life from her yo-yo diets of the month to her so called gifts that do not come from her largesse, but in fact are underwritten by corporations which is a whole stry in and of itself.

I'll take Montel over Oprah any day of the week, he's more honest then she is, he is a decorated Marine Vet. with more class in his pinkey then Oprah has all over. Thats just my humble honest opinion. Not every woman is bowled over by Oprah

"Contrary to the inevitability campaign Obama supporters are currently waging (what else is left after failing to win it outright on votes or to change the superdelegate rules in the middle of the game...) high level Democrats still have reservations about Barack Obama as the nominee and Obama supporters would be well-advised to accept and respect this fact. ... 151. A Letter to Rep. Sally Kern
    by: refinish69
Wed Mar 19, 2008 at 21:56:38 PM CDT
Oklahoma Rep. Sally Kern has stated that Homosexuals are more deadly and a bigger threat than Terrorist or Islam. I have many things I could say about this ignorant Bigot but the letter from an 18 year old who lost his mother in the Oklahoma bombing in 1995 says it more clearly than I ever could. Tucker tried to deliver his letter to Rep. Kern but like most hate filled Republicans, she refused to see him and had the state troopers stop him. Nothing like a chicken shit Representative who refuses to see her constituents. Listen to her comments and then read Tucker's wonderful letter.

I see a lot of talk about Richardson being disloyal. When I hear this discussion, I think to Steven Covey's writings when he talks about making deposits into an emotional bank account. Relationships work best when the parties involved are both making deposits. Perhaps Mr. Richardson was tired of being reminded by the Clinton's that they made him?

  166. Warren says:

"Good for Richardson for standing up for what he believes in - and resisting the strong-arm tactics of the Clintons. (Who sought to keep him quiet with threats and by plying him with chicken wings)."

Warren: I don't believe the Obama campaign is exactly saying "pretty please" for endorsements and/or super delegate support:

"Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri said Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois had recently asked him "if it comes down to the last day and you're the only superdelegate? ... Do you want to go down in history as the one to prevent a black from winning the White House?" Jackson added, "You might find some young primary challenger placing you in a difficult position."

Sure sounds like a threat to me.

Do you have some specific examples of what the Clintons did to "strong arm" Richardson besides the typical "anti-Clinton person" comments?

And if you don't live in Emanuel Cleavers district, you don't know how silly the threat is. Cleaver knows how to run in a black minority district. Obama should have him as an advisor then a Chicago wardheel politician like JJjr.

It's going along, but it SUCKS. I can't eat fruit or bread or pasta or anything other than this powered food crap though I cheat with rice crackers. Normally I wouldn't give a crap about losing weight but the diabetes and blood pressure are consistent concerns. (I think the blood pressure went up after I joined this blog... hehehehe).

Anyway, has anyone ever went to a hypnotist to deal with addictions? I mean, we're talking about smoking and the difficulties there. I am wondering if I couldn't go to a hypnotist to be convinced that I hate all food except green beans - joking. I did once go to one when I was like 20 years old to try to give up sugar. I was good for 6 months, but I think the reason was that I spent $50 like in 1980 and wanted it to not go to waste.

This was totally Off topic, so sorry.

Hey Frank? Ever heard the aphorism, “people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks?” You smeared Al Gore in 2000 and helped elect George W. Bush in 2000. You tarred leading Democrats, like Hillary, who pushed for a diplomatic solution in Iraq, as unpatriotic. You suppress and misrepresent Hillary’s real position on the war. You ridiculed the U.N. and the weapons inspectors, who were doing a good job and helped whip up public sentiment to reject the peaceful solution to the Iraq threat. And you shilled like Judith Miller in warning Americans about the existence of Saddam Hussein’s WMD."

  202. Just had a typical NYC Sunday afternoon (even if atypical for me since I am usually on the couch...)

I went to an exhibit showing the works of Shinjo. A Buddhist Master from Japan. A very zen and serene experience. Then, my friend and I walked over to Union Square - where the Black Israelites were ranting about the evils of the "white man." Their agression was contagious - and led to many rancorous debates in the crowd watching. There were two middle-aged white men having an even angrier debate than anything taking place on the stage. These two men were having the tired old debate about the veracity of the Holocaust.

Anyways, it reinforced why I support Obama.

That which we have in common is greater than what divides us.

This is something I firmly believe based on my experience and everything I have read. And I just think Obama's life story will help make this a hallmark of the Presidency. (Especially in light of his brief time in Washington - which fuels the divisive battle between Democrats vs. Republicans).

The maxim above holds true whether the debate is between: Democrats vs. Republicans, Clinton Supporters vs. Obama supporters, blacks vs. whites, straights vs. gays, Iraqis vs. Americans, men vs. women, evangelicals vs. secularists, and whatever other Us vs. Them debate you can think of...

Yes, the letter was talked about on Fox this afternoon. Don't know the particulars but I know he called her a liar. I just watch Richardson and Randell (sp) and it was very interesting. Richardson was so unnerved and he looked sick, in the head that is. Anyway Randell did an excellent job and Richardson could not even give an decent response. Richardson wants Hillary to drop out so badly because he knows Obama will be whipped badly in the upcoming primaries. I just love it. haha

  211. The 22nd Amendment, a dealbreaker for me from the outset, has been discussed too infrequently by either the media or the posters here. Yes, there have been some comments about the fatiguing effects of a Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton scenario, but there has been little mention of the underlying reason many Democrats (and many Americans) reject the Clinton candidacy. That may change, if we see more articles like this: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/3/22/172816/116/741/482336

  212. Benjamin...I'm just glad they passed the 22nd Amendment when they did, just in time to stop Bess Truman's power grab. You know she was gonna lay low, and then go for it in '56. She wanted it. Real bad.

Posted by: LardassLiberal Author Profile Page | March 23, 2008 7:42 PM

  213. Benjamin Blue

The reason for the 22nd Amendment was the fact that in 1952 after more than a decade of Democratic party power, a World War, and an economic downturn, the Republican party was massively in the catbird seat and they detested Franklin Roosevelt and were scared it could happen again. The 22nd was practically arm twisted and force fed through state houses.

They were really really sorry when they couldn't run Ronald Reagan another time. Naturally that would have been a disaster which may be another arguement for the 22nd, but the Republicans at the time were actually trying to figure out if there was a possibility of repeal and settled for the next best thing Bush for one term, trying to do everything possible to cripple the Clinton terms, followed by Bush for two terms.

Clinton just doesn't sound all that bad.

Here is where the problem lies. Race is only part of the social equation. Class is the important one and one you see reflected again and again. You can be blacker than night, but if you have a degree from MIT, you're a member of the club. Class is the issue which hits you in the face. No one cares who you date, what color they are or how old they are. They will care a great deal if you start bringing around the cleaning lady.

I asked for Wes Clark but McPeak was the best they could manage at the time. Yikes, what an a**. Here is some of his background: He ran Bob Dole's Oregon campaign in 1996, endorsed George Bush in 2000 and was arrested for DWI just a few years ago while driving his Japanese car (so much for the vote of confidence in the American worker)

Plus the military didn't have such a high opinion of him when he was running the Air Force (concentrating on such things as changing the style of the uniform which the Air Force promptly discarded when he left). The military and the country are so f**ked if he gets any position of authority under an Obama administration. I shudder to think he is giving military advice to anyone. He is a loud mouth and I wish the Republicans would take him back.

6.Continuing cutting of interest rates.(market expect more rate cuts).
7.Provide a cushion to Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac to absorb additional mortgage investments of $ 200 billion.

  237. If Obama was white he would not have been still running after all of that scandal with his “uncle” pastor. We, the “white people”, cannot use the word “black” in public, only African-American; while on the other side, a person that attends an African-American racist church every Sunday and listens to the bias of anti-white preaching, can still be running for president!!! Do you really think Wright has preached that kind of preaching just that one time? Also do not forget! Obama has been listening to Wright’s preaching for almost 20 years!!!
Obama said "the most segregated hour in American life occurs on Sunday morning”. I don’t think so! I never ever heard of any white priest preaching from the altar such racist ideas against blacks, or any other segments of the American population. Probably that is happening in Obama’s neck of the wood… If he genuinely believed in solving the race issue, he should have done that “outstanding speech” long before his ass was in hot H2O because of his close connections with Wright
Obama's rhetoric about "hope" & "change" is just a grammatically @ ideologically misspelled propaganda...
Imagine him being the Commander in Chief...!!!
Well, if lefties (Kerry & Co.) succeed in hijacking the Democratic Party leadership, I can see that a lot of Hillary supporters would vote for McCain. Obama's candidacy has been artificially blown out of all proportion. Does he really believe that he stands a chance to win the General Election? Everyone I know would vote Republican this time if Hillary is not going to be the nominee...
Obamatics forget that the majority of the US are not lefties. Bill Clinton knew this very well. That's why he was able to build a centrist oriented coalition & won both elections.
Also, it was in Obama’s interest for Florida & Michigan not to rerun their primaries. Do not forget the majority of the voters in both of these states voted for Hillary. That’s why lefties are not interested in finding a solution. He knew full well he would lose both of them. So, how he is going to win without Florida & Michigan?
    What a sad joke!!!
The whole point is supporting a winner in November. I can't see that happening if the Democratic Party goes for Obama... A good portion of white Americans center-left, center & center-right either will vote for McCain, or will not vote at all; same with Latinos & Asians... He will lose Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. He will have a weak showing in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles. He will lose most of the so-called red states that gave him their votes to just convincingly defeat him this Fall...
The rhetoric about Hope & Change is just propaganda, without being backed by substance. His voting records are disturbing. His pullout-the-troops plan without having a real plan is disastrous... And overall, when McCain will win the November Elections, the African-American community will feel even more anti-American & racial than they feel now, because their hopes got demolished by their hunger for power without the backing of the majority of the American people...
These are my reasons why I cannot support Obama.

Wow. I have so many things that I think about this Rez. I don't know where to start. But here goes.

    1. Scare whitey? What the hell does that mean? I keep hearing black commentators say on televison that there's this "be afraid of the black man" thing going on. And Obama using his old grandmama as an example. WTF? Let me tell you, I've never walked across the street to avoid a black man in my life. The ONE "ethnic" group of males that might freak me are skin heads. Screw all this "fear factor" stuff.

    2. Right now Hillary is no more toast than Obama. The more he trashes her and her husband in insidious ways, which he has done from almost the beginning, the more they both are bloodied.

    3. There are a myriad of white commentators who have never in their lives interacted with blacks or any other ethnic group. I don't want to go all Spiro Agnew on you, but they are elitists who live so far from the working class whites, blacks and hispanics I know that sometimes I wonder how we as a country have survived the media viewpoint at all. In all honesty, I believe some of these a-holes really believe electing Obama will make up for all these centuries of discrimination. In their evil little hearts they are thinking, "Hey, it's cheaper than reparations..." Assholes and maroons.

    4. When Barack Obama praised Ronald Reagan and said he was a more transitional president that Bill Clinton I knew he was willing to throw the entire Democratic party under the bus to win this thing. RONALD REAGAN, who did more than NIXON to destroy this country. And don't give me that story about how he just meant Reagan "influenced" thinking. He knew EXACTLY what he was saying. He just didn't realize how much some of us would be pissed off.

  254. Evening Patsi,

    1. My "scare whitey' comment is as stated, a RIGHT WING campaign that's being waged everyday, by the likes of Hannity, Gingrich, Limbaugh and their minions hoping to scare up older white racist fears of "black power" challenging their authority. Very simplistic but it sells. Gordo blasts that shit all day with his links.

    2. Whether you agree or not, I think Hill loses the nomination to Obama, irrespective of the results of the last 10 State contests. They're trashing each other and it's getting worst. Maybe you think both (Clintons) of them have clean hands. I don't. Obama's just as much a politician as they are..apparently better as it seems. I'm not one of those naive, starry eyes kids looking at the high road. I don't like Tom and Daisy as I once did and I sure as hell don't trust them.

    3. Everyone has their reasons for supporting Obama. For most of the SDs, it's self preservation. They think he'll help as a ballot mainliner. Others, I'm sure run the spectrum of rationales, morons included.

    4. I think I understand what Obama was trying to relate with his Reagan comments and I don't think it was praise to him or even a slight to WJC. I will agree RR was bad for our country as was Nixon in each their own ways.

Posted by: Rezdog Author Profile Page | March 24, 2008 12:39 AM

  255. Patsi,
I was looking for this earlier and just found it.
It's what RR Jr, had to say of BO comments.I agree with him.

"They both came along at times when society was on the cusp of change and they are both agents of change," As far as Barack Obama being a similar agent of change, that remains to be seen. But what I do see him saying is that we are in a historical moment right now like the 60s and 80s. And I think he's right. We are overdue for a cultural shift right now."

  256. "Gordo blasts that shit all day with his links."

Gordo does do that, Rez, and dammit, Gordo, stop it!

I guess what is irritating me the most about this campaign, Rez, is this idea that one candiate is pure and the other just the same old same old. I just don't see it that way. These are two tough political animals. And the race is almost tied. I understand the delegate counts, etc. HOWEVER -- this process has convinced me that we Democrats are screwed in the way we do things. Caucuses...some votes counting more in Texas than others. What the hell happened to one vote, one person?

  257. Rez, I still don't buy the RR rationale. I know what he said and why he said it. Two reasons: first, he knew he had to take Bill Clinton out of the equasion, and second, he was hoping to atract California voters.

I think is thing goes ever deeper.

I honestly believe that the SC strategy was planned.

Find any comment relating to race and magnify it. I don't think he realized he had to do it until then.

I really liked Obama a lot -- even though I didn't buy the "no red or blue America" schtick...until the way I started seeing him campaign.

  258. "Very simplistic but it sells. Gordo blasts that shit all day with his links."

Yes, it does sell. Tonight, I've heard 4 right wing radio shows blasting away. Obama would be destroyed in a GE campaign. There is much more about Obama that is not known to most people.

"They think he'll help as a ballot mainliner."

Wrong!!! Dems would be running from Obama as fast and far as possible.

  259. Gordo,

If it's just your RW radio buds then, they are, never were, won't vote for Obama anyway. No sweat, no great loss, you and the likes of Larry Sinclair are fringe.

  260. " There is much more about Obama that is not known to most people."

Well, the where the hell is it? I have many problems with him -- experience, his way of campaigning against Hillary -- but Good God, get off the conspiracy shit. He's a politician, no more no less.

  261. Well, I should have been in bed an hour ago! Tomorrow, my friends....

  262. Patsi,

I try to simply reply to your comments without infusing many of my personal feelings or thinking because i'm just trying to answer your question. I'm fairly private and I generally keep it that way here and in real time. I have what I think are some valid reasons for supporting him and it's mainly along the lines of my sincere desire and interest in seeing our younger generation of democrats get involved, something i didn't do very early.

  263. Later, it's yours G-Man

  264. Rev Wright's statements bothered many in addition to Right Wingers - there was a link up thread about this. Obama would be one of the most beatable Dems ever in a GE campaign. I warned about the Rev many weeks ago - more "dirt" is out there. So much for the Repubs to work with - almost too much. Decisions, decisions - what to use.

  265. Wow, just got back from Toledo and the whole Easter party thing...can't read 600 posts to catch up but the topic seems to be about Obama falling and regaining strength. It's fascinating for sure. Criminy sakes , it's going on towards 4:00 AM and I'm running on fumes...gotta hit the rack!

  266. Just happened across this story on NY Times. This is the root of much of what is going wrong in this country. We have a generation of bullies.

Patsi, I just read that article before I came here. It's disgusting. I was a target as a kid, and let me tell you it stays with you. It's hard to get those tapes out of your head and you find yourself wondering "what the fuck is the matter with me? Am I really such a terrible person?" Fortunately I came back from it because I was too obstinate to let the assholes bring me down, but it's been a long road to forgiveness. And when I read the article, I felt that same revulsion and hurt that poor Billy is going through... The bullies should do time.

  267. I still think Obama offered Richardson a major position within his administration in exchange for his endorsement...

    Obama new politics? What crap.

Posted by: EuroTom Author Profile Page | March 24, 2008 6:08 AM

  268. But having said that, if Obama is the nomination, he's got my vote. I can't NOT vote for the Democrat no matter who it is.
