Hillary's Bosnian Fib Play

| | Comments (246)

Given the endless parsing of Clintonian motives, it would seem fitting to suspect that the great Bosnian fib was not so accidental. It is possible that Hillary Rodham Clinton benefited from her "mistake," as she called her recent assertion of once landing in Bosnia under sniper fire.

Although seemingly embarrassing for her, this episode did serve to provoke repeated airings of video showing Clinton on her trip to Bosnia 12 years ago looking more like a Commander in Chief than like a First Lady. While hardly arriving under a hail of bullets, as she has repeatedly claimed, the video clips do show Clinton in a much grittier setting than anything that might be expected for a purely ceremonial visit.

Not saying this flap was clearly purposeful. Just saying that the visuals are not entirely bad for Clinton. And this could be one of those stories where the pictures register with voters more than the controversy itself.

  1. By the by -- Just as the Clinton team has daily and weekly talking points about message that the campaign strategists want to go out, so does the Obama team.

The latest Obama talking point is for Hillary to drop out lest she "continue to destroy party unity." The biggest talker n this point has been Bill Richardson this week -- said while Obama took his vacation (another strategic ploy -- to convey that he has the nominaion wrapped). Like lemmings to the sea, most pundits have repeated this campaign talking point, giving it an air of viability.

The reality is several issues have emerged to bump the Obama momentum. He's had a horrible month of one negative story after another concerning his relationship with the racist minister preaching anti-American sentiment, his close association with federally-indicted slum lord Tony Rezko, his friendship with convicted bombers Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn.

Hillary Clinton's polling numbers have surged in the last three weeks. She has a 20 point lead in Pennsylvania, and pulled to even in North Carolina. This worries the Obama camp and hence the latest talking point strategy to posit that Hillary Clinton "can't win" therefore she should be a lady and just drop out of the race. If you were dropping like a stone in the polls in two critical states that would be just the ploy to use to undercut your opponent. Put out the lie that your opponent can't win -- so people won't vote for her. Another sneaky sleight of hand tactic from the O-Team.

    Voters beware.

  3. Good Morning Craig, Everyone:

You have an interesting take on Hillary's Bosnia issue and I agree with it. Honestly outside of opposition hatred for Hillary I don't understand why it is such a major issue. We would have to look long and hard going through a list of presidents that have not exaggerated their resumes.

Hmmm sounds like a job for Doris Kearns Goodwin or Michael Beschloss :-))

  6. I lose more respect for Eugene Robinson on a daily basis. He's now trying to spin that Hillary's memory of Bosnia is part of a psycho autobiographical movie in her head.

I will say this: when I was in the Golan Heights during the mid-'90s I stayed one night at a settlement. As I went to bed I could hear bombs going off in the distance. There was no violence at that settlement, but when I think about the trip to the Golan Heights, my only memory is of hearing bombs.

  8. Here's a good story from Mother Jones about Hillary's religion.

"Through all of her years in Washington, Clinton has been an active participant in conservative Bible study and prayer circles that are part of a secretive Capitol Hill group known as the Fellowship. Her collaborations with right-wingers such as Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and former Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) grow in part from that connection. "A lot of evangelicals would see that as just cynical exploitation," says the Reverend Rob Schenck, a former leader of the militant anti-abortion group Operation Rescue who now ministers to decision makers in Washington. "I don't....there is a real good that is infected in people when they are around Jesus talk, and open Bibles, and prayer.""

Read the rest of the 4 page story at link below.

This is some weird stuff if true makes Hillary more dangerous than some Right Wing religious nuts.

You won't find a bigger fan of MSNBC than me, but lately I can hardly bear to watch. Their anti-Clinton bias is painfully obvious, as if they've been saving it up for eight years waiting for another Clinton to make a run for the White House. I wonder, in 2036, if Chelsea runs for president, will those MSM pundits who are still alive bare their fangs once again in a Pavlovian reaction to the word "Clinton"?

  13. Here's how it really is.

The C-17 crews may make only one trip a month to a particular base. Or they may make one trip a year. It's unlikely that they would make one trip a week.

Before they take-off they are given a briefing by Air Mobility Command intelligence people. This briefing would include what type of threat they might experience while taking off or landing. In a hostile environment, such as around Tusla, the threat would undoubtedly include attack by shoulder fired SAMs with a range of a couple of miles to the potential for small arms fire.

Based on the threat environment, the operations people would decide what type of mission profile to plan.

In a case with DVs aboard as well as USO entertainers, it is highly likely they would plan their arrival in anticipation of SAMs being fired, or of small arms fire. Hence, the 'corkscrew' arrival.

The passengers would have been briefed by the crew either before they boarded the aircraft or while they were on the airplane. The briefing would be intended to raise their adrenalin level to the point where there would be instant compliance with any orders given by the crew.

If there was anything really hot going on when they were on approach, the crew would have been briefed in-flight and it would have been their responsibility to either proceed or abort.

No matter how Hillary characterized the threat upon her arrival, I did see a whole bunch of grunts walking around wearing their body armor and carrying their weapons.

It disturbs me when people such as Matthews or Tuckah or Olbermann talk with 'expert' (snicker) knowledge about what she said or what the threat actually was.

She had the courage to go their, and the courage to take her daughter showing her what the world is really like.

  17. Parent not hero portrayed in 'Dreams from My Father'

"In his autobiographical book "Dreams from My Father," Barack Obama paints a heroic picture of his father as having emerged from a poor Kenyan village, where he was nothing more than a simple goat herder, to become a Harvard-educated economist, destined to return to Africa to fulfill his promise.

Unfortunately, the reality is much bleaker than the tale Obama tells in his book.

In truth, Barack Obama senior, Obama's father, was a polygamist who had already abandoned one wife and child in Africa when he met Obama's mother in Hawaii.

After being educated at Harvard, Obama senior returned to Africa, abandoning Obama and his mother, to live the life of a chronic alcoholic who ultimately killed himself in his second drink-induced car accident, while driving drunk on the streets of Nairobi."

  18. After my dog George got me up so early I cruised around reading some blogs and posts. I don't believe I have ever been as demoralized about the future of the Democratic party as I now am. It used to be that the Freepers invaded message boards and spewed their vile right wing ideas with the worst sort of ugliness. They very often used sexual messages to make a point, talking in bizarre terms of gang rapes in prison and simply awful sexist viewpoints about either women or -- men who were Democrats.

The case in point this morning is a couple of places where the discussion had been Chelsea Clinton's "None of your business" answer. These new young "Democrats" -- I'm sure they think they are liberals -- are starting to sound exactly like their Freeper compadres.

If this is the crowd that has been attracted, and who are taking over the party, then THAT will spell the end of the real Democratic party, not whether Hillary and Obama are duking it out in a primary,

They are claiming credit for all of the increases in the younger vote ignoring the increases in 2006 and 2004 and the fact the percentage increase in 2007-8 is the same)

I will vote for Obama if he is the Democratic nominee but I will never forgive the Obama supporters I know who have based their support on lies about either Hillary or Bill Clinton.

  27. Catchy Obama phrases have been used before

"Evidence is accumulating that Barack Obama is an equal opportunity plagiarist, readily borrowing some of the catchiest lines in his campaign speeches and ads from a variety of literary, movie, political and popular sources, all without giving credit or attribution to the original source.

In the 2006 movie "Man of the Year," Robin Williams plays a comedian who gets elected president.

In the movie, Williams gives a speech in which he says, "Red States, Blue States. There [are] no Red States and Blue States. There's only the United States of America."

Obama, in his 2008 Iowa caucus victory speech said, "Because we not a collection of Red States and Blue States. We are the United States of America."

While she may have embellished, puffed up, mis-remembered...whatever it was...it sounds like the situation was tense and I'm sure Hillary would have been briefed on it.

"MRS. CLINTON DELIVERS A 'THANK YOU' TO US PEACEKEEPING FORCES IN BOSNIA
    Published on March 26, 1996
    Author(s): Ron Fournier, Associated Press

MARKOVICI, Bosnia-Herzegovina -- Protected by sharpshooters, Hillary Rodham Clinton swooped into a military zone by Black Hawk helicopter yesterday to deliver a personal "thank you, thank you, thank you" to US troops."

  32. What I heard her say was that a reception had to be moved indoors because of sniper fire. Thats all. Here, and with Matthews last night, you and he make it sound like she said she was personally under fire and had to "duck and cover" as Matthews put it. So, unless you heard something different from her than I did, this is yet again an example of the media twisting and shaping things to suit their own story lines.

    Posted by: Jammer | March 26, 2008 8:50 AM

  33. Katherine: And that was my point on the blog yesterday. It is because many of her supporters are women (and men) over a certain age and of a certain income/education level, that the media can ignore their votes and their will.

David Brooks was on Morning Joe this morning saying that most Democrats support Obama. I think this is debatable considering that he hasn't managed to close the deal. He was supposed to close on Super Tuesday. Then on Super Tuesday II. And guess what? He couldn't wrap it up. He is the Matt Hasselbeck of politics (OK Seahawks fans, back off, this is just my opinion. Matt is not a closer.)

As I said, the Obama campaign and the media have impuned the reputation of beloved figures in the Democratic party (to many). Need I remind everyone that Bill Clinton was the first Democrat to win reelection to the presidency since Franklin Roosevelt? And left office with a 65% approval rating? Now Bill is a racist, maniacial and divisive lunatic who will do anything to get Hillary elected so his dynasty will come to fruition.

  34. Morning all. Linked below is the latest proposal being floated for seating FL delegates -- it's another permutation of cutting the delegates in half. But check out how the perversity of the convoluted proportional rules is amplified even further by this approach. HRC wouldn't just lose half of her 38 delegate margin. According to this story, her delegate lead would shrink from 38 to six. Here's how that happens -- using an example from just one of the state's congressional districts:

"But cutting the delegate total by half would almost wipe out Clinton's lead, thanks to a party rule requiring that a candidate who gets at least 15 percent in a given congressional district receive at least one delegate.

One example is Orlando's 8th Congressional District, where Clinton won with 54 percent to Obama's 29 percent, worth three delegates to Obama's one. But if the state gets only half of its pledged delegates, Clinton would get one delegate and Obama one, because he met the 15 percent threshold."

Whole story is a good read:

Obama needs to get rid of McPeak...the Bill Clinton crack was nothing compared to what is going to start bubbling to the surface about him - he's going to be a liability to Obama on the Israel issue as Obama continues to say one thing about Israel but then surrounds himself with people that say another...McPeak is the closest person to him now linked to anti-Israel /anti-Jewish statements. Eventually he's not going to be able to wiggle away from these anti-Israel / anti-Jewish views.

The article linked also includes some interesting tidbits about the Iraq war...seems to mirror the Power fiasco in some ways too.

It's not getting a lot of mainstream coverage...yet...but they did a little segment on it on "The Race" on POTUS08 yesterday...so it is bubbling.

"The interview of Tony McPeak in the Oregonian has turned into a bigger headache for Barack Obama than first thought. Obama’s chief military adviser told the newspaper in a 2003 interview that the US should keep troops in Iraq for “a century … if we do [the war] right,” echoing exactly the same sentiments that Obama has ridiculed as “a hundred years of war” when John McCain made them. Now Obama has to explain why the former Air Force Chief of Staff blames the Jews for the Iraq war..."

We worship an "awesome God" in the Blue States, and we don’t like federal agents poking around in our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and yes, we’ve got some gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq. 49. Another snipet on Hillary's Jesus group from Mother Jones link posted above.

"When Clinton first came to Washington in 1993, one of her first steps was to join a Bible study group. For the next eight years, she regularly met with a Christian "cell" whose members included Susan Baker, wife of Bush consigliere James Baker; Joanne Kemp, wife of conservative icon Jack Kemp; Eileen Bakke, wife of Dennis Bakke, a leader in the anti-union Christian management movement; and Grace Nelson, the wife of Senator Bill Nelson, a conservative Florida Democrat.

Clinton's prayer group was part of the Fellowship (or "the Family"), a network of sex-segregated cells of political, business, and military leaders dedicated to "spiritual war" on behalf of Christ, many of them recruited at the Fellowship's only public event, the annual National Prayer Breakfast. Chuck Todd just said on MSNBC that the Superdelegates are "worried" she will win the next several states and make their decision "hard." I can't figure out which is worse: The possibility that Chuck Todd is spewing suppositions on national television or that he might be right and that the Superdelegates are a bunch of ninnies (proving again that Democrats don't win because they can't tell a story and may not even KNOW a story to tell.) 56. A little more about who some of the members are.

"Coe's friends include former Attorney General John Ashcroft, Reaganite Edwin Meese III, and ultraconservative Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.). Under Coe's guidance, Meese has hosted weekly prayer breakfasts for politicians, businesspeople, and diplomats, and Pitts rose from obscurity to head the House Values Action Team, an off-the-record network of religious right groups and members of Congress created by Tom DeLay. The corresponding Senate Values Action Team is guided by another Coe protégé, Brownback, who also claims to have recruited King Abdullah of Jordan into a regular study of Jesus' teachings.

The Fellowship's long-term goal is "a leadership led by God—leaders of all levels of society who direct projects as they are led by the spirit." According to the Fellowship's archives, the spirit has in the past led its members in Congress to increase U.S. support for the Duvalier regime in Haiti and the Park dictatorship in South Korea. The Fellowship's God-led men have also included General Suharto of Indonesia; Honduran general and death squad organizer Gustavo Alvarez Martinez; a Deutsche Bank official disgraced by financial ties to Hitler; and dictator Siad Barre of Somalia, plus a list of other generals and dictators. Clinton, says Schenck, has become a regular visitor to Coe's Arlington, Virginia, headquarters, a former convent where Coe provides members of Congress with sex-segregated housing and spiritual guidance."

  59. From page 3 of article.

"We contacted all of Clinton's Fellowship cell mates, but only one agreed to speak—though she stressed that there's much she's not "at liberty" to reveal. Grace Nelson used to be the organizer of the Florida Governor's Prayer Breakfast, which makes her a piety broker in Florida politics—she would decide who could share the head table with Jeb Bush. Clinton's prayer cell was tight-knit, according to Nelson, who recalled that one of her conservative prayer partners was at first loath to pray for the first lady, but learned to "love Hillary as much as any of us love Hillary." Cells like these, Nelson added, exist in "parliaments all over the world," with all welcome so long as they submit to "the person of Jesus" as the source of their power.

Throughout her time at the White House, Clinton writes in Living History, she took solace from "daily scriptures" sent to her by her Fellowship prayer cell, along with Coe's assurances that she was right where God wanted her. (Clinton's sense of divine guidance has been noted by others: Bishop Richard Wilke, who presided over the United Methodist Church of Arkansas during her years in Little Rock, told us, "If I asked Hillary, 'What does the Lord want you to do?' she would say, 'I think I'm called by the Lord to be in public service at whatever level he wants me.'")"

"But the senator's project isn't the conversion of her adversaries; it's tempering their opposition so she can court a new generation of Clinton Republicans, values voters who have grown estranged from the Christian right. And while such crossover conservatives may never agree with her on the old litmus-test issues, there is an important, and broader, common ground—the kind of faith-based politics that, under the right circumstances, will permit majority morality to trump individual rights. The libertarian Cato Institute recently observed that Clinton is "adding the paternalistic agenda of the religious right to her old-fashioned liberal paternalism." Clinton suggests as much herself in her 1996 book, It Takes a Village, where she writes approvingly of religious groups' access to schools, lessons in Scripture, and "virtue" making a return to the classroom."

  87. Below is more on who Obama holds close. Add him to ZBig, Malley, Powers and Rice. And then connect McPeak to some of the garbage Wright and Meeks spew. No, no connection at all.....

    By Aaron Klein
    © 2008 WorldNetDaily

JERUSALEM – Sen. Barack Obama's military adviser and national campaign co-chairman has implied U.S. politicians are afraid of Jewish voters in Miami and New York City and that American Jews are the "problem" impeding a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Merrill A. McPeak, a former Air Force chief of staff, also compared the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist organizations to what he described as religious radicals in Oregon and claimed "born-again [Christians]" supported the war in Iraq to help Israel.

Discussing Middle East politics during a 2003 interview with the Oregonian newspaper McPeak stated, "We don't have a playbook for the Middle East. You know, for instance, obviously, a part of that long-term strategy would be getting the Israelis and the Palestinians together at . . .something other than a peace process. Process is not a substitute for achievement or settlement. And even so the process has gone off the tracks, but the process isn't enough."

    (Story continues below)

The Oregonian interviewer asked McPeak whether the problem in solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict originated with the White House or the State Department.

"So where's the problem?" the interviewer asked.

McPeak replied, "New York City. Miami. We have a large vote – vote, here in favor of Israel. And no politician wants to run against it."

McPeak went on to insist that to solve the conflict, Israelis must "stop settling the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and maybe even withdraw some of the settlements that've already been put there. And nobody wants to take on that problem. It's just too tough politically."

McPeak did not point to Palestinian terrorism or the recent election of Hamas to power as problems impeding an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal.

As a follow-up question, the Oregonian interviewer asked McPeak whether "there's an element within Hamas, Hezbollah, that doesn't want Israel to exist at all and always will be there?"

McPeak responded by comparing the two terror groups to "radical" Oregonians.

"There's an element in Oregon, you know, that's always going to be radical in some pernicious way, and likely to clothe it in religious garments, so it makes it harder to attack. So there's craziness all over the place."

McPeak said there was "some" good will toward peace on the Israeli side, but qualified, "that's maybe the more cosmopolitan, liberal version of the Israeli population – I think there's enough good will there.

"I don't know if there is still on the Palestinian side, because they've been radicalized pretty well," McPeak said.

The McPeak interview circulated on several large blogs yesterday, including the popular Powerline blog, after it was first pointed out in the American Spectator online magazine by Robert Goldberg, a writer and vice president of the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest.

Interpreting the identity of voters in Miami and NYC McPeak had referred to, Goldberg stated: "Translation (as if it's needed): Jews – who put Israel over every American interest – control America's policy on the Middle East."

Goldberg also pointed out McPeak once claimed Christian Zionists were driving America's policy in Iraq to benefit Israel.

Stated McPeak while discussing the Iraq war: "Let's say that one of your abiding concerns is the security of Israel as opposed to a purely American self-interest, then it would make sense to build a dozen or so bases in Iraq. Let's say you are a born-again Christian and you think that Armageddon and the rapture are about to happen any minute and what you want to do is retrace steps you think are laid out in Revelations, then it makes sense . So there are a number of scenarios here that could lead you in this direction. This is radical...."

McPeak is the latest Obama adviser to be highlighted for controversial views regarding Israel.

WND recently quoted Israeli security officials who expressed "concern" about Robert Malley, an adviser to Obama who has advocated negotiations with Hamas and providing international assistance to the terrorist group

Also Samantha Power, who was described as Obama's closest adviser until she resigned earlier this month after making strong remarks against Sen. Hillary Clinton, advocated in an interview investing "billions of dollars, not in servicing Israel's military, but actually investing in the state of Palestine."

Stated Goldberg: "Obama has a Jewish problem and McPeak's bigoted views are emblematic of what they are. Obama can issue all the boilerplate statements supporting Israel's right to defend itself he wants. But until he accepts responsibility for allowing people like McPeak so close to his quest for the presidency, Obama's sincerity and judgment will remain open questions."

  88. A little background info on McPeak aka Skeletor:

Just a little FYI from a long-time USAF pilot, General Merrill ‘Skeletor’ McPeak is probably the most-hated general officer in Air Force history. Seriously, ask any Air Force people who were around in the early to mid 90s and they will give you an earful about this guy. My old Huey squadron used to fly him between Langley Air Force Base and the Pentagon and he was a total dick, completely pissed off that he, a fighter god, had to ride in the back of a smelly helicopter. Plus, he insisted on wearing a helmet hooked up to the comm system so he could hear if anyone on board was talking about him behind his back (thats where the Skeletor name came from, seeing his pinched, skull-like face framed by a big-ass helicopter helmet). Highlights of the McPeak years:

    - Personally pushed new, redesigned, extra-shitty flightsuits, with zippers on the side, frickin’ epaulets on the shoulders and pleats. Nicknamed ‘The Fag Bag’, worst uniform ever, quickly canceled by the next Chief of Staff.

    - Crammed the T-3 ‘Firefly’ down the Air Force Academy’s throat to do pilot screening training with (instead of the reliable and time-tested Cessna 172). After two instructors and two cadets died in back-to-back crashes, McPeak’s retort: “We’re not training dentists to fly their families to Acapulco here”. What an asshole.

    - Finally, McPeak is the one who mentored a certain Lt Colonel named Darleen Druyun through her entire career, finally resulting in an Air Force scandal that is still being felt today (Wikipedia her name and prepare to be disgusted).

So, yeah, if Obama wants to use Skeletor for an advisor, go ahead. The USAF sure as hell doesn’t want him back.

BTW- Darlene Blewhim is the nitwit who also 'blew' Boeing out of the tanker contract.

  92. The Hillary-Bosnia comments are just another example
of the media using a most effective right wing radio
method of constant repitition to create a perception of absolute fact, regardless of the veracity of the issue.

Did Hillary mis-state the Bosnia events, yes, she failed
to add the word "possible" ground fire & "were forced to cut short an event on the tarmac with local children"... "although one 8 year old girl gave me a copy of a poem"..... and we were "hustled off" to the fortified American base at Tuzla. (all at p. 344 of her book). The totality of the events were as she stated them, but that does not play into the goals of a compliant, fawning media intent on their own agenda--currently to undercut all of Hillary's efforts. The same with the repetition that she cannot win, the superdelegates really don't want her, on & on. It remains to be seen whether the voters in the remaining primaries buy into the media spin.

Just like today's spin that she re-introduced the issue
of race to divert from the Bosnia "lie". To us the media
is a transparent, disingenuous vehicle, however, most
do not follow all as closely as many of us. The jury is
still out as to their success.

  96. Obama has assembled Zbig, Malley, McPeak, Powers and Rice. Now please tell me they don't share some similiarities. Is the press going to examine the meme? Given the Boeing mess, I am surprised nobody zeros in on McPeak. In any case, there is also the connection between Wright and Meek's anti-Jewish rants and the spin in foreign policy from his advisors. Remember Power's suggestion to invade Israel and use the military aid in building a new Palesitine? Malley and Zbig's views are well known, so what is holding up the Press from taking on the Obama team's views?

Instead, the turn towards Bosnia. Well, at least Hillary went there. What has Obama done? Has he traveled to talk to families in Darfur? It is a desperate media play to shift focus from Wright and Obama's team of disputatious thinkers.

Heather with regards to this quote:

"You have an interesting take on Hillary's Bosnia issue and I agree with it. Honestly outside of opposition hatred for Hillary I don't understand why it is such a major issue. We would have to look long and hard going through a list of presidents that have not exaggerated their resumes."

At what point will we as an electorate actually use standards to judge these people by? If you did that sort of thing on a job interview, not only would you not get the job, chances are that HR person would email all of her HR friends within the industry to get your ass black listed. Yes I know everyone lies, how about doing it in an environment where you have to break a sweat to catch the person in a lie?

I AM SO SICK OF THIS LAPEL BULLSHIT. I will never be so jingoistic as to wear one or demand my elected officials wear one. I got into an argument with an American Legion type down here about that last week. I asked him why the pin thing bothered him yet he didn't care that the flag was used on napkins or even worse, men's underwear. I think it's more offensive that someone could wipe their ass or blow their nose into the image of the flag...never mind potential urine or shit stains...after I sent him to a local TJ Maxx and Dollar Store to see for himself, he called me to apologize...not only were the items as bad as I described, but they were all made in China too...

"She said that Chelsea was jogging around the World Trade Center on 9/11 and happened to duck into a coffee shop when the airplanes hit. She said that this move saved Chelsea's life. But Chelsea told Talk magazine that she was in a friend's apartment four miles from ground zero when the first plane hit. Her friend called her, waking her up, and told her to turn on the TV. On television, she saw the second plane hit, disproving Hillary's claim that "she heard the plane hit. She heard it. She did."

  108. Yes, Hillary exaggerated her Bosnia story, but how is this anything like Skelator and Zbig, Wright and meeks, Rezko or Auchi, Malley or Powers? These people are close associates (except Malley and Auchi) who helped Obama formulate his thinking and political path. Want to see Zbig back working in the White House or McPeaks SECDEF? How about Powers a Middle East envoy or Malley?

The media is back in business having been thrown for two weeks by Wright. Now they filter and spin again, hoping to make back what Obama lost. MSNBC puts Zbig right back out there counting on the stupidity of the American people to ignore both history and even the distance Obama has put between Zbig and himself. I date the NYT to review the views and history of Obama top advisors. And talk about exaggeration. Was it an exaggeration for Obama to first say he never went with Rezko to see the house Auchi's money would help deliver? Was it an exaggeration to say Obama never was informed of the sanction vote? What do you call his promise to get us out of Iraq in 12 months or that he never heard Wright say nasty stuff during the twenty years of sermons?

There is no balance in media anymore.

In all the events that happened that day, separated from a daughter it wouldn't be unusual for a mother to get the details wrong and have to recant. It's hardly some deep psychological disease.

Ally, that is a legitimate question to raise. People did say in 2000, how can Bush lead the country when every business he ran failed? These 8 years have proven that was a fair question to ask then.

I put my tin hat on yesterday and wondered to myself if Guiliani would have aggressively run against HRC in 2000 if he didn't get cancer? The more I think about how she ended up running against Lazzio, the more curious I get. Same can be said for how the stars lined up for Obama's senate run.

The Red Flag for me was when the news of HRC spending $50 Million on a reelection campaign when she could have spend $500,000 and still pulled the same percent of the vote. She basically ran unopposed and she still spent that much?

Hillary is getting damn near close to unelectable in the fall - meanwhile - the Clinton campaign is trying to spin electability as her strongest argument.

  129. Electible? McCain is going to have fun with Skeletor and Zbig, Malley and Rice when it comes time for policy debates. No wonder Obama is praying that Sadr wins. If you saw Frontline last night and remember what McCain was blasting Rumsfeld for in 2004 and how bad Iraq had gotten, going into the debate with a new Iraqi army, AQ on the run and life much better than just a couple of years ago. Obama is going to have a hard time explaining what he would have done about Saddam. Then McCain can ask Obama if any money came from Auchi who opposed invading Iraq because of the money he was stealing from the food for oil program. When Obama says no, McCain can ask him how Rezko paid for the plot of land that sealed the deal? Electibility? That is why Hillary fares better against McCain.

  131. Ally, et al.

Here are my thoughts about the general election from the beginning of this race. I think my thoughts still hold true and I don't really care about your "sniff test" or the CCCCT (the Clinton campaign commander-in-chief test conjured up by Wolf-boy):

    Who can win the general:

Hillary will, without a doubt, energize the Republican base. This is not up for debate. Republicans state this often and the polls back it up.

Who can convince evangelical Republicans from Iowa to hold their noses and vote for McCain? What will it take for an Independent in Florida to vote for a Massachusetts politician who practices a religion they do not understand? Who can convince a secular Independent voter from Ohio to vote for an evangelical leader of the Christian Conservative Movement?

The answer to these questions, and many more like them, is Hillary Clinton.

The Republicans are divided and whoever wins the nomination will not have overwhelming support in the party. Republicans across the board are much more likely to rally against a return to the Clinton days than they are to rally for one of the several varied candidates they are (almost reluctantly) choosing from. In stark contrast, this is the ideal situation for Barack to come in and sweep up anti-war Republicans and a significant majority of Independents. Obama also continues to attract new voters and he is one of the main reasons behind the record turn outs.

Next, Hillary says she is battle-tested. That a bitter general election campaign is "inevitable." Well it is if she’s involved. Indeed, if it is Hillary vs. any Republican - it will be one of the most knock-down-drag-out political battles in recent memory . . . further tearing this country apart during a critical period for America. Bill’s notion that the mutual respect between Hillary and McCain will lead to a "respectful" debate ignores that the Rush Limbaugh’s and Sean Hannity’s of the world will not be constrained in the slightest from launching vicious attacks on Hillary’s policies and god knows what else.

Hillary argues she is a "known quantity," that she has been vetted and she has been through the Republican attack machine. Ironically, so will Barack after defeating Hillary in the primaries.
But the fact that the Republicans have already used some of the attacks that will be thrown her way during the general does not act as some type of magical cloak that will eliminate the effectiveness of such arguments in 2008.

The GOP will argue that Hillary’s position on the Iraq was has been based polls rather than principle. And they will have ample support. Attacks on the Clintons' scorched-earth style of politics will be raised, reinvigorated by the campaign that has been run against Obama. These anti-Hillary messages could have the American public running to the straight talk of a war hero who has shown great political courage throughout his career.

McCain also holds the trump card on experience. What will Hillary run on in the general without the "experience" argument? Change? McCain will be able to make a more credible argument that by ending the Bush-Clinton-Bush dynasty - he is the true candidate of change. I don’t know about you - but that case will work with plenty of Independents. Especially coming from a maverick like McCain who is lambasted by hyper-partisan pundits from his own party.

Indeed, it is very possible that because many Americans have made clear that they want to move past the political hang-ups of the nineties . . . these familiar attacks against the Clintons will carry even more weight in the current political scene.

The way to beat the Republicans is not to out play them according to the rules of their playbook. Its time to throw out the damn playbook and conduct politics in a way that serves the American people. This is Obama’s strength. He has been a public servant with experience in helping people and making a real difference in their lives. He possesses the intelligence, the judgment and the determination to move America forward. Finally, this is all consistent with Barack’s narrative: Changing – and improving – the way politics is done.

"Our great power does not mean we can do whatever we want whenever we want, nor should we assume we have all the wisdom and knowledge necessary to succeed," the Republican said in prepared remarks a few days after returning from the Middle East and Europe. Since when is fighting for something you genuinely belive in (and not illegal) linked to being a divider?

  145. Hagel said Vice President Dick Cheney and others ‘‘cherry-picked intelligence’’ and used fear to intensify ‘‘war sloganeering.’’

During visits to the Middle East in December 2002, Hagel said, Israel’s top security officials asked, ‘‘Do you really understand what you are getting yourselves into?’’

Hagel said Bush personally assured him that he would exhaust diplomatic avenues before committing troops to Iraq. The senator said he voted for the war resolution based on those assurances, but regrets the vote because it’s now clear that lawmakers were presented with lies and wishful thinking.

Not desparate. I obviously do not think fighting for what you believe in is being a divider. But if Hillary's strategy to win the general is to make the case (1) that Obama is patently un-electable, and (2) that the results of this whole primary process should be cast aside - then I think she is being divisive.

(and - yes I am say some divisive things myself. But I am not a presidential candidate.)

Anyone on the Obama side like to 'splain the electability argument in light of today's Gallup tracking poll - which puts the margins between McCain and Clainton and McCain and Obama at 1 percent, and the margin between Obama and Clinton at 2%, all within the poll's MOE? This does not provide ANY support to most of the divisiveness, electability, polarizing, mobilizing the Repug base, etc. arguments that have been made here.

    http://www.pollster.com/blogs/poll_the_daily_gallup_5.php

And this is hardly an anamoly - it's results have been about like this, at least as to the Clinton/Obama comparison, since early Feb.

Posted by: pogo Author Profile Page | March 26, 2008 12:27 PM

  163. George,
I suppose you try to box me in with McCain because I prefer his foreign policy to Obama (see my comments on McPeak, Zbig, Malley, Powers, Rice and Lake). Then you quote some recent remarks. McCain reflects the view he has always had regarding NATO and our Allies. Are you claiming McCain did not object to Bush psuedo-diplomacy? Where did McCain ever say our allies are unimportant or that Bush has gotten diplomacy right? At least McCain isn't ranting about talking to our enemies...LOL. His remarks are similar to Powel, Cohen, and several other moderates. In fact, our strategy in the past had been to do much of any fighting and for NATO to provide peacekeeping and national building roles. You certainly aren't suggesting that we should have listened to France back in 2002 when they scuttled any chance for smart sanctions? Certainly Bush senior put together a serious coalition so your claim that evil Republicans don't care about allies is nonsense.

George, you want to cast all Republicans as some kind of unilateralists and skip over Reagan's singular success at being a "form of unilateralism", though he enjoyed strong support from our allies. That is your call. I am merely pointing out why Obama will fail. Hillary and most serious Democratic leaders back in 2002 shared a similar view, as did Hagel and McCain. This view hoped for more allied cooperation, international inspections while showing a big stick. Why you would say that McCain is capitulating is because you think McCain is Bush. That is the game Democrats will play. Again, Front line showed McCain blasting Rumsfeld. It showed McCain's strategy along with Rice, turning things around in Iraq. McCain could not take on the WH by himself. His fellow conservatives didn't support him. Instead, in the end he did triumph to promote clear, hold, rebuild and secure the Republican nomination -a feat unmatched by anything Obama has ever done. Hillary does not want Iraqis to fail, nor does McCain. I ask again, how many think Obama hopes that Sadr ruins any unification in Iraq? And should that tell us something about his principles?

Frankly, I could care less about ideology. I want to know what a particular candidate thinks, supports and will likely do in office. If Democrats voted today in mass for their candidate, Hillary would win. Republicans would pick McCain. The question becomes whether Democrats wants to snatch defeat from victory and put Obama along with his endorsements, advisors, associates, freinds and mentors (and the picture these people form) against a well vetted McCain. From what I've gleaned from my fellow Independents, they would now lean for McCain based on all the substance Hillary supporters have posted here. As time goes by, many now see through the rhetoric at what is underneath the Obama campaign. Independents tend to be security minded people looking for real bipartisanism, record and vision. What one Independent told me was that when they heard about Zbig. McPeak or Malley, Rezko or Auchi, Powers or Rice, Wright or Meeks -a strange connection seemed to be there. It was a certain anti-Israel, anti-Americanism (or confused and partisan self-defeating vision). They did not see a connection between Obama's lofty words and his record, advisors or life story. This trend is increasing despite the media slant all my Independent friends (and many Republican and Democratic ones) acknowledge to be fact. They did have a soft spot for the under dog, but that is now Hillary. The racial play by Obama's team also infuriated my Independent friends to no end.

Yep, George, I have never voted for a Republican, but the DNC might end up convincing me and a large part of Ohio, Penn, Florida and Michigan to change their minds this time. The world is far too threatening to place our trust in a mediocre story teller with a scary staff. Sorry about that.

  167. Back to what AP was saying earlier about Methodists. Here is the problem for the Obama camp if they choose to go after her religion: How does it help Obama gets the additional votes he needs to end this thing AND win the general? It's just like Craig said on MOJO about the Ferraro flap. What did Obama gain by going after Gerry? He's already got blacks and young progressives who will agree with him on her "racist" comments. It sure didn't help him with older white women. Going after Methodists won't help him get older white women either.

Even if Obama doesn't touch the Methodists but leaves it as a third rail issue, it is still a loser for getting votes. Just my opinion.

  184. Pogo,

"This thing sounds a bit more than that, but I could be wrong."

Certainly there are totally strange religious movements and some of the members of the Capitol Hill bible study group might belong to one. It would pay to keep an eye on their activites, but the fact that some of them may belong to it does not mean that Sen. Clinton is automatically a member as well. That is why I said it was a logical fallacy: A has something in common with B. B has something in common with C. This does not mean that A has something in common with C.

Sen. Clinton has said that at the height of the Lewinsky/impeachment/right wing nut show, these women gave her strength and support. That sort of kindness can come from a complete stranger as well as a friend and her membership probably means nothing more than the need for a positive environment.

Conspiracies are almost never conspiracies: Coincidence, accident and stupidity are the first places to check and as Ben Franklin said, "Two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead."

  187. As I said, Obama supporters rather pray for Sadr than support the Iraqi government. The anti-Americanism is showing ty, it is all about oil. Iraqis are criminals and Bush is in bed with them. Just move your gear shift up one level and you will be at the Wright speed.

I, like most Hillary supporters express my support to those Israqis and US soldiers facing down Sadr under the government ultimatum. I, Like most Hillary supporters hope stability and a better life comes ASAP to Iraq. I, like most Hillary supporters want an end to Iranian meddling in Iraq and Lebanon and know that people like Sadr need to be contained or eliminated. Hillary and McCain did not keep the US from defeating Sadr when they had the chance. What Obama supporters fail to understand is that the US doesn't make all the rules in Iraq. It is one of the hardest places in the world to bring together and Obama supporters seem to prefer a monster butcher to have kept the Iraqis quiet while he rearmed.

Life is not some vague misty vision. Life is real and full of obstacles. Had McCain or Hillary lead our charge into Iraq after better diplomacy prevailed, Saddam would be gone and the country far less a victim of incompetence.

Oh, and please tell me how we have stolen Iraq oil. Perhaps some prefer the corrupt adminsitration of oil revenues under the UN's watch. Auchi benefitted greatly and of course, we all know some of his Saddam profit went to Rezko who then helped Obama.

I am suggesting that media and Obama supporters are grossly overestimatling their support by Independents in order to beat Hillary on the electibility issue. I am here to say that almost all the Independents I know from Florida, Mass and NY feel pretty much as I do. I also know that the Jewish support for Obama is eroding quickly given McPeaks, Powers, Zbig and Malley as well as Wright and Meeks.

Since I work in construction, I can say that most Hispanics seem to support Hillary and will seriously consider McCain, if Obama gets the nomination. More and more women I talk to are angry as well. So I am here to give my voice before the DNC makes a grave decision: to encourage Obama supporters or other Independents to reconsider.

Why should I vote for Obama? I have forgetten. Hope, change...no I'm being dead serious. Why the F should I vote for Obama? What the hell has he claimed he would do? Get us out of Iraq in 12 months. Bullshit. Talk to our enemies and change their minds? Bullshit. Launch new programs to rescue America? Bullshit, with what money? Tax everyone making over $97.000, cut defense spending?
I mean seriously people, the only claim he makes is that HE IS THE ONE WHO CAN WIN FOR THE DEMOCRATS. Ah the electibility issue.

So I say Bullshit. I make a case that he will lose to McCain. You are all free to disagree.

I stand by my statement is Clinton is trying to downplay the results of the contests thus far (except of course the "big states"). Indeed, she has too!! Because she is losing.

No she is not getting blown out - but again - Obama has won more states, delegates and votes.

I have retracted some statements on certain occasions - but this ain't one of em. So get off your high horse buddy...

  207. Sorry - if I have stopped giving the Clintons the benefit of the doubt....

"We have not, are not, and will not pursue the pledged delegates of Barack Obama," Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson said in a conference call with reporters, in which the Clinton camp was discussing the upcoming contests in Texas and Ohio.

    http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/02/19/680499.aspx

Officially, the campaign says it is not. But the idea keeps rearing its head -- most recently with help from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton herself, in interviews on the campaign trail. Earlier this week, she told the Philadelphia Daily News that pledged delegates "in most states are not pledged."

"You know, there is no requirement that anybody vote for anybody," she said.

"Then in an interview published today, Clinton brought it up again. "Every delegate with very few exceptions is free to make up his or her mind however they choose," Clinton told Time's Mark Halperin. "We talk a lot about so-called pledged delegates, but every delegate is expected to exercise independent judgment.""

For instance, Edwards has not endorsed, so all of his pledges are up for grabs.

  233. "change stripes on the first round and go to BO"

Rez, When I said first vote changes are "frowned upon" and that they are called "faithless", I meant it. People have long memories and you would have to assume they didn't want a long political career. So unless BO or HC have promised them a job (illegal by the way) or they plan to go into private life and don't need clients, a first vote change is not nice.

Also, there is usually one person who heads the delegation and reads out the votes. This is almost always an office holder or state party chairperson or the like. A faithless vote change in the numbers would get a lot of negative attention and might not ever be read.

Politics is soooooooooooooo much fun. I almost hope they do knock down drag out through to the convention.

  235. NEW THREAD

Posted by: Craig Crawford Author Profile Page | March 26, 2008 3:00 PM

  236. Well,
I stopped back in my apartment and saw a few responses. Thanks RR. I must run out again, so I will answer many comments in a single thread. Sorry for the length.

First, I work in NYC where every morning thousands of Hispanics line up outside of buildings waiting to work. Of course, many are illegal but I've had tens of hours speaking to them. I cannot say their views reflect the Hispanics at large, but I am struck by their fgeneral ondness for Hillary and McCain. Even those who can barely speak English seem to note that Obama tried to ruin the Amnesty Compromise. McCain has every right to bring that up. How is this a GOP talking point?

Second, what some might say are GOP talking points probably refer to my position on Iraq, Iran, the Middle East, Obama's national security advisors and the poor judgment in his involvment with Rezko and by association with Auchi who has yet to surface in the public consciousness.

I will spare all of a detailed re-hash, but I was involved in many debates back in 2002 and know what the positions and options were. Several Republicans and many Democrats were supportive of the view Hillary advanced on the floor of the Senate. It is easy for Obama to oppose the resolution on force, but what was his magic bullet? He had no magic bullet and his position was simply a negative, rather than an affirmation of a realistic solution. This is a large part of the thrust of Obama supporters -"not Bush". Front Line showed clearly what our "allies" at the time wanted. France and Russia had no intention to let their contracts slip away and favor a new round of "smart sanctions". There were few Democrats who wanted sanctions to lift and watch Saddam continue brutalizing his people, threaten Israel and his Muslim neighbors and re-starting his WMD programs. This IS exactly what he planned to do and Obama is a bigger panderer than I suspect if he tries to refute Saddam's own cabinet tapes or confessions to Piro.

Now you might call me a conservative for posting this again:

    http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/03/wouldacouldashouldas_on_iraq.html

but unfortunately, only Republicans dare to discuss such things in today's Democratic climate. Above, there is a rational discussion of the options back in 2002. It is the truth to say that despite Carl Levine and some other Democrats who feared Bush more than Saddam, most Democrats supportered Hillary's plan, but agreed that Saddam was not listening and that the resolution would get his attention. Even the UN said that only the credible deployment of US power would make Saddam blink. The article also discusses the likely situation now if we had not removed Saddam. Something Obama never talks about.

I bring this up because this issue is not a GOP talking point. Bush failed to listen to moderate Democrats and even Hagel, McCain and others. Had McCain and a moderate group of Republicans reached out to Democrats to block any rash move by Bush, GWB would have blinked. This was McCain's greatest mistake, but he did have to try and triangulate how to push the adminsitration without destrying any chance he had to win the nomination. We all know about the Kerry offer to McCain. I guess Kerry is a Republican Lite and so too, Gore, for his earlier position on Iraq and Saddam. As Front LIne showed, we spent three years struggling with failed planning in Iraq. I spent hours blasting US policy and wraned about failure if we did not adapt. Even the NYT suggested more troops. Had things gone much better, Obama would be running on what message? It is wrong for him to cast Hillary as having bad judgment when his own solution to Iraq has never been vetted. Hillary represented the best policy to avoid war, or if war was absolutely necessary over principles Powers, Rice, Lake and even Zbig should understand, then we could have created a larger coalition and perhaps, by delaying our invasion, won a no-veto from the French and Russians in the Security Council when Bush finally asked for a resolution on the use of force. Obama never talks about the duplicity of France and Russia and he certainly does not discuss the effect of our invasion on the slow-down of the Iranian bomb and the surrender of Gaddafi -which I should point out was using those huge tunnels for WMD programs. The Democrats had claimed he was not. So is right? It is silly to think that Iran and Gaddifi didn't blink because we invaded Iraq.

As far as Iran, one needs only to review Obama's past speeches. At one point, Obama talked about using nukes on Iran. He has little standing on Iran having told one thing to AIPAC and then failed to vote for or against sanctions. Then he blasted Hillary for her vote on sanctions and LIED about not knowing when the vote was. How incredibly lame of Obama, but did the Press blast him like Hillary over Bosnia?

I won't go on, but will add that "judgment" as defined by Iraq is a ploy by Obama to look smart and qualified. Bullsit. He wasn't there, offered no plan and I rather doubt he could thwart Saddam anow fter restarting his WMD. Saddam wasn't one for talking much. To bring up Iraq, Iran and even Obama's advisors pathetic record on Israel is not using GOP talking points. It is using objectivity from the starting point of US self-interest as defined by decades of bipartisan NSS. Obama defelcts this objection by boilerplate assurances to Jews and national security inclined voters. It is just HIS TALKING points designed to get elected.

And to end, it is not GOP talking points to identify the moment Obama started the personal attacks which he escalated with the help of his wife and supporters into racial attacks. He has tried to gut the Clinton Era and still defends anti-American statements from Wright and Meeks while his media surrogates continue their slanted attack on the Clintons.

All of this puts Obama in a tougher spot in any battle with McCain than Hillary. I suspect this is why Obama hopes Sadr ruins Iraq. Anything to make McCain look bad, even if such a disaster leaves 4000 American lives -a vain attempt at nothing but "a rush to dominate oil supply". This is a horrible mindset and any voter who wishes for such tragedy is in my opinion, disturbingly unAmerican.

How any of my comments are GOP talking points simply because good ammo can be used by anyone with a gun, is an interesting spin by Obama supporters. Yes, Republicans will use such objective attacks on Obama, so I should avoid mentioning them? I should shut up while Obama sports such a pathetic crew of advisors, makes anti-American icons high-lights of his life story, takes money from Rezko that may have come directly from the food intended for Iraqi children (see Auchi), and pretends to have some bold record which he does not? Let us just be honest here and leave it as that.

    1. the media has helped Obama considerably and continues to do so. Media should not advocate, but report unflitered news. It overlooks real racism and ignores rampant sexism both here in the US and abroad.

    2. Obama is full of contradictions, a questionable record and an even more dubious staff. He has lied, pandered and still defends the indefensible.

    3. His rhetoric is far from original (Duval Patrick -also speeches given by JFK, FDR, Lincoln, Malcolm X, RFK, MLK) and the logic that such a divisive Obama campaign and such supra-Liberal support bringing this country together is more than questionable. It is a foolish assumption.

    4. Gone is his pretense of a high road, honesty or even a strategic vision. Can one really imagine a Zbig daughter supporting Hillary? LOL He can't even keep top advisors from saying the dumbest things.

    5. Without the DNC rules which hardly reflect majority will, Obama would have already lost the nomination. Instead, caucuses, open voting, media help and Red State efforts have placed him in the slim lead.

I ask all who think Obama can defeat McCain once his flaws are further amplified through the Republican machine to reconsider putting forward, yet another candidate who will lose. Every one of my objections to Obama appears on the screens of Reagan Democrats, Independents, Hispanics and others. I cannot say how they will swing, but my gut tells me the Democrats are in for a cruel awakening should they thrust Obama out into the light of a national campaign against McCain.

  237. Dear Bear:
I don't quite understand the point you are trying to make or your anger towards me.

Heather...we seem to have a little disconnect because I have no anger towards you at all. My anger was towards those who claim that someone is not patriotic because they don't make outward and often false displays of patriotism.

Let me use 9/11 as an example. Everyone ran out and got flags to hang on their home or do mount on their cars after the attacks. About a week later, I spent a couple of hours a day walking along some of the busier roads in Rhode Island, picking up many of those flags that were in the gutter, tattered and muddy. I was always angered and saddened to see people would ultimately have so little regard for the flag that they would just walk on by while it laid there in filth. Many of those same people would need little prodding to write a letter to the editor demanding that there be a Constitutional Amendment banning flag burning or other "desecrations"

I don't recall if you were using lapel pins as a patriotic litmus test. I didn't think you were...I'll look for that post and reread it.

For the record, neither Bush nor Cheney wore a lapel pin with any frequency until after 9/11...

I believe it was Jamie replying to Warren who said,...

"Every delegate with very few exceptions is free to make up his or her mind however they choose,"

Anyone currently "pledged" to someone who is no longer is the race is free to move to another candidate on the first ballot though as a courtesy they usually follow the endorsement of their original candidate.

    _______________________________________________

    NOT EXACTLY.

When a candidate "suspends" her/his campaign it is legally distinct from withdrawing. They keep their delegates. Of course, any candidate can release their delegates. But until released, pledged delegates remain committed to the candidate on whose behalf they've been elected.

More than half the states statutorily bind their delegates for from 1 to 3 ballots.

So, theoretically, the Edwards delegates could possibly become the fulcrum upon which the nomination rests.

These state statutes binding pledged delegates are what really stops the presidential campaigns from raiding each other's pledged delegates.

Please excuse this picayune digression. It just drives me crazy that newsmedia consistently misreport this.

  240. Regarding the flap surrounding Hillary's "sniper fire" remarks, I am of the opinion that it is somewhat of a problem for her campaign. But although it keeps getting press, I'm also hearing from a lot of pundits that it's not that big a deal, which surprises me, as they usually put the screws to her. And I remember thinking that although her remarks were over the top, the media does keep showing the actual visit, which in its way could be a plus, as it does show she has made international official visits and is evidence toward boosting her experience claim. Time will tell if it's a boost or a bust.

  241. I'll tackle the Hillary/Sinbad '08 ticket for Warren. Let's see....what are Sinbad's qualifications and positives? In 1996 , he was in the movie "Jingle All The Way" with Arnold Schwarzenegger. You may know that Arnold is the Governor of California. Having Schwarzenegger's endorsement would surely help Hillary/Sinbad '08 win California in the general election. Also , if you remember , the plot in "Jingle All The Way" surrounded Sinbad and Arnold's quest to buy the toy "Turbo Man". Sinbad would stop at nothing to get the "Turbo Man" toy. That would also serve Hillary/Sinbad '08 well because we already know that Hillary will stop at nothing to become the Presidential nominee for the Dems. Sinbad was born in Benton Harbor , MI. We all know that Michigan is a crucial state in this election. Sinbad's ties to Michigan would also serve Hillary/Sinbad '08 well. Those are just a few reasons why Hillary/Sinbad '08 could win this election.
