In the News:
- For McCain, Self-Confidence On Ethics Poses Its Own Risks (New York Times): "A female lobbyist had been turning up with him [John McCain] at fund-raisers, visiting his offices and accompanying him on a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself."
- News Networks Bump Clinton Out of Picture (Washington Post, Howard Kurtz): "Craig Crawford, a Congressional Quarterly columnist, said the networks had no choice but to cut away from Clinton Tuesday night after Obama forced the issue. 'That was a definite violation of the etiquette of these election night dramas, where people take turns giving their speeches and don't step on each other,' he said. 'When you break a rule like that, it's a very hostile gesture.'

UhOh. Here's a missive from Mrs. Obama. I hear the BO cynic cops knocking on my door already....
"Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed. "

Interesting mix of posts last. Maybe it's just me but I think Michelle Obama reminds me of Claire Huxtable from the Cosby Show. I mean that in a nice way. Now if only Barack would start wearing nifty sweaters like Cliff Huxtable did. John McCain had an affair? Damn. Is everybody having sex these days? On a final note , I'll be glad when this election is finally over. What will we have to fight about then?

Craig as a kid I too use to watch The Fabulous Moolah, real name Mary Lillian Ellison, on TV. Even went to the old Philadelphia Convention Center with my dad to see her wrestle with the other top male stars of the mid to late 1950's. Later I moved to Columbia, SC and discovered I was in Moolahland. Moolah died late last year at the age of 84. In 2006 she was still wrestling although very sparingly.
HRC like Moolah is a battler and like Moolah she has a number of tactics left concealed in her playbook. HRC's shoulders haven't been pinned down, and she hasn't submitted or been disqualified. HRC if you are going to lose, then lose ugly, as losing pretty is for wimps. Moolah never lost pretty.

Patsi , this is the closest I've been to actually participating in the discussions of a Presidential election. I am a member of a non-political Yahoo! group , that had occasionally discussed politics. But , whenever politics were discussed one of the group's most vocal members got into arguments with a few others. Mainly because they had a different opinion than he did on a few things. One by one people started quitting the group because of this one person. Eventually , this person was *kicked out* of the group. Soon after , all the people who had left because of him returned and many new members joined the group. So , I had always been afraid to talk about politics because it usually ended up starting fights.

Good Morning Craig,
I caught you last night on Dan, and your words were excellent, you hit a home run when you said that one of the reasons for the superdelegates was the open primary states. Here is what happened on Tuesday in Wisconsin.
The vote for the 2004 election in Calumet County was 58% for Bush and 40.7% for Kerry. This primary it was 68% democrat, and 31.9% Republican. Calumet County has usually gone republican in the past elections.
The total vote for Democratic Wisconsin was about 1,098,764 people, (Exit poll 1440), and Rep.402,577 ; total 1,501,341……….D-73.2% to R-26.8%
The state totals for the 2004 primary was Bush 1,477,122, and Kerry 1,488,935 total of 2,966,057 votes. 50.1% democrat, and 49.8% republican.
So either a lot of republicans voted for democrats this year, or the Democratic Party is getting a whole lot of new people.
The exit polls are interesting. I spent some time this morning looking at them and I see a pattern of people with no religion voting against Hillary. And in the Wisconsin exit poll 72% of the 1440 people who voted for BO were republicans.
These exit polls are played on so heavily with the MSM and some of the pundits. Do you know if they have compiled all of the exit polls together somewhere? I couldn’t find one.

Craig, I think your prior post - lose pretty or win ugly pretty much sums it up for Hillary, although I think she certainly still has the capacity to lose ugly. The MSNBC crawl had Bill saying that if she won TX & OH whe would be the nominee - wonder where they got that? All I know is that it came after duplicate crawl entries proclaiming Obama's "landslide" victories in WI &HI. I guess they wanted to make sure we knew that.

To Craig & Linda in Wisconsin (@8:49 am)
I too thought that Craig's comments last night were intriguing. (although not enough time was given to complete the opinion)
Craig it sounded as if you juxtaposed 2 issues confronting the Democratic Party--who can win in November & superdelegates possible selection being based upon not just democratic votes, but independents & republicans--open primary/caucus states.
The looming superdelegate dilemma leads me to wonder this: Should the Democratic Party select
the Democratic presidential nominee by all the votes each candidate amasses & corresponding delegate allotment (which in some instances includes ind & rep) or should the Democratic Party be selecting their nominee based solely upon Democratic votes?
Linda, I believe you posted a link to a study that extrapolated the actual votes by democratic voters to each candidate using the exit poll information & as you pointed out, based upon that study, more Democrats actually voted for Hillary than Obama (at least to the date of that study).
For the record, I believe in a closed primary, if you choose to register in a party, that provides you with the
privilege to select that party's candidates.
Posted by: Coreen | February 21, 2008 10:18 AM
Ruth, while it's tempting, I won't do that. I really really really don't want to look back and think I did anything at all to help John McCain become our next president.
Posted by: pogo

Coreen, good point. I consistently have argued that the best nominating system is a one person, one vote, secret ballot, closed primary system with direct apportionment of delegates, all pledged, to the candidates based upon their vote percentage, and no superdelegates. Kind of makes for a oring convention, though. Oh well, there's always the booze and funny hats.

9/11, sounds to me like Johnny Mac will be able to do anything he wants since the FEC has only 2 commissioners, and isn't likely to get a 3rd & 4th. It would be a great line of attack on his integrity by Obama (making an assumption here) if only Obama agreed to live up to his earlier pledge to use public financing. I know, he conditioned his use of the system on his opponent's agreement to do so as well, and both he and Obama were too clever by a half when both said the same thing and now both are reneging, blaming the other. It would make a great SNL skit for political junkies. But back to your question - it could be very interesting and could result in a suit by the FEC, assuming that the 2 commisioners have the power to initiate one (and I don't believe they do), against McCain seeking to prevent his use of privately raised funds in the runup to the general election if I understand the facts underlying this correctly. By using the promised public financing funds as collateral, he may very well have limited himself. Of course if the Dem nomination fight continues to the convention, it might not be such a devastating blow to McCain after all. I'll need to look into this a little deeper and wee which end appears to be up.

one of the inconsistencies that sorta bothers me about the "shooting the satellite outta the sky" story is that I seem to remember that objects coming back down to earth would burn up on re-entry. Wasn't that the reason for all the tiles on the bottom of the Space Shuttles? Wasn't that why they got so freaked out when some were knocked off on blast off? Maybe this was just a test of the stars wars project. I hate like hell to agree with Glen Beck but the more I think of this with my little pea brain the more it sounds like we are sending a signal to someone.

Coreen,
Craig's comment made the most sense of this mess than I have heard or read so far. Although, I felt bad about Hillary not winning in WI, the numbers made me feel better. As did the guy who couldn't name one thing that the other guy has accomplished.
I don't think that we can close the primaries because people do change their minds. But get rid of those caucus states; as the state of Washington has just proven, they are not accurate. I have heard things about them in Hawaii also.
What is bothering me is all the talk, almost nightly, that there will be riots if Hillary gets elected. Now that is just sick. A part of me feels that this country is going backward. In the end, there will be more sexism and racism than ever before.

I wholeheartedly agree that it should be one vote per person allocated proportionally to the various candidates. But being a true cynic, I believe that each Party designs its rules to ensure the Party hierarchy maintains its control of the process to its advantage.
The current contest throws everything out of balance & I truly do not know how this will be resolved--someone's base is going to be very, very unhappy.
And as said previously--this was supposed to be an election the Democrats could not lose!!!!

Pogo, in my past lifetime I was in the intelligence operations and exploitation business. Here's my take:
--We want the Chinese, Russians, and any other major power to have their own intelligence gathering satellites. The reason why is that it reduces uncertainty as to other peoples' intentions, which can have a calming effect during periods of heightened tensions.
--We want other people's satellites to be less capable than our own.
--We want other people to be uncertain as to the ultimate capability of our satellites. In this case, uncertainty results in caution on the part of potential adversaries.
--Having other people know for certain how capable our satellites are is not in our national interest. We have spent billions upon billions of dollars developing our spy satellite capabilities. Expending $50-M is nothing compared with the potential cost of a compromise in the state of our capability.
--Having potential adversaries say, "Wow, they really can shoot something down!" is good.
--The talk about saving the world from the threat of a hydrazine fueled satellite is just a red herring.
--It would be a foolish act, indeed, for any country to shoot down another's intelligence gathering satellite. It would undoubtedly be seen as a most grave precursor to a general war. Undoubtedly immediate, disproportionately strong reactions would ensue.

Dooty,
Columbia broke apart during reentry from space. You are right that it started over Eastern Arizona and continued to break apart over Texas.
The crash was caused by a structural failure of the orbiter. Upon reentry, due do missing heat tiles, the sub structure of the wing was heated to an extreme temperature which caused it to break apart.

As far as Obama and religion are concerned, some responsible reporter should look at the Senator, his 20 year membership in the church, his relationship with the minister who has on many occasions said or done controversial things, and investigate any influence this may have had on his neighborhood work and what statements by his minister he supported.
Those are legitimate questions and lines of investigation. What is wrong is to assume that just because someone goes to a particular church that they automatically believe every single thing done or said by the minister. Anyone who tries to turn the Senator into a mindless clone or accolyte is failing in their duty to provide accurate information to the voter.

Wendy,
I don't know if I qualify as an adult but I was 18 when JFK was killed in Dallas. I was enrolled at North Texas State University in Denton, Tx about 35 miles north of Dallas.
my point to daryl was the obvious slime about his church and whom he may be beholding to. I am pretty sure that Barak Obama is a citizen of the US of A and that is whom he is beholding to.
as to those who were adults when JFK was in office, if they are like my mom and dad, they would be HARD core Republicans and their remembrance of his administration would be anything short of glowing. So I don't take much from that observation.

Posted by: Katherine Graham Cracker | February 21, 2008 1:17 PM
I just finished reading the Rove article posted earlier by someone. I really don’t like that guy, but I do believe he brings up some interesting points regarding Obama’s vulnerabilities.
Moving into a general election when so far nearly half of the democratic primary voters didn’t vote for him (this number as Linda pointed out may be more since we don’t know how many of his open primary votes are genuine v. republicans or McCain indies trying to influence the democratic primary nominee), he clearly has a lot of people – half the democratic party it appears and perhaps some indies – to convince that he’s the right guy for the job.
He’s going to have to convince me so I don’t write in Minnie Mouse for president. He’s going to have to convince MANY of my friends (hard core democrats unlike myself). He’s going to have to convince others on this list. He’s going to have to try and retain crossover and those indie votes that have no allegiance to any party. Questions like Rove brings up may sway them another way—as hard as that is for hard core Obama supporters to believe and even some of the hard core dems that will vote for any democratic nominee who has a pulse over a republican alternative. Obama is going to have to really start addressing some of the very vulnerabilities Rove outlines in his article.
Rove may be a jerk – but he was a huge part of getting GWB—a proven failure—elected twice.

Would Obama put African tribal or family interests ahead of U.S. interests?
__________
Sorry but this rings of stinging racism to me. And I am not one to through the "racism" charge around much. From what I know and understand Barack Obama is an American citizen. Has anyone seen anything done by Mr. Obama in the Senate that would suggest he puts "African tribal or family interests ahead of U.S. interests"?
Look, I want Hillary to win! But this route is a recipe for disaster. And it just seems so patently unfair. If someone can find examples of Mr. Obama doing things that are contrary to American interests, and especially because of his African roots, I'd like to see the evidence. Going down this route is very dangerous and slippery.

Jamie I thought of you as I watched MSNBC this morning. I was laughing soooo hard at Joe and Mica and Matthews with the grave looks on their faces as they picked apart detail by detail the McCain story - shaking their heads at the tabloid nature of the story.
This is from the same three yahoos that laughed and laughed and kept saying Bill Clinton got angry and popped a guy in the face (while they showed a clip with no audio so hard to tell about his tone and no proof on the tape that WJC popped him).
Then they had the same smirks on their faces as they showed video of the guy (who clearly may have some problems) talking about Clinton popping him in the face...again...no proof. And several people, who clearly don't have emotional issues who witnessed the event all say it didn't go down that way, Clinton wasn't mad and Clinton didn't hit him. As with the McCain story...they left out the parts that would have given an alternative point of view to the incident.
This morning - with those grave looks of concern on their faces - they lost A Lot more credibility in my eyes - which puts them way down in the negative numbers now.

It has always amazed me that people deal with sudden, extreme disaster with humor. I heard the first joke in seconds after it was known that Challenger had exploded.
I was working at the U. S. Chamber of Commerce and Christa McAuliffe was scheduled to speak there following the mission and an appearance on the business program. The staff was on the BizNet floor watching the feed when the explosion occurred.
The gasp went from the front to the back of the crowd as the full impact of what had happened sank in, and then a man at the back said, "She could have just declined the interview."

Heheheh Bear, I actually used my political organizing skills to create a grassroots letter writing campaign to get AW back on the air on KING -5 in Seattle. We finally prevailed, I got Victoria Wyndham and Charles Keating to come to Seattle's ACT Theatre and I was then invited to the set of AW and put up in the Hilton Hotel in NYC courtesy of Victoria Wyndam. And Bear, I think it's AWESOME you knew that show. It's long gone but the strange thing about soaps, if you get hooked, the characters become pseudo-members of your own family.

Tylenol, I bought my first VCR because at the bank i worked at, the guys protested me having the TV on during my lunch hour for the soap in the men's lounge, and I wasn't allowed in the girls lounge. LOL... I remember it was a TOP loading Fisher and it cost over $700 back in like 1980 or 81. When AW was off the air in Western Washington, a friend of mine in Minneapolis would video tape and send episodes to me, which I would watch and then send to someone else, who would send to another and another and then go back to Minneapolis. It's crazy, but you know, being in the studio was AWESOME... I still have pictures.

Yeah, questionning whether Obama's first loyalty would be to his church (which regardless of the lack of a meritorious basis for the question sounds wierd and extreme to me) is silly, there is no basis from anything Obama's said or done of which I am aware to ask that question, and it's probably racist at some level as well. Of coures it's not that far removed from the questions asked about Huckabee and his Baptist minister background and Romney and his LDS membership or JFK and his Catholocism. The only real difference I see is that Obama is black and there is a fairly close tie to Africa in his church. Racism aside, the question that could at one time have been legitimately asked of a candidate(and I do not mean any particular candidate here) is whether someone who's a member of a religious sect that is not in the mainstream of religions in the US will let their beliefs shape their presidency. Of course, JFK provided the model answer (although I think it is odd that Catholocism was not considered mainstream enough in 1960 for that question to go unasked). I believe that absent some sign that a candidate wouldanswer first to their church, then to their country, the question is not legitimate and is a ruse for an underlying bias.

"So either a lot of republicans voted for democrats this year, or the Democratic Party is getting a whole lot of new people."
Linda~in~Wisconsin 8:49 AM
I think the later is correct.
"Exit polls showed the makeup of the Democratic electorate on Tuesday was similar to 2004. On Tuesday, Democrats made up 62% of those who voted in the Democratic primary, independents 28% and Republicans 9%.
The difference between 2004 and Tuesday night: the number of voters on the Democratic side of the ballot."

With BO on the ballot, more new voters are coming into the process.

Pogo,
If you set aside any preconceptions about the possible anti-semitism preached by the man in addition to some of his other rather extreme positions, all he is doin is telling African Americans to do what other minority groups have done upon entering this country until they could assimilate: It didn't matter if the group was Polish, Irish, German, Eastern European Jews, and most recently Asian:
Buy and support your own businesses
Encourage marriage within the community
Make loans to your own people
Act as a mentor to children
Encourage education
The difference is that AA have been here from the creation of the country and a lot of this message must have sounded like going back toa militant "separate but equal" both members of an older generation that had worked so hard for integration and to the white population who believed improvements had happened and saw these "pride movements" as a rejection.
It is a fine line between an angry militantcy and an enlightened self interest. Let's hope at some point we finally get it right.

Lots of blurry lines out there, jamie. There certainly is nothing like that in this case, thus my sarcastic comment about Michelle's dress.

I predict that - absent a Clinton miracle - Obama will win TX and/or OH - and the race for the nomination will be over.
Clinton supporters will begin to see Obama as a potential President - instead of an opponent - and they will begin the gradual process of learning about him and ultimately most will support him. This will be assisted by a great exit speech by Hillary herself. She will point out many similarities with Obama and will rally the troops against the GOP.

Pro-Clinton 527 Prepares For Ohio, PA and Texas
http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/02/proclinton_527_prepares_for_oh.php
Allies of Hillary Clinton plan an expensive, stealth campaign to buttress her standing in the must-win states of Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania.
They're canvassing Clinton donors for pledges of up to $100,000 in the hope of raising at least $10M by the end of next week. The money will be placed in the account of a political committee organized under section 527 of the tax code
A Democrat who was briefed on the project said that Pennsylvania attorney William A. K. Titelman is leading the effort to solicit money. Titleman, who raised money for Gov. Bill Richardson's presidential campaign, has not contributed money to Clinton. He did not respond to an e-mail seeking comment.
By law, the 527 cannot coordinate its activities with the Clinton campaign, although at least one major Clinton donor with direct ties to the campaign said last night that the effort was an open secret among donors

Is that just Clinton supporters that need to learn about him or a vast majority of his own supporters that need to learn about him? Appears from what I'm seeing most don't need to know AND in fact don't know much about him to support him? (present company excluded of course)
What about those of us that know plenty about him and still can't support him?
My personal observation is that the less most know about him, the easier it is to support him. The more one knows about him the harder.
I do think many democrats will in fact vote for him giving him the anything but a Republican vote - like I said earlier - any democratic nominee with a pulse.

The real problem is that attacks against Obama will not win Clinton the nomination. Why doesn't she just focus on trying to improve on her OWN message?
If Clinton does not right her sinking ship and win on her own merits - but instead sneaks into the nomination by torpedoing Obama's campaign - the Dems are in serious trouble in the general.

Sheila, I've been getting at least one or two mail solicitations a day from the Clinton campaign and its local affiliates. And, then there are the email pleas, as well. Thank goodness our calls are screened..
Sooner or later the campaigns have to figure out that, at least in my case, they don't need to ask for funds, that I'll seek them out. They could sure save a bunch of stationery and stamps.

Obama has shamelessly used 527's in every contest
Edwards cried foul yesterday, comparing these ads to the TV ad local SEIU chapters ran on Edwards’ behalf in Iowa shortly before its caucuses. At that time, Obama insisted that Edwards should denounce the ads publicly, adding that Edwards’ former campaign manager ran the organization coordinating the ads. Edwards did denounce the ad, which only mentioned the former North Carolina senator's health-care plan in a positive light; it didn’t mention any other candidates.
In separate statements yesterday from Edwards and senior adviser Jonathan Prince the Edwards campaign called on Obama to denounce the Nevada ads. Obama spokesman Bill Burton responded last night: “Sen. Obama believes, and has said clearly, that campaigns should fund themselves and discourages supporters from spending outside the campaign. But no one should be confused about the effort that was run on behalf of John Edwards in Iowa. In that case, it was not the independent speech of individual union members, each contributing small amounts to amplify their voices. It was a special project of outside donors funding a massive 527 effort run by one of Edwards’ top political lieutenants.”

I will admit that Obama has played political games - he has to. If he did not - he would not get the nomination or the presidency. But I don't think that completely negates his message about attempting to change the politics of Washington. You have to change the system from within.
He speaks about tamping down the partisan politics of the past, he has set records in terms of raising money with small donors instead of fat cats, and he has inspired a ton of people who hated politics to actually care this year. A few political tricks here and there do not wipe all of this out.
But more importantly, people who watch NASCAR instead of MSNBC and CNN will NOT vote for Clinton.
This may be because they are "stupid" "sexist" and "uninformed" - but their votes count just the same in the general election.

Warren:
I agree - one foot in and one foot out (Billy Bragg).
I don't see Clinton claiming to be different - she simply says she knows what it takes to win. When confronted with lobbyist and PAC accusations - she shrugs her shoulders - that's what it takes. She's a fighter, understands the system, is not trying to sell everyone on some illusion of change, she simply knows how to get things done and has been praised by colleagues in the Senate on both sides of the aisle for her ability to work with others. So much for he's the only uniter argument.
Obama does it too trying to twist and turn around the lobbyist and PAC issue I dont take it their familes give it to me so that's not taking it - but my PAC is trying to buy superdelegates (so WHAT Barack - just shrug your shourlders like Clinton does).
I know what I get with Hillary - I have NO illusions about her.
With Obama it's all empty words that are meaningless to me as I see him say one thing and have done or is currently doing another.
Believe it or not I don't have her on a pedestal - I just know she's the one to get it done.
Perhaps you can point me to a poll that shows that NASCAR voters will vote for Obama - I know NASCAR voters and they're not voting democrat. But I haven't seen any national numbers on NASCAR Moms and Dads 4 Obama. I'm glad however we are adding them as one of our major voting blocks that we have to take into consideration when choosing our nominee. Makes perfect sense to me.

Much of Obama's support is "soft". The Repubs will destroy him! My problem with the Clinton campaign is that they have been so easy on Obama. I understand why - about Dem party unity (not turning off the black vote needed in Nov). The Obama campaign has been far nastier-played the race card with the help of MSM. Hillary's surrogates should have used "brass knuckles" on Obama-then we would see just how tough he is in a real fight. This has been a wimpy campaign for Dems and Repubs. But wait until the General. Hillary and McCain are both tough, Obama is a pampered weakling.

Neither Hillary, Obama or even McCain compare to the incompetency of Bush.
And like I said, there are plenty of Obama supporters who have kicked the tires just as you suggest - and we still support him.
People keep saying - Bush won because he was the candidate you would want to have a beer with - so we need to completely eliminate this as a means to elect a President.
I agree Bush has been a nightmare - but that does not eliminate one of the most time-honored traditions of picking a President. What this gets at is - do you feel the candidate can relate to you. That will always be important to people.
Hillary has been one of the most famous women in the world and has lived in the bubble that creates for the last 20 years. She might be dead on with respect to certain policies - but she does not connect with a large part of America.

the Star Telegram will have a page with all the voting places on March 3rd or 4th. Most will be school gyms or churches. If you have the orange voter registration card it will have your location number and then you can look in the paper and find your location by that number. But you really don't need the orange card to actually vote because your name will be in the big book that the election workers have. A drivers license is all you need to prove who you are.
From what I have read today after the polls close at 7pm you can return to the same voting place and that is where the caucus will be held.

For all those here who are planning to vote for McCain or sit out Nov. if HC is not on the ballot:
From the John McCain website:
Overturning Roe v. Wade
John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat.

'That was a definite violation of the etiquette of these election night dramas, where people take turns giving their speeches and don't step on each other,' he said. 'When you break a rule like that, it's a very hostile gesture.'
Question: How many other candidates in the TV age have behaved like this? Any names?

At the risk of being stereotyped, I know at least one NASCAR viewer who also watches MSNBC & CNN who plans to vote for Hillary in the primary and Obama if he's the dem nominee in Nov. I wouldn't make quite such broad assumptions. I don't know 2, however.
Apparently, with the 2 candidates being less than 1% apart in votes thus far, Barack doesn't connect with a large part of America, either.

If anyone cares to look into McCain's life story, you'll find that he is really not a nice guy. A rage filled troublemaker all through his life. A documentary, apparently approved by him, was released not long ago that underscored many of his problems. Things he should not in any way be proud of, but somehow seems to be, Real behavioral issues. Look how he met (while married) and married Cindy, a much younger hot blond. Hmmm...see a pattern? He's a lying politician "I did NOT have sexual relations with that woman!", just like the majority of them. I have no doubt that he had a relationship with this woman. Maybe cigars or the real mccoy, who knows. If he did, well what can you say. If it was done because it aided her "positions" in her capacity as a lobbyist, then possibly it was done because of other "positions". That's the bad part, more than just a possible fling. Although, if you are supposed to be some kind of moral authority, then you should refrain. Yes, of course, he behaved admirably during his POW experience, but that doesn't put him above all the rest. It doesn't make him better than the rest of us, only in the wrong place at the wrong time.

polls? Look a little more closely at the polls they averaged - which is not particularly sound statistically at any rate. Pollster averages the last 5 - throw out Zogby, which is clearly an outlier, just as the Gallup poll two weeks earlier was, in the other direction, and it's much closer than the 3.7% spread reflected there. And I'm sure I've seen you disparage national level polls in the past - oh, but wait, that's when they favored Hillary, isn't it. But since you're so enamored of polls all of a sudden, go click on those TX, OH & PA dem polls at Pollster. But get out a box of Kleenex.
And it all depends on where you go, doesn't it?

I was referring to the popular vote totals thus far - and my memory, being bad (and skewed I'm sure by my uncontrollable Clintonista mentality) got it wrong - Barack has gotten a whopping 1.8% more of the popular vote so far. More than half the folks who've voted so far did not vote for him or her, so drop the arrogance.

I just played the new video, great stuff!
Exposing Obama as a phony will be easy to do if HRC takes that route, as Craig speculated she may do...just watch him promising all this goodie goodie Shangra-La the US will be when he takes office.
He has to appeal to young folks because anyone over 55 has heard this all before...but even Jimmy Carter never promised outlandish gifts and avenues to easy success as does Obama.
Phon-eeeee, I say.
Obama is Jekyl and Hyde...after sweet talking like a big presidential sugar-daddy, he then sternly turns and promises to be tough to anyone who looks cross-eyed at the US. He'll invade and bomb with the best of'em, by god!
What a Wonderful World it Would Be.
Don't know much about Executive Branch
Don't know much about the Pentagon's stance
But I do know that it's mine to take
And if bullshit masks that I'm a fake
What a Wonderful World, My D.C.

Tiptoe,
I find it to be an example of the superior level of organization of his campaign compared to Mrs. Clinton. There are 59 events within a half hour of my zip code. These are all private individuals hosting supporters and would be supporters. In some places they will sit around and sing kumbaya, in other places, they will make phone calls in support of the candidate.
HRC doesn't have anywhere near the number of similar events coming up, though you can hang out at the Fort Worth Chili's with them to watch the debate, meet Henry Cisneros or see Sophie B. "Damn I wish I was you Lover" Hawkins at the Dallas LGBT this weekend...

Very funny moment on "Around The Horn" tonight on ESPN. They were talking about the NBA MVP race. Some journalist said the race was over , Lebron James was gonna win it. Tony Reali asked Woody Paige for his thoughts. Paige said. "Over? Was it over when Brazil invaded the Falkland Islands?!" Tony Reali responded with "It was Argentina , not Brazil , Woody." Woody was the first person kicked off tonight. Reali said , "It was over for you when you said Brazil." Woody closed with "Don't cry for me , Argentina."

"Turnout on the first day of early voting was up all across Texas, according to initial numbers from the Secretary of State's office. But Houston and Dallas were off the charts -- the numbers show a 10-fold increase over 2004. In Harris County four years ago, only 728 people showed up for the Democratic primary on the first day of early voting. Yesterday it was 9,243."

"But it is a serious distortion to say Obama wants to "attack Pakistan," as President Bush did (((McCain didn't say that..please/my commetn))), and an even more serious one that he supports "bombing Pakistan," as McCain did. (Indeed, all Obama said was that he would "act.")
For the U.S. to bomb Pakistan would essentially be no different from the U.S. bombing Mexico or Great Britain, two other allies" Fact Check
So Fact Check has become a tool. I suggest everyone reads Obama's August speech which Fact Check did not post.. Obama says he wuld pull our resources and materials from Iraq (clearly troops and weapons)and put them into the "battle field of Afghnaistan and Pakistan". He talked about all the terrorists who operate in Pakistan and striking them when there is actionable intelligence which was, at the time already Bush policy. Remember the strike on a terrirst school? Another strike on a wedding party was decried by the Left. So Obama clearly talks about striking thousands of terrorists in Pakistan though his advisor Rice now says he meant only in border areas. Well we all know they are also right up the Kyber Pass.
Fact Check is now covering for Obama while the NYT, who had their McCain story when they endorsed Hillary and McCain., run it now...LOL They didn't run the story then? And they surely knew he voted twelve times against the interests of the lobbyist. What a crock. So the NYT endorsed two candidates they attack which should make it clear to what extent the Liberal Press (and I'm a Liberal) has been co-opted in a partisan struggle to hit the Republicans and promote Obama. Bad journalism period.
Bhutto's husband (a crook) and Sharif ( a wonder) shake hands and tell Obama where he can put his missiles and bombs...LOL Give Zbig a chance and he'll do for the Shah and the people of Iran, what he'll advise Obama to do to Musharraf and the people of Pakistan. Good job. Carter Redux on a hope and promise......
