As Super Tuesday returns roll in, here are a few shortcuts for predicting how this long night could end up:
DEMOCRATS
Massachusetts -- Can the Kennedys deliver their home state to Barack Obama? Winning here would be sweet revenge for Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Missouri -- Since 1956, the “Show Me” state has picked the winner in every general election – a primary win here goes a long way toward showing electability.
REPUBLICANS
Georgia -- Mike Huckabee’s surprising strength is not only blocking Mitt Romney but boosting his case to be the GOP running mate if John McCain wins the GOP nomination.
New York -- The campaign's most business friendly candidate, Mitt Romney, should be a natural in the nation's financial capital. But a McCain win here could begin to clinch the nomination for the Arizona senator.

Count the states for Reps; count the delegates for Dems. The former has winner take all voting while the latter divvy up the delegates according to congressional districts and other formulas.

so I probably did go too far with my negativity. I apologise for that. Rez you are right. Last time Washington state went democratic was 1984 during the Reagan/Mondale dual. I was so sad when Mondale lost. He is from my home state. At least Minnesota stuck by him, albeit barely. In 72(?) McGovern even lost South Dakota but maybe won Massachusetts?

Most of those charges, repeated endlessly on talk radio comes from the rampant right. When actually asked for Proof that she is mean or viscious, the silence is deafening.

Jamie,
I'm not going to change your mind about Hillary, and I don't intend to. In fact, I don't want to. You are entitled to your opinion. But when left wing tools like Stephanie Miller say Ms. Clinton can be bitchy, I can only think she didn't get that reputation from the right. And if you trust nothing that Tweety says (which is probably good judgment), you need to question when he says Ms. Clinton is really lovable.

| February 5, 2008 9:01 PM
Ping, you are kidding right? regarding McCain and Clinton? Just on the aspect of social issues it's night and day.
On foreign policy I don't think Hillary has been supporting the war. She supported a resolution that gave the President the authority to go to war IF the intelligence supported it. This vote was after 9/11 when everyone was absolutely freaked about terrorism. I don't think Hillary expected the WH to interfere with the intelligence agencies to alter their reports to make the case FOR war.
Hillary was in a no win situation here. Edwards and democrats were saying she should apologise for her vote. But if she did she would have appeared weak (a female stereotype). She couldn't do that. Plus, she voted for it on good faith that war would have been the very last possible option, NOT the first one.
Ok good night... thanks for the good news on NJ... Let's hope Hillary takes MASS too, it would make my (night?).

My fav is the Latino vote...we do not call it Latino here...it is Hispanic...and Colbert does a great Stefano with his chicas, but they are more Puerto Rican than Mexican. Quick update from the Intrade.com Presidential Futures Markets...
With an hour prior to the closing of the California polls, Clinton's probability of winning has just moved ahead of Obama. Starting 17% behind at the opening of trading today, she is currently just moved above of the margin of error.
For a futures market race to be this close this late in the voting emphasizes how close the race is in the eyes of the market. It could be a long night in California, but the market momentum has been shifting toward Clinton throughout the day.

I know me being in Southern Missouri doesn't put me in an area that is highly exposed to political input. We never see candidates here and frankly the biggest exposure to the election process here is the nightly news (very definitely mostly nbc) , political commercials and what little people get from the local newspaper (ha!) and the occassional talk show.
But honestly-----I only know of a few people who were for Obama. Almost everyone I know were for Hillary (after Edwards departure). Dems I mean. I was pretty sure she would end up well here.

Hmm..
Huckabee/McCain?
I think it was Shuster on BONBC who thought the Huckster would do well.

Bear...by referencing "black" belt, are you introducing race into this discussion?
Just curious.

NOTE TO MIKE HUCKABEE
Please stop saying you will put the IRS out of business. We all know that is not true. You need to stop talking, while you're ahead.

re: declining dollar
In order to help you pay off your massive debt and stabilize your currency, we have worked out a repayment plan...
* The EU wants Florida
* China wants the rest of eastern seaboard
* Mexico wants California (back)
* And the Saudis want all your blond virgins between the ages of 10 and 12. (Yes, that includes the boys).
