Precincts Reporting 91%
Clinton 41%
Democratic presidential frontrunner Barack Obama’s commanding lead in Tuesday’s Wisconsin primary prompted the Associated Press to refer to his opponent as the “fading” Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Although Clinton did not campaign in the state until the last several days, her team used Wisconsin as a last-minute test market for several attacks on Obama in hopes of settling upon a winning strategy against him. But his lopsided margin – a 17-point lead with 91 percent of the precincts reporting – suggests that Clinton must keep trying if she is to find a way to stop his momentum before the March 4 primaries in Texas and Ohio.

Hi, dog...Have we arrived in an echo chamber???

So, they mentioned that BHO is not using teleprompters tonight...right?
Is that why he is finding it necessary to explain the voting process to the crowd?
He is being so inspirational...I think I have to faint....(thud)..................
Linda, the more I learn about the voting process in Texas, the more I need people to explain it because its plain stupid...
I know in the last thread people were discussing the Obama speech timing.
Word from the Clinton campaign is that they thought it a savvy political move. It seems the two candidates had themselves a tacking duel and Obama was the first to the opening mark. Just another example of how he has run the better campaign.

I thought his behavior was abominable, but he didn't deserve to be impeached nor did the nation deserve to have everything important to the welfare of the country set aside for a right wing show trial.
He was in a position of power and respect. A young, rather ditzy young woman threw herself at him. His brain immediately moved south and he took advantage of the offer. Apparently this has been a habit in his life and I've met more than one politician with the same fault.

I have a question about death issues that I need someones help in understanding...
How can Republican's claim to be pro life, yet favor preemptive war, the death penalty and some will argue they are against programs that would improve the chance for poor people to have a better life.
How can Democrats be in favor of abortion rights, assisted suicide and yet not allow the death penalty? This is the position I can better understand because it can be argued that the government should be killing people but I would like to know how these groups justify their positions.

Jamie,
to expand on your post, if Monica was less chubby or if she looked more like Cindy McCain, Clinton would have been a hero of the old boys network. I am convinced they impeached him because they felt that in his shoes they would have pulled better looking women...or men in bathrooms, to have had an affair with...

Gordo, I'm not sure. If it was that long article about the Trilateral Commission recruiting Obama with Duval as a backup, conspiracies are rarely conspiratorial as much as they are self interest.

JESUS, Bear, no offence and I know it's a matter of taste/opinion/personal preference and whatnot, but Cindy McCain looks like one of those plastic-surgery-addicted living mummies (picture Janice Dickenson in another 5 years or so)...and I say this as a gal with serious dykey tendencies and really NO preferences. Monica >>>>>>>> Cindy any frigging day o' the week!

Cindy over Monica in a landslide.
Word on the street is that Cindy McCain is a pretty formidable figure. Much better resume than Monica and her book deal.

I was just reading Mrs. McCain's wiki page...she hasn't had an easy time of it...what is with political spouses having addiction issues? That is reason enough to keep your spouses out of politics...
Also, I didn't realize that John McCain was on one the Keating Five. Craig, do you think that is way to old to be used against him in the general election?

I don't limit myself when it comes to admiring women...I think I need to go to bed now because I just realized I like my women the same way I like my chicken...and that is wrong...just wrong from a karma stand point to say the least...so im gonna go say a quick our father, a hail mary...

go obama! the democrats needs to hammer cindy mccain adulterous life with john mccain, taking a john from a crippled woman. they also should focus on her drug addiction and the fact she stole drugs from a medical company she worked for.... since cindy is going after michelle obama, they need to to target her. people in glass houses shouldnt throw bricks

Bear,
mccain is flip-flopping too much lately, he cant be trusted. i think mccain will be dirty and will do whatever to get elected. i am sure obama wont directly do it, but moveon or somebody need to address mccains adulterous affair after he got back from the war. cindy has a very ugly past and one can easily see how john got her out of trouble with the law. was that illegal in what john mccain did, to keep cindy from going to jail?

I think the Hillary and the Huck should bag their campaigns and use the rest of those millions to write checks on behalf of all their supporters to The Human Fund.
They can still have one last big party together. Mike can play the gee-tar, Bill can play the sax, and Hillary can make sure everyone does not drink too much.
And then we can all focus on the general election.
Posted by: warren | February 20, 2008 2:06 AM
Obama promised us all kinds of sugar plums in his continuing fairy tale...who the hell does he think he's addressing, does he think some of us never heard this stuff before? He actually promised those making less than 50 grand NO INCOME TAX!
Well no itemizing here...you saw him.
I mean, i love the idea...but none of the stuff he was throwing around will ever happen.
I am sick of him and his nonsense.

John R.
Time after time in this primary season negative ads have not worked. They did not work for Romeny and they are not working for Hillary.
The Dems have a negative debate that hurt both candidates and so did the GOP. This ain't the ninties anymore dude.
Posted by: warren | February 20, 2008 2:09 AM
Obama promised to end the war, saying he has been against it forever. Sure he has.
Then he bascially said he'd invade anybody who looked cross-eyed at us---in a heartbeat...a definite re-emergence of his hostile attitude against Iran.
He then promised to give the world to all veterans, "take care of them". Sure he will. Nobody else ever has been willing to tackle that VA juggernaut.
Free education for everybody...$4,000 tax credits for every student per year... on and on he promises everything and anything. Cheers and more cheers.
Well, a lived life has taught me nobody gets anything for nothing, and I don't believe a word of Obama's bulllshit.

You could move anywhere and let me be the first to encourage that . I 35 moves north also and I 20 moves east and west of the great state of Texas.

Not sure where WA ranks nationally in terms of teacher salaries, but the attached link is the salary schedule for teachers in my local school district. We have a statewide salary schedule, so it has to be very close to the salary schedules for other WA school districts. As you can see, a beginning teacher with a Bachelors earns a base salary of $32,746 (and is obligated to earn many additional college credits in order to maintain their credentials). The salary schedule tops out at $61,720 - a salary level that requires a minimum of 16 years experience plus a Masters degree and 90 hours of coursework beyond the Masters, or 16 years experience and a PhD.
Whomever posted that the average salary in their area was over $60K is either from a very well-paid area, an area that has ONLY very experienced and well-educated teachers, or that average is affected by something other than take-home pay. Perhaps it includes the value of benefits such as health insurance, etc.

While I agree that "people in glass houses shouldn't throw bricks", who in politics is completely clean and pure, and how do the activities of the spouse of a presidential candidate fit into all this? Not jumping on the Cindy McCain bandwagon here, by any means (and ya, you best believe I know that if Cindy was the wife of a Dem, she'd be the topic du jour on FOX News, Glen Beck, et al, talking about her past drug use and whatnot)...the point is, do we now, and have we always, hold/held our Presidential candidates and their spouses to a higher standard, or are we THAT full of shit? I mean, really...I can't possibly be the only one picturing Bubba C in Amsterdam with a bong in one hand and a titty in the other when he said he didn't inhale, can I...?
It's the hypocrisy that gets to me, folks. The HYPOCRISY. Just come on out and admit it already. None of us are angels, and the ones who claim to be so are liars.

Warren -- do you honestly think talking about candidates and candidates wives in terms of who's "hotter" is cool?
Posted by: Patsi | February 20, 2008 3:35 AM
Patsi:
I think it is important in politics to be conversant in as many dialects as possible. If that means sounding like a dumb frat boy (btw, no frat for me), a consdecending Clinonite, a bleeding heart liberal, an anarchist, a cold hearted capitalist, a hawk or a dove and perhaps even (god forbid) a Republican . . . so be it.
I sound like all those things on occasion - but I always try to say what I believe.
And do you really believe that Hillary is hotter than Cindy? (sorry - I guess I missed the point)
Posted by: warren | February 20, 2008 3:39 AM
Hey Patsi, Bear and I sort of got the ball rolling on the "hotter" debate thingy, and even then it was between Cindy McCain and Monica Lewinsky, so not exactly between candidate's wives. Warren just jumped in there somewhere. Feel free to holler at me if you need to. =D

Me neither. Of course I don't believe a word of Hillary's bullshit or McCain's or any other politician's bullshit. Mario Cuomo (who shoulda been prez when he was a contender) said: "You campaign with poetry and govern with prose."
"Poetry" must be a politician's word for "bullshit."
