Tonight they do such an unusual thing on American Idol – they let the voters decide who wins. That is NOT how it works in the Democratic presidential nomination race, where the news media decides who wins before the voters have had their say. Which is why I’ll be watching “American Idol” on Fox. Still, our Trailmixers are welcome to offer their thoughts in Comments.

I meant the part about catering to someone's weakness - which makes them weaker - as opposed to exploiting someone's weakness - which should make them stronger if they are paying any attention.
Hillary has been too tied to the script - and has not been paying enough attention to reality.

But they do not work right.

samsung corporation has many crimes.
And the team investigates samsung corporation.
It contains korean companies samsung, huyndai,sk CEOs' illegal issuing

The quantity are plenty.
(Three company CEOs did(and are doing) many crimes to me.
Many koreans are knowing it.
But many koreans are bought off by illegal issuing stocks or bonds.)
The team are knowing it.
Korean special investigative team must investigate this.
But they are trying to conceal it.
I ask for asking for this criminal investigation to prosecutors in any
country.
And help the shareholders and me.
P.S)
Three companies are hacking me and trying to kill me.
And are suspicious to use my name and email illegally.
If you receive another message that I dictated above are not true,
it is not from me, but from three companies.

Jamie...
I understand. I, too, have taken 'vacations' when someone made me angry, hurt my feelings, or when I was just tired of all the infighting this campaign season has provoked. The common thread in all of those has to do with my feelings...so I have to take responsibility for my decision to leave. I choose not to give others the power to MAKE me do anything...but sometimes that's hard to pull off.

I understand, but it's not his fault. See here's my thing. Hillary is one of the smartest people in American politics. While on the road, I listened to POTUS 08 and heard her talk about health care for two hours with young women. She sounded human, knowledgeable and caring. But this was a small setting. When the big lights come on, she seems like she doesn't have her voice.

JennBe, the difference is that Obama will not mandate that all adults be covered. He does mandate that children be covered.
If the US does not cover all adults, then the rates will remain high. The only way to cut down the rates is to spread the responsiblity among all the people.
Posted by: Joke is on Us | February 26, 2008 10:05 PM
Yeah.... sure it is ok for him to flip flop on public financing.
But here is the point: when he flips, he shows that he is just a regular politician. He is not turning the page like he says. Rather, he is a hypocrite!!!!

I'll be glad to do a whole run down on both of their plans in details, but it is rather long. Short answer. you will have a choice of insurance. The cost will be paid by your employer if you have one, there will be a combination of tax credits or government paid support if you are self employed or unemployed.
By being universal the costs will drop. All the developed nations on earth have universal health care. We are the only ones who don't.

Ah, here's the old "Farrakhan denunciation" question. Always wanting the black candidate to denounce comments thirty years old.
Posted by: alpha1906
| February 26, 2008 10:09 PM
To add to the universal health care discussion: the difference between Obama and Clinton is that Obama does not require that adults get insurance. How will his plan lower costs on premiums if all of the people do not share the costs. They won't. The premiums will remain the same. People will still not be able to afford the cost. Then, those who cannot afford will continue to go without care.
Clinton's plan caps how much money each family will pay. Because everyone will share in the expense, the costs will go down.
Posted by: Joke is on Us | February 26, 2008 10:12 PM
Alpha the support is only 24 hours old and Farrakhan has been making those comments for thirty years not just making them once thirty years ago.
Posted by: jamie | February 26, 2008 10:13 PM
Yeah, but Farrakhan is used as a wedge, no matter how irrelevant he may be on the political landscape.

Thanks guys I appreciate the answers. It still boggles me so Jamie if you have links to stuff (so you don't have to type it) I would love it. My next question is why can't anyone say the word compromise? If anything is going to get done doesn't everyone have to give a little? This whole premise of bringing everyone together is a crock without a little give and take.
Posted by: JennBe
| February 26, 2008 10:14 PM
Also if someone shows up at the hospital without health insurance, the burden falls on the taxpayer just as it does now.
Senator Obama has talked about making them either pay or get insurance at the hospital which makes no sense. If you don't have pay by the month policy, how are you supposed to come up with $50,000 for a major injury.

JennBe,
Bringing people together is great. That said, it is niave of Obama to think that rogue leaders will just come together and everything will be solved. These leaders need arm twisting, threats, and yes, occasionally, bribes.
What I question is whether Obama has the resolve. Sure, he is good at talking. But can he actually get things done.
Since he has such as limited record, we will never know. We have to take a chance on him. Well, it is not a chance I will take.

You don't like what you read, so you attack the messenger. Next, you will attack my sense of patriotism.
You are right though. The president's actions affect Americans as well as those abroad. That is my point: to deter countries such as N. Korea, a president must exert credibility and capability. Certainly, the US has the capability. But with a person such as Obama, will he project the credibility? We don't know that because he has no record. He only has words.

Hi Kathy, Big question may have too much Vodka in me right now for answer that makes sense, GWB has not done what could have been done in the past 8 years. My fundemental beliefs are that that the government should stay out of peoples personal lives. I'm pro-choice, I think the buracracy is too large, and pay far too much of my income to the Government.
My feelings right now are that my party has gone away from me with all of the pandering to splinter or fringe groups instead of saying and doing things that are right or make sense. Forgive my spelling, I'm the president and founder of the JennBe School of Typing, LOL! I'm sure tomorrow I can make a much more comprehendable arguement.

You go where the people are. The anti-semitic stuff makes me very nervous, but Obama did disavow those statements by his minister tonight as well as mentioning all the Civil Rights work done by the Jewish community while acknowledging that there has been a falling out on some issues that he hopes to repair.
It makes me unhappy, but can't convict him for the actions of another man.

Russert should have put that question to BO first. All BO did was parrot what HRC had said and then went off in another direction having nothing to do with Russert's question. BO is such a lightweight when it comes to... well almost everything. Let there be no doubt Hillary won the night.

There is doubt Fry. I think unless Tina Fey pulls a another rabbit out of her hat this Sat. - Hillary is toast in TX and could get burned in OH. He disavowed Farakhan and then said that he had spoken out about statements with which I disagreed about his minister, but it wasn't as strong as the disavowal of the Farakhan support.
He's walking a fine line between the whole movement particularly within black churches to encourage mutual dependence within the community to improve the conditions particularly for those living with crime and poverty. which has at times created conflicts with Asians, Hispanics, and Jews and the fact that within society in general prejudice is finally disappearing so that a whole lot of people are feeling rejected by the black community at a time when reaching out is happening.
dicey issues to step around and bring about peace and resolution.

That is BS. People watch what they accept and agree with. I love Chris Matthews and don't necessarily believe he is for Obama (if you can believe). Obermann, well, yes; but that’s why I love him!!! Chris wants and loves the media. I DO NOT AND NEVER WILL WATCH the Faux channel because they are the most biased in the world as well as Limbaugh and others in talk radio. But, people have already determined who they support and no media will change their minds. Just ask me. I know. My family is totally split and we just don't talk about politics. We don’t put each other in the emergency room as some did in (I believe it was) PA yesterday. Jaime --
Kinda exactly my point -- the new guy is the same as the old guy. Putin is the strongman keeping a lid on Russia so the mob can run everything. James Fallows wrote a very interesting article for The Atlantic years ago -- back in the 80s -- about how we will one day be nostalgic for The Cold War -- basically because the two superpowers -- USSR and USA -- kept all the regional, ancient rivalries and disputes on ice. I think in the article Fallows also mentioned how the rivalry between USA and USSR also kept China #3. Now where are we? I agree that the Balkans are a powder keg for all of Europe and could easily spread beyond that to the East -- wouldn't mind letting the Russians have it to keep it all under wraps. Oh wait -- is there oil there? hmmmm.... Uh, Oh never mind ...http://www.flyingfish.org.uk/articles/balkan/pipelines.htm

Hi Jax -- Sounds like you have just expereinced what we refer to as the feminist "Click." Welcome to the club!
I had my first "click about 20 years ago in college. After all this time or living and forgetting, all the same old stuff comes roiling back to the surface -- I am now living through my second "click." Trying to make sense of it all -- trying to use this anger as illumination, rather than a blinding light. Sometimes, it all gets to be too much, like tonight -- when I purposefully decided to play Rock Band with my sons. (Who are being raised to be feminists.)
I am approaching 50. My friends in their late 50s and 60s and who are working so hard to get Hillary elected really feel that for us, this is the last possibility in our lifetimes to see a woman president. For us, a dream deferred is dream denied.
Posted by: Divalicias | February 27, 2008 12:01 AM
Why am I torturing myself by watching this poor excuse for post-debate analysis? I know...I know...if it bothers me I should just change the channel. Maybe I'm just holding out a glimmer of hope that SOMEONE will speak from a FAIR perspective. Once...just once!
Hmm...I should've laid a good money bet beforehand that I'd hear these things said in this so-called analysis:
1) Obama looks so presidential
2) The debate was a draw
3) Hillary needed a "knock out" punch and didn't land it
Aside from literally punching him out LOL, there's NOTHING she could've done that would've led them to concede she won the debate. I'm not surprised the talking heads at MSNBC have only mentioned Obama's response to the Farrakhan question once or twice. That, compared to the fact they've gone on and on and ON about how wrong it was for her to emphasize the major change a female president would bring. THEY (with a capital T) say how an Obama presidency would be just as big a change and she was somehow implying it wouldn't be. Plus, "THEY" say Obama couldn't have made that point because it would be polarizing. Is that truly the most important 'moment' THEY took away from this debate? Remember, HE is "cool" and "unflappable" while SHE is "emotional". He's got a "good sense of humor" and she's "sarcastic". And...as a Jewish person, I don't appreciate the mocking they are doing of the "I'll denounce and reject" comment by Obama. Really......it's funny? He ONLY agreed to reject the endorsement (loosely, at that) because Hillary put him on the spot, thus forcing him to do so. If Hillary hadn't stepped in to force clarification, Obama wouldn't have clarified, PERIOD (and Russert surely wouldn't have pressed the point)!! Why aren't THEY acknowledging the fact she had to push him to do so....that he took the onus off himself by making her look petty for parsing words....that he never even *addressed* the question regarding his Pastor? Instead, both during the debate and now afterward, they are all having a good laugh (including Gene Robinson and Keith Olbermann) about how silly she was to push for him to reject Farrakhan's endorsement. Shouldn't the fact he essentially answered that he can't "force" a hatemonger not to like him and, well... since he didn't ask said hatemonger for the endorsement, can't reject it, be more relevant? The entire fact they are mocking HIllary's performance in that exchange instead of Obama's answer pretty much says it all. SIGH....get me out of the Twilight Zone!!!!!

Hillary's responses were as usual substantive & knowledgable. However, I don't beleive that anyone's opinion was influenced.
Obama has the ability to string words together but they lack substance. He piggy-backed virtually all his answers from Hillary--then continued to speak without saying anything.
Tim Russert was a disgrace. He was antagonistic, belligerent, argumentative--interrupted Hillary repeatedly. Kept trying for one of his "gotcha" moments.
And to Warren -- FYI "the black lady from Ohio" is Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones--an ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton.

Thanks for the welcome!
Horsedooty---I am not *blaming* the moderators for anything. Rather, I am acknowledging that they are an embarrassment to their profession. Hillary did a fantastic job tonight...sounding more intelligent and presidential than ever. I'm very proud of her---can't say the same for Williams and Russert.
Divalicious---I'm embarrassed to say that in college, I had the same notion of "Womens' Studies" as most on campus: they all must be man-hating lesbians with an agenda. I am ashamed I couldn't see the bigger picture then, but now I do. I perhaps never saw the discrimination so blatently before now, or tossed away complaints from other women as unimportant. If nothing else, I am glad now that I am a more informed woman and person. Guess it's true what they say about age and experience!
Warren-- I see your point re: the moderators and no matter who we are individually supporting, I think we can mostly all agree that the moderation left much to be desired.
Karolenna--I wish you were right--that people know who they want to vote for and the news doesn't have an effect. But, most people aren't political junkies...watching the debates, reading the blogs. And, IMO, even less people are critical thinkers. Too many people pay NO attention to the issues, debates and speeches and instead get their information from the news bumpers during Grey's Anatomy. If literally all you hear are positive soundbites about Obama and how he's 'winning'....then you believe it. Let's be honest--everyone likes to say they picked the 'winner', and sadly more people would rather have Oprah tell them who to vote for than to take the time to listen and assess themselves. I know I'm cynical, but I am also a realist.

In Democratic primary, expect a GOP turnout
"According to polling, as well as anecdotal evidence, an unusually large number of Republicans and independents may cast their votes in the Democratic contest next week, a prospect that could tip the outcome of what polls show is now a tight race. Such defections could also affect the many local and state legislative primaries around the state.
Daron Shaw, a political science professor at University of Texas, said surveys he conducted in two state legislative districts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area revealed that almost a quarter of voters with a history of voting in GOP primaries planned on participating in the Democratic primary.
Michael Jones, a 39-year-old self-described conservative Republican who is involved in marketing, said he will cast his vote for Obama in the primary "so Hillary gets out."

Keep in mind - some of the criticism of Hillary is based on flaws that are unique to her as a candidate in this election. She stumpled on what message to drive and the flaws of her campaign have been well-documented.
I think a lot of women have personalized Hillary's campaign. I have had a somewhat similar experience with the Obama campaign. Him being a kid from a so-called broken home (my mom used to say we we were dysfunctional before it became cool) and rising to the highest office on his own merits - not because of connections - is inspiring to a lot of people I think (including a lot of women - young and old).
I also think his Presidency can open a lot of doors for women in positions of power - even if the glass ceiling does not get shattered this time around.

It pains me to say this, but the GOP is playing a smart and strategical game. They would NEVER throw their votes to Obama, no matter how much they dislike Hillary, if they *really* thought he could beat McCain. The idea of winning is sweet...and beating Hillary in the GE would be icing on the cake for the haters.
FOX and other GOP media shills have been promoting and praising Obama (as obnoxiously as the MSM), just as Republican voters will and have been pulling the lever for him. Not normally a conspiracy theorist, I do believe they will turn on Obama in a heartbeat and pull out all of the stops (lack of experience, Patriotism issues, etc) to ensure he loses the general election. Those who are involved in the lovefest like Joe Scarborough wouldn't be caught dead voting for Obama. Puhleeze....he's who they'd (under other circumstances) refer to as a "liberal left-wing looney". Yup, they want Hillary out of the race precisely because they know Obama will be easier to defeat (course, the media doesn't share my opinion LOL). Most Americans are closer to the middle...which is why I believe McCain has won the GOP nom. Hillary is much more of a moderate than Obama and IMHO those similarities between she and McCain create much more of a challenge for the Republicans to overcome.
Do you really believe they would purposely position Obama to be their challenger if they felt he was the great, changing tide of America that they report him to be? Not if they thought for a second he could actually win.

Jaxlola -- I flipped channels to keep from listening to Chris Matthews, and saw Sean Hannity, with a smirk, say, "We've been on the Stop Hillary Express. Now we can start up the Stop Obama Express."

Here are some of my thoughts relating to the general election and other things. One of my biggest factors in supporting Obama is that I think he is more electable than Clinton this year.

If Republicans really wanted to hurt the Dems - they would try and drag this fight out as long as possible. Clinton supporters are going to need some time for their wounds to heal before than can take a second look at Obama. The less time - the more likely they vote for someone else - or just stay home.

Joe might dislike McCain even more than Hillary. He was a big supporter of Romney. I wouldn't put it past him to vote for Obama. But I concede he would probably lie about it afterwards...

Very few will stay home, Warren. You are confusing real democrats with the Obama train. The difference is that because I believe Obama's people have run a just-under-the-surface dirty campaign, I will cast a vote but that's about it. I won't be doing what I did in Harold Ford's campaign, picking up and delivering yard signs, passing out bumper stickers to my neighbors, writing emails to remind people to vote. Obama has plenty of people to do all that.

Talk to me in two months (we can still communicate between now and then though - especially since you are also a night owl or perhaps live in HI).

Charlie Rose had the "European View" on tonight. They are for Obama and they think that picture of him is "wonderful" for him outside of the US. Time for bed. Buenas noches.

Thanks for the comments... is this the time I bring up Nader as a possible protest vote? I *wuz* a Democrat, I *wuz*
According to a new poll, McBush defeats both Obama and Clinton in the November election. Early times yes... but the idea that he's going to be a cakewalk to run over is dreaming.
Was Obama still refusing to wear an American flag on his lapel?
Anyone think Clinton can still win this? Any thoughts on whether she and Obama will be running mates?
Once the nominee is confirmed, will the personal attacks on individuals posting in her be finished?

There's that "arrogant" word again. Maybe because I'm African American, it sounds the same as if someone called Hillary "bitchy". Because he's confident of himself, not cowtowing to her, or feeling that he has to back down from who he is, that makes him arrogant? Nah, let's watch our words.

Hey EuroTom,
This blog comment section was nothing but a Clinton cheerleading team until her campaign began imploding. When Obama supporters began actually speaking up, we were the one ridiculed. Now that Obama has completely changed the election, it's the Clinton supporters who began spewing all of the vitriol. "Going to vote for McCain!" "I hate Obama!" Come on. I think some of the disappointed Clinton voters who thought this nomination a right should step back and get some perspective.

I used to say I'd vote for McCain, it's more like frustration and how this has played out... It's a vast left-wing conspiracy I tell you :-)
I will take another look at Obama, and there are things about Hillary I didn't like, but I have always loved her and I believe she has always had her heart into helping people.
Thanks Alpha, yesterday I was pretty down, I appreciate your congeniality.
