Isn't it true that in American Idol and in Politics, the game doesn't start until the first sex related scandal?

Obama "would meet without preconditions" -- McCain would have fun with that -- Barack has no intention of targeting Florida, mebbe that works

wow, Obama just said about everything that Florida Cubans do not want to hear, including quoting JFK -- okay fine, Dems, plan on an electoral strategy without Florida with Obama as your nominee

obama also stands for denying 1.7 million Florida Democrats a right to vote -- and combined with a GOP governor who played kingmaker for McCain, Florida is simply gone -- Dems can win without the state, maybe, but that's what they'll have to do with Obama -- that's all i'm saying

Hey Craig,
What about the voters who didn't go to the polls in Florida because they thought their vote didn't count? Do they have a voice?

And think of how many of those Floridians have friends and family up North. Surely they'll get an ear full.

What is "bi-partisan" diplomacy? Isn't diplomatic policy set at the administration level?
Posted by: dnd | February 21, 2008 8:32 PM
Florida: Sort of like scheduling a practice SAT session, and then saying because a bunch of people showed up, that we're actually going to count the results. And by the way, any of you who decided no to show up, too bad. We changed the rules.

No, I don't have an issue with Florida having a say. There should be another primary or caucus. If Sen. Clinton wins it, fine. If Sen. Obama wins it. Fine. But if the voices of all Floridians are to be heard, then the rules have to be clear for all Floridians, not just the ones who showed up or didn't show up before.

Craig,
Aren't both candidates pandering to Texas and Ohio? They don't care about Florida tonight. Clinton just spoke of foreclosures in TX and OH.
Posted by: dnd | February 21, 2008 8:40 PM
You'd have to have a primary so as not to disenfranchise all the people that voted in the primary.
The primary is run by the state - the republican state gov. that got the poor dems of the state into the mess are not going to pay for another very expensive primary.
So you need to figure something else out.
Good luck. I'm not worried because if Hillary wins the nomination...they'll love her because she championed their cause. I agree with Craig though - if Obama gets the nom...he's in trouble in FL. So it's the Obama crews problem.

there are no legal grounds for another vote in florida, alpha. it is a matter of statute, not something that a bunch of DNC fools can change. and the GOP-controlled Florida has no intention of helping out the dems. Howard Dean tossed away Florida in the general election, unless Clinton is the nominee, and that is the end of the story. Under Obama, Dems must win wihout Florida. So get started on figuring that out. All I'm saying.
Posted by: Craig Crawford
| February 21, 2008 8:43 PM

I'm not so sure about tossing Florida away. Yeah, people may be mad, but it's nothing that a few million in ads, appearance and a great ground game can't overcome. We in California as used to our primary votes not counting, mainly because the nom is normally done by the time we vote. And we vote Dem every election.

I think it's a sign of CC's political acumen that he's watching American Idol.

Saw a program about presidential pets the other night. The Clintons have 2, I think; the Obamas have none, I think; the McCains have 22 - dogs, cats, goats, ferrets, etc. And that's the reason I can only say 'I think' when I talk about what the Clintons or Obamas have for pets. I was so blown away by the thought of a first family with 22 pets in residence (I'm sure they really wouldn't be in residence!?!) that I forgot what was said about the other candidates' pets....

If I could afford a hearing aid and if I were able to turn it up, I would love to know if with dem candidate talked about health care for us over 40 yet under 66 crowd. I realize education, children, seniors and the like are important, but they are not the only thing I am interested in. (and I must admit, I might need that hearing aid from too many rock concerts vs. ipod use.)

My wife and I keep commenting that Bill is the one who torpedoed her campaign. Her final comment reminded me why I once liked her. But she couldn't contain Bill. And she couldn't get her campaign to run a strategy that was consistent and truly reflected her voice. Instead, they ran as a front runner and thought they could simply bludgeon the rest of the contenders. After Feb. 4, they were lost. Anyone disagree?

don't worry everyone - don't let them scare you - the liberal judges will stick it out for 4 more years.
Remember when Sandra Day O' thought Kerry was going to win in 2004 - she was pissed that she couldn't retire.
Bush won - she retired.
We'll all just keep our fingers crossed that none of the liberal judges kick off in the next 4 years.

There'll be sun
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none
When I'm stuck with a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And grin,
And say,
Oh
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
I love ya
Tomorrow
You're always

She writes a brief note and then looks at him attentitively. He writes and looks down through her whole answer.
He is arrogant, rude, and rather insufferable. He will probably be president. If we are lucky, she will be
VP so that there will be some wisdom nearby for him to rely upon.

I'm not outraged - she has spoken many many times that she is proud to have at least been part of the moment - the first African American - the first woman to have a shot.
Craig is right - she was conceding the race. Sad for those of us who want her to fight to the bitter end. But I do give her credit for putting her party before herself. The Obama supporters should be thanking her rather than banging on her - she's letting Obama go and focus on McCain - and with the so called "sex scandal" it's damn good timing.

And, Jamie...I was an administrator for over 20 years, and no one ever told me I was rude when I looked down while they were speaking. For Hillary to be VP would be a step down. So if she is smart she will not accept.
If Obama is as rude and angry as he seems he will not ask, although he should in a attempt to unify the party.
He needs to do something to get himself out of that left wing box he has put himself in. While it is a long way to August and he can do a lot to bring his message back to the centrist message he started out with, hugging Ted Kennedy is going to be a problem for him.
As Craig Pointed out running to the left even in the primary is usually a losing strategy when the General election comes around.

Our friend, Chris Matthews, has been equating Hillary with Bill for months. managers and handlers were busy in the spin room, emailing MSM that what we all thought was an overture to Obama that she would be available to campaign or even join the ticket, was instead a throw-down line in the sand statement proving she was ready to lead the nation on Day One.
It's apparent the Clinton campaign was , well...pissed off at their candidate for that act and handshake that made me sit up straight and shiver...even though latest numbers have her up 50-48 and 50-43 in TX and OH, respectively, the feeling is , tonight, she is ready to join Team Obama. Bear, I thought that the Cuban community in Miami was different than the rest of us until I did something really stupid. I was driving a rental car and smacked the outside mirror against one of those barrels they have in construction areas. Rather than just turn the damned thing in with the damage, I stopped at an automotive glass shop to have it replaced.
I was explaining to the service manager what I had done and what I needed when the owner stepped up and said show me your car. I did and he says drive over here and I'll take care of it.
He spent about 1/2 an hour making a mirror that was indistinguishable from the original.
When it was time to settle up, he shook his head and said it wasn't a real job--that it was on the house. I thanked him profusely and went back to the conference that I was attending.
He was Cuban of exactly the demographic that people like to denigrate.

Information not in evidence. Another bully statement. Do you really enjoy treating others as victims.

Cheer up, everyone!!!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
OMG... this reminds me when I won free tickets to see the movie ANNIE in Minneapolis. I was the third caller at a radio station.. Hell I was probably the only caller so they said "number 3"... But the bad news is, my friend and I are driving to the theatre and we get hit by another car, which totaled his car. I had to calm him down and started singing "The sun'll come out tomorrow" along with "It's a Hard luck life for us..." If only I hadn't called that stupid radio station!!!

"Actually I totally agree. Hillary has always totally trusted Bill and he has "figuratively speaking" screwed her again. Though I don't think that was his intention. "
I think that meme is media generated. If he can't defend his wife and his own presidency without being branded a hot head or a racist -- and that is precisely what happened -- then this country is screwed.

Alpha,
I agree with your assessment...her campaign took the nose dive when Bill wagged the finger in South Carolina. As much as liked him as President, he couldn't keep his ego in check.

McCain....isn't that funny...I guess everyone knew that already

Love your observations, Craig, and I have to agree with most of them. The thing about McCain's sex life is that it's such OLD news. Like too little too late? (double entendre intended) Maybe Bob Dole loaned him some Viagra?
Corey is such a hoot!

What are they thinking ? Can he really win in NOV without fla and michigan? Do they really think NEB and Idaho will give him a win in Nov? I live in Fla what I hear is people are not to keen on giving anyone their vote in NOV.

I recently heard a discussion about the fanatical Obama supporters. (I don't think anyone here would be classified as such-at least hope not.) They actually become physically violent if anyone dares to raise questions about Obama. Their "Fantasy" is being destroyed. This sounds dangerous-think Hitler, etc. I don't get it-he has no effect on me.

No effect what so ever over here, and actually my husband can't even stand the sight of him, because of his airs.
and BS

Just saw Samantha Power, Sr. Foreign Policy Advisor to Barack, on Charlie Rose.
She is one of the wisest and smartest women I have ever heard speak. She gets it.
"We make bad judgments when we're afraid."
"To turn the Iraqi people into something more than a slogan - but actually a focus of policy attention is something Obama understands."
Pretty good debate tonight. I thought they went toe-to-toe. Obama did better on Foreign Policy, Commander in Chief issues, and jokes. Clinton did better on being a "fighter" and Healthcare and even had herself a New Hampshire moment (but overplayed her hand on the silly plagiarism charge).
Obama made clear he is ready to take on McCain. And Hillary made clear she is ready to take on the Republicans on Healthcare.
A good night for the Democrats.

And I found QUITE by accident , a raw sex tape of Gene Simmons having sex . It's graphic and it shows WAY too much of Gene's anatomy. I'll give ya three minutes . If ya wanna see it I'll post the link. time starts now.

I'm an Independent and Obama is looking strong. Plus, I am registered in FL and have already convinced my brother - also in FL - to vote for him. Take that McCain!!
Plus, my grandfather - a WWII vet (pilot) - would never vote for McCain because he has adopted Bush's Foreign Policy. He will vote for Obama.
And I think McCain will have trouble with the Latino voters (especially the energized youth) against Obama in FL.

I am a Hillary supporter and if she is choosing to bow out gracefully that's okay with me I am going to still be a supporter and a fan of Hillary no matter what the outcome of this primary. In every meaningful category she is the superior candidate. I read the comments posted here and I hope that she's too busy to ever have to read some of the comments posted here. It appears that some of the people who post here are not looking beyond the primaries even if Barak Obama win this primary and I believe he will, to be successful in November against a Republican all Democrats will need to support Senator Obama for him to win the presidency
I have nothing against Senator Obama I just happen to think that Hillary Clinton is a better choice at this time but, I recognized it is not going to happen. Experience and knowledge of important world affairs is less important than to elect this particular black man. Some people like to use the phrase that," he is above color" I define that he is above American blacks because, he is highly educated, intelligent; as another senator described him" he's clean" and without doubt he has been successful at being a success this man he has not been tainted by the black American's experiences. The first 18 years of this man's life for the most part were spent in Hawaii and j Jakarta Indonesia.
Let me tell you what is happening; that 90% of black people who are supporting Barak Obama think that that is some kind of subliminal phone '' winking and nodding'' going on; the Moslem around the world also think they are getting a friend(winking and nodding) and a whole lot of white people here in this country will go to any length to push slavery and segregation Jim Crow and affirmative action is going to have a big funeral. These other reason that I believe Senator Obama is going to be next president.
