I tried to submit the following question, but only get to a "runtime" error twice.

There has been extensive coverage of race and gender issues long after it seems that the questions have been settled other than media rehashing the questions with campaign surrogates. Do you feel that the media is encouraging the conflict just for the sake of ratings?

Now they are trying to start a war between the culinary and teachers' unions. I guess the piggies just can't manage to stay out of the mud.

If I were the head of one of these campaigns, I would be on the phone NOW to the head of the other campaign, planning a dual strategy for the debate.. something along the lines of "my worthy opponent," and "we have enormous respect for each other as democrats, and want to assure our supporters that no matter who wins the nomination, you will be ably served." Forget the politics for the first 10 minutes of that debate. Put on a united front, even if it KILLS them!

He swears Bill Clinton was trashing Obama's entire campaign with the 'fairy tale' blast...and refuses to even look at the tape, listen to HRC's take on it, or read the transcript.
He's like Bob Herbert of The Times, who should issue a full-column apology to Bill and Hillary for Herbert's totally off-fact column about Obama being unfairly treated by the Clintons.
Donna B is guilty of the same thing...cherry picking words and taking the whole thing out of context.
Clintons are right...Obama is a total hawk and has not stood with Feingold and Kennedy, and has supported the damn Iraq funding on every vote.
It seems that Obama's people are so attention challenged they can't even watch a 2 minute video.

3/4 c. vegetable shortening
1 c. firmly packed Imperial brown sugar
1/2 c. Imperial granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. Quaker oatmeal, uncooked
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat together shortening, Imperial sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Combine and add remaining dry ingredients; mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. For variety, add chopped nuts, raisins, chocolate chips or coconut. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.

As dead on as you have been with your analysis of this campaign so far, I am a bit disappointed that you have missed the boat on the plunger...

I offer the following points to why Rudy has run the way he has:

1. He was already given the nomination by Fox News and knew that MSNBC would follow suit because they all think that America would beg to have the "ROCK" of 9/11 be it's next president.

2. Why campaign in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina or Michigan? They are all cold this time of year. If he was willing to let other city agencies pay for the security and other sundries for his mistress, why wouldn't he let Americans pay for an extended Florida vacation for a couple of months.

3. The only state with more New Yorkers than Florida is New York, so Rudy is staying in generally friendly territory and he can get tanned while he sees how many times he can utter 9/11 in a 30 minute speech.

Gotta give it to the Obama campaign "sort of". It makes sense to have the caucus where the majority of the voters are working in the casinos, but you would think they could bend things a bit and have caucus sites at the schools as well.

Of course, this is one of the reasons that I think either and all day caucus or a primary makes sense. The goal should be the most people possible having their say.

I can't say that I am shocked but it won't gain much traction. As I read it, point A. is moot unless they hand out printed copies of the blog to people within the allowable distance to campaign at a poll site.

If crossing party lines wasn't an allowable tactic, the law wouldn't permit the action. I would think the burden to prove that a person crossing over to vote was a malicious action and not just a way of choosing their candidate. Plus how would they know who to depose to prove intent?

With regards to his third point, that petitioner should be forced to watch 8 hours of campaign ads and read every papers endorsement and compare them to Kos.

I can see them trying to bleed some money from them but I would have to think there is a lawyer out there who would do this pro bono...I wouldn't be shocked to see the aCLU get into the mix...

It is more about some discrepancies between the machines and the "official" counts. No one thinks there was any actual interference, see some of Renee's remarks a few days back. They just want to create a challenge to the use of machines even though the NH ones are readers only and have a paper ballot backup.

Lemme see, spend $60 grand to get rid of the use of machines - I like it, maybe. DennisK may be doing a good deed if he thinks that their use might throw the election to the repugs in Nov., but I can't imagine that a fed court would block their use and get it to stick through the USSCt by Nov. That aside, I agree with the lawsuit because by having special caucus sites for these specific workers, it gives them a special privledge. Other people outside the casinos have to work that day during the caucus. For instance, people who work at McDonald's,UPS drivers, or nurses do not have equal access to a caucus site. Rather, they have to go to their neighborhood location.

Everyone should be treated the same. Noone should be given special privledges based on the location of their job or union affiliation.

I too just read the piece about JayZ's rap song being played as Obama entered to give his acceptance speech in IA. I was horrified to hear about this for 2 reasons: first, the obvious one, which is that he is calling Hillary a bitch. What a sexist thought! He gets to call her a bitch and that she is not a threat.

Even if that was not his intention, the fact that he uses raps by JZ who objectifies and sexualizes women in his videos is a sign of bad judgment.

I also loved how he used Signed, Sealed, and Delivered for the NH speech. It showed that he got a little ahead of himself there.

Agreed, Jan. There should be no moratorium on talking about Obama...whether it be his drug use or other topics. However, there should be a moratorium on talking about stuff that gets in the way of talking about issues that are important to the American people and the running of this country. I'm not sure his drug use has much importance except in the context of something he did in the course of his confused youth. That said, I still wish you'd all take the time to reflect on something other than the pissing match between Hillary and Barack...which the media have been all too happy to promote.

I have never heard that before. Needless to say, it does not make it right. Neither gender should be doing that to one another. I am not sure how to respond to such a general comment such as that. I highly doubt that is the case every time. I am sure it has mainly been when they attribute her win to crying.

My occasional attempts at witty comments are based on the fact that I don't care much for arguing , especially with women. I find that life is much better when I get along with women.

It's nothing personal with Brian. I just do not care to be called shrill when someone disagrees with me. If he disagrees, then use logic, not name calling.

I am responding because if I allow this behavior, then through my silence I am accepting his characterization.

I am sure that a lot of people who read this think I am overreacting, but you know, that is another way to characterize women as emotional when they speak out.

Anyway, I am done. I have long realized that it is not easy to explain these issues. Men and women often see these things in different ways.

There was one more time that I remember well. When Senator Clinton mispoke on the licenses for illegals in New York. Her campaign responded with calls for sexism. I was mighty surprised by that one.

In my time as a woman paving the way for others through the 70s and 80's, this is what I learned.

That I was over reacting to mere words. I was not responding, I was reacting and in a negative way. I found that if I would quell my emotions and respond to them in a more logical and positive way, it was a learning experience and the MEN were ver open to it.

Not lecturing, just tapping into your true logic. Because we all know that we women are really the Brilliance in this world and THEY know it too.

Jan it's not about agreeing with your or not, it's this constant hostility being spewed at anyone that isn't Hillary. I think the Hillary campaign is playing a very nasty game and I don't like it. They could have let the race issue die out days ago but didn't, it stinks to high heaven. And then to have someone spewing indignation as us in defense of the actions of HillCo just makes my stomach turn a bit.

It's not nice to call someone shrill, because most recipients of this slur seem to be either women or effeminate men......who never seem to consider being called that as having anything to do with whatever point they were making........

I try to call her Sen. Clinton, but it seems that she's branded "Hillary." That's what her yard signs and bumper stickers say. Perhaps it softens her image, but I find the whole thing peculiar, as it started with her right wing critics admonishing her with that moniker. It seems very un-presidential. It's ok for "Cher", "Madonna", "Shekie" to be up on those billboards in Vegas, but Hillary?

I've often seen you write about "covert hostility" in others. Unfortunately, this is an aspect that I find in the Obama campaign. There is often a rather snide feel about pronouncements from the campaign.

It's one of the reasons that I put Edwards in second place in my preference list among the top three contenders. I simply don't feel that Obama is ready for the big show.

This must be the part of the campaign where things just go crazy.
This entire latest flap over Bill Clinton's 'fairy tale' truthful remarks has been bizarre. Most people, apparently , even, those that go on forums like Abrams' show, just grab sheaf of slanted talking points and mic-up.

Now, this disenfranchisement of the teachers union in Las Vegas that was discussed on Hardball needs some looking into. I don't quite fully understand it...teachers teaching late into Saturday night and can't make it to the casinos to their caucuses? The caucuses last just two hours?

Not the teachers, In nevad the maintence people are part of the same union. So the same custodian who has to be there to open the school cannot vote at that caucus...I'm sure the court will allow that kind of voting rather than close the at large cacuses on the strip.

It's a bit of a red herring, but the teachers union also covers the janitorial staff as well as the college teachers etc who do teach on Saturday. Gotta give this one to the Culinary workers. While it would be good to either allow a longer period or go to a primary, the majority of voters will be casino staff and there is no guarantee that they will all follow the union endorsement.
