Harman Makes Fun of Her Travails

You can't say Jane Harman doesn't have a sense of humor.

The California Democrat, besieged all last week by revelations of a wiretapped conversation with a suspected Israeli agent, has dubbed tomorrow's road race team, "Tapped Out."

Poking a little fun at herself?

"We still have a sense of humor," a Harman spokesman told CQ's Emily Ethridge, on condition of anonymity because .... Well, because.

The 28th annual "Capital Challenge," sponsored by the American Council of Life Insurers, draws a large congressional turnout.

The 3-mile race begins and ends Wednesday in Anacostia Park.

Last year Harman, 64, running under the "Harmaniacs" banner, led a team of staffers whose average time led it to a 14th-place finish. Its captain, soon to join the senior citizen ranks, didn't fare so well, finishing 526th (out of 606).

The roster for "Tapped Out" remains classified until just before the race begins.
