Americans Liking Health Reform Ideas Less and Less

Public support continues to erode for plans by the White House and congressional Democrats to overhaul the nation's health care system, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll taken Sept. 24-25.

Forty-one percent of likely voters said they support the overhaul proposals now making their way through Congress, while 56 percent say they oppose these plans, Rasmussen said.

The intensity of opinion appears to be on the side of opponents, 43 percent of whom strongly oppose the plans as currently proposed while 23 percent strongly favor them.

Public support for changing the nation's health care system has bounced around within a 10-point spread since late June, according to Rasmussen. Similarly opposition has fluctuated within an 11-point range in that same period.

And a narrow plurality, 47 percent, now say they doubt passage of laws changing will happen this year.

The poll was based on telephone interviews with 1,000 likely voters nationwide and carries a margin of error of plus of minus 3 percentage points.

  1. Every day, we are learning about something else that is wrong -- morally, constitutionally, fiscally, practically -- with these health care reform proposals fermenting in Congress.

Yet the liberals keep pushing their agenda of "social justice" on us with reckless and willful disregard for the damage it will do to our health care system, national economy, state budgets, and -- last, but not least -- our liberty.

This massive dose of statism in medicine would induce grave waves of arrhythmia -- inflation, price controls, lower quality, doctor shortages, waiting periods, and rationing.

These disturbances would become so emotionally distressing to the American people that Alinsky-inspired statists — opportunists that they are — would be able to exploit each new “health care crisis” as another opportunity to inject another dose of statism into the system.

Call Congress NOW and tell them to oppose this War of Choice on Choice in Medicine.

  2. The fastest way to get these medical types riled up is to tinker with their gravy train.

We well remember the “choice” scare from the 'Harry & Louise' ad campaign . It's the insurance industry’s favorite exploit from 1993. Unfortunately, reform failed and many lost their favorite sawbones anyway due to HMO policies. Oops.

But you still get a big ‘thumbs up’ from the focus groups on that one, eh Greg?
