Roy Barnes is the clear leader when matched against a field of other potential contenders for the Democrats' nomination for governor in 2010, according to a
Rasmussen Reports poll conducted June 17.
On the Republican side, Georgia Fire and Insurance Commissioner
John Oxendine is the far-and-away early favorite.
Barnes polls 48 percent among Democrats with all others tested in the survey in single digits. of the rest, the highest scorer is Attorney General Thurbert Davis with 8 percent. Barnes is seen favorably by 54 percent compared to 12 percent who seem him favorably, and 25 percent who are undecided. Davis' favorable-to-unfavorable ration is 45 percent to 17 percent with 38 percent not sure. Over half of voters don't know enough about the other candidates tested to have an opinion.
John Oxendine
Oxendine leads the Republican field with 35 percent with the only other candidates in double-digits being Georgia Secretary of State
Karen Handel at 11 percent and Rep.
Nathan Deal at 10 percent.
Oxendine's favorable-to-unfavorable ratio is 61 percent to 18 percent with 20 percent not sure, Handel's is 49 percent to 12 percent with 38 percent not sure, and Deal's is 28 percent to 14 percent with 58 percent not sure.

You mean Thurbert Baker. It doesn't look good when you confuse two black politicians who are running for Governor in their respective states (the other being Artur Davis in AL). What, do all black guys look alike?
