An Early Poll on Palin

| | Comments (4)

Rasmussen Reports conducted a quick poll on John McCain's choice for running mate, Sarah Palin, that says she made a "good first impression." Rasmussen reported yesterday that 67 percent of Americans din't know enough about her to form an opinion, but Scott Rasmussen says that more respondents were able to express their views in this poll because it was conducted after the announcement when there was more news about her.

The findings:

  • Likely voters say by 40 percent to 32 percent that McCain made the right choice and 28 percent were not sure.
  • Thirty-five percent said the choice of Palin made it more likely they would vote for McCain, 33 percent less likely and 28 percent said it would have no impact on their decision.
  • Forty-four percent say Palin is not ready to be President, 29 percent believe she is and 26 percent were not sure.
  • Thirty-seven percent regard Palin as very conservative, 32 percent say "somewhat conservative, 13 percent say moderate and 16 percent are not sure.
  • Palin is regarded favorably by 53 percent of voters, unfavorably by 26 percent and 18 percent are not familiar with her.

  3. Palin’s no Hillary, but this Hillary supporter likes her. Most of us Hillary supporters didn’t support Hillary just because she’s a woman. Rather, we respected her lifelong dedication to the well-being of average Americans (of ALL races). But we watched the decades-long fighter for civil rights and champion of “the little guy” be chewed up by her own party during a process that made a mockery of democracy - all to reward a guy who’s spent all of three years as a do-nothing legislator. Palin, on the other hand, has had several years of executive leadership experience - at which she has excelled. The fact that she was a popular mayor of a small town for two terms - before becoming governor - shows she understands the issues that affect people's daily lives and effectively works to make their lives better. And she stands up to government corruption! So most women won’t support Palin solely because she’s a woman. However, most women want respect and equal opportunities - and if more women got it, there would be more women decision-makers in government that are pro-life AND pro-choice.

  4. Palin is a joke. I think that most women who voted for Hillary is not going to take this well. Women who voted for Hillsry did so because she is an experienced, liberal minded, supporter of women's rights, gay rights and civil rights as a whole. Palin is a 44 year old politician from the most remote state in the country with no experience in foreign government. Women who voted for Hillary and are considering voting for McCain and his twelve year old, gun-toting, ANTI-CHOICE running mate are just plain stupid, stupid, stupid.

Just the thought of having Palin running this country makes me violently ill. I agree that we should get rid of the curruption and Washington but I would like to the person that I am voting for has at least been ou of her home state, Palin is way for McStupid to play to idiots. Any woman who believes in Hillary Clinton and idoloizes her as I do will support Obama/Biden ticket with as much fervor as Hillary is doing.
