Stephen Colbert is in Iraq all week filming the Colbert Report, and in an early segment he showed that he didn't get any special treatment during basic training. But according to his guest, Gen. Ray Odierno, Commanding General of the Multi-National Force in Iraq, Colbert was missing one thing from his wannabe-soldier shtick: a buzzcut. Colbert, who proudly wears his hair like a hairspray helmet, protested, until a surprise guest ordered Gen. Odierno to take decisive action.

Or Rep. Dan Maffei's evil twin does, anyhow. Stephen Colbert strikes again, getting another member of Congress to say ridiculous things on camera. Colbert had Maffei, an avid Star Trek fan, dress up like his own evil twin in honor of the episode "Mirror, Mirror" where the members of the Starship Enterprise get transported to an alternate universe and confront Spock's diabolical doppelganger. Of course credit also goes to Maffei, who we commend for his sense of humor. Or should we be commending his twin?

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele wants to expand the base of the Republican party, and has pledged to make the GOP more urban. So what better way to usher in a new hip-hopified GOP than with a good old fashioned rap battle? Comedy Central host Steven Colbert challenged Steele to a rap duel, and the result? Comic gold-plated teeth.

With AIG CEO Edward Liddy testifying on the Hill today, Stephen Colbert offers to lead an angry mob to pay the company a visit.

Stephen Colbert takes up a topic near and dear to our hearts here at Politics (Un)Seriously: DC voting rights. Or, as we like to call it, DC 'just-give-us-some-freaking-representation -already' rights. With a president who has publicly championed the cause and a Democratic Congress mostly in favor of voting rights, things are looking good for the District. Eleanor Holmes Norton, DC's non-voting delegate in the House of Representatives, joins Colbert (who, we learn, was born in DC) to discuss.

What better way to ring in a new year and new Congress than with Stephen Colbert's occasional series, "Better Know A District." This time Colbert has his cross hairs set on Utah's 3rd, represented by freshman Republican Jason Chaffetz. Chaffetz plays a good sport, and even has a few genuinely funny moments, like when he tells a fictional Nancy Pelosi "you're not the boss and me," and coos "hello sweetness," to Colbert's pistol.

Rahm Emanuel on Fire at Stephen Colbert Roast

| | Comments (0)

Rahm Emanuel took some time off from Barack Obama's transition team to do what he loves best: Roasts! This time, the target was Comedy Central star Stephen Colbert. Emanuel, who is known as a sharp-elbowed politician as well as a sharp-tongued jokster, had plenty of fun at Colbert's expense. But the President-elect's designated Chief of Staff didn't stop with the Colbert Report host. Also in Emanuel's crosshairs were Vice President-elect Joe Biden, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch and even Joe the Plumber, among others.
