Who is Barack Obama?

With Karl Rove's latest attempt to define Sen. Barack Obama -- this time as an arrogant country club elitist -- it's clear Republicans haven't yet settled on who the man is they are facing in the presidential election.

Sometimes he's part of the country club set, other times he's an outsider with a strange name raised by a hippie mother.

Sometimes he's a Christian with a controversial pastor, other times he's a secretive Muslim.

Sometimes he's the black activist who resents white people, other times he's the Ivy league lawyer who doesn't understand the working man.

Sometimes he's naive to the ways of Washington, other times he's politically ruthless and overly ambitious.

Though Sen. John McCain wrapped up the Republican nomination early, he's made almost no progress in defining his opponent. In fact, many of the attempts actually contradict each other. It's the biggest failure so far of McCain's campaign.

  1. Lindsey Graham did this in one interview on Meet the Press this Sunday. He argued, that, on one hand, Obama doesn't have the experience to be President. On the other, he's a carefully crafted politician and not the idealist he makes himself out to be. That Carl Rove quote about Obama being a snarky, martini-sipping yachter just doesn't stick! They're really reaching.

  2. I notice in your (typical) pro Obama post Taegan Goddard to tell us who Obambi is in your journalistic opinion - - - based on FACTS.

You are the typical obambot. Failed journalism at its finest. None of you bots have vetted Obama to disclose the truth about anything and everything connected to Obama, so it's been left up to we bloggers, liberals who put America first and the likes of Rove and the right to dissect him.

It's not fat fuck Rove's fault you and your ilk aren't doing your jobs... so you left the door open for people like him to do it.

Obama is not good for America. he is not qualified because he's half black- that is NOT a qualification. Having 'preacher' skills to say words like "hope" and "change" are NOT qualifications for the presidency of the UNITED STATES.

This is a disgrace his campaign is moving forward thanks to dumbed down Americans.

He's a junior Senator will a minimal record, questionable credentials, connections and agendas. What the hell is wrong with you people?

Obama has failed records and lies all over the place but you fools choose to turn a blind eye to all of it.. why? Do you hate your country so much you would put it at risk like this?

Stop the insanity- read up on ALLLLLL the facts surrounding this Barack Obama. He is NOT right for America.

NO to Obama in '08 - period. No to the vile tactics of the Democratic party and how they handed this nomination to this guy from the beginning.

    America first, always. PUMA BABY

Liberals for America 1st - NO to Obama

    Wake the fk up
If you can't see the arrogance (and danger) in someone who wrote their own "memoirs" at the age of 34, then you are not qualified to vote. It means you have no depth or vision to see what is really there.

  3. "" notice in your (typical) pro Obama post Taegan Goddard to tell us who Obambi is in your journalistic opinion - - - based on FACTS."""

That was meant to read, (that) in dissing Rove for characterizing who Obambi is, you fail to do it yourself in your post - you in no way dissect for yourself and your readers just who Obambi is.. that's either because you don't know, don't care, and/or are afraid to know the truth.

  4. A sound observation! Some of the foregoing comments show this clearly (in content and attitude).

  6. Without commenting on the journalistic quality of the above comments as compared with T. Goddard's work, one thing should be clear to even the most partisan reader -

The point of the article is that the McCain campaign has failed to find a solid negative way of defining Barak Obama in the electorate's mind.

If it could be construed as anything even vaguely partisan, it is a partisan-Republican article, because it is advising the Republican party and the McCain campaign to come up with a good, mean, workable negative image of Barak Obama.

I mean, if "Obambi" is as good as it gets, McCain has as good as lost this election.
