Rove's Compromise for Democrats

| | Comments (2)

From his new perch as Fox News political pundit, Karl Rove explained how Sen. Barack Obama might deal with the problem of seating delegates from Florida and Michigan at the Democratic convention -- and win the Democratic nomination at the same time.

Rove suggested that by agreeing to seat the delegates according to the results of the "illegal" January primaries -- even if that would give a slight advantage to Sen. Hillary Clinton -- Obama could actually persuade a majority of the remaining superdelegates to back him. It would show Democratic leaders that he's willing to put the party's interests above his own. It would show confidence in his own ability as a leader. And, perhaps most importantly, it would be a gesture that Clinton could not match.

  1. Just the usual Rove mind games. If he does this, and Clinton posts a strong win in Pennsylvania, the whole thing is up for grabs for at least another month, probably three. Which is exactly what Rove wants.

Even if he were NOT the devil incarnate, even if you actually assume that he has not "retired" from active politicking, would you envision someone in his position offering advice that would actually be helpful to Obama?

Purely from a strategic point of view, get past North Carolina, get this thing 99.999% locked down, and THEN seriously consider it. There would be no political benefits to doing it now compared with 5 weeks from now, so long as he does it before he passes 2024 and Clinton drops out.

  2. Carl Rove is such a slime. He knows that Obama would never trust his advice because he has a brain. This is just another republican cause chaos trick. He counts on the Fox viewers not being smart enough to see through this, but we are Carl. This is just a trick to try to make Obama look bad because he doesn't go along. According to Carl, Obama should be such a nice guy that he gives away free chances to steal the election. Of one thing you can be very sure. Carl Rove never suggested anything so stupid to any candidate he was advising for real.
