About Jonathan Allen
With a sharp eye and sharper sense of irony, CQ Politics' Jonathan Allen tracks political plays in and out of Washington. He fills his notepad withs news, expertise and insight to help find the "why" behind power plays and political developments.
A winner of the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting of Congress and the Sandy Hume Memorial Award for Excellence in Political Journalism, he has covered elections, redistricting, the federal budget, government oversight and party leadership since joining CQ in 2000.
He is a frequent guest on national and local television and radio programs, including "Hardball with Chris Matthews" and "On the Record" with Greta Van Susteren. A 1998 graduate of the University of Maryland in College Park, he lives on Capitol Hill with his wife, Stephanie Allen.
