The (Statesville, N.C.) Record & Landmark reports today on a different kind of town hall meeting -- one at which Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry riled up a friendly audience of constituents bent on stopping the Democratic health overhaul plans.

A standing-room only crowd at the Mooresville Town Commissioners Chambers was backed up by an estimated 1,000 who were lined up down the street last night.

"What's the game plan for slowing this down?" an audience member asked, according to the Record & Landmark .

"You," McHenry responded. "I've been fighting this thing from the get-go. I've been reading it -- it's 1,600 pages long so it's taking some time -- to make sure there are no bridges to nowhere in it."

Never mind that the House bill (HR 3200) is only 1,017 pages long and that the only bridges involved are those which concern cardiologists and dentists. McHenry was on a roll.
