The FBI is investigating the discovery of a painted swastika at the office of Rep. David Scott, D-Ga., who is among the lawmakers drawing the most attention for exchanges with constituents at town-hall meetings on health care.
"The Atlanta office FBI has received information from U.S. Congressman David Scott's office concerning vandalism at his Smyrna, Georgia office. Based on the nature of the reported incident, the FBI is investigating this matter together with the Smyrna Police Department as well as the U.S. Capitol Police," Special Agent Stephen Emmett, said.
Scott's spokeswoman said Tuesday that the congressman's office had alerted local and federal authorities after finding a swastika painted on the sign marking the location of his Smyrna district office.
Federal authorities can prosecute hate crimes as violations of an individual's civil rights.
Some commentators are calling it a "fake hate crime," arguing that a Scott ally hoping to generate sympathy for him is most likely the culprit.
It doesn't appear that the nation's professional law-enforcement investigators are taking it so lightly.

[Some commentators are calling it a "fake hate crime," arguing that a Scott ally hoping to generate sympathy for him is most likely the culprit.]
This incident seems a little too "convenient" for the congressman. Seeing the "Chicago Way" in all its glory for the last 7 months, it wouldn't surprise me at all. That's more believable than someone's grandma & grandpa (who've been raising the most hell at these town-halls) painting a swastika on a sign.

Thanks for that stunning revelation NObama. I suppose all the swastikas and Hitler staches that are popping up all over these Anti-"Healthcare" reform townhalls is a vast liberal conspiracy, not something ginned up by Limbaugh and Beck equating on the airwaves that Obama is a Nazi. Sure, makes sense.
