With John Edwards set to officially drop-out of the presidential race in a few minutes, progressive bloggers are wondering who his decision helps most: Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama? But they are also lauding the former North Carolina senator for running a campaign they say brought attention to populist ideals often-ignored by leading candidates and the media.
Netroots Give Fond Farewell to Edwards
Edwards has suggested that Obama is closest to his view of change, but his endorsement will come down to who offers more in return.
I think this is bad for Obama, but I guess we'll see where his vote goes. Edwards is more likely to endorse Obama than Clinton, so of course there's that.
John ran a good campaign and vowed to stay in it all the way to the convention, but apparently that’s not going to happen. John’s populist message scared the daylights out of the wealthy elite and the corporate media, which ultimately hurt his coverage.
