GOP Candidate Barr is 'On the Radar'

Attorney Andy Barr (R), who is hoping to unseat Kentucky Rep. Ben Chandler (D) in November, is now an 'On the Radar' candidate, a first step in the National Republican Congressional Committee's "Young Guns" program.

Founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle by GOP Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) and Paul D. Ryan (Wis.), the program is a member-driven organization dedicated to electing open-seat and challenger candidates nationwide.

Barr is running in Kentucky's 6th Congressional District. "The NRCC is committed to working with Andy Barr as he continues to meet the rigorous goals of the Young Guns program," said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions of Texas.

CQ Politics currently rates the general election race as Safe Democratic.
