Another Republican is stepping forward to challenge veteran Democratic Rep. Ike Skelton in Missouri's 4th District.
Republican James Scholz, the president of Computer Security Consulting Inc., has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run in the 4th, a conservative-leaning area of western and central Missouri.
Scholz also confirmed his 2010 campaign on his Twitter page.
Scholz will have plenty of company in the Republican primary next August. State Sen. Bill Stouffer and former state Rep. Vicky Hartzler have confirmed their candidacies.
Skelton, meanwhile, is signaling he will raise plenty of campaign cash for what may be his most challenging re-election campaign in a 33-year House career representing a district that in 2008 gave just 38 percent of the vote to Barack Obama.
Skelton, the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, has fundraising events in Washington planned for Sept. 9 (with Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland), Sept. 10, Sept. 14, Sept. 29 and Oct. 27.
