Bachmann, Democrats Ping-Pong the Rhetoric Over New DCCC Web Site

| | Comments (3)

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee triggered a war of words Monday with a certain outspoken Minnesota congresswoman after it launched a new Web site, Bachmann Watch.

The site purports to highlight the "extreme rhetoric and false claims" Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann "makes to bolster her outrageous statements." And it hits Bachmann, a two-term incument and frequent Fox News guest, for her assertions on cap-and-trade energy legislation, her record on earmarks, and government spending.

Criticism of Bachmann, a pariah among liberals, is certain to energize the Democratic base. But it also may generate support for Bachmann herself. At least that's what she's hoping for, after sending out a fundraising e-mail to supporters less than an hour after the DCCC sent word of its site.

Bachmann Watch, she wrote, is the "latest attempt to discredit every word out of my mouth and to paint anyone who disagrees with the liberal agenda sweeping through Washington as an extremist." Bachmann then attempted to de-bunk the Democrats' efforts to de-bunk her original statements.

Bachmann's e-mail also asks for supporters to contribute to her campaign so she can "keep fighting."

What's certain: this fight isn't going to die down anytime soon.

  1. I went to the site and although they quote some people saying her statement on the cost of cap and trade was wrong, it isn't. Seems the on of the researches did say it was only $800, but he was saying that was the cost to improve your house, etc. He assumed that the $3000 plus that would be passed on to the user of carbon based fuels would be refunded to the taxpayers by the government so it wasn't a cost. So the government is going to put on a tax so that it can refund it to me when Obama is bleeding red ink on the budget. Hmmm, sounds like the 2 trillion he was going to save by not continuing the surge in Iraq over then next 10 years.

  2. Went over to the site. Dozed off. Came back.

With all the great material the Congresswoman from Looney Tunes provides, this is the best they could do???

  3. Bachmann for President in 2012! How can you not vote for someone who makes this statement recently:

"I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president Jimmy Carter. And I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence."
-- Rep. Michelle Bachmann. In fact, Gerald Ford was president during the last outbreak of the virus.
