Corn on "Hardball": Limbaugh Plays Politics with Murder

| | Comments (70)

It's not every day you get a chance to go on television and call Rush Limbaugh a fool. But on Thursday night, I was asked on Hardball to comment on the big-mouth's claim that James von Brunn is a "leftist." So what choice did I have?

"Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true."

  5. Right-Wing Neocons Rooting For Ahmadinejad Win

American neoconservatives have often used the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to bolster their case for aggressive action against Iran. So the assumption might be that they would be rooting for Iranians to take care of the problem themselves by electing reformer Mir Hossein Mousavi in today's vote..

Instead, they're rooting for the anti-American bogeyman to stay in power.

Middle East Forum Director Daniel Pipes said in a speech at the Heritage Foundation that he would vote for Ahmadinejad if he could:

  6. Scrawled on a notepad found in the car of Holocaust Museum shooter James von Brunn Wednesday:

“Obama does what his Jew owners tell him to do.”

Spoken to reporter David Squires by President Obama’s former mentor, counselor and pastor the same day:

“Them Jews ain’t going to let him [President Obama] talk to me.”

Leftist bloggers and the government-run media would have you believe that von Brunn has more in common with “right-wingers” (libspeak for “conservatives”) than with any other group.

But these quotes are evidence of a certain like-mindedness between the shooter and the neo-Marxist pastor of the church Barack Obama used to attend before his inauguration as this country’s 44th president.

Both Wright and von Brunn are racists who hate Jewish people. Both adhere to variations of socialist doctrine. Conservatives recoil in horror at both racism and socialism. These are not our people. Those pointing their fingers at the right over the madman who killed Stephen Tyrone Johns, the good man who tried to be helpful to von Brunn by opening the museum door for him, should look closer to home.

  9. Obama's Spiritual Mentor Admits "Zionist" is Just Code for "Jew"

    —Ace

Admits it by saying that when he said "them Jews," he meant "them zionists."

Tomatoh tamatoh with these people. Whenever they get called on their antisemitism, they claim they just hate Zionists. Well, Wright blamed "them Jews," not "them Zionists." So when speaking his mind, unguardedly, he revealed himself.

What he says now that Wright has been given a talking to by non-Jewish political flacks (told to make the call by "them Jews," of course) is meaningless.

Mel Gibson should have said this, eh? "When I said 'Jews start all the wars,' I meant 'zionists start all the wars.' And when I called that woman 'sugar-tits,' I meant to call her 'sugar-zionists,' too."

Incidentally, on this point Wright is in 100% agreement with Holocaust Museum Murderer Von Braunn. From Von Braunn's notebooks:

Obama was created by Jews. Obama does what his Jew owners tell him to do.
If only them Jews had allowed Von Braunn to speak to Obama, perhaps this crime might have been averted.

Obama: We Must be Vigilant Against Anti-Semetism, But No Way in Hell Could I Possibly Chastise My Former Spirtual Advisor: Vigilance begins in the home, dickbag.

Barack Obama, Resident of the United States:

"This outrageous act reminds us that we must remain vigilant against anti-Semitism and prejudice in all its forms. No American institution is more important to this effort than the Holocaust Museum, and no act of violence will diminish our determination to honor those who were lost by building a more peaceful and tolerant world."

This is so obvious I hate saying it, but yeah: You think the media might notice this if the President whose spiritual advisor was making anti-semitic remarks even as he calls for "vigilance against anti-semitism" were a Republican?

    Hmmm, waht about it DC?

  10. Conservatives have so completely lost their bearings that they can't get their taking points straight. They think a white supremecist is an Obama supporter. The humor in the contradiction of a Geezer Skinhead supporting a black president is evidently lost on them.

They think that somebody (Von Brunn) who was a part of the birther movement (questioning the authenticity of Obama's birth certificate like Limbaugh and our very own Fredward) is a member of the liberal left.

They think that someone who frequently posted and cited info from the website FreeRepublic was a liberal.

I could go on and on citing the identical opinions held by Von Brunn & Rush, Boehner, Palin and Fredward; but I think the point has already been made. And if you persist in saying that Von Brunn was a lefty, I'd like to formally welcome Rush, Fredward, Sister Sarah and the entire Conservative Clown Show to winning side of the aisle. Align yourself any way you wish. We'll just keep laughing our asses off at you.

The conservative movement lead by Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin has become the laughingstock of the political world. Enjoy the Late Night Funnies courtesy of the Conservative Clown Show.

  12. How George Tiller Drove his Own Employee to Join Operation Rescue

    LifeSite ^ | June 12, 2009 | Kathleen Gilbert

ENID, Oklahoma, June 11, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A former employee of Kansas late-term abortionist George Tiller has shared how her gruesome experiences at Tiller's abortion facility drove her away from her pro-choice views and into a life of activism for the rights of the unborn.

Luhra Tivis, who was hired as a temp worker for Tiller and eventually became a full employee for one year, discussed her story Tuesday with the Enid News & Eagle in the wake of Tiller's death May 31. Tiller was shot and killed while serving as an usher in his Lutheran church. His family has stated that Tiller's Wichita abortion facility, Women's Health Care Services, will not reopen.

In addition to normal secretarial work, Tivis told the Eagle that she "underwent some sales training" when she began work in 1988. In a separate testimony, published on the Pro-Life Action League's website, Tivis explained: "I thought they were going to tell me how they want the information sheet filled out and how to keep the phone record and this and that.

"But what I was handed instead was a packet of information - materials to study - on how to be a high-pressure salesperson over the phone, like telemarketing: how to convince somebody to buy your product."

Though Tivis says Tiller assured her at the outset that he only performed late-term abortions on "severely deformed" children or for a medical crisis, Tivis says she soon came to realize that Tiller's words were not consistent with his practice.

“I was seeing eight- and nine-month pregnant women come in,” she said, “and out of those two dozen a week, only about 2 percent had medical deformities. I thought I was pro-choice back then, but week after week I kept seeing these women coming in with healthy babies and I saw all the records. I didn’t think that was right.”

Tivis' testimony is congruent with the allegations of Operation Rescue, who had frequently denounced Tiller for killing perfectly healthy late-term babies. At the time of his death, Tiller was under investigation by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts for performing illegal late-term abortions.

Discussing the typical abortion procedure, Tivis told the Pro-Life Action League in a previous interview: "[the mothers] have a sonogram, first thing and he tells them, 'Oh, you're not that far along.' He's very happy to take their money. Then the first thing he does to them is he kills that baby, because once that baby is dead, they can't change their mind and get their money back.

"He uses the sonogram — a tool for life — to kill the baby. He uses that to guide the needle into the baby's heart and he injects it with digoxin, which is a heart medication and it slows the baby's heart down.

"The second day, the women come in and they have little group counseling sessions, but they don't do any counseling until after that baby is already dead."

Livis described the testimony of a Southwest Kansas woman who had written a letter to Tiller, which Tivis says the abortionist distributed to his staff to read, describing her third-trimester abortion there as "the most horrible experience of her life."

"Although I was not down in the basement for any more than just a few seconds when those women were down there, I got a very vivid description of what actually went on down there from this woman," said Tivis, referring to a room in the facility where women would give birth to their babies' corpses following an abortion. "She said that women were crying and screaming and there was blood everywhere - blood running down their legs and it was just horrible.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I am in so much trouble, because ? I'll tell you why - the governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, is angry with me. Fuming, angry, seeing red, and has called me 'pathetic.' Yup, that's right. Honestly, I haven't been called pathetic - well, since the honeymoon, actually."
    --David Letterman

No, Letterman isn't advocating for Willow's honeymoon.

"But, I won't kid you. I was feeling a little depressed when I heard that the Governor was mad at me and called me 'pathetic.' To cheer myself up, I went out and spent $150,000 on clothes, and I feel better now."
    --David Letterman

No, he isn't accusing Willow of spending ridiculous amounts of money to cheer herself up.

"You know who was in town this weekend, went to a Yankee game? Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska. And she was up there with Rudy Giuliani. They were sitting together. And their seats were, well, let me tell you where their seats were. They were way, way in far right field. They were so far right. Crazy."
    --David Letterman

No, Letterman isn't accusing Willow of being "crazy."

"Sarah Palin got there early and she was taken to her seat, shown to her seat, by Joe the Usher."
    --David Letterman

No, Letterman isn't accusing Willow of relying on the help of a known dipstick like "Joe the Usher."

"While she was at the Yankee game, Sarah Palin managed to spend $150,000 on hats and t-shirts."
    --David Letterman

No, he isn't accusing Willow of getting a pimp hat at Yankee Stadium.

"One awkward moment, though, during the game. Maybe you heard about it, maybe you saw it on one of the highlight reels, one awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game. During the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."
    --David Letterman

No, he isn't joking about Willow getting knocked up. Which one was the one that got knocked up? Bristol?

"But Sarah Palin -- it was exciting, because everybody loves New York City and she spent the entire weekend here in New York City. And late yesterday afternoon, as a matter of fact, she actually pulled out her rifle, and she shot that thing on Donald Trump's head.."
    --David Letterman

No, he isn't accusing Willow of shooting Trump's toupee.

This is why the GOP is in such a sad state. No sense of humor (or even and understanding of the basics of the english language.)

  29. Yes, Capt, the Late Night Funnies never fail. It is so hard to choose from all the jokes. My favorite is The Daily Show, tho. One of the recent bits:

JON STEWART: Reverberations continue over Barack Obama's address to the Muslim world in the Egyptian city of Cairo. It was a speech designed to appeal to Middle Eastern moderates. Was there a hidden agenda?
ON SCREEN: Fox News' Sean Hannity saying Obama wanted to give '9/11 sympathizers a voice on the world stage.' Hannity then plays a clip that appears to back him up.
STEWART: Holy crap! Why doesn't any other news station tell us Obama was giving voice to 9/11 sympathizers?
ON SCREEN: Obama, during his speech, saying he's 'aware there are some who would justify the offense of 9/11 but let us be clear, al Qaeda killed nearly 3,000 people on that day. The victims were innocent men, women and children. These are not opinions to be debated. These are facts'.
STEWART: Oh, that's why. Because if you play the rest of the clip, you see Obama was doing the OPPOSITE of that."

STEWART: "Although, in Sean's defense, if the second half of a sentence was that important, wouldn't it be in the front? While Sean Hannity uses moral certainty to decide and then report, his cohorts have been less straightforward
ON SCREEN: FNC's Bill Hemmer says it's 'interesting' Obama didn't go to Israel on this trip. FNC's Gretchen Carlson also says it's 'interesting' that Obama, before he left, said America could now be considered a 'Muslim nation'.
STEWART: I'm not saying your mother's a whore, I'm just saying, isn't it interesting she has money? And I don't really know what she does during the day."

To make sure those questions are actually answered, Farah said he will use his role to "persuade the candidates to focus more precisely on what was asked."

Seven Republican candidates have confirmed their attendance, but hundreds of encouraging calls are being made to the few remaining unconfirmed candidates. “Blaming Bush just is not going to resonate,” said Ed Gillespie, left, former aide to President George W. Bush.

“Nobody’s trying to duck responsibility or make excuses,” said David Axelrod, right, senior adviser to President Obama.

    Published: June 11, 2009

WASHINGTON — As President Obama struggles to turn around the moribund economy and confront multiple international issues, he wastes few opportunities to remind the country that the problems are not of his making.

“The financial crisis this administration inherited is still creating painful challenges for businesses and families alike,” Mr. Obama said this week as he proposed spending limits.

“We inherited a financial crisis unlike any that we’ve seen in our time,” he said last week as he thrust General Motors into bankruptcy.

His advisers and allies follow the same script. “The Obama administration inherited a situation at Guantánamo that was intolerable,” James L. Jones, the national security adviser, said of the military prison in Cuba. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton defended the Obama foreign policy in the same vein. “We inherited a lot of problems,” she said.

Mr. Obama is hardly the first president to point to his predecessor. Ronald Reagan blamed Jimmy Carter for the poor economy he inherited, just as Bill Clinton blamed the first President Bush and the younger Mr. Bush then blamed Mr. Clinton. Former Bush aides like Karl Rove argue that Mr. Obama has done it more extensively and routinely than other presidents have, although the Obama team denies that.

But at a certain point, a new president assumes ownership of the problems and finds himself answering for his own actions. For Mr. Obama, even some advisers say that moment may be coming soon.

Mr. Obama got a taste of that in recent days as he and his White House were put on the defensive trying to explain why the unemployment rate had risen to 9.4 percent when his staff had predicted it would peak at 8 percent as long as Congress passed his stimulus plan, which lawmakers dutifully did. Mr. Obama obviously did not create the recession passed to him, but it was his administration that set the expectation that his policy would keep it from deepening as far as it has.

No. Not unemployment. Read carefully, it helps.

I'm talking about Job Losses. As you've been told over and over and over again on this blog, unemployment is one of the last things to turn around after a recession. First the bleeding stops (job losses). That is happening right now.

The CCS is so schizoid abou the Dow. They tried to blame the losses on Obama and doesn't know what to do about its rebirth. Intellectual honesty was never a strong suit of the Conservative Clown Show.

As for the Dow's numbers, it tells a spectacular story about our country's economic growth. Look at the historic trend. It ramps up during Bush the Elder's and Clinton presidencies then goes belly up under Bush. The record for peacetime sustained GDP growth (aside from stock market growth)? Yes, back when Big Dawg was president.

This is yet another one of the Legacies of the Conservative Clown Show that Obama has to deal with. So many messes to clean up, so little time (and no help from the CCS).

  44. Analysis: Republicans May Gain Ethics Issue

    Friday, June 12, 2009 4:25 AM

WASHINGTON — The revelation that Democratic appropriations kingpins may face a House ethics investigation of their campaign receipts from lobbyists for recipients of government grants and contracts moves Republicans closer to gaining a corruption issue in 2010.

Republicans know well how lapses in ethical standards can sink a political party. They lost control of the House in the 2006 midterm election, succumbing in part to accusations from Democrats that the GOP had produced a "culture of corruption" in which lobbyists showered gifts on lawmakers in exchange for government contracts and other legislative favors.

The Democratic chairman and senior Republican on the House Ethics Committee dropped their political bomb Thursday night, announcing that the panel is reviewing the practice of lawmakers steering money and contracts to favored companies, and then receiving campaign contributions in return for the "earmarks."

The announcement came months after the Justice Department began a criminal investigation of the matter and a repetition of House votes on Republican motions — all of them defeated — calling for an ethics probe of lawmakers who engage in what is often called a "pay-to-play" system for funneling federal dollars to select companies and projects.

The review could turn into a full-blown ethics investigation later, with the potential for scathing reports that could become campaign fodder.

Democratic Reps. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, Pete Visclosky of Indiana, and Jim Moran of Virginia, all members of the money-dispensing House Appropriations Committee, received significant campaign donations from lobbyists from a defunct firm, PMA, and its clients — companies that got money for pet projects.

Their risk is that Republicans will be able to depict them as the personification of corruption, much in the way Democrats portrayed former Majority Leader Tom DeLay of Texas and ex-GOP Reps. Bob Ney of Ohio and Duke Cunningham of California going into the 2006 election. Ney and Cunningham both were sentenced to federal prison.

Republicans can take credit for smoking out Thursday's announcement of the ethics inquiry. Eight times this year, Republicans kept the PMA issue in the public eye — forcing votes on a resolution demanding an ethics investigation of lawmakers tied to the lobbying firm.

The resolution didn't mention Murtha, chairman of the defense appropriations subcommittee and a legend for steering defense contracts to his western Pennsylvania district. While others who sponsored pet projects also received PMA-related money, politically the resolution was largely about Murtha, a Vietnam Marine Corps veteran who has spent 35 years in the House and is one of Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi's mentors.

While majority Democrats defeated the resolution each time, Republicans kept picking up Democrats with successive votes — many of them first- or second-term lawmakers.

The first vote to demand an inquiry was backed by 17 Democrats, the last by 29. Many of those Democrats had campaigned for strict ethical standards, some winning by narrow margins in what had been Republican districts. They didn't want to chance being branded as hypocrites.

"I come from a town that has a scandal du jour — Chicago. And that (ethics reform) has always been my issue," said Rep. Mike Quigley, D-Ill, who was sworn in as a House member April 21 but wasted no time in supporting the Republican-proposed resolution.

Added Rep. Paul Hodes, D-N.H., "My job is to be an independent voice for New Hampshire."

Some of the Democrats just squeaked through in the last election. Freshman Rep. Bobby Bright of Alabama, who replaced a retiring Republican, won with just over 50 percent of the vote. So did first-termer Walt Minnick, D-Idaho, also elected from a Republican district with less than 51 percent.

Quigley, on the other hand, won about 70 percent of the vote and Rep. Henry Johnson, D-Ga., was unopposed for his second term in 2008.

Pelosi tried to blunt the Republican offensive by arranging a lecture to party members by the former top Democrat on the House Ethics Committee, Rep. Howard Berman of California.

Berman told Democratic colleagues in a closed meeting that there's a right and wrong way to start an ethics investigation. The wrong way was let the minority party initiate one.

"I assume he (Berman) wasn't there by accident," said freshman Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn.

Himes said he voted with the Republicans "because I think it's really important for Congress to clean up the relationship between earmarks and campaign contributions."

In desperation, the Democrats countered with their own resolution — instructing the ethics committee to declare whether they were investigating the link between earmarks and campaign donations. That's just what the committee did Thursday.

    [...]

You can think of that roughly $2 trillion swing as coming from four broad categories: the business cycle, President George W. Bush’s policies, policies from the Bush years that are scheduled to expire but that Mr. Obama has chosen to extend, and new policies proposed by Mr. Obama.

The first category — the business cycle — accounts for 37 percent of the $2 trillion swing. It’s a reflection of the fact that both the 2001 recession and the current one reduced tax revenue, required more spending on safety-net programs and changed economists’ assumptions about how much in taxes the government would collect in future years.

About 33 percent of the swing stems from new legislation signed by Mr. Bush. That legislation, like his tax cuts and the Medicare prescription drug benefit, not only continue to cost the government but have also increased interest payments on the national debt.

Mr. Obama’s main contribution to the deficit is his extension of several Bush policies, like the Iraq war and tax cuts for households making less than $250,000. Such policies — together with the Wall Street bailout, which was signed by Mr. Bush and supported by Mr. Obama — account for 20 percent of the swing.

About 7 percent comes from the stimulus bill that Mr. Obama signed in February. And only 3 percent comes from Mr. Obama’s agenda on health care, education, energy and other areas.

Then they tilt their results in favor of the GOP by including more GOP voters because (as their web site says): "Republicans are a bit more likely to participate in elections than Democrats."

So they begin by tilting their party affiliation in their direction. They tend to count more people as being Reds than other polls. Then they poll more RepubliCONS than Dems because "Republicans are a bit more likely to participate in elections than Democrats. "

Is this statistically verified? In a word, no. In the last two elections Republicans are (NOT) more likely to participate in elections than Democrats. According to who?

According to the guys who monitored the votes.

“A downturn in the number and percentage of Republican voters going to the polls seemed to be the primary explanation for the lower than predicted turnout,” the report said. Compared to 2004, Republican turnout declined by 1.3 percentage points to 28.7 percent, while Democratic turnout increased by 2.6 points from 28.7 percent in 2004 to 31.3 percent in 2008."

When non-conservatives ask why young Muslims are joining Al Qaeda and taking up arms against the US, conservatives consider those questions of no consequence. Understanding the enemy isn't important. 65. For Republicans, the Forces Aren't With Them

There has been much chatter about who now speaks for the Republican Party, and whether the GOP has a message or an agenda to combat President Obama's popularity. Those questions are important to the party's future, but the most serious problem remains the deeper demographic and political forces at work in the country.

For the past few months, political analysts and demographers have been poring over the results of the 2008 election and comparing them with presidential results from the past two decades. From whatever angle of their approach -- age, race, economic status, geography -- they have come to a remarkably similar conclusion. Almost all indicators are pressing the Republicans into minority status.

  68. Ahmadinejad Wins Stanley Cup

In what many are describing as an upset victory of unprecedented proportions, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins last night to win the 2009 Stanley Cup, Iran's Interior Ministry announced today.

According to the ministry, which Mr. Ahmadinejad runs, the Iranian hard-liner defeated the Penguins by a score of 6-0, scoring two hat tricks in the victory.

But Penguins star Evgeni Malkin immediately disputed Mr. Ahmadinejad's claim, arguing that the Iranian president did not even appear in the game.

Mr. Ahmadinejad scoffed at Mr. Malkin's charge, stating, "He's just pissed that I was named MVP."

The Iranian president took time out from celebrating his Stanley Cup win to announce that he had just been named Poet Laureate of England.

  69. I wonder . . .

DHS put out a report about RW extremists. They have all the "Patriot Act" powers, we know they wiretap, sneak and peek warrants are a given.

Who dropped the ball on James von Brunn?

Maybe the insane and unconstitutional powers of FISA court and the rest are just a waste of time and money.

  70. Someone took me to task for equating Islam with murder.
Since I grew up in the middle east I know that Islam is the religion of peace. I would never equate Islam with mass murder of innocent women and children during a funeral march or at Friday prayers nor even shopping for food at the local Suq..

I have taken note lately that whenever someone in most Islamic nations becomes angry about any political matters, people tend to be murdered in large numbers. Perhaps there are single killings but we tend not to hear much of those. Group murders are so much more sexy as far as the media is concerned.

I still hear about so called honor murders because Islam considers it acceptable behavior to kill one's own family if one is unhappy about the behavior of one of them, generally a female. Men are rarely the targets of honor killings.

What I do not hear all that often is clerics demanding that mass murders cease and issuing fatwas against murders of funeral mourners or adherents praying at their local mosques.

Maybe that evil left wing media, or is it right wing, I forget which, is keeping us all in the dark about the clerics demanding that mass murders cease. Maybe not?

Any society that resigns itself to the murder of women and children walking behind a coffin to the graveyard for a funeral, is one I would not wish to equate with peace and love.
