A Hawk Claims Obama "Submits" to the Taliban

The North Koreans launch a missile that fails to place a satellite into orbit and what does former Reagan Pentagon official Frank Gaffney, Jr. say? That this episodes indicates that the evildoers of North Korea could be planning to hit the United States with a super-duper secret electromagnetic pulse weapon that would throw America back into the Stone Age, that the U.S. ought to hit Kim Jong Il hard before such a catastrophe happens (whether an attack on North Korea triggers a major war in Asia or not), and that President Barack Obama is planning to "submit" to the Taliban and Muslim nations. Yes, that's what Gaffney said when he and I discussed--is that the right word?--the North Korean missile launch on Hardball on Monday night. What's the connection between an EMP sneak attack from North Korea and Obama surrendering to the Taliban? I'm not sure. But it's easier to show than to explain:

  1. Good job David. You were much better than the last time. You didn't get interupted as much. Pointing out Gaffney's b/s works better if you get him to shut the fk up until you're done speaking. He asked you a couple times to let him answer and you should've done the same with him.

  2. I heard a clip from Newt on the radio last night.

He was saying we could have just used a laser to blow up the rocket on the launch pad. Or we could have sent in a small group of special forces - no problem.

The fact that Gaffney or anybody would take Newt seriously is insane.

Newt should stick to hunting giraffes. Gaffney should seek some mental health care.

  4. On Countdown last night, Obermann had on Lawrence O'Donnel and he DESTROYED everything "the newt" said on that clip. Wish I could link to it. Capt, you're the best at finding this stuff... if you run across it, please post it here.

Also, Keith Obermann did a real nice tribute to his Mom who died Saturday night, for the last segment.

  5. David. In these debates, Gaffney is really good at controlling the discussion (by style over substance). He comes off as always calm and cool while spewing nothing more than opinion and fantasies. He is really good at interjecting himself when you are talking (and thus maintaining control over the discussion). You have to reassert the facts and yourself into these debates without coming off as defensive. He is a smug, condescending and yet incredibly superficial debater who values the appearance of winning points by maintaining control over the discussion than presenting real facts. With all due respect, you need to take that away from him with both style and substance.

His tribute to his mom was very touching too.

  7. I will never cease to find it sad just how much the FEAR card works. The FEAR argument is what drove us into Iraq, it's what keeps us talking about the pathetic loser which leads the PRK, it is what is used to raise the boogeyman of Iran, Mexicans, and even strangers who use public bathrooms.

Until people start calling out the fearmongers, they are going to continue with their pathetic attempts to scare us.

The fact that the guy uses FEAR of N Korea as his main argument is a sure sign of the complete bankruptcy of his argument. It is laughable, it is pathetic, it is sad, and it is not worthy of television.

Next time, David, please call him out for the remarkably shallow scared ****less bedwetter he is, and ask him to cry to his mommy in private, not make such a sad spectacle of himself on TV.

Are the GOP going for the super-crazy prize? I mean who is the craziest? Michelle Bachman, Newt, Cantor, McConnel, - the list goes on and on.

  9. I thought the RWNJ's had lost it years ago. I never thought Bush could win because I didn't take him or the GOP seriously.

Maybe it is a good thing we are hearing so much lunacy from the RW - they are divorcing themselves from the rest of the county.

I think they have forgotten that some (maybe even most) rank and file republicans are not completely insane. The kind of stuff they are saying now really scares people into being more centrist.

The far RW that HAS been the voice of their party (Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, etc.) and the group of lemming is shrinking by the day.

Maybe they have to completely lose it before they even know they have to try to find it again?

  12. Capt, thanks for the Countdown post. I just watched the O'Donnel clip again. Too bad we can't make all the wingnuts watch it so they'll realize the truth.

  13. Gaffney's paranoia is Cheneyesque. If there is a 1% chance that someone may cause you harm in the future, go forth and kill his entire family and look for a new potential enemy to kill next.

Cheney spent more than 2 decades practicing a response to an attack on DC. In 2001 he got his chance to react. His reaction will wind up costing this nation several trillion dollars and many thousands of dead soldiers. How sad that no one stopped him and no one called a halt to his major domo, David Addington, the least American person to have ever served this nation.
