At a recent speech in Alaska before a Republican crowd, Governor Sarah Palin complained that during the presidential race last year she had no one on the McCain campaign with whom she could pray at a crucial moment. (And in a big shocker, she slammed the media for treating her unfairly.) Then there's GOP chairman Michael Steele, who says he might consider running for president--that is, if God gives him a sign. What's with all this God-talk from GOPers with less-than-impressive track records as political leaders? On Thursday night, we hashed it out on Hardball:

Good job David. Tweety didn't interupt you near as often as last time. Speaking of last time... it took someone the next day to point out WHAT YOU WERE TRYING TO TELL HIM. Then he took another look and did a whole new segment on it. Don't let him interupt! Make sure you get the point across, even if you gotta whop 'im upside the head with it.

DC,
"What's with all this God-talk from GOPers with less-than-impressive track records as political leaders? "
Clearly some people fill some kind of a void with religiosity - that is not really religion.
Maybe these empty shells of politicians only hope is some miraculous supernatural intervention?

David, what's wrong with you? Clearly you've forgotten that religious conservatives (and those politicians, sincere or not, who desire their support) are on God's side while all others are not, they know God's will while others do not, and they are directed by God to use government to advance their understanding of His kingdom no matter what others may believe or desire.

What can anyone do? Argue with GAWD?
If GAWD says push the button you can rest assured Palin would push the button - you betcha!
There was a time, not so long ago when politicians were careful about the mere mention of religion. Maybe they old ways were wise but all the God-talk nowadays seems to have diluted any reverence.
All the God-squawk these days makes consideration of sincere religion about as believable as snake oil salesmen were in the old west. Some people swear by them but more and more people see through the BS.

Palin is a little needy to require a prayer partner. Why couldn't she drop to her knees and commune with the great power of the universe one on one?
Maybe I just don't have enough Xtian spirit!

Maybe Palin is implying McCain didn't win because he wasn't praying?
See, she can win in 2012 if she just gets a little more Godly people to run with her.
You betcha!
