Flashback three years. Below is an item I posted on September 1, 2005. With Gustav hitting today, it's a reminder of what happened last time a hurricane hit New Orleans.
Two AP photos from this past Tuesday, placed side by side, tell a story.

Here a fellow named George W. Bush is having a delightful time playing a guitar given to him by country singer Mark Wills after a visit to Naval Base Coronado in sunny southern California. It's fun to be president.

Here firefighters and rescue workers try to cope with the worst disaster to strike Americans since 9/11. It is not a good day for them.

Meanwhile, don't forget what John McCain was doing back then.

DC -
Once again, your lib goggles have caused you to miss the point completely.
The more revealing photos would have been -
1. The Dem mayor Nagin beside a photo of the parking lot FULL of unused buses, meant for evacuation.
2. The Dem senator using state resources to get him to his house, in order to retrieve his "freezer cash".
3. The MSM reporting "rapes and murders" in the Superdome that never happened.
4. The entire Landrieu family AWOL before and during Katrina, but pointing fingers at Washington after the storm.
5. Gov Jindal (R-LA) on the ground, DIRECTING preparation activities PRIOR to the arrival of hurricane Gustav.
6. A graph illustrating the total dollars provided to NOLA by Washington vs the total dollars spent by NOLA Dems (prior to Jindal being elected) on emergency planning and infrastructure SINCE Katrina.
The role of the federal government is to ASSIST in the preparation and aftermath of such natural disasters.
The role of the state is to EXECUTE A PLAN DURING a natural disaster. Nagin and Landrieu claimed that there were not enough National Guardsmen because of the Iraq war, yet Gov Jindal said he had "sufficient" Guard resourses for any eventuality related to this storm.
The Dems had controlled the state for generations, and had allowed the ENTIRE state to deteriorate, including the infrastructure.
Pray for NOLA, and God Bless America.
Cheers.

ps to capt - Good job on reiterating the liberal left's reliance on personal attacks!!! Careful, or Ms. Obama's history may be opened for critical review.

"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits," Obama said. "And people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics."
No one wants "open season" on the political families.

"On Feb. 2, 1961, several months after they met, Obama's parents got married in Maui, according to divorce records. It was a Thursday. At that point, Ann was three months pregnant with Barack Obama II."
And Barack I was alredy married at the time! Go Dems, drive this pregnancy issue HOME!!!!
Cheers.

That sucking sound is about half of the "Focus on the Family" crowd making a "U" turn on McCain.
Not the kind of family values the Kkkristian kooks are trying to sell.

Teach your Children Well
(CSN&Y)
You who are on the road
must have a code that you can live by
and so become yourself
because the past is just a goodbye
Teach your children well
their father's hell
will slowly go by
and feed them on your dreams
the one they picks
the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why
if they told you, you would cry
so just look at them and sigh
and know they love you.
And you, of tender years
can't know the fears
that your elders grew by
and so please help them with your youth
they seek the truth
before they can die.
(Can you hear and do you care
and can't you see we must be free
to teach our children what you believe in
make a world that we can believe in)
Teach your parents well
their children's hell
will slowly go by
and feed them on your dreams
the one they picks
the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why
if they told you, you would cry
so just look at them and sigh
and know they love you.

"Despite being one of the most televised and watched political events in history, a poll out today by CNN shows that Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama did not receive the expected "bounce" in the polls. The poll found that the Obama/Biden ticket was favored by 49% of those polled compared to 48% who favored the McCain/Palin ticket, well within the statistical margin of error. "
"This last week proved a lot. It proved that people are not flocking to support Obama. It proved that people are tired of the same talking points and the same speech. It proves that people are hungering for change, and Obamas speech and his VP pick did not provide it. 2008 is not the Democrats year to win, but to lose. And unless the Democrats get serious, they will lose this year. Unless Obama gets serious, this will be the beginning of the end for him."
ps - by the way capt, there's no "Y" in the credits for writing OR singing "Teach Your Children", but being a Barak Hussein Obama supporter, I suppose the use of facts and accuracy are optional!!!
Cheers

Poll: Obama gets 'convention bounce'
In the head-to-head race between the candidates, Obama now leads 50%-43% among registered voters. In the USA TODAY poll taken Aug. 21-23, the Illinois senator held a four-point lead.
The new USA TODAY survey shows Americans settling into their choices. Now, 21% of registered voters say they either haven't decided or might change their minds. In a USA TODAY poll before the convention began, 30% were swing voters.

"The latest CNN/Opinion Research Poll released today suggests the addition of running mates has not fundamentally changed the presidential race between John McCain and Barack Obama, who is holding a statistically insignificant 49%-48% lead over McCain."
CNN - a member of the "vast right-wing conspiracy"!!!!

Obama Gains Among Former Clinton Supporters
PRINCETON, NJ -- The Democratic convention appears to have helped solidify support for Barack Obama among former Hillary Clinton supporters, with the percent saying they will vote for Obama in November moving from 70% pre-convention to 81% after the convention, and the percent certain to vote for Obama jumping from 47% to 65%.

While it's unfortunate that Palin has a 4mo old baby and a daughter that's pregnant, it is also unfortunate that Alaska has no governor. It adds up that the daughter was fooling around while the mom was having a baby.
So how old is the father of the baby being carried by Miss Palin?
The reason I ask is that my niece is rotting in an Ohio jail. The jail time was for parole violation. Her violation was not admitting in group sessions that she had remorse for stalking and molesting the 15 year old maniac that raped her and left her pregnant. Since he was a minor his violent record and past abuses were kept out of court. And while still a minor he has added another rape to the list. Of course his home life sucked as if this is an excuse. I have a grand niece who is being traumatized living with two disfunctional grand parents.
Lets hear it for family values everywhere!
By the way, lets do some more math. Sarah Palin has been governor for 20 months. She has a 4 month old baby. She was pregnant for 9 months before that. It certainly breaks the glass ceiling to know we can turn over the biggest job on the planet to someone who can raise four kids, give birth and return to work. Now she'll be a grandmother in time for inauguration day.

The most important math:
Palin has been gov. one month LESS than Obama has been running for president.
