I recently wonderedif McCain was getting close to creating an unfortunate (for him) campaign narrative: he's not with it. The latest evidence:
Asked by ABC's Diane Sawyer Monday morning whether the "the situation in Afghanistan in precarious and urgent," McCain responded:
"I think it's serious. . . . It's a serious situation, but there's a lot of things we need to do. We have a lot of work to do and I'm afraid it's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq/Pakistan border," said McCain, R-Ariz., said on "Good Morning America."
Iraq and Pakistan do not share a border. Afghanistan and Pakistan do.
Okay, he probably meant to say the "Afghanistan/Pakistan" border. But can you imagine if Barack Obama made a similar verbal slip? The McCain camp would declare it proof he is unfit to command. And media commentators would howl. (Have you noticed that much of the media coverage of Obama's overseas trip is framed this way: the trip is fraught with risk....for if he makes any mistake overseas, he's done for?)
Yet with McCain, this is just another....eh, McCain moment. Like when he repeatedly mixed up Sunni and Shia. And when he kept referring to Czechoslovakia (a country that no longer exists). And when he couldn't accurately describe (or remember) his stands on key policy matters. (See the posting below.) How many passes does McCain get? I don't know. But this is one envelope he doesn't want to push.

DC,
WHat can thhe GOP and the McCain camp so? He will keep on gaffing and they will keep on excusing and the M$M will keep reporting his maverickness!
See, he is just like every other $100 millionaire that takes $7,000 a month in a government check - a normal guy, you know? Reminds me of this guy that says New-Que-lar.
Maybe that tactic will work?
Thanks for all of your work

In assuming that Sawyer chose not to embarrass McCain by confronting his gaffe, you're assuming Sawyer knows there's no Iraq/Pakistan border. I no longer make that assumption about newspeople.

What's it matter, at this point? I don't know of any REAL conservatives, even here, who are taking McShame serioiusly. 'Course, even Lindsey Graham was deemed "Not Conservative Enough" here in the Upstate!
I'm thinkin' it might be fun to go campaigning for Bob Barr 'round here. Far more interesting conversations about him than about "Maverick-Messy-Pants"...absolutely NO Dead-Man-Walking enthusiasm whatsoever...

mcsame gets $1,930 a month from "broken" social security system
http://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/stories/2008/07/14/daily79.html
Republican presidential candidate John McCain cashes his monthly Social Security checks despite calling the federal program "a disgrace," the Associated Press reports.
"I'm receiving benefits," McCain told campaign reporters, but added, "the system is broken."
In 2006, McCain's wife Cindy earned $6 million, and has a net worth of approximately $100 million

awesome, phony villification at it's finest!
isn't this referred to as hypocricy?

Q: how many obamas does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: quite a few, but still, less than the number of mcsames that it would take!

MSM is afraid of reporting all of McCain's gaffes. If it happens that McCain's senility becomes common knowledge before the election the GOP will accuse the Liberal Media of tanking his candidacy and will try to punish the media in the future by assuring tax problems as well as lack of accessibility to newmakers.
Everyone knows that the right wing is composed of vindictive scum. They also know that the liberals will not go out of their way to punish the rightwing media like the GOP would.
I don't much care for the Dems but I absolutely abhor all of the right wing monarchy group that thinks money equals brains, free speech and privileges for its criminal progeny.

I was just thinking about the $2,000.00 McCain gets in Social Security?
He had to APPLY for it, he had to ASK for it, even his disability - he had to FILE for it.
He had to do so AFTER he was a multi-millionaire?
No wonder he thinks the system is broken - he is breaking it as we speak.
Grrrrrr

McCain had to have applied for Social Security about 6 years ago (when he turned 65) so since he ran for president in 2000. Add that the guy has so much money he couldn't count it all in his lifetime and yet he has to ASK the government for $2,000.00 a month because he can?
Is that integrity or good character?
What would the M$M say about Barack if the shoe was on the other foot?
