McCain surrounded by lobbyists! McClellan telling the truth about Bush White House lies! Obama and Clinton tussling over what to do about the Florida and Michigan delegations! This is all important stuff. But what about policy? There's always plenty of media coverage for political developments. Policy matters....well, you know. It's the poor cousin in the house. Which is why I was delighted to receive a press release from the Democratic National Committee today that zeroed in on John McCain's stance on nuclear proliferation--which is one of the more important policy topics a president must handle.
The oppo research team at the DNC discovered that McCain has been inconsistent in articulating his policy in this area. And in the missive they zapped out to reporters they shared the evidence. In a Foreign Affairs article published last December, McCain wrote,
The nuclear nonproliferation regime is broken for one clear reason: the mistaken assumption behind the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) that nuclear technology can spread without nuclear weapons eventually following....The next U.S. president must convene a summit of the world's leading powers -- none of which have an interest in seeing a world full of nuclear-armed states -- with three agenda items. First, the notion that non-nuclear-weapons states have a right to nuclear technology must be revisited.
Yet in a speech he delivered a few days ago, McCain said,
But in order to take advantage of civilian nuclear energy, we must do a better job of ensuring it remains civilian. Some nations use the pretense of civilian nuclear programs as cover for nuclear weapons programs. We need to build an international consensus that exposes this deception, and holds nations accountable for it....I would support international guarantees of nuclear fuel supply to countries that renounce enrichment and reprocessing, as well as the establishment of multinational nuclear enrichment centers in which they can participate. Nations that seek nuclear fuel for legitimate civilian purposes will be able to acquire what they need under international supervision.
So a short time ago, McCain declared that spreading civilian nuclear technology undermines efforts to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons and he advocated a policy prescription: stop non-nuclear countries from developing nuclear energy. Yet now he says that it's fine for other nations to pursue nuclear energy, as long as there is appropriate international supervision. So which is it? Is the proliferation of nuclear technology a problem or not?
This is not a case of gotcha politics. At this point in his long career as a national security-minded legislator, McCain should have clear thoughts on this critical subject. Yet he's contradicting himself on a key issue. In addition to all the other stories in the news these days, this sure deserves front-page treatment.

All evidence points to its success. He has the Homeschooler's vote. Homeschool thought he lived in one of the more "Affullent" states in the Union, remember? Gramps has got the West Coast Moron Vote in the bag. Too. Funny.
But not as funny as the Late Nite Crew:
"You know who did not get a break last week? John McCain. Who took a lot of heat over his endorsement from two controversial preachers, Rod Parsley and John Hagee. Now, I'm not a big fan of Reverend Hagee. He lost me when he called the Catholic church the 'apostate church' and 'the great whore.' I've got no problem with the apostate part, because I don't know what that word means. But the great whore? You're talking about a religion that is against condoms and the pill. We would be terrible whores. Unless you're into pregnant whores, in which case, shame on you."
--Jon Stewart
STEPHEN COLBERT: Now at first, it looked like McCain was gonna stand by his man, until footage surfaced of a Hagee sermon about the Holocaust and it went a little something like this
ON SCREEN: audio clip of Hagee's sermon, in which he said God allowed the Holocaust to happen as a warning to the Jews to come back to Israel.
COLBERT: That is right. God used the Holocaust to send the Jews a message. Remember, this was before E-vites. So last week, John McCain rejected Hagee's endorsement, saying 'When someone endorses me, that does not mean that I embrace their views.' True, McCain quoted Hagee's endorsements not because he believed what Hagee believed, but because he believed something much more important. It would get him votes. It's called faith."
"John McCain's in the news. Earlier today, John McCain released 1,200 pages of his medical records. Or, as his doctor calls it, Chapter One."
--Conan O'Brien
"Speaking of McCain's medical records, John McCain's doctor says that McCain's service in the Vietnam War is unlikely to have any affect on his health. I think that's great. Yeah. However, the doctor says that McCain's health might be affected by his service in the Civil War. ... A slight musket wound in the toe."
--Conan O'Brien
"John McCain today made public his medical records. It was a huge document, almost 1,200 pages long. More than 84 pages on his ear hair alone. ... I guess somebody went through it. He's in great shape. Doctors say he could potentially live all the way through 2010. So that's good news."
--Jimmy Kimmel
"Hey, good news for John McCain. He announced this week he had his best fundraising month ever. $18.5 million. That, plus what he gets from Social Security, so that works out."
--Jay Leno
"I guess McCain is scheduled to meet with three possible vice presidential nominees this weekend at his home. The candidates are very excited to go. They say the only downside -- they hate it when he keeps pushing that bowl of ribbon candy on them. 'Try the butterscotch.'"
--Jay Leno
"Actually, The only other uncomfortable thing about McCain's household is plastic on the furniture."
--Jay Leno
"On the news, they stress that these vice presidential meetings were only preliminary. And before any final decision is made, they say that McCain will sit down with his senior advisers. His senior advisers? The guy is 71. What, are they from the Millard Fillmore administration?"
--Jay Leno
"And McCain released 1,200 pages of medical documents this week, to prove that he is healthy. 1,200 pages to prove he's healthy? Man. Man, how many does Dick Cheney have? My God!"
--Jay Leno
JON STEWART: The Clintons. Simple people who want but one thing -- to live peacefully in a country they, themselves, run. It had been that way once. In a time called the 90's. But by the turn of the century, these proud people had been forced from their home by a combination of constitutional necessity, a male libido that can only be described as Sheen-esque, and
ON SCREEN: video of Hillary Clinton talking about the 'vast right-wing conspiracy'.
JON STEWART: Well, now it appears the Clinton effort to return to their ancestral home has galvanized a new enemy. No, not the American voter who has rejected them by almost all measurable standards and metrics, but
ON SCREEN: video of Bill Clinton talking about the 'frantic effort' to push Hillary out of the race, and that she is winning the general election.
JON STEWART: Oh, the media! And the Democratic party is covering up Senator Clinton's victory. It is a vast left-wing conspiracy.
Oh my God, they're being attacked by both wings. My God, this conspiracy is bi-wing-gual! ... Although to me, the real news here is that apparently Bill Clinton believes his wife is winning the "general election." Which, as you may know, has not occurred yet. It's their final appeal to the coveted time machine demographic.
"According to the financial forms, President Bush has actually lost money while he's been in the White House. But he says he will get it all back and much more, once the Nigerian businessman he's dealing with on the internet transfers the money into his account"

Obama Hopes to Change Course on Unilateral Meetings
He means what he says until he doesn't. And he usually doesn't after the right punches him.
By Erick
In another cave to the right wing bloggers and Rush Limbaugh who have been pounding him, Obama is trying to nuance his way out of his former statements on meeting unilaterally with American enemies.
So egregious is his backpedaling, even the New York Times is willing to point it out:
This week, Mr. Obama said that he was still considering meeting with Iranian leaders, though he would not necessarily guarantee a direct meeting with Mr. Ahmadinejad.
“There is no reason why we would necessarily meet with Ahmadinejad before we know that he is actually in power,” Mr. Obama told reporters. “He is not the most powerful person in Iran.”
But, let's go back to his original statement before he decided to cave to Rush and the bloggers:
The caveats belie the simple answer Mr. Obama gave during a debate last summer, when the issue was first raised in a major public forum. Without hesitation or qualification, Mr. Obama said he would hold direct talks with America’s enemies, drawing strong and immediate criticism from his rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.
“Would you be willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries?” asked Stephen Sixta, a video producer who submitted the question for the CNN/YouTube Democratic debate.
Mr. Obama, the first candidate to respond, answered, “I would.”
Several aides immediately thought it was a mistake and sought to dial back his answer. But on a conference call the morning after the debate, Mr. Obama told his advisers that he had meant what he said and thought the answer crystallized how he differed from his rivals.
Obama only means what he says until he doesn't.
And if he'll cave like that to the right, how fast will he cave to China and Iran?

Wow! It's almost as hard following this guy on policy as it is Pansy!

ELECTION 2008
Obama's military claims inconsistent with records
Speeches apparently contradict autobiography, Army documents
By Aaron Klein
© 2008 WorldNetDaily
Sen. Barack Obama delivering New Mexico speech
Two days after a speech in which Sen. Barack Obama erroneously claimed his uncle helped liberate the Auschwitz concentration camp, inconsistencies remain regarding the much-touted military service of the presidential candidate's family.
During the Memorial Day speech in New Mexico, Obama suggested his grandfather, the late Stanley Dunham, engaged in combat. But the Democratic senator's autobiography says his grandfather never saw "real combat." Also, Army records apparently contradict Obama's claim his grandfather signed up the day after the Pearl Harbor attack.
As WND reported, Obama told the New Mexico audience, which included military veterans, his uncle was part of the division that freed Auschwitz. But bloggers and the Republican National Committee immediately pointed out the Nazi death camp was liberated by the Soviet Union in January 1945. The campaign later said it actually was Obama's great uncle who helped liberate Ohrdruf, a sub-camp of the Buchenwald Nazi concentration camp.
Obama several times has suggested his grandfather served in combat.
During Monday's speech, Obama said: "My grandfather marched in Patton's Army, but I cannot know what it is to walk into battle like so many of you."
In a 2002 anti-war speech, Obama told the audience, "My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton's army. He saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe; he heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka. He fought in the name of a larger freedom, part of that arsenal of democracy that triumphed over evil, and he did not fight in vain."
But in his autobiography, "Dreams of My Father," Obama states his grandfather never engaged in combat.
"Gramps returned from the war never having seen real combat, and the family moved to California, where he enrolled at Berkeley under the GI bill," he writes. "But the classroom couldn't contain his ambitions, his restlessness, and so the family moved again."
Obama's 2002 claim his grandfather enlisted in the Army the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor is contradicted by Army records showing Dunham signed up June 18, 1942 – six months after Pearl Harbor.
Obama's campaign did not immediately return a WND request for clarification.
In his Memorial Day speech, Obama was using the stories of his grandfather and great uncle to promote better benefits for troops.
"Now obviously, something had really affected him deeply, but at that time there just weren't the kinds of facilities to help somebody work through that kind of pain," Obama said of his great uncle.
"That's why this idea of making sure that every single veteran, when they are discharged, are screened for post-traumatic stress disorder and given the mental health services that they need – that's why it's so important."
Obama made another gaffe in the speech, saying he saw "fallen heroes" in the audience. The statement apparently was scrubbed from an official transcript on Obama's campaign website.

Obama Can't Even Run a Clothing Store
Primetime Politics ^ | May 29, 2008 | Editors
Need a laugh today?
Head over to the BarackObama.com store and check out the comments. You’ll detect a common theme in a hurry. Here’s a sample:
I waited over two months for my shirt only to receive a call this morning, saying it would NEVER arrive.
Two months for NOTHING is a disappointment, to say the least.
I give money to this campaign every single pay day, like clockwork, and have for nearly a year, but they can’t figure out a way to get me one lousy shirt.
and another:
ordered my shirt and was charged to my Visa March 31st. When I ordered it did not state it was backordered. I had specifically waited until it didnt state that to order. I have sent emails asking why Obama has used my money yet not delivered a simple tshirt. Just the simple canned automatic response. I too have reservations and wonder if this issue is a symptom of a larger issue with this campaign. While my 30 dollars will not set me back, it does show a lack of organization that you cant get a simple 3 dollar shirt to someone over the course of 6 weeks…

Most people would be more careful about not saying such assinine stuff after getting caught being an idiot. Just when we think we've educated you, you prove you've become a finer idiot. Your flubs on not knowing the composition of your own state and the status of the long-deceased Tim McVeigh (and the list goes on and on and on) show people just what an ignoramus you are. It may feel like an insult and I don't blame you for whining incessantly about the "trolls" on this blog; but it wouldn't be so bad if you just didn't write stuff that was sooooo hilarious.
That's why I'm the only person on this blog that has consistently defended your presence on this blog. You are a living, breathing example of the dead-enders and die-hard KoolAid enema users in the Dead Man Walking party. If anyone needed a reason to flee the party (as they have in record numbers), they only need to see you standing there as the flag-bearer for your party.

The Cook Report, Stu Rothenberg, and other election experts are all predicting a Dem Landslide again and are optimistic that McBush will be sent home to spend more time with Cindy Lou Homewrecker.
Stick to the script. Copy and Paste your stuff and it'll be the Dingbat pundits that get the smackdown, not you. I'm trying to go easy on you, but you make it too easy. The Late Nite Comedians feel the same way about Gramps. Gramps is a Sitting Target.
And as you pointed out, Gramps is running behind Obama while he campaigns against HRC AND Gramps, almost 20 EVs behind not counting WI, and not counting VA if Webb is his VP choice. That's a 290 to 248 EV knockout. Remember what your friend diff said, Gramps is toast

That's your example? A Senate hearing? The one that Obummer confused Iran and Iraq in? A Senate hearing that he showed up for to grand stand on TV? He was a total let down in his questioning and admitted that the surge is working.
McCain challenged your boy to go to Iraq and see first hand what's going on there so McCain could homeschool your boy.
Now Obummer say's he might go to Iraq this summer.
McCain is setting the agenda and being on the offense and your boy is cowering to McCain and looking more like a State Senator rookie.

Concerning the service of Mr. Charles Payne: C.T. Payne was a soldier in the 89th Infantry Division. He served in the 355th Infantry Regiment, Company K. The 355th Infantry Regiment was the unit to liberate Ohrdruf. Mr. Payne was there.
For those who seek to minimize the horrors of Ohrdruf since it was a 'work' camp and not a 'death' camp, we have but one word: shame. Ironically, this argument has been made to us time and time again by various Holocaust-deniers and other pro-Nazi groups. We will let the testimony of survivors and veterans speak for themselves.
"It has been recorded that in Ordruf itself the last days were a slaughterhouse. We were shot at, beaten and molested. At every turn went on the destruction of the remaining inmates. Indiscriminant criminal behavior (like the murderers of Oklahoma City some days ago). Some days before the first Americans appeared at the gates of Ordruf, the last retreating Nazi guards managed to execute with hand pistols, literally emptying their last bullets on whomever they encountered leaving them bleeding to death as testified by an American of the 37th Tank Battalion Medical section, 10 a.m. April 4, 1945.
Today I'm privileged thanks to G-d and you gallant fighting men. I'm here to reminisce, and reflect, and experience instant recollections of those moments. Those horrible scenes and that special instance when an Allied soldier outstretched his arm to help me up became my re-entrance, my being re-invited into humanity and restoring my inalienable right to a dignified existence as a human being and as a Jew. Something, which was denied me from September 1939 to the day of liberation in 1945. I had no right to live and survived, out of 80 members of my family, the infernal ordeal of Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Ordruf, and its satellite camp Crawinkle and finally Theresinstadt Ghetto-Concentration Camp."

Carlsbad, CA -- Tonight at the "All Things Digital" conference sponsored by the Wall Street Journal, Rupert Murdoch -- Chairman of News Corp, new WSJ owner, and longtime torchbearer for conservative politics -- said this about Barack Obama: "He is a rock star. It's fantastic" "I love what he is saying about education." "I don't think he will win Florida.....but he will win in Ohio and the election". "I am anxious to meet him." "I want to see if he will walk the walk."
About the presumptive Republican nominee, Murdoch said, "McCain is a friend of mine. He's a patriot. But he's unpredicatble. Doesn't seem to know much about the economy. He has been in Congress a long time, and you have to make a lot of compromises. So what's he really stand for?... I think he has a lot of problems."

Sens. John McCain and Chuck Hagel have long been friends. Fellow Republicans and Vietnam War veterans, their Senate offices are just across the hall from each other.
But at least during the presidential primary, Hagel's wife, Lilibet, is helping McCain's likely Democratic rival, Barack Obama.
According to Federal Election Commission records, Mrs. Hagel donated twice to Obama's campaign in February for a total contribution of $500. The contributions were first reported by the Washington Post

White women cold towards Obama
By DAVID PAUL KUHN | 5/29/08 3:14 PM
Barack Obama’s favorability ratings among white women have significantly depreciated in recent months, particularly among Democrats and independents, posing an immediate obstacle for the likely Democratic nominee as he moves to shore up his party’s base.
According to a new report by The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, half of white women now have a negative perception of Obama.
Forty-nine percent of white women view Obama unfavorably, while only 43 percent hold a favorable opinion. In February, 36 percent of these women viewed Obama unfavorably while 56 percent had a positive perception of the likely Democratic nominee.
Over the same period, Democratic white women’s negative view of Obama increased from 21 to 35 percent, while their positive view decreased from 72 to 60 percent – roughly the same rate as white women overall

O Losing In States He's Won
nypost.com ^ | May 29, 2008 | Carl Campanile
A new polling analysis spells potential trouble in the fall for Democratic front-runner Barack Obama: He struggles against Republican candidate John McCain even in states where he defeated Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In the 28 states won by Obama, he has an average 45 percent of voters compared to McCain's 46 percent, according to the Gallup survey.
These states include Obama's home turf of Illinois, along with Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia and the battleground states of Colorado, Oregon, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Missouri.
In a McCain-Clinton matchup in those same states, McCain has 47 percent to Clinton's 45 percent.
By comparison, Clinton clobbers McCain, 50 percent to 43 percent, in the 20 states where the New York senator carried primaries and caucuses against Obama.
Clinton strongholds included solidly Democratic New York and California, as well as battleground states Pennsylvania, Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico and West Virginia.
McCain averages 46 percent to Obama's 43 percent in the Clinton states.
The Gallup analysis bolsters Clinton's contention she'd have a better chance than Obama in defeating McCain.
"Clinton appears to have the stronger chance of capitalizing on her primary strengths in the general election," said Gallup pollster Lydia Saad.
"At this stage in the race, there is some support for her argument that . . . she would be stronger than Obama in the general election."

McCain to Skip Climate Vote Next Week
Despite stressing the issue on the stump, McCain says he won’t be in the Senate to vote on a landmark bill imposing mandatory greenhouse gases limits.
“I have not been there for a number of votes. The same thing happened in the campaign of 2000. The people of Arizona understand I’m running for president.”

Sure, planning to miss vote might not bug the people of Arizona but he is suppose to be running for president of all the states and missing impotant votes that are about issues he wants to speak to on the stump really comes across as insincere or just pandering.

Obama May Visit Iraq, On One Condition
He Would Go to Ensure Defeat
By Mark I
The Obama campaign continues flailing around wildly when challenged on Sen. Obama's lack of foreign policy chops. Last week, Obama flipped and flopped over the issue of his pledge to meet with Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, telling one audience that he would let Chavez set the agenda for such a meeting, and another that Venezuela should be internationally isolated.
This week, he is trying to "clarify" his promise to meet face to face, without pre-conditions, with the leader of Iran. Even the New York Times recognized the desperation with which the Obama campaign is trying to back off from the candidate's naive views on meeting with America's enemies.
Now Sen. Obama is under fire from Sen. John McCain for not having been to Iraq in over two years. McCain challenged Obama to go to Iraq and see the difference that the troop surge has made in that time. McCain even offered to go with Obama to show him around. The Obama campaign first dismissed the call as a "political stunt." But now it has decided that Obama may indeed go to Iraq, just not to see how American and Iraqi troops are winning the war. Obama wants to go to figure out how to withdraw.
This morning on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Obama campaign Communications Director Robert Gibbs said the following when asked if Obama would consider going to Iraq.
"Well, as he said yesterday Mika, it's under discussion about going overseas and going to Iraq sometime between now and the campaign. You know, I don't think we'll be taking that trip with John McCain because as Senator Obama said yesterday, the work that the men and women in our military are doing over there is just far too important for them to be props in some sort of political stunt or photo-op. You know, what they're doing over there is separated from their families, giving for their country. It's truly, truly amazing, and I think we would want to go over there and talk to them and see what sort of difficulties they're facing and see how it is that we can begin to carefully remove them and carefully bring them back to their families and bring them back to the United States."
The Obama campaign won't go to see how the U.S. is winning because that would constitute using the troops as "props" in a "political stunt" and "photo-op." But going over to find out the "difficulties" they are having and to figure out how to "begin to carefully remove them" is not? Nonsense.
The real story here is that Obama has no interest in what is really happening in Iraq, unless it fits his predetermined view that the war is lost. The message from the Obama campaign is clear. Sen. Obama would meet with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez without pre-conditions and without pre-judging the agenda items, but he won't go meet with the troops in Iraq unless it is on his terms. He would go to make sure America lost if it would help him win.

CNN: Military Sources Respond To McCain’s Escalation Remark With ‘Laughter Down The Line’
Yesterday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) told radio host Bill Bennett that President Bush’s escalation is working. “There are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods, today,” he said. Today, when CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked McCain why Americans still aren’t able to safely leave the Green Zone in Iraq, the senator replied that Blitzer was giving three-month-old talking points:
General Petraeus goes out there almost every day in an unarmed humvee. I think you oughta catch up. You are giving the old line of three months ago. I understand it. We certainly don’t get it through the filter of some of the media.
But according to CNN reporter Michael Ware, who has been in Iraq for four years, McCain is “way off base.” He stated, “To suggest that there’s any neighborhood in this city where an American can walk freely is beyond ludicrous. I’d love Sen. McCain to tell me where that neighborhood is and he and I can go for a stroll.”
Ware also rebutted McCain’s assertion that Petaeus travels in an unarmed humvee: “[I]n the hour since Sen. McCain’s said this, I’ve spoken to military sources and there was laughter down the line. I mean, certainly the general travels in a humvee. There’s multiple humvees around it, heavily armed.”

A little-noticed civil lawsuit in Florida is shining a light on an unusual but hugely profitable Pentagon contract to ship millions of gallons of aviation fuel to U.S. bases in Iraq through the kingdom of Jordan.
The deal involves a cast of influential characters, including the king of Jordan’s brother-in-law, who is suing Harry Sargeant III, a top Florida-based fundraiser for Sen. John McCain’s presidential bid.
Al-Saleh alleges in the lawsuit that after he arranged the deal, he was cut out in a scheme meant to defraud him. He claims that he and Sargeant and the third partner, Mustafa Abu-Naba’a, a Jordanian businessman, had invested in IOTC Jordan in 2004. But, he says, Sargeant and Abu-Naba’a committed fraud by forming another company called IOTC USA in Florida without informing him and by channeling the Pentagon contracts through that firm. Al-Saleh is suing Sargeant, Abu Naba’a and the company for $13 million as his share of the profit from the 2005 contract, plus an unspecified amount of profit from the 2007 contract. Read on…

Oh, dear... Capt points out that when you're in a hole it's best to stop digging. And our local DMW rep just won't learn (Hey, I was right, that IS their motto! Vote DMW, we never learn).
Here we have our Homeschooled friend trying to dig in. First he says that Obama didn't meet with Petreus then when proof that he's an idiot is offered, he makes a bigger idiot of himself.
That's a good way to win an argument, stand on both sides (kinda like the DMW presidential candidate himself who votes for AND against the same issues time after time).
One thing that Gramps is steadfast in is with his support of Lobbyists and paid conmen... like his economic advisor. More scary news for Gramps.
TPMuckraker: Today's Must Read
John McCain's go-to economics adviser isn't holding up very well under close scrutiny.
Phil Gramm, the former Texas senator and economist, is taking a lot of heat after reports that up until April 18 he was a registered lobbyist for UBS, the Swiss bank that is the world's largest manager of private wealth.
A former economics professor at Texas A&M, Gramm has long advocated for tax cuts, supply-side economics and less government regulation. But as David Corn over at Mother Jones reports in "Foreclosure Phil?" Gramm also played an integral role in the financial scandal commonly known as the "subprime meltdown."
TPM: http://tinyurl.com/5d39u8
Foreclosure Phil. Americans have a choice between a campaign that doesn't hire lobbyists and one that hires and fires them, only to replace them with MORE lobbyists.
Child, I noticed you've cut down on the actual factual news pieces that you cut and paste. You've begun to resort to opinion pieces from Dingbat sites.
Scraping the bottom of the barrel so soon? Obama is fighting against two opponents and Gramps still can't get a lead against Obama. Corruption and Lobbyists will be McBush's downfall. Straight talk, heh.
We can take a closer look at Foreclosure Phil and his role in destroying the economy for Gramps. Or we can look at Obama's kin fighting in the Great War to help the Jews and defend our great Nation. And they wonder why Americans have shunned the GOP. Dead. Man. Walking.

Has the long-serving Senator McCain never heard of the economic concept of opportunity cost? Just do the simple math. Instead of watching the Bush Administration deceptively and needlessly pour three trillion dollars into the sands of Iraq (see Scott McClellan's just published book: WHAT HAPPENED: Inside the Bush White House and What’s Wrong With Washington), each and every American man, woman and child could have had $10,000 to spend and invest. Every average American working family of four--two adults and two children--could have had $40,000. Every American family of four could have afforded a new hybrid car (at about $22,000 each), thereby drastically decreasing our dependence on imported oil. And there still would have been $18,000 per family left for investment in renewable energy (fuel cell technology, wind farms, solar technology, etc.), improving public transportation, updating the communications infrastructure (fiber to every office and home and broadband WiFi everywhere), transitioning to universal health care, and modernizing schools to make Americans more competitive in the global markets of the Twenty-first Century. But John McCain would rather perpetuate the grotesque neoconservative blunder and stay in Iraq for a hundred more years, thereby forcing our economy into a downward, perhaps lengthy and even irreversible, spiral.

A shoutout for Mr. Corn at TPM:
==+==
Gramm took to the Senate floor on Dec. 15, 2000 -- just two days after the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the Bush v. Gore decision -- and inserted a 262-page measure into a massive budget bill.
The act, he declared, would ensure that neither the [SEC] nor the Commodity Futures Trading Commission [CFTC] got into the business of regulating newfangled financial products called swaps--and would thus "protect financial institutions from overregulation" and "position our financial services industries to be world leaders into the new century."
If your eyes tend to glaze over at the details of complex financial markets, Corn spells out the mechanics in simple terms.
"Bottom line is the free-for-all in credit-default swaps during the past seven years added greatly to the financial markets' instability, as investment banks began laying out cash like, Corn says, "bookies trading bets."
Gramm remains the vice chairman of the UBS investment arm, and he appears to have benefited from his close ties to the financial industry since leaving the Senate a few years ago.
Whether or not Gramm had bothered to ponder the potential downsides of his commodities legislation, having helped set off an industry free-for-all, he reaped the rewards. In 2003, he left the Senate to take a highly lucrative job at [UBS], Switzerland's largest bank, which had been able to acquire investment house PaineWebber due to his banking deregulation bill. He would soon be lobbying Congress, the Fed, and the Treasury Department for [UBS] on banking and mortgage matters.
Corn spells out how long and intimate Gramm's relationship with McCain has been:
"Gramm's record as a reckless deregulator has not affected his rating as a Republican economic expert. Sen. John McCain has relied on him for policy advice, especially, according to the campaign, on housing matters. The two have been buddies ever since they served together in the House in the 1980s"
TPM: http://tinyurl.com/5d39u8
Mr. Corn Nails McBush.
Underhanded, Corrupt dealings by cronies of Gramps McBush vs Obama's Ethics Reform. A third Bush term and a continuation of the free ride that thugs have gotten in the Middle East vs direct engagement and turning the weight of the world's efforts against a movement that we all hate in the Suicide Bombers. By hilighting these themes, the DMW shoot themselves in the, uh, foot. Dead. Man. Limping.

We need to remember that Senator McCain's main constitutents run corporate America: Big Guns, Big Oil, and Big Pharma--today's G.O.P. Oh, and don't forget the Big Banks, including foreign banks like UBS Investment Bank of Switzerland, a major player in the subprime mortgage meltdown. McCain has indentured himself to Washington lobbyists, who fund and run his campaign. Indeed, McCain's chief economic adviser, Phil Gramm, is a vice chairman of UBS and until April was a Washington lobbyist for UBS. You don't hear the wealthiest one-tenth of one percent complain about their finances, do you? Hedge fund managers and subprime mortgage packagers are not allowed to fail. Only ordinary American families are expected to suffer the consequences of economic meltdown. After all, the corporatists regard labor just as a commodity.

The consequence of the DMW having to play from behind (eww, I know, they can't help it) and the millstone of having Mr. 20% campaign for them is a double whammy:
Rasmussen's latest bundle of joy shows former Democratic Governor Ronnie Musgrove leading incumbent Republican Senator Roger Wicker by one point, 47% to 46%.
Musgrove leads by ten points among women but trails by eight among men. The Democratic challenger leads among voters under 50 while the GOP incumbent leads among those who have passed the half-century mark. Musgove is supported by 81% of Democrats, Wicker by 76% of Republicans, and Wicker holds a very modest 44% to 40% lead among the state’s unaffiliated voters.
Both men are viewed favorably by 49% of the state’s voters. Wicker is viewed unfavorably by 32% and Musgrove by 42%.
Twenty-two percent (22%) have a Very Unfavorable opinion of Musgrove. Just 10% hold such a negative view of Wicker.
This is the third recent poll to show a toss-up race in Mississippi...and a golden pickup opportunity for Democrats in a deeply red state.
===+===
They have to spend big bucks just to stay afloat in their strongest states and districts. Check out what it has done to the NRSC's former leader Liddy Dole:
Evidently nervous about her incredible shrinking polling lead over Democrat Kay Hagan, Republican Elizabeth Dole has decided it's time to go for broke.
No, I mean actually go for broke. She is spending almost one-sixth of her hard-earned campaign cash on this "illegal immigration" ad:
Illegal immigration, it seems, is very bad, according to this ad. Unfortunately, as Senate Guru notes, Dole has already been stung by North Carolina media for her failures on this issue:
Sen. Dole worked hard to help kill a decent immigration reform bill in the U.S. Senate in July. It wasn't perfect, but it provided a practical, intelligent way to secure the border -- and pay for it. It also took the sensible step of providing illegal immigrants a conditional path to legal status. Too bad lawmakers such as Sen. Dole were more interested in shouting "amnesty" and opposing any step toward legal status than they were in helping the folks back home.

Graham and NeoDMW member Lieberman Quit 527 group
They got caught breaking Gramps' own rules. What it is with the DMW and not being able to follow the rules?
"The senators’ positions with the group, which describes itself as a grass-roots advocacy organization pushing for victory in Iraq and Afghanistan, seemed to place them in contravention of new conflict-of-interest rules released by Mr. McCain’s campaign that specifically prohibit anyone “with a McCain campaign title or position” from participating in a “527 or other independent entity that makes public communications that support or oppose any presidential candidate.”

Musgrove (D) 47%
Wicker (R) 46%
Sample size: 500 likely voters.

You wouldn't look so silly if you could actually debate Obummers issues instead of trying to slime his opponents all the time. Too bad Obummer hasn't given any details to help you stooges out. Why hasn't he given any details, what is he affraid of?

Jeff Gannon, the pretend White House correspondent with a pretend name whose chief contribution to American politics was finding a point of intersection between right-wing shilling, homosexual escort services, and the CSPAN network, has weighed in on the whole McClellan/What Happened affair, because, well, what else does he got going on right now in his life? Prepare to disarm your hyperbole alarms!

During a fund-raiser in Denver, Obama — a former constitutional law professor at the University of Chicago Law School — was asked what he hoped to accomplish during his first 100 days in office.
“I would call my attorney general in and review every single executive order issued by George Bush and overturn those laws or executive decisions that I feel violate the constitution,” said Obama
Other goals for his first 100 days: work out a plan to withdraw troops from Iraq; make progress on alternative energy plans and launch legislation to reform the health care system.

Fifty percent (50%) of New York Democrats say it’s time for Senator Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race for the White House. Just 43% believe she should keep going. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey also found that most New York Republicans—52%--want Clinton to keep striving for the nomination. Overall, among all Empire State voters, 45% believe she should drop out while 43% disagree.
Just 16% of New York Democrats think Obama should drop out of the race.
Forty-seven percent (47%) of New York voters believe Obama is the stronger general election candidate. Forty-three percent (43%) believe Clinton would be better.
The survey also found that Obama is now viewed more favorably than Clinton in New York. Sixty-two percent (62%) of New York voters have a favorable opinion of Barack Obama while 55% give Hillary Clinton such positive reviews. For Obama, those ratings are up four points from a month ago while Clinton’s are down three points. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, is viewed positively by 44%. His ratings are down six points from the previous survey.

Blech, the Koolaid enema is backed up and the Homeschooler is dripping Koolaid ALL OVER the place. To get a taste for how wacked out the child has become, let's do a quick word count using MS Word. The number of times the word corruption appears here in this thread is 5 instances, economy 6 times, McSame 9, Iraq 24. Here are the full totals:
Corruption 5
Economy 6
Mcsame 9
Mcbush 12
Iraq 24
Clinton 24
Pansy 30
Mccain 84
Obama 99
Somebody has a spent waaaaay too much time trying to dig out of the hole. Keep digging. 30 comments to dispute my facts without a single instance of success. Someday, you'll get something right. Maybe the tube will fall out and you'll see the light. Maybe. Be back to post some funnies tomorrow. Thanks for doing your part to provide us with your giggles.

McCain Declares Mosul "Quiet" On Same Day As Three Suicide Attacks (Video)
Speaking about Iraq at a townhall event on Thursday evening in Greensdale, Wisconsin, Sen. John McCain declared, "I can tell you that it is succeeding. I can look you in the eye and tell you it's succeeding. We have drawn down to pre-surge levels. Basra, Mosul and now Sadr city are quiet and it's long and it's hard and it's tough and there will be setbacks..." (Video is below.)
McCain was wrong on two points. First, U.S. forces have not returned to pre-surge levels. Before the surge, there were 130,000 troops in Iraq; even if the scheduled troop reductions are carried out as planned, there will still be 140,000 troops in Iraq in August.
Moreover, McCain's claim that Mosul is "quiet" was disproved earlier today in grim fashion. Three suicide bombings -- two in Mosul and another in a surrounding town -- left 30 Iraqis dead and more than two dozen injured, according to press reports.
Clearly, McCain's various congressional trips to Iraq haven't made him infallible on the issue.
Here's video of McCain from this evening:
