Clinton's Over-the-Top, Ridiculous, Impossible-To-Justify Ken Starr Ploy--Will It Work?

| | Comments (124)

Let me stipulate that the Clinton campaign and the Obama campaign, like all campaigns, spin and do their best to present facts and assertions in the manner most advantageous to their candidates. But so far in the Democratic presidential contest, the Clintonites have pushed the envelope of spin further than the Obama crew. Their Ken Starr attack is the latest proof of this.

In the days leading up to the March 4 primaries, Clinton aides repeatedly blasted Barack Obama for his ties to Tony Rezko, a developer whose corruption trial began this week. They constantly prodded journalists to grill Obama about Rezko. Obama has not been accused of anything improper in the Rezko affair, except becoming involved in a personal real estate transaction with Rezko when Rezko was already under investigation. But his relationship with Rezko is certainly fair game for reporters, even if the Clinton spinners are suggesting Obama engaged in significant wrongdoing without being able to back up such allegations.

Even though Rezko was a prominent part of Hillary Clinton's "kitchen sink" attack on Obama before March 4, Clinton aides fiercely maintain that questions about Clinton's personal finances are out of bounds. Yesterday, her campaign hurled the ultimate insult at the Obama camp, complaining that it "mimics Ken Starr," the onetime independent counsel who holds a rather high spot on Democrats' list of Most Hated Republicans of All Time.

What caused the Clinton campaign to throw this ultimate insult at Obama? The Obama campaign, following the losses in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island, raised the issue of Clinton's missing tax returns. For months, she has refused to release her tax returns. At one point, she said she would only make the records public if she were to become her party's nominee. Now her campaign's position is that the returns will be released sometime around April 15. Her tax returns could answer some intriguing questions about her husband's sources of incomes. (For example, is Bill Clinton receiving money from foreign individuals or entities that would be quite happy to have a First Lad in the White House?) While other past and present Democratic candidates (including Obama) have released their returns, HRC has been overly--some might say, suspiciously--reticent. She even recently complained she was too busy to do so. (She doesn't have an accountant?)

There is nothing wrong with the Obama crew making a fuss about this. (In the past, Clinton complained about a political rival who was not forthcoming on this front.) Still, the Clinton crowd responded with the over-the-top Starr comparison. It was an obvious ploy to immunize Clinton from any and all criticism from the Obama camp: Asking questions about the Clinton's business dealing. See? He's just as bad as that nasty Ken Starr.

How can the Clintonites justify tossing questions about Rezko at Obama but decrying his questions about her tax returns, equating his queries with Ken Starr's inquisition into Whitewater and Monicagate? Well, they don't have to justify this absurd contradiction. They can just keep spinning, throwing what they can at Obama and crying foul when anything is tossed their way. Presenting an honest, logical, fair, and consistent argument is not their aim; winning is.

  2. NAFTA-Gate Shocker: Did Hillary's Camp Lie and Frame Obama?

The Canadian Government says it was the Clinton campaign who told them not to worry about NAFTA, not Obama's.

Just when I thought I'd gotten a handle on the so-called "NAFTA-gate" story, it takes an unexpected turn.

Some Canadian news outlets reported last week that Barack Obama's campaign had reached out to Canadian officials, telling them to effectively ignore Obama's concerns about NAFTA, claiming the rhetoric was just political posturing. Those reports turned out to be false. Canadian news also noted that Obama aides had contacted the Canadian ambassador with the same message. That turned out to be false, too. Both Hillary Clinton and John McCain read almost identical talking points, but much of the accusations proved to be unfounded. Nevertheless, given the attention and scrutiny, the largely controversy had a fairly significant impact in Tuesday's primaries.

Now, a new report out of Toronto suggests the original story may have left out some important details.

So if the lie worked is that democratic efficacy?

You know what would be reaaly cool? If there was a function within the media that would investigate and report the facts instead of just a gaggle of parrots repeating anything sensational with caution like . . .

    WMD's =
NBC, MSNBC - owned by GE
    CBS - owned by Westinghouse
CNN - owned by AOL Time Warner
    Most of "the Mainstream Media"

THIS ELECTION IS ABOUT - 29 NEW NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS (Big MONEY)
Aka: Dick Cheney's NEXT Big ENERGY MONOPOLY RIPOFF ... ( Plan)....

Whether Cheney's PLAN succeeds ....OR NOT.... is UP to ALL of YOU.

We all know CORPORATE POWER is in control of our government and ROBBING us every way they can. The "NEWS" media is NOW nearly totally under the CONTROL of Powerful CORPORATE Interests.

The Corporate-Controlled "news" media have interlocking Boards of Directors (same member serves on multiple boards) and all of them serve to enrich their CONGLOMERATED Corporate Masters. (*see FAIR website LINK at the end of this post.)

(YOU can HELP Get the Word Out: Please post this NEWS thruout the Blogsphere and in any NEWS media you can find.)

REAL News you won't see on TV:

Obama is the pre-packaged "New & Improved Chocolate Flavor" Presidential candidate being Marketed like a PRODUCT - hyped & PUSHED by GE and its WHOLLY-Owned subsidiaries NBC & MSNBC...along with Westinghouse & its subsidiary CBS...while slamming the Clintons all day every day. (Assisted by...CNN/FOX/ and a lot of newspaper & radio media dependent on advertising $$$.) GE is the 2nd largest corporation on the planet.

Obama is IN with the Nuclear Industry: Excelon Corp of Illinois has been one of his largest contributors from his entry into politics to the present. Excelon is the largest nuke operator on the planet;owns Con-Ed of NY; more nukes in Illinois than any other state.

GE, Westinghouse, Excelon & 3 consortiums of other companies are planning to build 29 new nuclear power plants. Their Wholly-Owned & Wholly Influenced "News" media are selling the Obama Product because Obama is in favor of Nukes.

In 2005 Obama Voted FOR the Cheney Energy Bill (H.R.6) which ENABLED the nuke industry to make its Plans to build 29 new nukes-by Guaranteeing Taxpayer Payback of any nuke loans that default. (No nukes were built for the past 30 years because the banks wouldn't loan the money - too risky)

Obama Voted FOR the Cheney Energy Bill-despite the fact the Congressional Budget Office rated the risk of default on the nuke loans at 50% or greater. (Does that sound like...GOOD...JUDGMENT to You?)

[NY Times has several articles about the nuke plans & a map showing all 29 locations; Wikipedia covers the subject]

Clinton Voted AGAINST the Cheney Energy Bill and said her Energy Plan does not include nuclear.

? "Its about the FUTURE ...... Turn The PAGE" ?

Nope. Its about Turning the PAGE BACK to the PAST: Obsloete 50 yr old nuke power plants-the dirtiest most expensive kind/centrally-controlled MONOPOLY POWER-instead of deploying New, Clean, Green De-Centralized Inexpensive Energy.

An ad campaign has already begun on the TV media to re-package & re-name nuclear power plants as: GREEN & CLEAN -for- everybody too young to remember the 1970's anti-nuke movement and all the Bad News about nuclear energy.

Don't be taken in by the ad campaigns - Google:'nuclear waste dumps' & read about the hundreds of BILLIONS of gallons of nuke waste at the Hanford Washington dump; 14 tons of plutonium stored at Rocky Flats, Colorado; Barnwell, South Carolina; leaking into groundwater and rivers; plutonium released into the air around Denver from 500 instances of fires at Rocky Flats; nuke waste stored ON-SITE at every nuke reactor in America...presenting hundreds of potential "dirty bomb" targets for terrorists.

Is it true that Obama takes No Contributions/ NO MONEY from Registered Federal Lobbyists?

Yes. It's a LawyerSpeak/Trick of: Speaking a Small truth covering up a Big Lie.

Nope, doesn't take money from REGISTERED FEDERAL Lobbyists.

DOES take money from STATE Lobbyists, Not Registered Lobbyists, AND the wives, husbands, law partners,
...of REGISTERED FEDERAL Lobbyists. Gets money from the same big corporate donors as any other candidate.

Obama's campaign finances are involved in the prosecution (by Patrick Fitzgerald) and trial of his friend of 20 years Antoin Rezko. Some of the funds... allegedly...extorted by Rezko went into Obama's campaign coffers.

Curiously, Iraqi Power Plants and fraud are also involved in Rezko's trial. (Google: Obama -Rezko- Alsammarae-Auichi- IRAQ POWER PLANTS). With the Rezko trial looming over his head Obama, in all good conscience, should not have run for the Presidency - given all the unanswered questions about his involvement with Rezko; including Obama's meeting with Rezko and Rezko's friend Iraqi Billionaire Auichi. Obama's LACK of good conscience in running for President - given the very high risk that the Rezko trial will result in the election of a Republican - reveals Obama's lack of good conscience and his lack of any regard for his party, his country, or its people. Obama should withdraw from the race.

At the beginning of this campaign season a large majority of voters were looking forward to electing Clinton. Then Obama stepped in and started the dirty campaigning that has created the DIVISION he so hypocritically decries. Obama played "the race card" so he could win in South Carolina. He was caught red-handed playing that race card-but the media blamed it on Clinton -even though they all knew they were pushing THE BIG LIE..

With nearly ALL "the mainstream media" pimping for Obama & slamming, smearing, and lying about the Clintons-it is truly amazing enough voters have seen thru the Media-Created Obama "movement"-for Clinton to STILL be in the race.

The only way a very small minority can CONTROL a very large Majority is: DIVIDE & CONQUER -Exactly the same Republican Strategy/Deception they have successfully pulled for most of the last century And ALL of this century, so far. . .

GE, the nuke industry/wealthy have hedged their bets & they will get 29 new nukes IF either Obama or McCain is elected.

Ladies & Gentlemen, Dads & Moms buy nothing GE & Westinghouse are selling - not Obama, not a washing machine, a dishwasher, 29 nuke power plants, or a garbage disposer .... because there is no garbage disposer for Radioactive Nuke Waste. Do not allow them to poison the earth and your children anymore.

  12. Rube Goldberg, Meet Rush Limbaugh

    Primetime Politics ^ | 3/7/08 | E.J. Dionne, Jr.

There they go again. Democrats have contrived a nominating contest that even Rube Goldberg would have considered too convoluted, too dysfunctional and too improbable to name as his own.

The happiest people in the country right now are Hillary Clinton and Rush Limbaugh—Clinton because she has survived, and Limbaugh, because he’s eager for the contest to go on so Barack Obama can be “bloodied up.” Talk about a vast and unexpected conspiracy.

Oh, yes, and John McCain is chuckling, too. His obligatory meeting with President Bush on Wednesday produced videotape far more likely to be used by Democrats than by Republicans, given Bush’s standing as this era’s Herbert Hoover.

But the McCain news was eclipsed by stories about Democratic hand-wringing, learned explanations of the Democrats’ exquisitely intricate “nominating process” and speculation about what nasty things Obama would need to say about Clinton to counteract the nasty things she’s saying about him.

The quotation of the week came from Clinton adviser Harold Ickes. “Too much is yet unknown about Senator Obama,” he said during a campaign conference call on Wednesday. Now that raises fascinating philosophical issues we have not pondered since the philosopher Donald Rumsfeld instructed us that while there are “known knowns,” there are also “unknown unknowns,” those we “do not know we don’t know.”

Update: I found out Wolfson himself dressed as Uncle Sam for the stunt.

In recent months, the team has been trying to focus public scrutiny on Lazio. Wolfson himself, along with a Democratic State Committee member dressed as Uncle Sam, showed up at a Lazio event in Harlem in August, taunting Lazio with the first lady’s New York property tax returns and challenging him to release his returns. In any other campaign, it might have been the candidate who seized such a photo op; but with his boss invested in preserving her dignity, it occasionally falls to Wolfson to supply those moments of semi-slapstick.

  17. According to McCain, By Choosing John Hagee, He's Choosing the 16th Century

McCain's own words from the 2000 election come back to haunt him.

In the 2000 Presidential election primaries, Senator John McCain accused Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson of being "agents of intolerance", and McCain called George W. Bush anti-Catholic for courting the political support of evangelist Bob Jones and for visiting Bob Jones University - which up until Bush's visit had prohibited interracial dating. Bob Jones called the pope the "anti-Christ" and the Catholic Church a satanic cult.

Senator McCain said that if he were invited to Bob Jones University he would have told Jones to "get out of the Sixteenth Century and into the 21st Century. What you're doing is racist and cruel." Now, in the 2008 presidential election, John McCain has aggressively courted, and enthusiastically accepted, the political support of John Hagee, who calls the Catholic Church "the great whore" and a "false cult system" and McCain's accusation, in the 2000 election, has come back to haunt him ; by his own measure, John McCain has chosen the Sixteenth Century.

  33. Obama Adviser: I ‘Strongly’ Believe Telecoms ‘Should Be Granted Immunity’

Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) has consistently spoken out and voted against granting retroactive immunity for telecoms that participated with the administration’s warrantless wiretapping program. This stance was part of the reason he won the support of Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT), a leader on civil liberties issues.

One of Obama’s advisers on intelligence and foreign policy advisers, however, is someone who “strongly” supports telecomm immunity. John Brennan is a former CIA official and the current chairman of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance. In a new National Journal interview, Brennan makes it clear that he agrees with the Bush administration on the issue of immunity:

    *****

And there you have the best news to date. Obama will not just have advisors that are yes-men. That more than anything has been the biggest weakness in the Bush Maladministration.

  37. Sen. Clinton could of showed some Good Will and Magnanimousness of spirit by accepting Ms. Powers' apology and moving on, knowing that some pretty heated things get said in the thick of the battle. Unfortunately, Sen. Clinton and her cronies had to show how Petty they are and call on Ms. Powers' resignation. They showed no generosity of spirit. , I hope Sen Clinton is happy. However, a true person of goodwill would have accepted her apologies and moved on instead of trying to get some kind of political gain. There is no goodness in that woman and Sen. Clinton shows how she really feels about a woman's plight -- she could care less. Sen. Clinton is not a pleasant spirit, and she is very ruthless and cunning. Sen Clinton, what goes around comes around and what you put out will come back. She has a blackened heart of stone and she made much more out of this than it was worth. When Obama wins contests, she comes out and does her stump speech and never congratulates Sen. Obama at all. And now we see that she did not even have compassion towards another women -- just cut her head off! Put her out in the cold, let her suffer. What a mean-spirited women. I like the way Ms. Powers had the class to resign so as not to derail Sen Obama's campaign efforts. She quickly defused the bomb Sen Clinton hoped to throw. People will begin to see through these monstrous tactics of Sen Clinton and her Team.

We are now finding out, through the new information channel, the internet that Naftagate was the work of an initial call from the Clinton camp and Bush’s Canadian allie, Stephen Harper in an attemp to sabotage Obama and the democrats, which they did! Where's the Press on this? Click on the word "round-up"

Those of us who care for our Democracy for the vetting of truth and for fair and accurate reporting must call the main stream media to task. We can exercise our rights and our united power by calling CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, etc. and ask them to begin to Vet Hillary Clinton and ask the important questions they should be asking her, like why she has not returned the money back to IPA, a company accused of sexually harrasing women? Why have they not further discussed Camp Clinton's initial call to Canada in the Naftagate controversy? Why do they continually bring up negative stories on Obama and soft question of her -- like the press is bought and paid for, yet again! It is an illusion that the press has been hard on her and soft on Obama. That is a traditional Camp Clinton spin and we all know they are the Masters of Spin (that means in essence they do not speak the truth).

As for Hillary’s superior foreign experience, Hillary did not think it important enough to read the National Intelligence Report and so she voted Yes on a War/Mistake that should have never been waged instead of having the intelligence and Judgment to say No, as other Senators did, and stated at the time, that we must not invade Iraq who did not bomb us on 911, but instead finish the job in Afghanistan. This makes her qualifyingly ineligible for the top job as commander-in-chief. Just because she surrounds herself with a bunch of generals does not make her qualified. A Photo-op does not eras her Iraq vote or exonerate it. Camp Clinton loves to stage phony events for the perception to make us think something that is not, is -- Masters of Spin & Hype and Delusion, often busing people in to their events to make the crowd look bigger than it is!

Then there is the current Camp Clinton Mantra, that may be the American public are having second thoughts about Barack Obama, beginning to doubt him because he did not win in Ohio. That is such spin. They won Ohio because they slandered him and made people doubt that he is a true Christian and some secret closet Muslim instead. They duped him on Naftagate, when they were the initial culprits, somehow Rezko's trial was pushed up to conincide with the primaries and the insinuation that Obama was a criminal too, just waitin to go down with Rezko. That is why people doubted him unfairly, because of old-time party politics, instituted by a "do anything and say anything mentality", no matter the cost to the person and the party.

Brotherhood (1937) - 552: Do you wish to be courageous? Then prove your courage in battling for Brotherhood. Assurances alone will not create courage, nor will praises affirm achievement. No preparations can be a guarantee of success. Courage is tested by unexpected obstacles. I have already spoken about courage; if I repeat it, it means that this quality is especially needed on the path to Brotherhood

On MSNBC this morning, anchor Monica Novotny claimed that President Bush’s impending veto of the Intelligence Authorization Bill would put “a chill” in his alliance with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). Bush is vetoing the bill because of an amendment that puts the CIA’s interrogation program under the standards of Army Field Manual, which Novotny claims McCain supports.

During the “All-Star Panel” segment on Fox News’s Special Report last night, Roll Call Executive Editor Mort Kondracke said that Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) campaign is worried about appearing too aligned with President Bush and they’re seeking “ways to separate themselves in some way from Bush.” They need “some issue that he can be distinctive from Bush,” said Kondracke

Noting that McCain is the same as Bush on the war and tax cuts, Kondracke said that he doesn’t want to be seen as “just the third term” of Bush:

Democrats have long served as the traditional enemy of Big Pharma, but in this presidential campaign, the left is taking the lion's share of drugmaker money. Democratic senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are the top recipients of donations from the pharmaceutical industry, according to The Center for Responsive Politics, a non-profit, non-partisan research group in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, donations to Sen. John McCain, who was recently endorsed by President Bush as the official Republican candidate, pale in comparison.

  48. Party Donations Show G.O.P. Edge

    By LESLIE WAYNE, NYT

WASHINGTON — For all the success that Democratic presidential candidates have had in raising money — taking in a combined total of over $500 million in the current race — the Republicans are beating them in one crucial area of fund-raising: the money being raised by the parties themselves.

The Democratic National Committee ended 2007 nearly flat broke, with cash of $2.9 million and debts of $2.2 million. Since then it has raised some money, paid down debt and managed to put $3.7 million in its piggy bank. This compares, however, with $25 million that the Republican National Committee has in cash on hand, after having raised $97 million since the beginning of 2007.

And with Senator John McCain now the presumptive Republican nominee, party officials started plotting with his campaign this week on deploying those resources against the well-financed Democratic candidacies of Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

Already, President Bush, who spoke at 29 Republican fund-raisers and is credited with raising $63.5 million last year, is lined up for more R.N.C. fund-raising in the weeks ahead. This money is likely to provide the financial muscle for Mr. McCain to continue his attacks on both Democratic candidates.

“The Republican National Committee’s strength is an important indicator,” said Alex Conant, the R.N.C. spokesman. “The D.N.C. has had trouble raising money, and the R.N.C. is well-positioned to help our nominee financially. It is our mission to get McCain elected president, and that is our focus. Fund-raising is a priority.”

Such party money can play a vital role in presidential campaigns because candidates are barred from using money they raise for the general election until they are nominated at the conventions. So the party money is often used before then — as well as after — to finance advertisements, direct mail and, ultimately, get-out-the-vote efforts.

Democrats say their limited party fund-raising is a result of several factors, including the competition for dollars from the presidential candidates and the party’s Congressional fund-raising committees. And they also say the D.N.C. is hamstrung by its inability to raise money in any serious way without a presidential nominee to rally around.

Since the beginning of 2007, the Democrats have raised $60.5 million, and have spent most of it. Not only does the D.N.C. have far less cash on hand than does the R.N.C., but in this election cycle the R.N.C. has also outraised the D.N.C. by $37 million.

Top House Republicans were told in recent days that a former employee of their campaign committee may have forged an official audit during the contentious 2006 election cycle and that they should brace for the possibility that an unfolding investigation could uncover financial improprieties stretching back several years, according to GOP sources briefed on the members-only discussions.

YouTube, Google, and the Liberal Bias Virus
    By Noel Sheppard | October 16, 2006 - 09:17 ET

The following is a collaboration with Marc Sheppard originally posted at The American Thinker.

Five months ago, the Internet’s top search engine Google was accused of banning conservative websites from its news crawl. Last week, the e-behemoth offered to purchase YouTube, the preeminent provider of videos over the Web that has recently been implicated in censorship of its own. With their pending merger, serious questions arise about the future of the most powerful telecommunications medium on the landscape, and who if anyone is trying to control its content.

As reported by American Thinker on May 22, Internet search king Google eliminated a number of conservative e-zines and blogs from its news crawl earlier this year. In all of the cases cited, the alleged offense was the dissemination of “hate speech.”

After closer examination, the tie between all the banished websites was the publishing of articles about radical Islam and its relation to international terrorism. Yet, sites that actually were more specifically involved in such activities – like Hezb’allah’s propaganda arm in Lebanon, al Manar – were unaffected by Google’s “hate speech” policies, and continue to be a part of its news crawl.

The Liberal Bias Virus: Coming Soon to a Computer Near You

Now, five months later, the web’s leading video-sharing portal YouTube has been implicated for demonstrating a similar hypocrisy in its business practices. In the past several weeks, some leading conservative websites have had videos pulled and their accounts closed. As Robert Cox of the Washington Examiner reported on October 12:

I don't care how often or in what manner he did the deed with Iseman. All that just makes him a liar, a cheat and a bad husband (along with Newt, Rudy, Bobby Barr, and a million other GOP leaders). I have problems with him selling political favors for money from lobbyists. In the old days (think back to the days of ABSCAM and Murtha's flirtations with bribers), they called them bribes. The GOP calls them political donations then fake the audits to show that it's on the up and up. We'll see what the FBI has to say about it....
    Buying Favors from John McBush
"At the same time that John McCain's connection with the Alcalde & Fay lobbyist Vicki Iseman became a great concern to his staffers eight years ago, McCain became a "dedicated sponsor of bills to deregulate the cruise and passenger ship industries." Coincidently, International Council of Cruise Lines paid Alcalde & Fay a fee of $990,600 that year, and on the February night that McCain and Iseman took on a Paxson jet from Florida to Washington, the reformer and the lobbyist were returning from the home of cruise-line executive who was raising campaign cash for the 'straight talk express.'"

990,600 kisses from the lobbyist. Like I said, I don't care so much that he's a shitty husband but the corruption kinda grates on my nerves. Taking bribes used to be done discreetly by the GOP, now they do it out in the open. As Hajji would say, Puuh-thetic.

  68. All Eyes on Illinois’ Tossup Race to Fill Hastert Seat

    […]

Democrats see an upset victory by Foster as the ultimate repudiation of the Republican Party and of President Bush, who handily carried the 14th District in the 2004 election — by a margin of 55 percent to 44 percent for Democratic Sen. John Kerry . But Bush was more popular then than he is now, and Republicans acknowledge a competitive race between Foster, a first-time candidate, and Oberweis, who lost Republican primaries for senator in 2002 and 2004 and for governor in 2006.

In fact, the race seems close enough that CQ Politics is applying a rating of “No Clear Favorite” to the Illinois 14 contest — a change from the Leans Republican rating that previously applied to the race. Should Foster win — and private and public polls suggest that is a plausible scenario — it would mark the first time in nearly four years that a special election caused a shift in partisan control of a congressional district.

Republican strategists acknowledge that the race is very close and that they’re aware of the implications of a Democratic victory in the former Speaker’s district.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Republican Sen. John McCain, showing a flash of the temper he is known for, repeatedly cut off a reporter Friday when asked whether he had spoken to Democratic Sen. John Kerry about being his vice president in 2004. "Everybody knows that I had a private conversation. Everybody knows that, that I had a conversation," McCain told the reporter. "And you know it, too. No. You know it, too. No. You do know. You do know."

The reporter, Elisabeth Bumiller of The New York Times, was following up on a question McCain had answered at a campaign event Friday morning in Atlanta. Asked if he might consider Kerry as a running mate, since Kerry asked him in 2004, McCain said no.

Afterward, on a campaign flight, Bumiller said she looked in the Times' archives and that McCain had denied talking with Kerry in a May 2004 story.

And contrary to conventional wisdom, numbers emerging from polls and primary results show that Sen. John McCain — who has alienated conservatives as he courts independents and moderate Democrats — holds an advantage over Sen. Barack Obama in the race for crossover votes.

There are now more McCainocrats than Obamacans — about 14 percent of Democrats say they would vote for Mr. McCain today instead of Mr. Obama, but just 8 percent of Republicans say they would vote for the Illinois Democrat, according to a Pew Research Center survey on Feb. 28.

Additionally, 20 percent of white Democratic voters say they would defect to Mr. McCain if Mr. Obama is the Democratic Party's nominee — twice the number who would cross over if Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton wins the nomination, Pew found.

"McCain poses a clear and present danger to Obama in that he draws Democrat base support in historic numbers," said Republican strategist Scott Reed.

  72. Brzezinski cherry-picked polling to assert "McCain's crossover appeal is apparently even greater than" Obama's

Summary: Citing a Pew Research poll, MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski asserted that "John McCain's crossover appeal is apparently even greater than Barack Obama's." However, polling has differed on the question of whether McCain or Obama would have greater "crossover appeal" -- appeal to members of the opposite party -- and two polls more recent than the Pew poll Brzezinski cited found that Obama received greater "crossover" support.

An ABC News/Washington Post poll found that 16 percent of Republicans would vote for Obama, and 14 percent of Democrats would vote for McCain in a hypothetical matchup; a Cook-RT Strategies poll found that 13 percent of Republicans would vote for Obama, compared with 10 percent of Democrats who would vote for McCain. Additionally, the Pew Research poll Brzezinski cited also found that overall, 50 percent of registered voters said they would vote for Obama, compared with 43 percent who said they would vote for McCain.

  75. 'Cross-over' voting has baggage
    Prosecution possible for mischief

    […]

Ohio law allows independents - or those who haven't voted in a partisan primary since 2005 - to cast a ballot in either party's primary. Any voter also can cast an issues-only ballot.

But a registered Republican who wants to vote a Democratic ballot must swear - under threat of criminal prosecution - that he "desires to be affiliated with" and "supports the principles" of the Democratic party. The same goes for registered Democrats who want to vote Republican ballots.

Prosecutors and election lawyers say indictments of fraudulent crossover voters are extremely unlikely, and perhaps unfathomable - absent some organized effort by one party to tamper with the other party's result.

    ****

I have always thought of the “cross over” vote (if insincere) are dishonest. How sad that some people are willing to play games with one of the most precious rights we possess as citizens.

The above sounds awfully close to a “loyalty oath” and that too is wrong but people should be fully informed if they are exposing themselves to potential prosecution. That is very different than the republicans making people sign “loyalty oaths” just to get a ticket to see a sitting president. That is brown-shirt thuggery.

John McCain is now starting to inch away from the support of televangelist John Hagee — known for his eager anticipation of Armageddon, plus his inflammatory comments against the Catholic Church and other groups — now that the press has noticed the problem here.

"We've had a dignified campaign, and I repudiate any comments that are made, including Pastor Hagee's, if they are anti-Catholic or offensive to Catholics," McCain told the Associated Press. "I sent two of my children to Catholic school. I categorically reject and repudiate any statement that was made that was anti-Catholic, both in intent and nature."

McCain said he was responding to yesterday's criticism from Nancy Pelosi, describing Pelosi's censure of Hagee's views and McCain's association with Hagee as an "attack."

However, it still sounds like McCain accepts Hagee's endorsement but rejects his views only insofar as they might be anti-Catholic.

  80. McCain Courts Secret Radical Religious Conservative Group

The Council for National Policy would be perfectly happy if the public didn’t even know it exists.

Usually, political groups trip over one another to try and gain public notoriety and attention. The Council for National Policy, meanwhile, would be perfectly happy if the public didn’t even know it exists. (I’ve long believed the easiest job on Earth would be to serve as this group’s press secretary.)

The CNP is made up of many heavy-hitters from the religious right and conservative movement in general, and they meet periodically to plot and scheme. It may sound excessively cloak-and-dagger of the group, but the CNP has a list of formal rules, one of which reads, "The media should not know when or where we meet or who takes part in our programs, before or after a meeting.”

Fortunately, details routinely leak. Today in New Orleans, for example, the CNP will gather and hear from none other than John McCain. (You know, the one who “refuses to pander” to anyone.)

  82. Nobel winner: Hillary Clinton's 'silly' Irish peace claims

    […]

Mrs Clinton has made Northern Ireland key to her claims of having extensive foreign policy experience, which helped her defeat Barack Obama in Ohio and Texas on Tuesday after she presented herself as being ready to tackle foreign policy crises at 3am.

"I helped to bring peace to Northern Ireland," she told CNN on Wednesday. But negotiators from the parties that helped broker the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 told The Daily Telegraph that her role was peripheral and that she played no part in the gruelling political talks over the years.

Lord Trimble shared the Nobel Peace Prize with John Hume, leader of the nationalist Social Democratic and Labour Party, in 1998. Conall McDevitt, an SDLP negotiator and aide to Mr Hume during the talks, said: "There would have been no contact with her either in person or on the phone. I was with Hume regularly during calls in the months leading up to the Good Friday Agreement when he was taking calls from the White House and they were invariably coming from the president."

New York Times reporter Philip Shenon’s new book — The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Investigation — paints a damning portrait of Condoleezza Rice. Shenon argues that Rice was “uninterested in actually advising the President,” but was instead more concerned with being his “closest confidante — specifically on foreign policy — and to simply translate his words into action.”

Today’s Sydney Morning Herald prints an extract from Shenon’s book which provides further details about Rice’s incompetence. “Emails from the National Security Council’s counter-terrorism director, Richard Clarke, showed that he had bombarded Rice with messages about terrorist threats” before 9/11, Shenon writes. 85. McCain lies about his letters to the FCC.

A new piece in the Nation by public broadcasting activist Jerold M. Starr accuses Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) of lying about writing two controversial letters to the FCC in 1999 on behalf of campaign contributor Lowell “Bud” Paxson, regarding “Paxson’s quest to acquire a Pittsburgh television station.” Starr writes:

I don’t know whether Senator John McCain had sex with lobbyist Vickie Iseman, but I do know, first hand, that he broke the rules while doing the bidding of media mogul Lowell “Bud” Paxson, a major contributor to McCain’s 2000 presidential campaign. McCain’s staff lied it about it then and they are inventing new lies even now. […]

At the time, McCain’s staff said to the press that his intervention was appropriate because “there was no formal opposition.” Our opposition had been formal for years. […]

Allegedly, we asked McCain’s staff “to contact the FCC regarding this proceeding.” We had no idea of McCain’s sudden and urgent interest in our local matter until the FCC advised that the commissioners already had voted 3-2 to approve the transfer, at which time McCain’s letters were dropped on us.

  87. Capt, I saw a similar story about Senator Clinton regarding her "experience" in the ChiTrib via Andrew Sullivan.

These are Sullivan's words not mine, words in italics are from the ChiTrib Article:

The Chicago Tribune does us all a service by examining what exactly is Senator Clinton's experience. Read the whole thing, but the Macedonia and Northern Ireland claims are the most revealing:

" Pressed in a CNN interview this week for specific examples of foreign policy experience that has prepared her for an international crisis, Clinton claimed that she "helped to bring peace" to Northern Ireland and negotiated with Macedonia to open up its border to refugees from Kosovo."

Both claims are ludicrously untrue. All she did in Northern Ireland was have tea with some local peace activist women. Laura Bush could argue, by that token, that she has ended AIDS in Africa. But here's the beaut:

" The Macedonian government opened its border to refugees the day before Clinton arrived to meet with government leaders."

Clinton has next to no foreign policy experience. And no executive experience. She has less legislative experience than Obama. And she has not just exaggerated, but flat-out lied, about her non-achievements. I'm glad the Tribune has done this. Can the rest of media follow up?

Clinton lowers expectations in Wyoming and Miss
Perhaps mindful that her audiences in Mississippi and Wyoming might view Obama favorably, Clinton has leaned more toward criticizing the Bush administration and has mostly refrained from direct attacks on her opponent, other than a few veiled references to him with phrases like "reality versus rhetoric" and "solutions over sound bites."

  93. Obama wins Texas!
Posted by: capt March 8, 2008 11:29 AM

That's precisely what I was leading up to. The story at Josh Marshall's place is that HRC bitch slapped Obama and "won" in Ohio, TX and RI. This ignores THREE Undeniable (and seemingly overlooked) facts that disprove this ridiculous contention:

    1. Hillary got fewer delegates out of Texas and VT on March 4th. In effect, Obama WON TX and VT. Factoring in Ohio and Rhode Island, I can count the delegates that HRC netted on March 4th on my fingers. I don't believe she netted more than 10, even under the most optimistic counts. As I said recently, Senator Obama will win back the same number of net delegates in Wyoming and Mississippi. Pennsylvania will be a wash like Ohio and Senator Obama will win out the string and drown HRC's Superdelegates with ads seeking their support. He will win the nomination before the convention, hands down.

    2. Obama gained 8 more delegates in California as the counts are being certified there and are practically done. That in and of itself gains back the delegates that HRC netted on March 4th.

    3. HRC was up by over 20 points in TX and OH before March 4th and he ate up her lead in 2 weeks. Any lead that she has in Pennsylvania will be gone by the time Aprill 22nd rolls around.

The only thing that worries me about PA is Carville's experience there and his saying that "Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between."

Eventhough Obama did well in Alabama, I don't think he will do as well in this version of Alabama.

WASHINGTON — A longtime protege of President Bush told former U.S. Attorney David Iglesias that he was fired for political reasons and that he shouldn't fight his ouster, Iglesias says in a new book.

"This is political," Iglesias recalls Texas U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton telling him shortly after he was ousted. "If I were you, I'd just go quietly."

Iglesias, a former U.S. attorney in New Mexico, is one of nine federal prosecutors whose firings triggered a yearlong controversy at the Justice Department and led to the resignations of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and 11 other Justice Department officials.

Iglesias cites the exchange with Sutton in his upcoming book, "In Justice," as further evidence that he was forced out because Republicans were displeased with his refusal to prosecute Democrats.

John McCain is getting much more than President Bush's endorsement and fundraising help for his campaign. He’s getting Bush's staff.

Karl Rove, the president’s top political hand since his Texas days, recently gave money to McCain and soon after had a private conversation with the senator. A top McCain adviser said both Mehlman and Rove are now informally advising the campaign. Rove refused to detail his conversation with McCain.

The list could grow longer. Dan Bartlett, formerly a top aide in the Bush White House, and Sara Taylor, the erstwhile Bush political adviser, said they are eager to provide any assistance and advice possible to McCain.

  107. LBH knows the score

Yes I do know the score and some day you may catch up. I give you a 4 on scale of 1-10 on edgy and 3 1/2 on humor. Keep working on it though you're getting better.

Now Capt and Eyes, I'm very disappointed with you two after bashing McCain for not denouncing the Haggee endorsement cuz of his hate speech against homos / lesbians and catholics but give Pande a pass when he admits to being a follower of this guy.

This is why I will never take you seriously my friend.

    Pathetic!!!!!!

  109. Looks like Pande was right about one thing, Obamas Foreign policy expert that resigned for saying Hillary is a monster was just being open and honest. She also went on to say that Obama has no exit strategy from Iraq. Whoops- looks like obama might be ther for 100 years.

  110. Man I am really suprised that Pande is a follower of a guy who said that gay's are responsible for 911. Dude thats really bigoted!

Thanks Eyes and Capt for making that little tid bit of a fact available a few posts back.

  112. Did you kill Larry King?

    […]

When Fred Phelps wanders the country inflaming hatred toward gays, when the Republican candidate for President embraces that homophobic rantings of televangelist John Hagee, when attempts to teach tolerance of gays in public schools are met with sloganeering and hatemongering by religious fanatics, it is no wonder that Brandon thought it entirely proper to kill Larry.

Most who will read this will exempt themselves as tolerant and even advocates of gay rights. Good for you. But for a large portion of even quietly tolerant Americans, the blood of Larry stains your hands as well.

  114. California Primary Results Certified: Obama Gains 4 Delegates

Nobody seems to be covering this, but it seems relevant news. The California Primary results were finally certified on Tuesday, March 4, and the final result is that Obama has picked up 4 delegates from Hillary - for a total 8 delegate swing.

In case the significance of this number escapes you, Hillary's net delegate win on March 4 was approximately 8 delegates (the certified results have yet to be tallied, but isn't expected to swing much from that number).

The result? Hillary's victories on March 4 were a wash.

And yet the M$M had a different take, as recently as today one can fins stories in the papers that still tout the HRC “come back” and treat Texas as a big win in the HRC column.

  116. Iraq Vet: U.S. Can't Afford McCain Victory

Army Ranger Blasts GOP Candidate's Iraq War Stance, Says McCain Would Ignore Other Threats

    […]

"Our country and our armed services cannot afford another leader like President Bush who would keep our overstretched military in Iraq for 100 years while ignoring the other threats our country faces both at home and around the world." McCain has said that U.S. troops could be in Iraq for many years if those troops were no longer being injured or killed.

"I honor and thank John McCain for his years of military service to our country," said Martinez, who is studying at the University of Texas at San Antonio. "But I don't think he offers the right leadership on Iraq or understands how to reinvigorate our economy here at home."

Martinez said U.S. troops are fighting bravely, "but no matter what they do they cannot solve the political problems in Iraq." The next commander in chief needs to promise to make the fight against al Qaeda in Afghanistan a greater priority than the war in Iraq, Martinez said.

  117. They knew, but did nothing

    […]

The warnings were going straight to President Bush each morning in his briefings by the CIA director, George Tenet, and in the presidential daily briefings. It would later be revealed by the 9/11 commission into the September 11 attacks that more than 40 presidential briefings presented to Bush from January 2001 through to September 10, 2001, included references to bin Laden.

And nearly identical intelligence landed each morning on the desks of about 300 other senior national security officials and members of Congress in the form of the senior executive intelligence brief, a newsletter on intelligence issues also prepared by the CIA.

The senior executive briefings contained much of the same information that was in the presidential briefings but were edited to remove material considered too sensitive for all but the President and his top aides to see. Often the differences between the two documents were minor, with only a sentence or two changed between them. Apart from the commission's chief director, Philip Zelikow, the commission's staff was never granted access to Bush's briefings, except for the notorious August 2001 briefing that warned of the possibility of domestic al-Qaeda strikes involving hijackings. But they could read through the next best thing: the senior executive briefings.

    *****

Yet there are knuckleheads that believe to this very day that Bush never lied.

I know the Bush supporters will whine “old news” but it is not, this is published just yesterday.

He knew, Rice knew, everybody knew - the inaction of those tasked to protect us and defend our country are criminally culpable and will face justice in one form or another.

  118. The Republican Cross-Over Vote: Not a Factor

There are new articles today in the Dallas News and the Cleveland Plain Dealer on the Republican cross-over vote (Dems for a Day)and whether it had any effect on the outcome. Some Obama supporters would have you believe that it was of such significance as to result in Obama's loss in those states.

In Ohio, the article says there were 16,000 cross-over votes in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland.) The article talks about Rush Limbaugh urging Republicans to vote for Hillary, but of those interviewed in the article, one Republican voted for Hillary and one for Obama. They had different opinions on who would be better able to beat McCain. Obama won by 23,000 votes in Cuyahoga. Effect of the cross-over vote on the election: none shown and it's not even determinable which candidate they voted for.

    ******

I think it shows how little respect Rush has for his audience to tell people to game their votes. There will be a few folks that are willing to play games or game the system but most folks - especially real conservative folks take personal honesty seriously and have more self-respect than to vote fraudulently.

  119. Oh, Dear, LBH has been back and left quite a pile of poopy diapers. Time for me to clean up.

    First some funnies. Sunday Funnies:

"Hillary criticized Obama so strongly that at one point he yelled at her. He just said, 'Hey, easy, lady, we're not married'"
    --David Letterman

"And God bless him, Ralph Nader running for president again. Yeah, yeah! Nader says he's running for president again because the Democrats did not stop President Bush on the war in Iraq and on the tax cuts. Stop him? If Nader hadn't run, there wouldn't have been a President Bush."
    --Jay Leno

"What do you call somebody at a Ralph Nader campaign rally? Ralph Nader. That's the only one there."
    --Jay Leno

"He's gonna be 74 next week. In fact, the good news, if Ralph gets sick, his younger brother, Raul Nader, will then take over."
    --Jay Leno

"Well, you know who's thrilled that Nader is back in the race? John McCain. He's not the oldest guy anymore."
    --Jay Leno

"Yesterday, Ralph Nader announced he's running for president again. Immediately after the announcement, the guy sitting next to Nader on the park bench told him to shut up."
    --Conan O'Brien

"President Bush said today that he is very concerned about the acceleration of hostilities in the former Yugoslavia. See, again, I don't think President Bush is really familiar with this region of the world. Like, he said today that violence in Serbia could spread to Suburbia and claim the lives of millions of Suburbanites."
    --Jay Leno

"You all enjoy the Academy Awards last night? ... I thought Jon Stewart did a great job. He did a great job. You know, the Oscars are broadcast in over 100 different countries, three of which actually like us."
    --Jay Leno

"This is exciting news. Southern Methodist University announced that they will be the home of George W. Bush's presidential library. This will be the first presidential library to be made up entirely of small, shiny objects. In fact, I understand right now, they're building a shelf for the book."
    --Jay Leno

"Now, as you probably know, President Bush's wife, Laura, was a librarian when they met. Did you know that? In fact, she's the only thing he ever checked out of a library"
    --Jay Leno

"British scientists are now conducting new tests on the Shroud of Turin. ... They're trying to pinpoint exactly how old it is. They say if these tests are successful, one day they might be able too determine the exact age of John McCain."
    --Jay Leno

"They have debated so much that they are now debating about debating. Did you see this? A lot of this debate was about the power of words. Hillary said, 'Actions speak louder than words,' Then Obama said, 'Words can speak as loud as actions.' And then McCain said, 'Speak louder!'"
    --Bill Maher

"Hillary's speeches may not be exciting, but, by God, every tired, cliched, coma-inducing word is original. Except that they're not, that's the thing. You know, politicians, they all steal. ... In her closing statement, she ripped off something that Bill Clinton used to say, and he got it from Kennedy, who got it from FDR, who got it from Lincoln, who got it from McCain. He's old."
    --Bill Maher

  120. This is even funnier...

Somebody call the Suicide Hotline for the poor Dingbats at Redstate. They are coming undone over the loss of Denny Hastert's old seat. The following are direct quotes from losing side:

What a sad state of affairs this is. The Republicans spent nearly a fifth of their dismal funds on a race in a reliable GOP district and still lose it in a district Bush overwhelmingly carried. Lets also add salt in our wounds by it being Hastert's seat.

I don't care how people viewed Oberweis the fact is Foster ran as a staunch liberal in a district like this and appears to have won. Thats very low and it will hurt our moral (sic)

The Foster Divorce stuff should really hit the fan now that he is congress (sic) and an Obama Superdelegate.

face it this should be a Republican seat and now we lost it and won't take it back in November either.

I can call all paper headlines tom.
Dems increase House Majority with Hastert Seat
Thats a pretty low blow morally to Republicans.

    Great job Illinois GOP!!!
We handed over the Speaker of the House's Republican district to a Moveon.org Democrat!! Way to go!! I don't think you can understate how bad this loss is for morale. Oh yeah, did I mention that the NRCC spent millions defending this seat when they barely have any money at all?

Every nonpartisan political commentator had this as leaning Republican (at least until the last few days). So, yes, I did expect to hold this seat and it's extremely disheartening to lose it.

Bob Novak's last column said that in the end Foster would probably lose simply because of this district's Republican demographics. And I don't think anyone expected the Democrat to win this district by 5 percentage points.

wake up guys...old strong hold are no longer reliable.....

Another bad sign for the GOP for things to come in Fall. The Dems win a staunch GOP district and do so pretty convincingly.

This is disgraceful, just absolutely disgraceful.
This is going to be a national story for the next week or more.

Pay close attention to all Survey USA polls They had this thing pegged. They've been pretty accurate all primary season.

This race was a HUGE deal. This was such a Republican stronghold that even a weak candidate would normally win. But this thing wasn't even close.

Those scandals really seem to have tarnished the Republican brand so badly that it may take many, many years to regain our footing.

Maybe there is just a gigantic political realignment going on. How can Republicans possibly counter this horrific momentum that just won't end?

There was an ad that showed Oberweiss and a ghostly spectre of President Bush hovering behind him that seemed to really move the numbers in this race. I'm sure that strategy will be used frequently this fall.

If you want to get upset with DeLay, This is why.

Delay never ran the House. Hastert did. And gee, this was his seat. Lay off of Delay, and lay the blame at the feet of the Speaker who lost the House.

Posted by: Pandemoniac Author Profile Page | March 9, 2008 9:54 PM

  121. Somebody call a Waaaahmbulance. There's more caterwauling from the losing side at Redstate:

The problem for the House GOP is that there are 10 open seats right now less Republican than this district, and another 5 open seats less than two percentage points more Republican than this district, which was just won by a Democrat by more than 5 points.

What I am saying is the rebranding of the GOP as the conservative Southern Christian party has damaged the GOP brand severely in the North and West. The near-complete meltdown of the GOP in New England in 2006 is well on its way to happening in the outlaying suburban districts in the North and West, even those the GOP previously won in repeatedly by comfortable margins.

The Democratic victory in a district Bush carried only 3 years ago by 11.6 points is a symptom of this trend where the Republican brand has been seriously damaged in much of the country, especially by George Bush and Tom Delay.

This loss has nothing to do with George Ryan and everything to do with George Bush. With the kind of ham-handed leadership the president is showing, the dems could run frenchmen in November and win big. I wish Senator McCain would play down the prez's endorsement. Nobody's impressed.

In the end this justifies my thinking that Republicans will lose House and Senate seats in Nov, which is a downgrade because I thought it might be possible for Republicans to split even.

I understand everyone here is very conservative and very loyal to the Republican Party (which is obviously different for me which you can tell by my sig), but a time comes when you have to say that Republican leadership sucks. The Republican tactics in the Senate ARE NOT HELPING. People are not blaming Democrats they are just hating Republicans even more.

All that the tea leaves are saying right now to me is that even IF McCain can win he will probably face around 56 Democrats in the Senate and about 10+ Democrats in the House, which isn't much to get done. I thought Republicans should be able to pick up at least 1 Senate seat (Landrieu's) but I am starting to highly doubt that

I used to live in NYC. Our G.O.P. is found only on milk cartons

As someone from Illinois, I can tell you this is a big loss to the party. It's also a big shock to me. I'd have thought you were crazy if you told me a Democrat would be taking over this seat. It's been in Republican hands for over 30 years and Hastert was extremely popular there. I don't know if this was just an anamolly or a trend we'll see again in November.

As others have mentioned, I think Mark Kirk is going to be in trouble in November. Dan Seals made it a surprisingly close race in 2006 and the Dems have already started getting him out and about this time around.

Daaaang! I said is before, I'll say it again: The GOP is SOOOOooo Dead Man Walking.

  122. Girl in Clinton Ad Supports Obama

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. (AP) — Casey Knowles didn't much like a recent campaign commercial for Hillary Clinton — even though she's in it as a sleeping 8-year-old.

After all, she about to turn 18 now and is a big supporter of Barack Obama.

"What I don't like about the ad is its fear-mongering," Knowles told ABC's "Good Morning America Weekend Edition" on Sunday. "I think it's a cheap hit to take. I really prefer Obama's message of looking forward to a bright future."

  123. Now on to LBH's poopy diapers....

"brother Obama won Wyoming-ye ha that a whole 7 delegates in a red state that McCain will win in the General. "
Posted by: LBH March 8, 2008 10:53 PM

Yup. 3 electoral college votes fom Wyoming in the general? We might let Grandpa McBush take 'em. Gramps McBush won Ohio and California in his primaries. He can say goodbye to those. That's 55 and 20 ECVs. 75 of the 280 that Obama'll win on the way to drowning Grampa McBush. Says who? Says Survay USA. Remember the quote from RS about SUSA being right on the money this election cycle? I noted this earler too. They have Hillary AND Obama dropping Gramps in the general.

The great news today is that the dysfunctional DNC wants the tax payers of FL and MI to apy for a do over at a cost of 25 million.
Posted by: LBH March 8, 2008 10:53 PM

You obviously aren't aware of the fact that taxpayers of the state pay for elections during every election. If their state party chose to violate party rules, it isn't the DNC's fault. If they want their delegates to be seated, they can caucus like Iowa. Cheap and easy.

"If Pandes real lucky, he and his Catholic bashing preacher Haggee will be raptured before Obama gets demolished in the general if he can survive Hillary. That way I won't have to embarrass him in front of his fans here in cornnut land. "

Oh the irony of watching the GOP eat their own. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. Now that the Democratic Party has achieved dominance, the GOP has turned into a band of roving cannibals destroying each other in fits of hatred. Gramps McBush can't take the endorsement of his base (Hagee) because party regulars despise Hagee because he's a PR nightmare. Gramps McBush can't take the endorsement from W. Bush because the entire country despises him. It sucks to be you, dude.

  124. There are no surprises here. The Clintons are ruthless, unprincipled, totally lacking in ethics and WILL DO ANYTHING TO WIN. It is sad for this country that this horrible woman is doing so well in this race. She did so many dishonest things the last time she lived in the White House that if she ever get back there we would be subjected to scandal AFTER SCANDAL. SHE IS MEAN, VINDICTIVE, HAS AN ENEMIES LIST 500 MILES LONG AND WILL THOROUGHLY CORRUPT THE PRESIDENCY.

Remember FILEGATE, TRAVELGATE, HIRING PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS TO DISCREDIT THE WOMAN BILL CLINTON ABUSED AND RAPED IN THE CASE OF JUANITA BRODDERICK AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON...
